      • SERS study of surface plasmon resonance induced carrier movement in Au@Cu2O core-shell nanoparticles

        Chen, Lei,Zhang, Fan,Deng, Xin-Yu,Xue, Xiangxin,Wang, Li,Sun, Yantao,Feng, Jing-Dong,Zhang, Yongjun,Wang, Yaxin,Jung, Young Mee Elsevier 2018 Spectrochimica acta. Part A, Molecular and biomole Vol.189 No.-

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>A plasmon induced carrier movement enhanced mechanism of surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) was investigated using a charge-transfer (CT) enhancement mechanism. Here, we designed a strategy to study SERS in Au@Cu2O nanoshell nanoparticles with different shell thicknesses. Among the plasmonically coupled nanostructures, Au spheres with Cu2O shells have been of special interest due to their ultrastrong electromagnetic fields and controllable carrier transfer properties, which are useful for SERS. Au@Cu2O nanoshell nanoparticles (NPs) with shell thicknesses of 48–56nm are synthesized that exhibit high SERS activity. This high activity originates from plasmonic-induced carrier transfer from Au@Cu2O to 4-mercaptobenzoic acid (MBA). The CT transition from the valence band (VB) of Cu2O to the second excited π-π* transition of MBA, and is of b2 electronic symmetry, which was enhanced significantly. The Herzberg-Teller selection rules were employed to predict the observed enhanced b2 symmetry modes. The system constructed in this study combines the long-range electromagnetic effect of Au NPs, localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) of the Au@Cu2O nanoshell, and the CT contribution to assist in understanding the SERS mechanism based on LSPR-induced carrier movement in metal/semiconductor nanocomposites.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> We designed a shell-dependent Au@Cu2O nanoshell for SERS study. </LI> <LI> SERS contribution enables us to understand the possible enhancement of hybrid nanostructures. </LI> <LI> LSPR-induced carrier movement in Au@Cu2O nanocomposites. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical Abstract</B></P> <P>We designed the shell-dependent Au@Cu2O core-shell nanoparticles (NPs) for SERS study. Generic Constructions for Strong Designated Verifier Signature

Feng, Deng-Guo,Xu, Jing,Chen, Wei-Dong Korea Information Processing Society 2011 Journal of information processing systems Vol.7 No.1

A designated verifier signature is a special type of digital signature, which convinces a designated verifier that she has signed a message in such a way that the designated verifier cannot transfer the signature to a third party. A strong designated verifier signature scheme enhances the privacy of the signer such that no one but the designated verifier can verify the signer's signatures. In this paper we present two generic frame works for constructing strong designated verifier signature schemes from any secure ring signature scheme and any deniable one-pass authenticated key exchange protocol, respectively. Compared with similar protocols, the instantiations of our construction achieve improved efficiency.

Isolation and Identification of Prepubertal Buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) Spermatogonial Stem Cells

        Feng, Wanyou,Chen, Shibei,Do, Dagiang,Liu, Qinyou,Deng, Yanfei,Lei, Xiaocan,Luo, Chan,Huang, Ben,Shi, Deshun Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2016 Animal Bioscience Vol.29 No.10

Isolation and culture of spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs) are attractive for production of genetic modified offspring. In the present study, buffalo spermatogonial stem-like cells were isolated, cultured and expression pattern of different germ cell marker genes were determined. To recover spermatogonia, testes from age 3 to 7 months of buffalo were decapsulated, and seminiferous tubules were enzymatically dissociated. Two types of cells, immature sertoli cell and type A spermatogonia were observed in buffalo testes in this stage. Germ cell marker genes, OCT3/4 (Pou5f1), THY-1, c-kit, PGP9.5 (UCHL-1) and Dolichos biflorus agglutinin, were determined to be expressed both in mRNA and protein level by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction and immunostaining in buffalo testes and buffalo spermatogonial stem-like cells, respectively. In the following, when the isolated buffalo buffalo spermatogonial stem-like cells were cultured in the medium supplemented 2.5% fetal bovine serum and 40 ng/mL glial cell-derived neurotrophic factor medium, SSCs proliferation efficiency and colony number were significantly improved than those of other groups (p<0.05). These findings may help in isolation and establishing long term in vitro culture system for buffalo spermatogonial stem-like cells, and accelerating the generation of genetic modified buffaloes.

      • Colorectal Cancer Screening in High-risk Populations: a Survey of Cognition among Medical Professionals in Jiangsu, China

        Chen, Yao-Sheng,Xu, Song-Xin,Ding, Yan-Bing,Huang, Xin-En,Deng, Bin,Gao, Xue-Feng,Wu, Da-Cheng Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.11

To investigate the cognition of medical professionals when following screening guidelines for colorectal cancer (CRC) and barriers to CRC screening. Between February 2012 and December 2012, an anonymous survey with 19-questions based on several CRC screening guidelines was randomly administered to gastroenterologists, oncologists, general surgeons, and general practitioners in Jiangsu, a developed area in China where the incidence of CRC is relatively high. The average cognitive score was 26.4% among 924 respondents. Gastroenterologists and oncologists had higher scores compared with others (p<0.01 and p<0.01, respectively); doctor of medicine (M.D.) with or without doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.) or holders with bachelor of medical science (BMS) achieved higher scores than other lower degree holders (P<0.05). More importantly, doctors who finished CRC related education in the past year achieved higher scores than the others (p<0.001). The most commonly listed barriers to referring high-risk patients for CRC screening were "anxiety about colonoscopy without anesthesia", "lack of awareness of the current guidelines" and "lack of insurance reimbursement". Lack of cognition was detected among doctors when following CRC screening guidelines for high-risk populations. Educational programs should be recommended to improve their cognition and reduce barriers to CRC screening.

