        Artificial intelligence enabled smart machining and machine tools

        Artificial intelligence (AI) in machine tools offers diverse advantages, including learning and optimizing machining processes, compensating errors, saving energy, and preventing failures. Various AI techniques have been proposed and applied; however, many challenges still exist that inhibit the use of AI for machining tasks. This paper deals with different types and usage of AI technologies in machining operations such as predictive modelling, parameter optimization and control, chatter stability, tool wear, and energy conservation. We discuss the challenges of AI technologies, such as data quality, transferability, explainability, and suggest future directions to overcome them.

        Isolation, Physicochemical Properties and Toxicities of Territrem A' and B'

        We have isolated two new metabolites of territrem, designated as territrem A`^* (TRA`; C_(28)H_(30)O_(10) and B`(TRB`; C<sub>29</sub>H<sub>34</sub>O_(10)) from chloroform extract of rice culture of Aspergillus terreus 23-1, using the same isolation procedure as that for territrem A, B and C(TRA, TRB, TRC). The present isolation procedure gave about 5 ㎎ of TRA` and 10 ㎎ of TRB` from 4 ㎏ of rice culture per batch. Analysis of the high resolution mass spectrum showed that the molecular composition of TRA` and TRB` are C_(28)H_(30)O_(10) and C<sub>29</sub>H<sub>34</sub>O_(10) respectively, Some results of physicochemical properties were presented in this paper. Single crystal X-ray diffractometry of TRB` showed that the three dimensional structure of TRB` has not changed significantly from that of TRB (C<sub>29</sub>H<sub>34</sub>O<sub>9</sub>), except for the insertion of one oxygen atom into TRB to make additional pyran in the E-ring. It is also suggested that the aromatic moiety of TRA` is similar to that of TRA (C_(28)H_(30)O<sub>9</sub>) and the rest non-aromatic portions resemble to those of TRB`. The tremorgenic activity, lethality and inhibitory effect on acetylcholine esterase of TRA` and TRB` are greatly reduced comparing to that of TRA and TRB.

      • A Mn(iv)-peroxo complex in the reactions with proton donors

        <P>Protons play an important role in promoting O-O or M-O bond cleavage of metal-peroxo complexes. Treatment of side-on O2-bound [PPN][Mn<SUP>IV</SUP>(<SUP>TMS</SUP>PS3)(O2)] (1, PPN = bis(triphenylphosphine)iminium and <SUP>TMS</SUP>PS3H3 = 2,2′,2′′-trimercapto-3,3′,3′′-tris(trimethylsilyl)triphenylphosphine) with perchloric acid (HClO4) in the presence of PR3 (R = phenyl or <I>p</I>-tolyl) results in the formation of neutral five-coordinate Mn<SUP>III</SUP>(OPR3)(<SUP>TMS</SUP>PS3) complexes (R = phenyl, 2a; <I>p</I>-tolyl, 2b), which are confirmed by X-ray crystallography. Isotope labelling experiments demonstrate that the oxygen atom in the phosphine oxide product derives from the peroxo ligand of 1. Reactions of 1 with weak proton donors, such as phenylthiol, phenol, substituted phenol and methanol, are also investigated to explore the reactivity of the Mn<SUP>IV</SUP>-peroxo complex, leading to the isolation of a series of five-coordinate [Mn<SUP>III</SUP>(L)(<SUP>TMS</SUP>PS3)]<SUP>−</SUP> complexes (L = phenylthiolate, phenolate or methoxide). Mechanistic aspects of the reactions of the Mn<SUP>IV</SUP>-peroxo complex with proton donors are discussed as well.</P>

        Rationally Designed Carbon Fiber@NiCo2O4@Polypyrrole Core-Shell Nanowire Array for High-Performance Supercapacitor Electrodes

        The composite supercapacitor electrodes were rationally fabricated by facile electrochemical deposition of polypyrrole (PPy) on NiCo2O4 nanowire arrays which were grown radially on carbon fiber (CF). When used as electrodes in supercapacitors, the composite nanostructures demonstrated prominent electrochemical performances with a high areal capacitance (1.44 F/cm2 at a current density of 2 mA/cm2 ), a good rate capability (80.5% when the current density increases from 2 mA/cm2 to 20 mA/cm2 ), and a good cycling ability (85% of the initial specific capacitance remained after 5000 cycles at a high current density of 10 mA/cm2 ). The excellent electrochemical performance of NiCo2O4@PPy nanostructures can be mainly ascribed to the good electrical conductivity of PPy, the enhanced adherent force between electrode materials and CF to hold the electrode fragments together by means of NiCo2O4 nanowires, the short ion diffusion pathway in ordered porous NiCo2O4 nanowires and the three-dimensional nanostructures.

