        As a part of forestry utilization for livestock feed resources the feeding value ague of shrub leaf by growth stage and grazing behabiour of the native cattle at shrubby grassland in function of seasons were investigated and the following results were obtained. 1. The crude protein content of oak leaf declined as the growth stage increased whereas the contents of crude fiber and crude fat showed the opposite tendency. 2. The intake of oak leaf paralleled with the amount given while the intake of the mixed grass leas remarkable increased and the body weight gain was also remarkably increased. 3. The average number of oak leaf intake was 70.5 times for spring, 148.7 for summer, and 395.7 for autumn. 4. The grazing time by the native cattle was decreased in the order of spring, autumn, and summer. As for the grazing behaviour, the intake activity was most active during morning, mid-day and late afternoon or three times a day. 5. The duration of rumination was found to be in the decreasing order or summer, autumn and spring, cattles ruminated more when the grasses were more abundant. 6. As for the inactive period of animal, it was short during spring when the animals spent more time for eating but it was about 5 times longer during both summer and autumn.

      • Lymphoepithelial cysts of the pancreas with sebaceous differentiation

        Lymphoepithelial cysts (LECs) of the pancreas are very rare true cystic tumors whereas LEC have been shown in the parotid gland and in the thyroid. LEC are cysts lined by stratified squamous epithelium with dense lymphoid tissue in the walls. Furthermore, the sebaceous gland differentiation of pancreas LEC is also very rare finding, whereas has been reported in a parotid LEC. A asymptomatic 65-year-old man visited for a 35 mm mass in the pancreas neck portion which identified by CT scan 3 years ago. The physical examination did not show abnormal finding and laboratory studies show elevated serum CA19-9. Over a 3-year period, on follow upCT scan, multilobulated mass grew to 44 mm without dilatation of the main pancreatic duct. And MRI with communication with main pancreatic duct suggested a branch duct type intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (IPMN) with suspicion of malignancy. Consequently, after distal pancreatectomy, histologic findings revealed to LEC with sebaceous differentiation. The possibility of a dermoid cyst was considered due to the sebaceous glands in our patients. But on dermoid cyst, dense lymphoid tissue could not befounded. LEC is benign lesion which can be cured by resection. LEC should be considered a rare but distinct entity in the differential diagnosis of cystic tumor of the pancreas. We report an unusual case of LEC of the pancreas with sebaceous differentiation.

        Ticagrelor Monotherapy After 3-Month Dual Antiplatelet Therapy in Acute Coronary Syndrome by High Bleeding Risk: The Subanalysis From the TICO Trial

        Background and Objectives: Identifying patients with high bleeding risk (HBR) is important when making decisions for antiplatelet therapy strategy. This study evaluated the impact of ticagrelor monotherapy after 3-month dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) according to HBR in acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients treated with drug eluting stents (DESs). Methods: In this post-hoc analysis of the TICO trial, HBR was defined by 2 approaches: meeting Academic Research Consortium for HBR (ARC-HBR) criteria or Predicting Bleeding Complications in Patients Undergoing Stent Implantation and Subsequent DAPT (PRECISE-DAPT) score ≥25. The primary outcome was a 3–12 months net adverse clinical event (composite of major bleeding and adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events). Results: Of the 2,980 patients without adverse events during the first 3 months after DES implantation, 453 (15.2%) were HBR by ARC-HBR criteria and 504 (16.9%) were HBR by PRECISE-DAPT score. The primary outcome rate was higher in HBR versus non-HBR patients (by ARC-HBR criteria: hazard ratio [HR], 2.87; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.76–4.69; p<0.001; by PRECISE-DAPT score: HR, 3.09; 95% CI, 1.92–4.98; p<0.001). Ticagrelor monotherapy after 3-month DAPT was associated with lower primary outcome rate than ticagrelor-based 12-month DAPT regardless of HBR by ARC-HBR criteria, with similar magnitudes of therapy effect for HBR and non-HBR patients (p-interaction=0.400). Results were consistent by PRECISE-DAPT score (p-interaction=0.178). Conclusions: In ACS patients treated with DESs, ticagrelor monotherapy after 3-month DAPT was associated with lower rate of adverse clinical outcomes regardless of HBR, with similar magnitudes of therapy effect between HBR and non-HBR.

