For an endomorphism $\alpha$ of a ring R, we introduce the weak $\alpha$-skew Armendariz rings which are a generalization of the $\alpha$-skew Armendariz rings and the weak Armendariz rings, and investigate their properties. Moreover, we prove that a ring R is weak $\alpha$-skew Armendariz if and only if for any n, the $n\;{\times}\;n$ upper triangular matrix ring $T_n(R)$ is weak $\bar{\alpha}$-skew Armendariz, where $\bar{\alpha}\;:\;T_n(R)\;{\rightarrow}\;T_n(R)$ is an extension of $\alpha$ If R is reversible and $\alpha$ satisfies the condition that ab = 0 implies $a{\alpha}(b)=0$ for any a, b $\in$ R, then the ring R[x]/($x^n$) is weak $\bar{\alpha}$-skew Armendariz, where ($x^n$) is an ideal generated by $x^n$, n is a positive integer and $\bar{\alpha}\;:\;R[x]/(x^n)\;{\rightarrow}\;R[x]/(x^n)$ is an extension of $\alpha$. If $\alpha$ also satisfies the condition that ${\alpha}^t\;=\;1$ for some positive integer t, the ring R[x] (resp, R[x; $\alpha$) is weak $\bar{\alpha}$-skew (resp, weak) Armendariz, where $\bar{\alpha}\;:\;R[x]\;{\rightarrow}\;R[x]$ is an extension of $\alpha$.

Root-knot nematode disease is a widespread and catastrophic disease of tobacco. However, little is known about the relationship between rhizosphere bacterial community and root-knot nematode disease. This study used 16S rRNA gene sequencing and PICRUSt to assess bacterial community structure and function changes in rhizosphere soil from Meloidogyne incognita-infected tobacco plants. We studied the rhizosphere bacterial community structure of M. incognita-infected and uninfected tobacco plants through a paired comparison design in two regions of tobacco planting area, Yuxi and Jiuxiang of Yunnan Province, southwest China. According to the findings, M. incognita infection can alter the bacterial population in the soil. Uninfested soil has more operational taxonomic unit numbers and richness than infested soil. Principal Coordinate Analysis revealed clear separations between bacterial communities from infested and uninfested soil, indicating that different infection conditions resulted in significantly different bacterial community structures in soils. Firmicutes was prevalent in infested soil, but Chloroflexi and Acidobacteria were prevalent in uninfested soil. Sphingomonas, Streptomyces, and Bradyrhizobium were the dominant bacteria genera, and their abundance were higher in infested soil. By PICRUSt analysis, some metabolism-related functions and signal transduction functions of the rhizosphere bacterial community in the M. incognita infection-tobacco plants had a higher relative abundance than those uninfected. As a result, rhizosphere soils from tobacco plants infected with M. incognita showed considerable bacterial community structure and function alterations.

