HHV-8 virus is known to be associated with Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) in HIV seropositive patients and its seroprevalence has geographic difference, In South Korea, incidence of KS is low not only in general population but also in HIV patients compared to other countries, It is speculated that low seroprevalence of HHV-8 has contributed to the low incidence of KS in South Korea. We examined the seroprevalence of anti HHV-8 IgG of HIV seronegative health care workers in one University hospital. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) was used for diagnosis. One person (0.6% 1/164) was seropositive, six were equivocal (3.7%,6/164) and 157 people were seronegative (95.73%, 157/164). This study revealed that seroprevalence of HHV-8 in general population was. low in South Korea. Further studies are needed to be carried out to evaluate the low HHV-8 seroprevalence in Korea.

韓國 信用割富의 巨視經濟效果에 대한 計量分析

The interest rate is the adjustment mechanism in loan markets. An equilibrium has seldom acquired in loan markets because of characteristics of loan markets such as default risk, borrower classification, customer relationships, and imperfect imformation. Credit rationing can be defined as a situation in which there exists an excess demand for loans because quoted loan interest rates are below the Walrasian market clearing level. Generally, firms which request loans for the investment act as promary borrowers in loan markets. The availability of credit affects the amount of investment. So, credit rationing affects macroeconomic varibles through the investment of firms. The purpose of this study is to analyze the macroeconomic effects of credit rationing. For this prupose, we have examined the effects of credit rationing on real GNP, price level, interest rate of private bonds, and investment. We have tried stationarity of variables with unit root test and cointegration test. Then, we have applied vector error correction medel to variables which have stationary relation.

Drosophila melanogaster에 있어서 Methyl methanesulfonate의 영향에 대한 생리유전학적 연구

Methyl methanesulfonate (MMS) was fed to Drosophila melanogaster in order to investigate its toxic capability at developmental and adult stages, and the hereditary effect of toxicity and the potency for induction of sex-linked lethal mutation during the spermatogenesis by the means of an attached-X method. In the control group, the egg to adult viability of D. melanogaster was 95.2%, while 3.5mM and 5.0mM treated groups were 90.0% and 84.1%, respectively. In the case of their progenies (F₁), the viability was 96.9% in the control group, while 3.5mM and 5.0mM treated groups were 54.5% and 1.6%, respectively. Therefore, these differences between two generations show significant physiological toxic effects in the next generation. In the parental generation, the developmental time was calculated 11.05 days in the control group, 12.43 days in 3.5%mM treated group, and 13.23 days in 5.0mM. In the case of F₁it was estimated 10.35 days in the control group, and 11.43 days in 3.5mM treated group. Compared with the control groups in two generation, the developmental time generally delayed as the dose of MMS increased. As to the sex-ratio, there was no differences between the control and MMS treated groups. The toxic values of adult stage showed which increased the frequency of mortality with MMS concentrations. The mortality at 120hr in the control group was 1.67% and it in 0.5mM MMS treated group 3.33%. In 2.5mM MMS treated group, it was 33.3% at 72hr, and it 95% at 120hr. The increase of the morality was shown from 72hr in 4.0mM treated group which was 100% at 96hr. There was the concentration-dependent induction of sex-linked lethal mutation during the spermatogenesis by means of an attached-X method, MMS had more pronounced effect in sperm and spermaid stages in D. melanogaster.

