        In these days, the orthodontic surgery including lingual orthodontics has attracted a person’s attention due to its functional and esthetic appreciation. The delivery of the optimal orthodontic treatment is greatlyinfluenced by clinician’s ability to predict and control the tooth movement by applying force system to dentition. The skeletal anchorage system with the miniscrew has been used recently in the lingual orthodontics to assist the anchorage control. Precise understanding of the force system produced from the various orthodontic appliances is necessary. However, the qualitative and quantitative effect of the miniscrew has not been identified well. In this paper, three dimensional finite element analysis is introduced on the lingual orthodontics to investigate the effect of anterior retraction force on the miniscrew and transpalatal arch wire. The purpose of this study is to determine the location of the miniscrew and the point of force application of the anchorage system in the lingual orthodontics. The analysis results indicate the efficient position of the miniscrew and the transpalatal arch wire in the lingual orthodontics.

        Vacuum interrupters in order to be used in various switch-gear components such as circuit breakers, distribution switches, contactors, etc. spread the arc uniformly over the surface of the contacts. The electrodes of vacuum interrupters are made of sinter-forged Cu?Cr materials for good electrical and mechanical characteristics. Since the closing velocity is 1-2m/s and impact deformation of the electrode depends on the strain rate at that velocity, the dynamic behavior of the sinter-forged Cu?Cr is a key to investigate the impact characteristics of the electrodes. The dynamic response of the material at intermediate strain rate is obtained from the high speed tensile test machine test and at the high strain rate is obtained from the split Hopkinson pressure bar test. Experimental results from both quasi-static and dynamic compressive tests are interpolated to construct the Johnson-Cook model as the constitutive relation that should be applied to simulation of the dynamic behavior of the electrodes. The impact characteristics of a vacuum interrupter are investigated with computer simulations by changing the amount of chromium content.

        Computed Radiograhpy (CR)를 통한 목재 수종별 X선 투과 이미지 해석을 위한 기초연구 (1)

        The use of digital copies of film-based analog images and the introduction of digital radiographic imaging systems using image plates gradually replace the non-destructive radiationirradiation method of Cultural Heritage. The quality of images obtained from this technique is affected by conditions such as tube voltage, tube current, and exposure time, type of image acquisition medium, distance of the artifacts from the image acquisition medium, and thickness of artifacts. In this study, we evaluated the grayscale image obtained using GE's Computed Radiograhpy (CR) imaging system, the transmission characteristics of the X-ray source for each tree type (pine, chestnut, sawtooth oak, ginkgo) used in wooden Cultural Heritage, and the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and contrast. The GE's CR imaging were analyzed using the Duplex wire image quality indicator, line-pair gauges. 문화재 방사선 비파괴 투과 조사 방식은 이미지플레이트(Image Plate, IP)를 사용하는 디지털 방사선영상시스템(Computed Radiography, CR)이 도입되면서 필름방식의 아날로그 이미지에서 점차 디지털 이미지로 교체되고 있다. 방사선 비파괴 투과 조사의 이미지 품질은 촬영 조건(관전압, 관전류, 노출시간), 영상 획득 매체, 촬영 거리, 유물의 두께 등이 영향을 미친다. 이 논문에서는 목재 문화재에 주로 사용되는 수종(소나무, 밤나무, 은행나무, 상수리나무)에 X선 선원의 투과 특성을 GE사(社)의 CR 영상 시스템을 통해 획득된 이미지의 그레이 스케일(Gray Scale)을 분석한 후 신호 대 잡음비(signal to noise ratio) 및 대조도를 평가하고, 이중-선 상질계(Duplex-wire image quality indicator), 구형파 차트(line-pair gauges), 선형 식별계(Image Quality Indicator)를 이용하여 이미지를 분석하였다.

        산림수확 시뮬레이터 HARVEST 응용에 의한 벌채지 공간배치 사례연구

        In this study, we used HARVEST, a timber management strategy assessment tool, to evaluate alternative forest planning strategies on spatial pattern of cutting blocks. We applied the tool to the Gwangreung Experimental Forest (GEF) as a case study. The harvest schedules developed for GEF using a linear programming model was used to assess spatial patterns of cutting blocks under different management constraints. The results show that the allowable maximum harvest size largely affects the number, size, and distribution of cutting blocks. We also found that spatial dispersion methods and adjacency constraints could be used as an effective means to control spatial allocation of cutting blocks in order to meet certain forest ecosystem management goals.

