        Endothelin(ET) is a 21-residue peptide originally isolated from the cultured porcine endothelial cells. There are at least three genes for endothelin:endothelin-1(ET-1), endothelin-2(ET-2), and endothelin-3(ET-3). Endothelins are present in various human biological fluids including plasma, urine, breast milk, and saliva and have been found elevated plasma ET concentrations in patients with diabetes mellitus, Patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis due to chronic renal failure, patients with acute myocardial infarction, and patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage. Endothelial cell damage is suspected to occur in diabetic patients and may be one important cause of angiopathy, a major complication in diabetes mellitus. The elevation of ET in diabetic patients may be a marker of, and further exacerbate, their vascular disease. We measured the levels of ET-1 in plasma of 50 patients with non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus(NIDDM) and 25 normal subjects by radioimmunoassay. The plasma ET-1 concentration (mean±S.D.) in NIDDM was 6.461 A2.510 f㏖/ ㎖, and was significantly higher than in normal subjects (4.567±1.155f㏖/㎖) (P<0.05). The plasma ET-1 concentration (mean±S.D.) in diabetic retinopathy group( 7.15±2.454 f㏖/ml) was significantly elevated than those in otherwise uncomplicated groups (5.348±2.390 f㏖/㎖)(P<0.01). The correlation between any clinical parameters and plasma ET-1 levels in NIDDM was not significant, In conclusion, this study suggest that the elevated levels of ET-1 in diabetic patients may be play a important role in the pathogenesis of diabetic complications.

      • 운동부하양식에 따른 심폐 능력의 비교분석

        The purpose of this study this study was to comparative analysis the V02max and HR through arm ergometer exercise, bicycle ergometer exercise, and treadmill exercise and to propose correct data of aerobic ability according to GXT. Subjects for study were 8 healthy male students. The process of the test were performed maximal GXT on arm ergometer exercise, bicycle ergometer exercise, and treadmill exercise and measured V02max, max heart rate and recovery time of 3 VO2 and heart rate respectively. The conclusions were supported by the findings of this study: 1.There were significant differences between test style and V02/kg/min(p<.05). 2.There were significant differences between test style and test stage at heart rate(p<.05) There were no effect of reciprocal action. Therefore, V02/kg/min should be on individual exercise prescription guiedlines for health promotion should be provided proper GXT which are arm ergometer exercise, bicycle ergometer exercise, and treadmill exercise.

      • A Study on Visual Model of Residential Space in terms of Luxuriousness

        This study aims to understand which pairs of visual adjectives are significant on analyzing user perception of luxuriousness about residential spaces, especially a living room of an apartment. An experiment was conducted by experiencing the living room of nine model houses provided by five apartment companies in Korea. Survey questionnaires were distributed to 32 people. The subjects were asked about three pairs of adjectives in the form of semantic differential scale and luxuriousness, rated on a 7-point and 100-point scales, respectively, about the nine interior elements. As a result of analysis, there are one to three significant pairs of adjectives under each nine interior element of a living room. It shows the participants tend to have a certain image to determine luxuriousness about the interior elements of a living room.

        Proteome analysis between diverse phenotypes of Salmonella enterica subspecies enterica serovar Typhimurium (S. Typhimurium)

        Protein expression patterns in Salmonella enterica subspecies enterica serovar Typhimurium (S. Typhimurium) strains with diverse phenotypes, such as phage type, antibiotic resistance pattern and plasmid profiles were examined. For detailed analysis of proteins expressed by different S. Typhimurium strains, protein fractions were divided into detergent-rich phase (DP) and aqueous phase (AP) using triton X-114 detergent. The two phases were subjected to two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2-DE), followed by protein identification using peptide mass fingerprinting (PMF). In the results, PMF showed that DP fractions consisted mainly of outer membrane proteins, whereas the AP fractions included cytosolic proteins. Comparison of 2-DE profiles of DP did not show any distinct protein spots which could be correlated with phage type, antibiotic resistance pattern or plasmid profile. However, comparisons of 2-DE profiles of the AP revealed differences in the protein spots, which could be correlated with the plasmid profile and phage types. Among these protein spots, flagellin was specific for strains containing a 90 kb plasmid. Compared to DT193 phage type, three protein spots in the range of pI 5.0-5.5 and MW 8-15 kDa of AP 2-DE profiles were absent in the DT104 phage types. Additionally, a protein spot with PI in the range of 4.5-5.0 and molecular weight (MW) between 51-69 kDa was specific for phage type DT104, while a protein spot with pI in the range of 4.0-4.8 and MW between 18-20 kDa was specific for DT193 phage type. These protein spots may be useful for discriminating phage types of S. Typhimurium.