        STRICTA(침 임상연구에서 중재 보고를 위한 표준) 개정판: CONSORT Statement의 확충안

        Objectives and methods: The Standards for Reporting Interventions in Clinical Trials of Acupuncture (STRICTA) were published in five journals in 2001 and 2002. These guidelines, in the form of a checklist and explanations for use by authors and journal editors, were designed to improve reporting of acupuncture trials, particularly the interventions, thereby facilitating their interpretation and replication. Subsequent reviews of the application and impact of STRICTA have highlighted the value of STRICTA as well as scope for improvements and revision. To manage the revision process a collaboration between the STRICTA Group, the CONSORT Group, and the Chinese Cochrane Centre was developed in 2008. An expert panel with 47 participants was convened that provided electronic feedback on a revised draft of the checklist. At a subsequent face-to-face meeting in Freiburg, a group of 21 participants further revised the STRICTA checklist and planned dissemination. Results: The new STRICTA checklist, which is an official extension of CONSORT, includes six items and 17 sub-items. These set out reporting guidelines for the acupuncture rationale, the details of needling, the treatment regimen, other components of treatment, the practitioner background, and the control or comparator interventions. In addition, and as part of this revision process, the explanations for each item have been elaborated, and examples of good reporting for each item are provided. In addition, the word "controlled" in STRICTA is replaced by "clinical", to indicate that STRICTA is applicable to a broad range of clinical evaluation designs, including uncontrolled outcome studies and case reports. Conclusions: It is intended that the revised STRICTA, in conjunction with both the main CONSORT Statement and extension for nonpharmacologic treatment, will raise the quality of reporting of clinical trials of acupuncture.

      • 헬무트 콜의 독일 통일 정책이 한반도 통일 정책에 주는 시사점 연구

        본 논문에서는 독일 통일 당시의 동서독 통일 과정과 정책을 살펴보고, 그를 통해 남한의 통일정책에 대한 시사점을 알아보는데 목적이 있다. 헬무트 콜의 10조항 통일정책은 독일의 통일에 중대한 영향을 주었다. 동독과의 상호주의적인 교류를 강조하고, 동독의 체제 전환을 전제로 모든 통일국가의 형태에 대한 가능성을 열어두었으며 독일의 통일을 유럽의 평화라는 목적을 실현하기 위한 수단으로 사용함으로써 주변 국가들을 설득시켰다. 헬무트 콜의 통일정책에 동독 국민들의 민주화에 대한 열망과 서독의 경제적 지원이 뒷받침되었기에 독일 통일은 가능했다. 독일에 비하면 현재 한반도가 처해 있는 조건은 훨씬 불리하다. 경제적으로나 외교적으로도 취약하고, 서로의 이데올로기에 대한 폐쇄성과 왜곡된 이해에도 불구하고 민족을 앞세운 감성적인 통일론이 남북한 모두를 지배하고 있다. 독일 통일이 실현되고 20년이 지난 오늘날 독일 통일은 완성된 것이 아니라 여전히 진행 중이다. 통일 부작용에는 여러 가지 원인이 있겠지만 가장 큰 원인은 동독의 실상을 정확히 몰랐기 때문에 그에 대한 정확한 준비를 하지 못했다는 것이다. 독일의 통일은 통일이 결코 짧은 시간에 완수할 수 있는 것이 아님을 보여준다. 하지만 통일의 과정은 독일의 경우와 같이 급속히 진행될 가능성이 있다. 지금 우리 사회는 통일에 대비하여 어떠한 준비를 하고 있는가는 자문해볼 필요가 있다. This paper will investigate the implications of the South Korean policies of unification through analyzing the policies and process of unification of East and West Germany. Helmut Kohl's "10 Punkte Programm" had a great influence in the unification of Germany. Frist, it was emphasized the reciprocal interaction with the East Germany. Second it was opened the possibility of the forms of all of the unifying nations with East Germany's regime change as a precondition. Third, it was convinced the surrounding nations that the unification of Germany could be the path towards the European peace. The unification of Germany was possible thanks to the East Germany's people's passion for democracy and the financial aid of the West Germany along with Helmut Kohl's policies of unification. Compared to Germany, the Korean Peninsula is in much worse conditions. This is because in both of the Koreas dominates a sensitive belief of unification based on nationalism, despite the diplomatic and economic weakness and distorted understanding about each other. Even after twenty years after the unification of Germany, the true integration is still in progress. There may be several reasons for the side effects of unification, but the biggest reason is that the realities of DDR were not understood accurately and were not perpared for properly. Germany's unification shows that unification can't be attained in a short span of time. However, the process of unification might occur rapidly just like it happened in Germany. It is important to reflect on what has our society done in order to prepare for our unification.
