In recent years, gonorrhea has been pandemic and remains one of the most common STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of Penicillinase Producing Neisseria gonorrhoeae(PPNG), we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the Venereal Disease Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by menas of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. In 1998, 93 strians of N. genorrhoeae were isolated, among which 60(64.5%) were PPNG. The prevalence of PPNG in Seoul, which had been decreased to 39% in 1996 after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, is increased to 64.5% in 1998.

Anti-Inflammatory and Cytoprotective Effects of TMC-256C1 from Marine-Derived Fungus <i>Aspergillus</i> sp. SF-6354 via up-Regulation of Heme Oxygenase-1 in Murine Hippocampal and Microglial Cell Lines

<P>In the course of searching for bioactive secondary metabolites from marine fungi, TMC-256C1 was isolated from an ethyl acetate extract of the marine-derived fungus <I>Aspergillus</I> sp. SF6354. TMC-256C1 displayed anti-neuroinflammatory effect in BV2 microglial cells induced by lipopolysaccharides (LPS) as well as neuroprotective effect against glutamate-stimulated neurotoxicity in mouse hippocampal HT22 cells. TMC-256C1 was shown to develop a cellular resistance to oxidative damage caused by glutamate-induced cytotoxicity and reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation in HT22 cells, and suppress the inflammation process in LPS-stimulated BV2 cells. Furthermore, the neuroprotective and anti-neuroinflammatory activities of TMC-256C1 were associated with upregulated expression of heme oxygenase (HO)-1 and nuclear translocation of nuclear factor-E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) in HT22 and BV2 cells. We also found that TMC-256C1 activated p38 mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPK) and phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)/Akt signaling pathways in HT22 and BV2 cells. These results demonstrated that TMC-256C1 activates HO-1 protein expression, probably by increasing nuclear Nrf2 levels via the activation of the p38 MAPK and PI3K/Akt pathways.</P>

기종성 신우신염의 임상양상 및 사망위험인자

Background : Emphysematous pyelonephritis (EPN) is an acute gas forming necrotizing infection of the renal parenchyma with high mortality. Although its incidence is relatively low, it mostly occurs in patients wiith diabetes mellitus. The aim of the study is to identify the risk factors related to mortality and assess the outcome of managements according to the radiologic classification. Materials and Methods : The clinical records of 23 patients diagnosed with EPN were reviewed retrospectively. The cases were grouped into two types on the basis of computed tomography scan. Type 1 EPN was defined as renal necrosis and gas formation with total absence of fluid content. Type 2 EPN was defined as the presence of renal or perirenal fluid in association with bubbly or loculated gas pattern. The patients' symptoms, performed investigations, and treatments were analyzed. Results : All patients had diabetes mellitus. Escherichia coli (78.6%) was the most common pathoqen in urine and blood cultures. The factors showing statistically significant differences between survivors and non-survivors were age (P=0.013), the presence of obstructive uropathy (P= 0.008), and type 1 group (P=0.030). Multivariate logistic regression showed that factor significantly related to death was age (odds ratio=1.20, 95% confidence interval 1.01-1.38, P=0.037). Conservative treatment including antibiotics and percutaneous drainage was successful in type 2 group, Overall mortality was 26.1%; all expired patients were from type 1 group. The mortality of conservative treatment and nephrectomy in type 1 group was 83.3% and 20.0%, respectively. Conclusion : These results suggest that old age is a significant risk factor for mortality in patients with EPN. Nephrectomy should be considered as the main treatment option in patients with type 1 EPN.

Based on findings of these analysis the results of the study are as follow: First, the totality high awareness in physical and politics. Second, a level of healthy is humanity(34.9%), natural science(47.6%), art and Physical education(65.9). Third, there were differences on 0.l% differences on 0.01% social, value of heresy, value of education, value of culture, as well there were differences on 1% value of life style. Fourth, there were 53.6% personally awareness of health in participation for sports and personally awareness of weakness in sport participation 5.6%, sport nonparticipation 12.9%.

The emergence of a new phenomenon called sports value consciousness and its diversification make itself a meaningful research task, in that it demands a change of healthy human consciousness according to various social structures. The present study, therefore, aims to establish a reasonable standard of sports value consciousness as well as a new social system of value paradigms regarding all sports phenomena by revealing the consciousness patterns and related factors affecting the sports value consciousness sports activities. For this purpose, 533 subjects were chosen by the systematic stratified cluster random sampling method from among the population of athletes and leaders in high schools and universities in Pusan as of 1997. The questionnaire for this research was adopted from the studies of Niwa (1985), Uesugi (1987, 1990), Kusaka (1988), and Asanuma (1990). The original inquiry items underwent two preparatory tests for the judgment of validity and reliability before actual administration. The entire data went through χ²test, discriminant analysis to minimize Wilk's λ. The following conclusions were made from this study: 1. As to sports consciousness, the more educated and the older one was, the more one was likely to develop Recreation (or Secular) orientation. 2. Concerning sports value consciousness, the tendency toward Ascetic and Agon orientation was stronger when one was older, more schooled or one's parents had specialized occupation. As a differentiation of sports value consciousness, 60.5% belonged to Ascetic orientation, 39.5% Agon orientation, 90.6% Leisure (or Play) orientation, and 9.4% Recreation orientation. 3. In the relationship between sports consciousness and sports sense of value, such factors as the principles of discipline, training, continutiy, spiritualism, development, and concentration affected Ascetic of Agon orientation. In addition, the factors or principles of development, spiritualism, and focus on sports had an influence on Leisure or Recreation orientation.

