Synthesis of oxime from a renewable resource for metal extraction
Anh Son Hoang,Thi Huong Tran,Hong Nhung Nguyen,Hong Son Vu,Thanh Phong Vo,Chi Phan,Thanh Vinh Nguyen 한국화학공학회 2015 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.32 No.8
A new method for semi-synthesis of alkyl salicylaldoximes from cardanol is reported. Cardanol was extracted from decarboxylation process of cashew nutshell liquid, an abundant agricultural by-product. Molecular structures, physical and chemical properties of cardanol and oxime derivatives were confirmed by spectroscopic analyses. The produced oximes were successfully employed to extract copper(II) cation from aqueous copper salt solutions, offering a practical and economical pathway to effectively recover metals using agricultural by-products.

Managing a construction project is challenging because of cost, time, safety, and quality considerations. In the most projects, the cost of construction is one of the most critical aspect because material cost alone accounts for significant ratio of the total project. Therefore, the cost of construction materials should be controlled. In this study, we proposed the use of material requirements planning (MRP) to control the cost of construction materials. After determining the demand for the materials required for construction, we estimated both the quantity of materials required and time taken to deliver the materials to the construction site. Although economic order quantity models have been applied to analyze construction material costs, they do not accurately reflect concerns related to material cost. Therefore, we used the material supply chain model (construction logistics planning) to analyze material costs. To optimize MRP according to the current progress of a project, a novel approach combining the dragonfly algorithm (DA) and particle swarm optimization algorithm (PSO) was proposed. To verify the advanced searchability of the DA–PSO algorithm, the algorithm was compared with the gray wolf and the genetic algorithms.
Novel online routing algorithms for smart people-parcel taxi sharing services
Son Nguyen Van,Nhan Vu Thi Hong,Dung Pham Quang,Hoai Nguyen Xuan,Behrouz Babaki,Anton Dries 한국전자통신연구원 2022 ETRI Journal Vol.44 No.2
Building smart transportation services in urban cities has become a worldwide problem owing to the rapidly increasing global population and the development of Internet-of-Things applications. Traffic congestion and environmental concerns can be alleviated by sharing mobility, which reduces the number of vehicles on the road network. The taxi-parcel sharing problem has been considered as an efficient planning model for people and goods flows. In this paper, we enhance the functionality of a current peopleparcel taxi sharing model. The adapted model analyzes the historical request data and predicts the current service demands. We then propose two novel online routing algorithms that construct optimal routes in real-time. The objectives are to maximize (as far as possible) both the parcel delivery requests and ride requests while minimizing the idle time and travel distance of the taxis. The proposed online routing algorithms are evaluated on instances adapted from real Cabspotting datasets. After implementing our routing algorithms, the total idle travel distance per day was 9.64% to 12.76% lower than that of the existing taxi-parcel sharing method. Our online routing algorithms can be incorporated into an efficient smart shared taxi system.
The role of rapid tissue expansion in separating xipho-omphalopagus conjoined twins in Vietnam
Tran, Thiet Son,Pham, Thi Viet Dung,Ta, Thi Hong Thuy,Vu, Duy Kien,Nguyen, Thanh Liem Korean Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surge 2021 Archives of Plastic Surgery Vol.48 No.4
Conjoined twins are rare, and each set of conjoined twins has a unique conjoined anatomy. It is necessary to perform separation to increase the chance of patient survival. Tissue expansion is an advanced technique for providing sufficient soft tissue and skin for wound closure. We report the successful application of rapid tissue expansion in 10-month-old xipho-omphalopagus conjoined twins in Vietnam. A tissue expander was placed on the anterior body between the sternum and umbilicus with a baseline of 70 mL sterile saline (0.9% NaCl). The first injection into the tissue expander began on the 6th day after expander insertion, and injections continued every 2 days with approximately 30-70 mL per injection according to the expansion of the skin. The expander reached 335 mL after six injections and within 10 days. In order to prepare for surgical separation, expansion was completed on the 15th day after insertion. The expanded skin area was estimated to be 180 cm2, which was sufficient to cover both patients' skin deficiencies. The twins presented for surgical separation 6 days following the completion of tissue expansion. Both babies were discharged in good health 1 month after separation.
Optimize Negotiation Price in Construction Procurement using Bayesian Fuzzy Game Model
Sou-Sen Leu,Pham Vu Hong Son,Pham Thi Hong Nhung 대한토목학회 2015 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.19 No.6
The challenge of construction procurement negotiation arises partly because each negotiation side has private information on their payoff function but is uninformed of the values and strategies of the opposite side. The uncertain and limited contractor information as well as complex correlations among various factors affect contractor behaviors, making learning a supplier’s negotiation strategy and deciding the appropriate offer price difficult for contractors. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to apply the forecasting ability of a novel Bayesian Fuzzy Game Model (BFGM) in providing negotiation support and recommendations for contractors determining an appropriate current bid price. The validation analysis revealed that the contractor can foresee the supplier’s future bidding strategy to increase the success rate and profit, reduce the time spent in unnecessary negotiation, and improve negotiation efficiency in the construction material procurement process. Based upon the survey data from Taiwan and Vietnam, the preliminary validation of the model shows that both contractor and supplier can obtain the profitable agreement by applying the BFGM within a reasonable negotiation time.
Dual-band isotropic metamaterial absorber based on near-field interaction in the Ku band

We numerically and experimentally investigate single-band and dual-band isotropic metamaterial absorbers (IMAs) based on metallic disks. By optimizing the diameter of the metallic disks and the thickness of the dielectric substrate, the single-band IMA is observed at 16.2 GHz with absorptivity of 97%. When adding one diskpair to the structure, the dual-band IMA is obtained at 12.8 and 15.5 GHz due to the symmetry breaking. The physical mechanics is explained by near-field coupling effect and equivalent LC circuit model. The measurement results performed in the range 12–18 GHz show a good agreement with simulation and theoretical analysis. Our findings demonstrate a new approach to achieve dual-band and multi-band IMAs.
Mortality following transarterial embolization due to hemorrhage after liver venous deprivation
Thanh Dung Le,Van Sy Than,Minh Duc Nguyen,Hoai Linh Vu,Xuan Hai Dao,Hong Son Trinh 소화기인터벤션의학회 2022 Gastrointestinal Intervention Vol.11 No.2
Liver venous deprivation (LVD) is considered to be a safe and effective method that induces more rapid and important liver hypertrophy before major hepatectomy in comparison with portal vein embolization (PVE) alone. Bleeding complications after LVD or PVE are rare, but can be a life-threatening event. Herein, we report a case of perihepatic and extended subcapsular hematoma of the liver after LVD. Transarterial embolization was performed using gelfoam to control the hemorrhage; however, the patient developed irreversible liver failure and passed away after 38 days of treatment. In patients with LVD or PVE, severe post-procedural bleeding poses a substantial challenge for treatment. Arterial embolization should be carefully considered to avoid liver failure and even death, regardless of whether temporary embolization is used.
