      • 어렝놀래기, Pteragogus flagellifera(Valenciennes)의 생식주기와 성전환

        Reproductive cycle and sex reversal of the cock-tail wrasse, Pteragogus flagellifera, were investigated histologically on the gonadal development, sex change of the gonad and studied by gonadosomatic index (GSI) , color patterns. Samples were collected at the costal area of Hamduck in Cheju-do, from October, 1991 to October. 1992. In male and female, GSI began to increase from May(ma1e) and June(femalel when the water temperature began to increase and reached it's maximum value in Jun(male) and July(female). It began to decrease from August, thereafter, maintained relatively low value until May of nex year. The annual reproductive cycle of this species could be classified iuto four successive development stage : growing stage (May-June), mature stage (June-July), ripe and spent stage (July-August) , degenerative and resting stage (August-April). The species is a protogynous hermaphrodite, and has two color patterns : red-yellow (A) and dark-green (B). A-fish were less than 12.0cm SL and consisted of female (74.4 %) and fish with transitional gonad (25.6%). B-fish consisted of secondary male (87.3%) and fish with transitional gonad (12.7%). In P. flagellifera. individuals with hermaphrodetic gonad were observed in 8.0-12.0cm SL. Sex reversal of this species could be occured from 8.0~12.0m SL.

        염산용액에서 비누화 PC88A에 의한 용매추출로 Gd와 Sm의 분리

        Solvent extraction experiments have been performed to separate Gd and Sm from chloride solution with PC88A and saponified PC88A. The effects of extraction conditions on the distribution coefficients of Gd and Sm were investigated. The distribution coefficients of Gd were higher than those of Sm in the experimental ranges of experimental conditions of this study. A solvent extraction model was developed to predict the distribution coefficients of metals and separation factor between Gd and Sm from the initial extraction conditions. The measured distribution coefficients of Gd and Sm with PC88A and saponified PC88A showed good agreements with the predicted values. (Received March 3, 2005)

        The purpose of this study is to traffic flow characteristics and the proper method of estimating traffic capacity on the arterial. The major results of this study can be summarized as follows ; (1) The relationship of density and speed, Greenshields model is proper than other models. (2) The density estimated through S-V relationship is 174 ㎞. (3) The methods used in this paper yields more stable values with 2286 veh./h.

      • 급성 백혈병 관해유도요법후 발생한 다발성 비장농양 1예

        Splenic abscess is a rare illness. Its incidence has ranged from 0.14 to 0.7 % in various autopsies conducted in the US. Even in the most recently published articles, diagnosis was made only in autopsies in 37 % of the cases. While splenic abscess may arise occasionally from contiguous spread of infection or direct trauma to the spleen, usually it develops with hematogenous spread or infection. But, bacterial endocarditis is the most common cause. RUQ pain of abdomen developed in only half of series. Splenomegaly, fever and leucocytosis was also present. When splenic abscesses are being considered in a differential diagnosis, CT scan of the abdomen has been the most sensitive diagnostic tool. Streptococcal species are the most common bacterial isolates from splenic abscesses, S. aureus is the next most common. Salmonella species are seen commonly in patients with sickle cell hemoglobinopathy. Because of the high mortality related for splenic abscess, the treatment of choice is splenectomy with adjunctive antibiotics. However, percutaneous drainage has been successful alternative. We reported a 19-years old female patient who had splenic abscess after remission induction chemotherapy of acute leukemia, successfully treated with splenectomy.

        Traditional database applications store data into a disk, and process queries on the stored database, later, to get needed information in general. Recently new types of applications have been widely recognized, in which applying such traditional data processing model is not appropriate. In these new applications, information is composed of a series of continuous data value. A data stream occurs continuously. It has real-time property. It is an infinite sequence of data items ordered based on the order of arrival or timestamps. For data stream applications, it is highly required to manage data streams, and to process them efficiently. This paper surveys some new issues needed to manage data streams. It also describes recent research results for data stream management.

      • Phenylephrine이 토끼 유두근의 수축력과 활동전압에 미치는 영향

        In order to clarify the receptor types and mechanisms underlying the positive inotropic effect of phenylephrie on the mammalian ventricular myocardium, the action potential, its first derivatives and isometric contraction of the rabbit papillary muscle were recorded using a free transducer and glass capillary microelectronics filled with 3M KCI, and results were analyzed. The results were as follows; l. In normal Tyrode solution, the contractile force was increased with increments of phenylephrine concentration and maximum effect was reached at the stimulation frequency of 1 Hz in 10^-5 M phenylephrine. 2. In 22 mM K^+-Tyrode solution, the maximum rate of rise (Vmax) of action potential, overshoot and the duration oction potential were significantly increased with increments of phenylephrine concentration (10^-6 ~ 10^-4 M). 3. The negative inotropic effect induced by verapamil was reversed by phenylephrine. 4. Phentolamine (3x10^-6 M) shifted the dose response curve for phenylephrine to the right more than propranolol (10^-6 M) did. The above results may be interpreted as follow; The positive inotropic effect of phenylephrine is caused by increase in slow inward current (Ca^2+influx into the myocardial cell), and is mediated through α- and β-adrengergic receptors in the rabbit pailary muscle