설포메틸화법에 의한 無公害 傳統韓紙의 제조에 관한 연구

This study was performed to investigate the pollution-free papermaking characteristics from paper mulberry by sulfomethylation pulping. Bast fibers were pulped by sulfomethylated cooking liquor and by alkali and alkali-peroxied processes for the comparison. Sulfomethylated pulping resulted in the superior pulp with high yield and better quality compared to those of alkali and alkali- peroxide pulps. Since the pulp was so bright, there was almost no need additional bleaching. Polluttant loads of sulfomethylated pulping effluent were very low in terms of pH, turbidity and color compared to those of alkali. Pollution-free effluents was accomplished by simple filtering treatment with pine bark, charred rice hull and sawdust compost. Pine bark was the most effective in reduction rate of pollutants. 한국産 황어의 종묘생산에 관한 연구 1. 産卵習性 및 初期生活史

강원도 양양군에 위치한 남대천과 전라남도 섬진강에 분포하고 있는 황어의 종료생산을 위한 기초자료로 産卵習性과 初期生活史에 관하여 관찰한 결과는 다음과 같다. 황어의 産卵期는 자연상태에서 3∼6月이고, 産卵은 흐르는 하천의 자갈 밑에 하였으며, 受精된 卵은 작은 자갈의 표면에 붙어있었다. 알의 크기는 2.70∼3.20㎜(평균 3.00㎜)로 油球는 없었다. 孵化는 평균 사육수온 10.60℃에서 受精 後 300시간부터 시작되었으며, 312시간만에 완료되었다. 孵化 直後의 仔魚는 전장 6.35∼6.87㎜(평균 10.67㎜)로 난황이 거의 흡수되어 後期仔魚期로 접어들며, 입과 항문이 열려있었다. 孵化 後 7∼9일째 後期仔魚는 전장 11.35∼12.30㎜(평균 11.65㎜)로 등지느러미가 생길 부분이 융기하기 시작하였다. 孵化 後 12∼13일째 개체는 전장 12.65∼13.15㎜(평균 12.80)로 이때부터 Daphnia sp.와 Brachionus plicatilis를 攝餌하였으며, 성장이 다소 빨라졌고, 脊索의 끝부분은 45°위로 굽어져 있었다. 孵化 後 43∼45일째의 개체는 전장이 19.55∼22.85㎜(평균 21.95㎜)로 모든 지느러미 줄기가 정수에 달하여 稚魚期로 이행하였다. 孵化 後 50∼52일째의 稚魚들은 전장이 21.54∼27.35㎜(평균 24.55㎜)로 몸의 형태, 체색 및 옆줄이 완전하게 형성되어 成魚에 닮아 있었다. The spawning behavior and early life history of sea rundace, Tribolodon hakonensis were studied. Spawning of T. hakonensis occurs enmasse on bottoms of stream with a spawning season of March to June. The eggs are attached to the under surface of the gravel. The eggs riped were demersal and adhesive, and their diameter were 2.70∼3.20㎜(mean 3.00㎜). Hatching was started at 300 hours after fertilization at mean water temperature 10.60℃. Newly-hatched larvae were 6.35∼6.87㎜ in total length(TL, Mean 6.65㎜), and mouth and anus were not yet opened. 4∼5 days old larvae transformed to postlarva stage and they were 10.25㎜∼11.15㎜ in TL (mean 10.67㎜). As yolk sac were nearly absorbed, mouth and anus were opened. In 7∼9 days after hatching, total length 11.35∼12.30㎜(mean 11.65㎜). The part of the fin-fold at dorsal fin became high. 12∼13 days old larvae were 12.65∼13.15㎜ in TL(mean 12.80㎜), and they fed Daphnia sp. and Brachionus plicatilis actively. In this time the growth rate slightly increased and tip of notocord was flesed on upward. Aggregate numbers of all fin rays were completed at over 19.55∼22.85㎜ in TL(43∼45 days after hatching), at which time the larvae reached the juvenile stage. 50∼52 days old larvae(21.54∼27.35㎜ in TL) were similar in body from, lateral line and color with adult.

백서에서 치아회분말과 연석고의 혼합매식술에 관한 실험적 연구:혼합 비율에 따른 비교

This study was performed to determine the ideal mixing ratio of toothash and plaster of Paris. The histopathologic and histomorphometric study of bone response of five implant materials, toothash(Group A), tooth and plaster mixture, mixing ratio due to weight 2 : 1(Group B), 3 : 1(Group C), 4 : 1(Group D), and plaster Paris(Group E), were performed in rat calvarial defect. No sign of extensive inflammatory reaction was defected. Newly-formed bony ingrowth occurred in all experimental groups except for group E at 12 weeks after operation. Bone was deposited directly on the surface of implant materials. The highest rate of direct bony union between implant material and newly-formed bone occurred with the group B, followed group C, D, and A.

The purpose of this study is to apply and test lifestyle concept in the field of sports behavior research. The AIO(Activities, Interests, and Opinions) approach is used to operationalize the lifestyle concept. Questionnaires containing 63 AIO statements are admistered to a total 600 members of a private sport club in Busan. 452 usable questionnaires were returned, resulting in a response rate of 75.3%. The sampling was chosen by the stratified random sampling Method. Analysis Method was used factor analysis to identify. The overall structure of club member's lifestyle the main result of the study : There exist eight factors representing dimensions of club member's lifestyle, there are named as sensitive of fashion, preference of Brend, Achievement, stability directed, self-confidence, Nihilism, Health-Conscious, self-affirmative.
