There have been many trials of clinical efficacy of multicomponent and single component treatments for irritable bowel syndrome(IBS). We reviewed effects of non phamacological treatments in the IBS. Though the efficacy of multi-component approaches was unclear, several results suggest that cognitive behavioral therapy was effective in improving gastrointestinal symptoms of IBS. As a single component, cognitive therapy and relaxation with or without biofeedback could improve the symptoms and psychological health of IBS patients. Yoga, meditation, self-help information and hypnotherapy could be applicable to IBS.

Recently, according to the development of mechatronics industry that was composed of NT, ST, IT, RT and etc, the necessity of nano-parts was increased. Because of the necessity, this research was started for improving work precision of the parts as fixing UPCU (Ultra Precision Cutting Unit) on lathe. So, in this research, we executed the modeling of UPCU (Ultra Precision Cutting Unit) by the application of PZT, the relationship between the displacement of tool in UPCU and the cutting force of it has been in take a triangular position in the case of plane cutting. The modeling of system, that is containing the fine displacement, was performed. Also, we would like to find the optimal cutting condition through the simulation of relationship between the displacement and the cutting force.

Rice genetic resources are composed of various species and ecotypes, and each accession reveals different genetic and phenotypic characters. For the managenment of diverse rice genetic resources, seed integrity is important factor in that the individuals of one accession in self-pollinating crop might be homogeneous. To elevate the management efficiency of rice germplasm contrary to the phenotypic distinction, we focused on applicable microsatellite markers because this markers are widly used for genetic evaluation in diverse genetic resources with a character of high reproducibility and polymorphism. In this regard, we selected microsatellite markers based on genotypes; diversity set including 150 accessions using 249 SSR markers. As SSR loci with high PIC(polymorphism information content) values usually revealed multi bands in one accession, proper genotyping were difficult in these loci. Therefor, we checked the band clarity in addition to PIC values and chose 12 and 6 SSR markers finally. All accessions of rice diversity set were distinguished with the first marker set comprising 12 SSR markers, and only 3 combinations of tested accessions(0.03%, 3/11,175) showed same genotype with second marker set comprising 6 SSR markers. The tested 142 Korean bred varieties revealed 0.19%(19/10,011 combinations) and 0.69%(69/10,011 combinations) genotypic identity using first and second marker set, respectively. These newly selected markers might be useful for the analysis of genetic homogeneity and relationship in rice genetic resources.

<P>The RDA Genebank at the National Agrobiodiversity Center (NAAS, RDA, Republic of Korea) has conserved about 182,000 accessions in 1777 species and is working at preserving agricultural genetic resources for the conservation and sustainable utilization of genetic diversity. The detection of genetic variability in conserved resources is important for germplasm management, but the molecular evaluation tools providing genetic information are insufficient for underutilized crops, unlike those for major crops. In this regard, the Korean National Agrobiodiversity Center has been developing microsatellite markers for several underutilized crops. We designed 3640 primer pairs flanking simple sequence repeat (SSR) motifs for 6310 SSR clones in 21 crop species. Polymorphic loci were revealed in each species (7-36), and the mean ratio of polymorphic loci to all the loci tested was 12%. The average allele number was 5.1 (2.8-10.3) and the expected heterozygosity 0.51 (0.31-0.74). Some SSRs were transferable to closely related species, such as within the genera <I>Fagopyrum</I> and <I>Allium</I>. These SSR markers might be used for studying the genetic diversity of conserved underutilized crops.</P>
Variation of seed germiability in diverse rice genetic resources

Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is important crop as a staple carbohydrate sources and was regarded as domesticated in Asia region. The seed dormancy is one of the domesticated traits, and this character allows that plants survive in various environment. The degree of dormancy have been targeted for controling in breeding program while weak dormancy cause pre-harvest sprouting contrary to the nonuniform seed germination by strong dormancy. In this study, we surveyed the variation of germiability in diverse rice genetic resources including japonica and indica ecotype. Overall, the degree of seed dormancy of rice germplasm was distinguished into four groups and admixed types; first group(G-1) included accessions revealing high germiability, the accessions of second group(G-2) acquired the high germiability by after-ripening process, third group(G-3)’s accessions showed high germiability after dormancy breaking process and the accessions of last group(G-4) maintained the low germiability in spite of the dormancy breaking process. Among the 51 japonica accessions G-1, G-2, G-3 and G-4 included 15, 15, 11 and 10 accessions, respectively, and among 40 indica accessions, G-1, G-2, G-3 and G-4 groups included 15, 15, 9 and 1 accessions, respectively. Based on these primary test, we plan to detail examine the seed germiability and survey the genetic factors affecting the degree of germiability in representative accessions of each group

Balloon flower (Platycodon grandiflorum A. DC) is widely distributed in South Korea and there are some local landraces that are cultivated as a vegetable crop or medicinal plant. Making use of the gene resources of wild-type and landraces is a way to increase the genetic diversity of the cultivars. However, few tools or information are available on an efficient identification system for maintaining and management of these landraces. To improve the genetic resources for balloon flower, 22 simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers, also known as microsatellite markers, were evaluated in a collection of 42 balloon flower landraces, 34 of which were from Korea and eight from China. All microsatellite markers produced the 107 alleles ranging from 2 to 10 with a mean of 4.864 alleles per each locus ($N_A$). The values of observed heterozygosity ($H_O$) and expected heterozygosity ($H_E$) ranged from 0.00 to 0.667 (mean of 0.285) and from 0.024 to 0.741 (mean of 0.416), respectively. An average value of polymorphic information contents (PIC) were 0.382 with a range of 0.023 to 0.703. Results of population structure and phylogenetic and principal coordinate analysis (PCoA) indicated that P. grandiflorum germplasm formed two largely distinct clusters according to their origins and the genetic differentiation. There was a high level of genotypic diversity at broad geographic regions between Korea and China, but the low genetic differentiation was found within the collections from Korea. The results of the genetic diversity will be useful for the selection of the parents for developing balloon flower breeding and the multi-locus SSR markers developed herein will be a valuable resource for germplasm assessments, evaluation of genetic diversity, and population genetic studies of balloon flower.
Variation of pre-harvest sprouting and ABA content in rice germplasm

Among the diverse crops, rice (Oryza sativa L.) has been domesticated as a staple carbohydrate sources mainly in Asia region, and RDA Genebank at the National Agrobiodiversity Center (NAAS) has conserved about 37 thousand rice accessions accordingly. Seed dormancy, one of domesticated traits, prevents pre-harvest sprouting (PHS) which causes degradation of grain quality in cereal crop. In previous study, we surveyed the variation of seed germinability of diverse 200 rice germplasm and detected the three distinguished groups besides admixed types; the first group (G-1) revealed high germinability at harvesting time, and the second group (G-2) and third group (G-3) acquired high germnability subsequent to after-ripening and dormancy breaking process, respectively. To reduce environmental effects on detected variation of germinability, we selected representative 14 accessions which have similar heading date of each group and measured the degree of PHS using freshly harvested panicles. Variation of PHS showed similar tendency of germinability group; generally, high PHS for G-1, low PHS for G-2 and no PHS for G-3. To resolve genetic and physiological factors concerning on PHS and seed dormancy, we checked the change and variation of ABA known for critical regulator for seed dormancy, and high PHS accessions interestingly revealed high ABA content in 10 DAF. Based on these study, we plan to analyze genetic factors affecting the degree of seed germinability and PHS.

An attachment part of an excavator consists of boom, arm and bucket. Because these weight make a massive impact on the upper and lower structure, these parts of the structure should be optimized properly for the light weight design of an excavator. In this paper, for this reason, the optimization of an excavator boom was performed; the weight as objective function, the thickness of the boom plate as design variables and the stress of the structure as constraints. About five kinds of operation mode of an excavator existing models and advanced high strength steel plate models have compared the results of the optimization. Optimization results, the mass of existing models 12.5% and advanced high strength steel plate models 14% was reduced.