      • Unique Features of Naive CD8<sup>+</sup> T Cell Activation by IL-2

        <P>IL-2 has a pervasive influence on the immune system and dictates the survival and differentiation of multiple T cell subsets, including CD4 regulatory T cells, CD4 Th cells, and CD8 memory cells. IL-2 is synthesized by T cells during the early stages of the immune response and promotes T cell expansion and effector cell generation after initial activation via TCR signaling. Based on studies with activated T cell lines maintained in vitro, IL-2 is known to activate multiple signaling pathways that show considerable overlap with the pathways elicited via the TCR. In this paper, we have examined IL-2 signaling under TCR-independent conditions, namely by culturing purified resting naive CD8 T cells with IL-2 in the absence of Ag or APC. Under these conditions, we show in this study that IL-2 elicits a unique pattern of signaling associated with strong lymphocyte-specific protein tyrosine kinase/JAK3-dependent activation of the PI3K/AKT pathway with little or no involvement of STAT5, NF-κB, or the calcineurin/NFAT pathways. Such signaling induces marked proliferation associated with rapid and selective expression of eomesodermin but not T-bet and differentiation into long-lived central memory cells after adoptive transfer.</P>

      • Visible light-emission from Eu-doped ZnAl layered-double hydroxide

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>We report on the evolution of the emission and chemical properties of Eu-doped ZnAl-Layered double hydroxide (LDH) with variation of Eu doping concentration during the hydrothermal growth. With increasing Eu source concentration, the morphologies of the ZnAl-LDHs became denser and more closely packed while maintaining the thickness of each plate. As the Eu source concentration increased to 10wt%, specific emission from the doped Eu<SUP>3+</SUP> ions was enhanced in the photoluminescence spectra. However, the peak intensity decreased when the concentration increased further to 20 and 30wt%. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy results showed an abnormal increase of the Eu<SUP>2+</SUP>/Eu<SUP>3+</SUP> ratio in the LDHs with increasing Eu source concentration, which suppressed the emission from the Eu<SUP>3+</SUP> electronic transitions.</P>

        Growth and optical band gap of CdAl-layered double hydroxide thin structures on rigid substrate

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>We report the optical and chemical properties of a CdAl-layered double hydroxide (LDH) grown by a low-temperature hydrothermal method on rigid substrates. Structural and chemical investigations showed that the CdAl-LDH structures were formed as the source concentration was increased up to 45 mM. Mixed phases of CdO, Cd(OH)<SUB>2</SUB>, and CdAl-LDH structures were formed when the source concentration was less than 30 mM. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy indicated that the Cd and Al metal ions were present in the LDHs as divalent and trivalent ionic states, respectively. Optical investigations by UV–vis spectroscopy indicated that the CdAl-LDH had a direct band gap structure with an energy band gap of 3.01 eV.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> CdAl-layered double hydroxides are grown on Si substrate by hydrothermal method. </LI> <LI> Growth mechanism of the CdAl-layered double hydroxides is investigated. </LI> <LI> Band gap energy of the CdAl-layered double hydroxide is found to be 3.01 eV. </LI> </UL> </P>

        Background: Waist circumference (WC) is a valuable component of metabolic syndrome. Waist circumference is related to insulin resistance (IR) and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). The purpose of this study was to examine the association between waist circumference and IR , NAFLD in apparently healthy Korean subjects. Methods: After exclusion criteria, 9159 (5052men, 4107 women) subjects who participated in comprehensive health checkup program enrolled this study. Cross-sectional study was performed. IR was evaluated by the homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) and IR was considered with HOMA-IR>2. NAFLD was presented by ultrasonographic finding. We considered alanine aminotransferase (ALT) elevated if above the upper normal limit (>40IU/L in men, >35IU/L in women). Logistic regression analysis was performed to evaluate the odds ratio in NAFLD, IR and ALT according to the categorized levels of the waist circumference. Results: NAFLD was found in 27.9% (82.6% men, 17.4% women) of the subjects. IR was 17.2% (68.1% men, 31.9% women), elevated ALT was 10% (83% men, 17% women) of subject. After adjusted for confounding factor, the prevalence of NAFLD, IR and elevated ALT was significant associated with increasing quartile of waist circumference. (highest quartile in NAFLD; OR 15.539 [95% CI 12.687-19.033] in men, 23.918[95% CI 23.918 - 99.288] in women, p<0.001), (highest quartile in IR ; OR 17.576[95% CI 13.283-23.255] in men, 11.078[95% CI 7.813-15.708] in women, p<0.001) (highest quartile in elevated ALT ; OR 7.952[95% CI 6.046-10.459] in men, 8.487[95% CI 4.679-15.395] in women p<0.001) Conclusion: Waist circumference is contribute to IR and NAFLD in apparent healthy Korean subjects. So waist circumference may be a most important factor of developing IR and NAFLD.