        거대 상상돌기 수막종에서의 미세수술 전략

        Background : The giant clinoidal meningiomas (CLMs) inevitably engulf the neurovascular structures around the anterior clinoid process (ACP), which make the surgery in great danger of internal carotid artery (ICA) compromise, neuroendocrine disturbance, blindness and oculomotor nerve palsy. The aim of this study was to suggest the safe surgical strategy for these dreadful tumors. Materials and Methods : From March 2008 to April 2016, 12 patients underwent surgical removal for their giant CLMs. The clinical profile, radiological imaging, surgical records including surgical videos and postoperative neurologic outcomes were reviewed. Results : The mean age of patients was 51.9 years. Average size of the tumors was 6.3 cm ranging from 5.0 cm to 8.3 cm. Surgery was performed in supine position and head was rotated about 45°to the contralateral side. The extradural anterior clinoidectomy was applied with extended pterional craniotomy including zygomatic osteotomy or orbitozygomatic osteotomy. We removed the tumor with the concept of compartment dissection in which we divided the tumor into medial and lateral compartment with the reference of ICA-M1 (sphenoidal segment of middle cerebral artery) line. Total tumor removal was achieved in 8 patients (67%) and subtotal in 4 patients (33%). Postoperative complications were transient oculomotor nerve palsy in 3 patients and decreased visual acuity in one patient. The mean preoperative Karnofsky Performance Scale (KPS) score was 82.5 (range 60-90) and improved to 95.8 (range 80-100) in the last follow up period. Conclusion : The surgery of giant clinoidal meningiomas is difficult because of their giant size and multiple neurovascular and cisternal involvement. The most important factor for successful surgery is a three dimensional orientation of tumor with its surroundings. The concept of compartment dissection would help surgeons to be oriented in perception of neurovascular structure surrounding the tumor. The extended pterional craniotomy, extradural anterior clinoidectomy, extended durotomy, and compartmental dissection are recommended for the efficient removal of these dreadful tumors.

        대상포진후 신경통 치료중에 발생한 흉막 삼출액

        We experienced a case of pleural effusion while treating postherpetic neuralgia in a 70 year old male patient. The patient had scar and color change on the skin along the course of the right Th4-5 intercostal nerve, characteristics of healed herpes zoster. The patient also com- plained of severe pain along the lesion site which made sleeping difficult. He had been treated with; epidural blocks with or without catheterization, epidural or regional corticosteroids; mul- tiple intraspinal and intercostal blocks with local anesthetic;- or neurolytic, alcohol, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, etc., for about six months by the time of pleural effusion development. We came to the conclusion that the effusion was due to pleural irrita- tion by multiple intercostal nerve blocks, because it was bloody and developed on the affected right side, although the patient had a history of a certain hepatic pathology and pulmonary tu- berculosis which may be a predisposing factor to the effusion.

      • 문화재 비파괴 진단과 디지털화

        방사선 기술은 우리 일상생활에 다양하게 활용되고 있다. 이미 유럽 등의 국가에서는 문화재 비파괴 진단, 문화재 보존복원 분야에서 보편화되어 연구 및 조사에 활용되고 있다. 방사선의 물질 투과 특성을 이용한 문화재 비파괴 진단은 유물 내부 결함, 제작 기법, 구조 형태를 조사하는 문화재 보존처리 과학적 기록화 과정이다. 문화재 방사선 비파괴 진단은 필름(Film)에서 방사선 투과 결과를 확인하는 아날로그 방식이었으나, 최근에 X선 CR (Computed Radiography)과 X선 CT (Computed Tomography)의 디지털 데이터 방식이 활용되고 있다. 이러한 디지털 방식의 데이터는 디지털 문화유산(Digital Heritage)의 원천 디지털 자원이 될 수 있다. Radiation technology is used in various ways in our daily life. In European countries, radiation is used for non-destructive diagnosis, conservation and restoration of cultural heritage. Non-destructive diagnosis of cultural heritage using the material penetration properties of radiation is a process of examining production techniques and structural forms. Nondestructive diagnosis of radiation was an analog method for confirming the results of radiation transmission in films, but recently, digital data methods of X-ray Computed Radiography (CR) and X-ray Computed Tomography (CT) have been used. Digital data can be a source of digital resources for your digital heritage.

        주의력결핍 과잉행동장애에서 오로스 메칠페니데이트의 효용성

        Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is one of the common psychiatric problems in childhood. The symptoms of ADHD tend to last for adulthood and the patients suffer from various comorbid problems and functional impairments. Methylphenidate (MPH) is the first choice of pharmacotherapy for ADHD and many researches have demonstrated its efficacy. We reviewed the clinical trials for efficacy of MPH focusing on Osmotic-Controlled Release Oral delivery System Methylphenidate (OROS MPH). It was identified that MPH improved core symptom of ADHD, peer relationship and health related quality of life and might improve various aspects of cognitive function. It was proved that the efficacy of OROS MPH was better than placebo and comparable to immediate release MPH (IR MPH) dosed three times daily in various studies. Especially, parent’s preference of OROS MPH was better than IR MPH. The efficacy of MPH for academic achievement was equivocal. Long-term efficacy of OROS MPH was also inconclusive and further study is necessary.

      • 굴삭기 경량화를 위한 고강도 강판 적용 부재의 치수최적설계

        An attachment part of an excavator consists of boom, arm and bucket. Because these weight make a massive impact on the upper and lower structure, these parts of the structure should be optimized properly for the light weight design of an excavator. In this paper, for this reason, the optimization of an excavator boom was performed; the weight as objective function, the thickness of the boom plate as design variables and the stress of the structure as constraints. About five kinds of operation mode of an excavator existing models and advanced high strength steel plate models have compared the results of the optimization. Optimization results, the mass of existing models 12.5% and advanced high strength steel plate models 14% was reduced.