        최근 스마트폰을 이용한 인터넷 서핑 시간이 증가함에 따라 스마트폰 관련 시장이 급속히 발전하고 있다. 따라서 스마트폰의 제한된 영역에서 효과를 높일 수 있는 방법으로 네이티브 광고라는 새로운 광고 형식이 대두되었는데, 이는 해당 매체의 콘텐츠처럼 자연스럽게 보여주어 거부감을 낮추고 인식력을 향상시키는 광고 형식을 의미한다. 그러나 네이티브 광고가 독자의 인지과정에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가에 대한 연구는 이루어지지 않았으며, 때문에 효율성을 증대시키기 위한 전략 또한 제시되지 않고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 광고의 게재위치 및 콘텐츠관련 사진 유무 등 조건을 달리하여 제시함으로써, 인지능력을 극대화할 수 있는 환경을 제안하고자 하였다. 결과적으로, 광고의 위치에 따라 인식률이 유의미하게 차이가 있었고 (p<0.05), 특히 상단에 위치하는 경우 인식률이 가장 높았다. 또한 콘텐츠와 관련된 자료사진 유무는 시각적인 광고 인식에는 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤으나 광고 내용의 이해 정도에 유의미한 영향을 미치지 않았다 (p<0.05). 본 연구결과를 토대로 콘텐츠의 속성을 고려하여 광고전략을 세운다면, 광고 효과를 효율적으로 높일 수 있을 것이다. With increasing use of smartphone in recent years, it became necessary to consider distinctive characteristics of smartphone interface in advertising. One of the most famous advertising methods in smartphone environment is called ‘native advertising’, which blends with the rest of the contents naturally by matching its format with the platform. However, few studies have suggested strategy to improve its effectiveness based on its intrinsic property. Therefore, this paper proposes an effective method for native advertising by differentiating location of commercials or inserting news pictures. As a result, when posed at the upper part of the contents, degree of perception and cognition increased significantly (p<0.05). Moreover, when observing the effect of picture related to the contents, the degree of perception increased while there was no significant difference on cognition process. Therefore, we expect that advertisers could increase advertising effect by utilizing this study.

      • 아파트 주거 공간의 고급감과 만족도의 정량화에 관한 연구

        주거 환경은 실용적 기능뿐만 아니라 심리적 기능이 고려되어야 하는 공간으로서, 사용자의 감성이 고려된 설계의 필요성이 대두되고 있다. 그러나 아직까지 주거 환경 설계 분야에서는 감성공학적 접근이 부족한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 한국의 브랜드 아파트 모델하우스를 대상으로 거실공간에 대한 체계적인 감성 평가를 통해 거실 공간의 고급감에 주요한 영향을 미치는 인테리어 요소와 각 요소들의 고급감에 주요한 영향을 미치는 세부디자인 변수를 도출하고자 하였다. 연구 결과, 바닥, 월패드, 조명, 우물천장디자인, 천장몰딩이 거실고급감에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 인테리어 구성요소로 밝혀졌다. 또한, 바닥의 경우에는 재료가, 월패드의 경우에는 재료와 색상이, 조명의 경우에는 사이즈와 상관색온도가, 우물천장디자인의 경우에는 천장형태, 우물천장타입, 질감이, 천장몰딩의 경우에는 우물천장타입이 각 주요 인테리어 요소의 고급감에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 세부 디자인 변수인 것으로 밝혀졌다. 본 연구는 체계적이고 구체적인 감성공학 접근방법을 주거 공간에 적용하여 주거 공간의 외부적 요소와 사용자의 주관적인 만족도간의 상관관계를 도출하고 최종적으로는 주거공간의 고급감과 만족감에 관한 정량화 분석을 수행한 연구로써 의의를 지닌다.

        Association of p53 Expression with Metabolic Features of Stage I Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

        Background: Recent evidences have revealed metabolic functions of p53 in cancer cells; adaptation or survival to metabolic stress and metabolic shift toward oxidative phosphorylation. However, further studies in clinical setting are needed. We investigated whether p53 protein expression, as a surrogate marker for loss of p53 function, is associated with metabolic features of stage I non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), focusing on tumor necrosis and maximal standardized uptake value (SUVmax) on 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography. Methods: Clinical information was obtained from retrospective review of medical records. p53 expression was assessed by immunohistochemical staining. Results: p53 protein expression was detected in 112 (46%) of 241 NSCLC cases included in this study. p53 expression was independently associated with the presence of necrosis (odds ratio [OR], 2.316; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.215∼4.416; p=0.011). Non-adenocarcinoma histology (OR, 8.049; 95% CI, 4.072∼15.911; p<0.001) and poorly differentiation (OR, 6.474; 95% CI, 2.998∼13.979; p<0.001) were also independently associated with the presence of necrosis. However, p53 expression was not a significant factor for SUVmax. Conclusion: p53 protein expression is independently associated with the presence of necrosis, but not SUVmax.