천연 생약재 열수 및 알코올 추출물의 어병 세균에 대한 항균력

감초 외 48종의 천연 생약제로부터 열수 및 알콜 추출액을 제작하여 19 균주 어병 세균을 대상으로 항균력을 조사한 결과, 알콜 추출액은 22종, 열수 추출액은 16종이 어병 세균에 대하여 항균력을 나타내며 이 중 13종의 생약재는 알콜 및 열수 추출액 모두 8㎜ 이상의 저지대를 나타내어 항균력이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 열수 추출물에서 항균력을 나타내는 약재 중 그람 음성균에 감수성이 양호한 약재는 저지대 8 ㎜ 이상을 나타내는 애엽, 개옻나무, 연교, 지유, 파엽, 대황 및 황금이었으며, 그람 양성균에 항균력이 양호한 약재는 삼지구엽초, 육계 및 보골지 등 이었다. 그리고 오매, 황련, 계혈등, 상백피, 오배자 및 오미자는 저지대가 8㎜ 이상으로 그람 음성,양성균 모두에 항균력이 있었다. 알콜 추출물중에서 그람 음성균에 항균력을 나타내는 것은 백작약, 오매, 선모 및 황금 등으로 저지대가 8㎜ 이상으로 측정되었으며, 그람 양성균에 항균력을 나타내는 것은 감초, 계혈등, 단삼, 상백피, 육계 및 보골지 등으로 저지대가 8㎜ 이상이었다. 또한 그람 음성, 양성균에 모두 8㎜ 이상의 저지대를 나타내는 것은 애엽, 개옻나무, 황련, 지유, 오배자 및 오미자 등이었다. 그러나 이 중에서 오배자 열수 추출물의 어병 세균에 대한 발육 저지대가 32㎜로 그람 음성, 양성균 모두에 가장 뛰어난 항균력을 나타내어 다른 생약재와 다른 광범위 생약재인 것으로 나타났다. 애엽, 황금, 지유, 오매, 황련 및 오배자 열수 ·알콜 추출물은 tetracycline에 내성을 나타내는 균주에 감수성을 나타내었다. Hundreds of medicinal herbs have been using for the purpose of diseases treatment and immune enhancement for human being and other animals including fishes. Among them, 49 species of medicinal herbs were selected and tested for antibacterial activities against 19 strains of fish pathogenic bacteria in different 4 species. The 49 medicinal herbs were extracted by water and ethyl alcohol. The extracts were freeze dried and some paper discs from the extracts were prepared for the evaluation of antibacterial activity. The tested pathogenic bacteria were 5 strains of Edwardsiellu tarda, 5 strains of Vibrio sp., 4 strains of Lactococcus gawieae, 1 strain of Lactococcus raffinose. 1 strain of Streptococcus parauberius, and 3 strains of Streptococcus iniue. The Galla rhois (Obaeja), Gaeonnamu and Hwangleyon showed antibacterial activities on both gram negative and gram positive fish pathogenic bacteria. The Youkgae, Sangbaekpi, Bogolji and Gamcho showed very effective antibacterial activities on gram positive pathogens while Jiyu, Aeyoeb and Yeonkyo showed very effective on gram negative pathogens.

제1요수 불완전 하반신 마비 환자에서의 기능적 전기자극에 의한 훈련 증례보고

Functional electrical stimulation(FES) is known to increase muscle bulk and strength and prevent muscle atrophy in complete paraplegic patients. And other benefits include peripheral adaptations which improve muscle endurance, girth, and appearance, as well as central circulatory adaptation which enhances aerobic(cardiopulmonary) capacity. Good candidates for FES include spinal cord injured patients who have clinically complete upper motor neuron lesion between T4-T12. But we experienced incomplete L1 paraplegic patient who has improved maximal knee extension power, endurance, circumference and cross-sectional area of the thigh and the shank after FES-induced exercise for 44 weeks. So we recommend more trial of the FES-induced exercise to not only complete but also incomplete lumbar paraplegic patients.

15 kVA급 저항형 초전도 전류제한기의 전류제한특성

We investigated resistive superconducting fault current limiters (SFCLs) fabricated using YBCO thin films on 2-inch diameter sapphire substrates. Nearly identical SFCL units were prepared and tested. The units were connected in series and parallel to increase the current and voltage ratings. A serial connection of the units showed significantly unbalanced power dissipation between the units. This imbalance was removed by introducing a shunt resistor to the firstly quenched unit. Parallel connection of the units increased the current rating. An SFCL module of 4 units in parallel, each of which has minimum quench current 25 A_(peak), was produced and successfully tested at a 220 V_(rms) circuit. From the resistance increase, we estimated that the film temperature increases to 200 K in 5 msec, and 300 K in 120 msec. Successive quenches revealed that this system is stable without degradation in the current limiting capability under such thermal shocks as quenches at 220 V_(rms).

Pulmonary blastoma is a very rare primary neoplasm of the lung. We experienced a case of pulmonary blastoma in a 40 years old man. The mediobasal segmentectomy of the right lower lobe was performed. The patient was discharge on the postoperative days 6. There is no evidence of recurrence or metastasis on followup study during 7 months period after operation.

