A Basic Study on Leaf and Stem Production of Angelica acutiloba
Choi,Seong-Kyu,Yun,Kyeong-won,Chon,Sang-Uk,Lee,Jong-Ill,Seo,Young-Nam,Seo,Kyoung-Sun,Choi,Kyeong-Ju 한국자원식물학회 2004 Plant Resources Vol.7 No.3
This study was conducted to develop effective production system in greenhouse for leaves and stems of Angelica acutiloba by using connect pots in 2003 and 2004. Seed germination rate and plant biomass of Angelica acutiloba collected in 2004 were higher than those harvested in 2003. Germination rate of Angelica acutiloba seeds collected in 2003 was 10%, while germination rate of seeds collected in 2004 was above 90%. Especially, plant growth and yield of Angelica acutiloba grown in connect pots sized with 4×4×5cm(length×width×height) were the highest. These results indicate that leaf and stem production of Angelica acutiloba can be improved by using connect pots and optimizing seed collecting time in greenhouse.

The inhibition of Interleukin-1beta (IL-$1{\beta}$) is of substantial interest for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. Using an in vitro assay with RAW 264.7 cells, oxo-acetic acid 2-ethoxy-4-(3-hydroxy-2-oxopropyl) phenyl ester (1) was isolated from the roots of Paeonia suffruticosa Andrews as an inhibitor of IL-$1{\beta}$ with an $IC_{50}$ value of 56 ${\mu}M$. Compound 1 is a novel phenylesteric compound from P. suffruticosa Andrews. Compound 1 was shown to inhibit the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines in RAW 264.7 cells. Thus, a possible new action of novel compound is provided explaining the anti-rheumatoid arthritic properties of P. suffruticosa Andrews.

Trachelospermum jasminoides (Apocynaceae) has pharmacological effects that include anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-viral activities, which have been observed from various studies. Of these pharmacological effects, the anti-inflammatory capacity of compounds from T. jasminoides is not yet known exactly. In this study, we investigated the compound that can be used for the suppression of lipopolysacchaide (LPS) stimulated inflammatory responses in macrophages among the five isolated compounds. β-sitosterol-β-D-glucoside (1) was found to reduce nitric oxide (NO) production from LPS-induced RAW 264.7 cells the most. In addition, compound 1 strongly inhibited the interleukin 6 (IL-6) activities of stimulated macrophages. Treatment of RAW 264.7 cells with compound 1 reduced secretion of inflammatory elements including tumour necrosis factor - alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin 1 beta (IL-1β). Thus, compound 1 may be a useful candidate for the development of new drugs to treat endotoxemia and inflammation accompanied by the overproduction of NO.

Holoprosencephaly is a rare malformation complex or development defect including different degrees of incomplete cleavages of the embryonic prosencephalon and varying degrees of the midface defects, resulting from the defect of prechordal mesoderm, migrating forward into the area anterior to the notochord during the third week of fetal development. Early antenatal diagnosis of holoprosencephaly is important to find out its severity, to predict its prognosis, and to determine proper management according to its prognosis and severity. The possibility of early antenatal diagnosis of holoprosencephaly by ultrasound has been suggested, but occasionally missed and rarely confirmed. We present one case of lobar holoprosencephaly, diagnosed postnatally and one case of alobar holoprosencephaly, diagnosed antenatally in our hospitals.

Vanadium-doped bismuth lanthanum titanate lead-free Bi3:25La0:75(TixVx)3O12 (x = 0 0.10;BLTV-x) ceramics have been fabricated by using a solid-state reaction method. BLTV-0.01 ceramics exhibit a relatively high electromechanical coupling factor (kt = 20.2 %) and high remnant polarization (Pr = 11.7 C/cm2). Vanadium substitution for titanium-ion site can eectively enhance the resistivity by one order of magnitude(1.74 1011cm). A small amount of vanadium substitution for titanium site on BLT can signicantly reduce the space charge density and the in uence of domain pinning, which would be responsible for the improvement in the ferroelectricity and piezoelectricity.

Fast Hardening Track has the advantage of reducing the maintenance and repair cost , a method of replacing an existing gravel ballast track with concrete track. FHT is necessary to check the allowable stress applied to another country. Also FHT should be considered for allowing the tensile stress to the temperature due to plain concrete slab structures. This study is the selection of a temperature change, temperature gradient changes in order to analyze the allowable stress of the fast hardening track in worse conditions. By performing a finite element analysis attempts to analyze the stress on the fast hardening track.
A Brief Review on Relaxor Ferroelectrics and Selected Issues in Lead-Free Relaxors
Chang Won Ahn,Chang-Hyo Hong,Byung-Yul Choi,Hwang-Pill Kim,Hyoung-Su Han,황영훈,Wook Jo,Ke Wang,Jing-Feng Li,Jae-Shin Lee,Ill Won Kim 한국물리학회 2016 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.68 No.12
Relaxor ferroelectricity is one of the most widely investigated but the least understood material classes in the condensed matter physics. This is largely due to the lack of experimental tools that decisively confirm the existing theoretical models. In spite of the diversity in the models, they share the core idea that the observed features in relaxors are closely related to localized chemical heterogeneity. Given this, this review attempts to overview the existing models of importance chronologically, from the diffuse phase transition model to the random-field model and to show how the core idea has been reflected in them to better shape our insight into the nature of relaxor-related phenomena. Then, the discussion will be directed to how the models of a common consensus, developed with the so-called canonical relaxors such as Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3 (PMN) and (Pb, La)(Zr, Ti)O3 (PLZT), are compatible with phenomenological explanations for the recently identified relaxors such as (Bi1/2Na1/2)TiO3 (BNT)-based lead-free ferroelectrics. This review will be finalized with a discussion on the theoretical aspects of recently introduced 0−3 and 2−2 ferroelectric/relaxor composites as a practical tool for strain engineering.