It is very difficult to apply non-dispersive infrared sensor to detect the indoor air quality and maintain very low zero and temperature drift over long periods. Frequently manual zero setting and calibration are required. To solve the issues of zero and temperature drift of non-dispersive infrared sensor, a software model based on zero gas intensity, reference channels intensity, standard temperature, environmental temperature, temperature drift coefficient, etc. has been established to automatically modify and compensate the zero and temperature drift existing in the long-term continuous operation of the infrared sensor. The test result and long-term application indicate the detection precision of the instrument is less than 5%F.S in various changing environmental conditions. The average detection precision of carbon dioxide has been improved from 9.26% before comprehensive processing to 1.23% after processing, while the average detection precision of methane has been improved from 10.61% before comprehensive processing to 0.70% after processing. As a result, the disadvantages existing in many gas detectors including poor stability and short calibration cycle have been overcome, thus effectively improving the detection precision and stability of the instrument and reducing the maintenance cost.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Hierarchical α-Fe<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> nanotubes are facially synthesized via a sacrificial template strategy without chemical etching, and are then employed as the anode material for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). FeC<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>4</SUB>·2H<SUB>2</SUB>O nanorods are used as the sacrificial template to prepare nanotubes consisting of numerous nanosheets. The resultant hierarchical hollow structures possess an inter-diameter range of 400–600 nm and exhibit a large specific surface area. The as-prepared hierarchical nanotubes demonstrate remarkable improvement in cycling stability (500 cycles) and a reversible Li<SUP>+</SUP> storage capacity as high as 764.2 mAh g<SUP>−1</SUP> at a current density of 0.5 A g<SUP>−1</SUP>. Background/Aims: Several studies have demonstrated that serum interferon-γ-inducible-protein-10 (IP-10) levels at baseline and single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) near the IL28B gene were associated with viral response and treatment outcomes. Our purpose was to assess the combination of pretreatment IP-10 levels with IL28B SNPs as predictors of treatment response to pegylated interferon α-2a plus ribavirin in patients infected with genotype 1 hepatitis C virus in China. Methods: Seventy-two patients with chronic hepatitis C without fibrosis/cirrhosis were enrolled in the study. The virologic parameters and baseline serum IP-10 levels were determined. IL-28B genotypes were determined by sequencing. Results: In this cohort, serum baseline IP-10 levels lower than 426.7 pg/mL could predict rapid virological response/ sustained virological response (SVR). Patients carrying favorable IL28B SNP genotypes had higher SVRs than did those carrying unfavorable variants (IL28B rs12979860, p=0.002; IL28B rs8099917, p=0.020). Combining both baseline IP- 10 and IL28B SNPs could improve the prediction of SVR in favorable allele carriers of IL28B, rs12979860 CC and rs8099917 TT. Serum baseline IP-10 levels and IL28B genotypes were independent predictors of SVR. Conclusions: Our study shows that the combination of baseline serum IP-10 levels and the determination of IL28B SNPs increase the predictability of SVR rates in this cohort. T-cell internal antigen-1 (TIA-1) has roles in regulating alternative pre-mRNA splicing, mRNA translation, and stress granule (SG) formation in human cells. As an evolutionarily conserved response to environmental stress, SGs have been reported in various species. However, SG formation in chicken cells and the role of chicken TIA-1 (cTIA-1) in SG assembly has not been elucidated. In the present study, we cloned cTIA-1 and showed that it facilitates the assembly of canonical SGs in both human and chicken cells. Overexpression of the chicken prion-related domain (cPRD) of cTIA-1 that bore an N-terminal green fluorescent protein (GFP) tag (pntGFP-cPRD) or Flag tag (pFlag-cPRD) induced the production of typical SGs. However, C-terminal GFP-tagged cPRD induced notably large cytoplasmic granules that were devoid of endogenous G3BP1 and remained stable when exposed to cycloheximide, indicating that these were not typical SGs, and that the pntGFP tag influences cPRD localization. Finally, endogenous cTIA-1 was recruited to SGs in chicken cells and tissues under environmental stress. Taken together, our study provide evidence that cTIA-1 has a role in canonical SG formation in chicken cells and tissues. Our results also indicate that cPRD is necessary for SG aggregation.

To understand the spatial distribution and vertical evolution of sediments in the Pearl River Estuary in recent decades, two sediment cores (80 cm long) from the western and eastern areas of the outer Lingdingyang Bay (LDB) were analyzed in terms of grain size (GZs) and organic matter content. The results showed that the sediment profiles of the two cores could be divided into two time sections with clear changes in grain size. The core in the western region showed a coarse-to-fine trend from the lower to the upper section, whereas that in the eastern region showed a fine-to-coarse trend. Parametric correlations of the cores suggest that different sediment sources and hydrodynamic environments resulted in opposite sediment trends in the two cores. Based on some reported sedimentation rates, the GZs of the western and eastern cores responded well to changes in the average annual fluvial sediment load and tidal range in the western and eastern areas of the LDB, respectively. The increase in grain size and decrease in sorting value in the upper section of the two cores can provide evidence of a strengthened tidal current in recent years. Our results can provide a baseline for future studies on the responses of marine environment to anthropogenic activities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