      • 양어용 사료첨가제로서 감귤발효액(EM-Fermented Orange)의 항산화특성

        Mandarine orange (Citrus unshiu Marc.) only added with sugar was fermented by effective microorganisms (EM) called "EM-fermented orange". EM was mainly composed of lactic acid bacteria, phototrophic bacteria and feast. As pH of EM-fermented orange reached 3.5 to 4.0 in the course of fermentation, the incubation was stopped. and then. EM-fermented orange was preservable at room temperature for about 6 months. Composition and concentration of free amino acids in EM-fermented orange were analyzed. Concentration of total amino acids was 167mg/l, and the relative content of carnosine (β-alanyl-L-histidine) which was well known as a kind of antioxidant materials was very high. 41%. In addition. crude extract showing antioxidant activity could be obtained from EM-fermented orange using some organic solvents. The antioxidant activity of the crude extract was equivalent to about 9% of that of vitamin E by the use of 1.1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) method. It was suggested that EM-fermented orange having antioxidant characteristics could promote the health of fish.

      • 위 유문동 평활근세포의 Caffeine 활성화 전류에 미치는 Ascorbate의 효과

        In order to observe the effects of ascorbate on the background current in pyloric circular smooth muscle cells, caffeine of which action was fairly clarified, was used to induce the current systems. To block all of the known currents, various blocking agents were added in the external bathing solution. A part of pyloric circular muscle tissue was excised out, and enzymatic isolation technique was used to obtain Ca^2+ -tolerant single circular muscle cells. The whole cell mode of patch-clamp experiment was conducted. The results were as follows : 1. Ascorbate induced the increase of inward currents in the hyperpolarized potential ranges, and quite a large increase of outward currents in the depolarized ranges. 2. Caffeine also induced similar results, but the magnitude of outward current was smaller than that of assorbate in the depolarized ranges. 3. These phenomena were disappeared by addition of the anion channel blocker. 4. Replacement of external NaCl with NMG·Cl was rarely affected the effects of ascorbate and and caffeine. But the effects of ascorbate and caffeine were almost abolished when sxternal Cl^- was substituted for aspartate. These results suggested that ascorbate affected chloride current which thought as a component of the background currents in the pyloric circular smooth muscle cells.

      • 개국약사들의 환경 문제에 대한 의식 분석 : The Subject of Studies in Pusan & Ulsan Areas 부산 ·울산 지역을 대상으로

        The rapid increase of the population, the urban concentration and the high growth of the industrial development produced the environmental pollution, destroyed the balance of the natural ecosystem, falled in human's circumstances. They are influenced the serious problem that the whole human race should face. Especially in case of my country, establishing five-year economics development since 1960, we promoted the plan. To the conclusion, we could be satisfied in some degree economically. But we overlooked over the damage of the environmental pollution. According to the quality of the surroundings get feeble damage of natural ecosystem and the pollution of our living environments. So we recognize the environmental pollution as the serious social problem. On this point of view, on the premise that our pharmacists as the special intellectuals are responsible for the environmental pollution. Here upon I posed questions and examined the interest of the phamacists about the environmental problem. As follows if I summarize the total contents. 1. About the environmental pollution of my dwelling place, most of us suffer damage and we are the assaulters of it. In particular the dwellers of the factory districts are damaged much. 2. As the media for the acknowledgement about the environmental pollution and the acquirement of recognition, most of pharmacists get acknowledgement printing media about environmental pollution. Accordingly they need the special education about the environmental pollution. 3. We cannot confine the responsibility of the environmental pollution to individual. I should emphasize the public obligation. As and individual, enterprises, a government, so on we all citizens feel emphasize about environmental problem. We already know the importance of duty about it. On the other hand, we practice unsatisfactorily in our daily lives. So the intellectuals should pay mere attention to it. 4. Posing questions about the protestation of the opinions against the environmental pollution and taking exception to it. Most of respondents said "No experience". In spite of their discontent about it, they didn't cope with the positive solutions. Also the low rate of the participation in Environment Purification Movement is caused by the working conditions of the from opening pharmacists is considered (Working time ; Daily Average about 15 hours). To these conclusions, the pharmacists so called the special intelligents need the education about the environmental pollution. As the main group of the Environment Purification Movement, household the enterprises, a government all of us ought to have the reform of conciousness for the public duties. We should introduce better program that gives warning to the environmental pollution in the press, not temporarily but persistently. We demands the practical Environmental Policy about the people's demands for the living in delightful circumstances.

      • 선인장과 빙초산에 의한 원발성 자극 피부염

        Cactus is a worldwidly distributed ornamental plant with irritant hairs, some cacti species have juices that are powerful primary irritants. There are several reports of contact dermatitis related to topical application of cacti in the English literatures. Acetic acid is a highly irritant strong acid and corrosive agent. It causes chemical bum or primary irritant contact dermatitis. A 64 year old female patient was suffered from painful edema, erythema, ulcer and vesicle on dorsum of left hand. The symptom was caused by contact with crushed cacti dissolved in industrial grade acetic acid as a folk medicine for the treatment of scaly patch on dorsum of left hand. The skin lesion of the patient was healed leaving fibrosing scar with the limitation of finger movements.