Delaware 포도의 무핵재배에서 엽·신초·과립의 생장 및 성숙에 따른 화학성분의 변화

This study was carried out to clarify seasonal changes of chemical compositions and their interrelation in leaves, shoots and berries treated with gibberellin(GA₃) for seedless grapes in 'Delaware' grapevines. The clusters were dipped twice with 100 ppm GA₃: 10 days before and after the full bloom. The results obtained as follows ; 1. Cumulative growth curve of berry fresh weight showed a double sigmoid curve and the characteristics of three distinctive growth stages(Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ)were weekened with GA₃treatment. 2. While the contents of ash, total carbon, total nitrogen and total carbohydrate had little relation with development and ripeness of berries, those of total sugar and starch had close relation, viz., they decreased with enlargement and maturity of berries, but increased rapidly after harvest in leaves and shoots. Especially, total sugars in leaves and shoots decreased coincidently with starch-increasing in shoots at November. 3. The contents of total soluble solid and reducing sugar in berries increased rapidly at growth stage Ⅲ, but those of total titratable acidity and organic acid decreased coincidently with sugar-increasing. 4. The berry-hardness increased until growth stage Ⅰ, and then stagnated until growth stage Ⅱ, thereafter decreased rapidly at growth stage Ⅲ. Juice viscosity stagnated until growth stage Ⅱ, and then increased rapidly at growth stage Ⅲ. pH of berry-juice decreased until growth stage Ⅱ, afterwards increased at growth stage Ⅲ. 5. By correlation and path coefficient analysis between qualitative characters and the ratio of total soluble solid to titratable acidity(。Brix/Acidity), total correlation coefficients were all highly significant. Of these characters, pH and viscosity of berry-juice were positive, but brightness and hardness of berry, negative. The direct effect of pH on 。Brix/Acidity ratio, p4y=0.9090, was large positively and those of berry-hardness and juice-viscosity, p1y=0.5938, median and, p2y=0.3550, small, respectively. Direct effect of brightness was negatively small.

農村地域의 社會生態的 特性에 관한 硏究

The objectives of this study were to review the concepts of rural and urban society theoretically and to search for the socio-ecological characteristics of the typical rural area, Myon, in terms of regional industrialization. The research areas were 353 Myons in 36 Guns which were sampled by stratified random sampling methed. The major findings of the study were as follows; 1) The average population of Myon, the hinterland, were 5,879 and the average households were 1,554. 2) Most of Myon had the characteristics of rural society which had over 70% of farm population rate. One Myon had 24 villages and each village held 68 households and 256 persons on the average. 3) The average area of Myon was 63.2㎢. However, the high standard deviation insinuated that there were great disparities in area between Myons. 5) The distance from Myon-office to rural center was 17Km on the average. 6) Synthetically, further research should be followed to identify whether the Myon area is suitable for a unit of rural human settlement planning area to demarcate as a self-sufficient human settlement area.

벼멸구 생태형의 성장 특성별 감로 배설량의 차이

Some attempts were made to investigate the honeydew excretion of the brown planthopper(BPH), Nilaparvata lugens Stal, biotypes in terms of instar nymph, days after emergence, macropterous and brachypterous mated and unmated female, and macropterous female with different sources fed on 60-day-old rice cultivars with different resistance genes. The feeding amount of the BPH biotypes was measured by using the honeydew excretion test. The feeding amount of fifth instar on Miryang 23 with no resistance gene was higher than that of Cheongcheongbyeo with Bph-1 gene by two times. Macropterous females and brachypterous showed low feeding amount at first day after emergence, but they showed high feeding amount from second days after emergence. Also the feeding amount of brachypterous female was higher than that of macropterous female. In addition, the feeding amount of BPH was in the order of nymph$lt;macropterous male$lt;brachypterous male$lt;macropterous unmated female$lt;macropterous mated female$lt;brachypterous unmated female$lt;brachypterous mated female. The feeding amount of the BPH biotype-1, 2, and 3 on Miryang 23 was in the order of laboratory(the insects reared for at least 10 generation in the laboratory)$lt;field(the insects obtained from rice fields, 2 generation after migration)$lt;migration(the insects caught directly from migrating population). The feeding of biotype-2 on Cheongcheongbyeo and biotype-3 on Miryang 63 with bph-2 gene was as high as that of biotype-1,2, and 3 on Miryang 23.