Lowering Dielectric Loss and AC Conductivity of Polymer/HfC Composite Dielectric Films via Insulating Montmorillonite Barrier

        Peiyao Chen,Binghe Chen,Ben Qin,Jiangqiong Wang,Qihuang Deng,Yefeng Feng 한국고분자학회 2021 Macromolecular Research Vol.29 No.9

Present work aimed at studying the effect of montmorillonite (MMT) on dielectric and conductive properties of composites based on polymer/hafnium carbide (HfC) mother composite system. Polymer/HfC/MMT composite films based on double-filler modification strategy were prepared by solution cast. To obtain control group, binary polymer/HfC composite films were prepared. MMT ceramic had excellent insulation property, which could suppress interface leakage current and thus reduce dielectric loss of composites. Compared with binary system, ternary system could show better overall electric features including mildly reduced permittivity, obviously reduced dielectric loss and conductivity. Optimized ternary composite bearing 3 wt% HfC and 3 wt% MMT exhibited a high permittivity of 34, low dielectric loss of 0.33 and low conductivity of 5.5 × 10-7 S m-1 at 100 Hz. This research might enable the fabrication of advanced composite dielectrics.

A prospective randomized multicenter trial for lymphadenectomy in early- stage ovarian cancer: LOVE study

        Ting Deng,Kaijiang Liu,Liang Chen,Xiao-jun Chen,Hua Wen Li,Hongyan Guo,Huijiao Zhang,Libing Xiang,Xin Feng,Xiaoyu Wang,Hextan Y. S. Ngan,Jianguo Zhao,Dongling Zou,Qing Liu,Jihong Liu 대한부인종양학회 2023 Journal of Gynecologic Oncology Vol.34 No.3

Background: The Lymphadenectomy in Ovarian Neoplasms (LION) study revealed that systemic lymphadenectomy did not bring survival benefit for advanced ovarian cancer patients with clinically normal lymph nodes and was associated with a higher incidence of operative complications. However, there is no consensus on whether lymphadenectomy has survival benefit or not in early epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). Methods: We designed the LOVE study, a multicenter, randomized controlled, phase III trial to compare the efficacy and safety of comprehensive staging surgery with or without lymphadenectomy in stages IA-IIB EOC and fallopian tube carcinomas (FTC). The hypothesis is that the oncological outcomes provided by comprehensive staging surgery without lymphadenectomy are non-inferior to those of conventional completion staging surgery in early-stage EOC and FTC patients who have indications for post-operative adjuvant chemotherapy. Patients assigned to experimental group will undergo comprehensive staging surgery, but lymphadenectomy. Patients assigned to comparative group will undergo completion staging surgery including systematic pelvic and para-aortic lymphadenectomy. All subjects will receive 3–6 cycles of standard adjuvant chemotherapy. Major inclusion criteria are pathologic confirmed stage IA-IIB EOC or FTC, and patients have indications for adjuvant chemotherapy either confirmed by intraoperative fast frozen section or previous pathology after an incomplete staging surgery. Major exclusion criteria are non-epithelial tumors and low-grade serous carcinoma. Patients with severe rectum involvement which lead to partial rectum resection will be excluded. The sample size is 656 subjects. Primary endpoint is disease-free survival.

Chloroplast genomic comparison of two sister species Allium macranthum and A. fasciculatum provides valuable insights into adaptive evolution

        Hao Li,DengFeng Xie,Jun‑Pei Chen,Song‑Dong Zhou,Xing‑Jin He 한국유전학회 2020 Genes & Genomics Vol.42 No.5

Background Allium macranthum and Allium fasciculatum are two sister species and their natural populations are separated by high mountains and deep valleys with exact opposite habitat. The chloroplast genome in angiosperms has showed useful for investigating plant evolution and systematic studies. Objective Comparative analysis of these genomes revealed potential markers and phylogenetic analysis, and discuss the influence of positive selected sites on adaptive evolution. Methods Here, we sequenced the complete chloroplast genomes of these two species and analyzed the repeat sequences components, nucleotide diversity, selection pressure and the phylogeny relationships with related species. Results A typical quadripartite structure was detected with a genome size changed from 152,148 to 152,931 bp. We identified 67 and 79 simple sequence repeats in A. macranthum and A. fasciculatum, in which the mono-nucleotide repeats A/T possess the highest percentage. Three mutational hotspots (rpl32, rps16 and matK) at the SSC and LSC regions were observed, which showed remarkably higher Pi value (> 0.03). Additionally, eight genes (rpoA, atpF, cemA, rps4, ccsA, rpoC2, rpl14 and clpP) exhibited elevated pairwise Ka/Ks ratios in alpine species. Phylogenetic analyses based on the CDS sequences and the whole complete genomes showed same topologies with high support, and A. macranthum was closely clustered with A. fasciculatum within the fourteen Amaryllidaceae species. Conclusion Their coding proteins of these genes often functioned in chloroplast protein synthesis, gene transcription, energy transformation and regulation and photosynthesis. These results provide valuable insights into the alpine species adaptation and evolution.
