Background/Aims: Obstacles exist in facilitating hepatitis C virus (HCV) care cascade. To increase timely and accurate diagnosis, disease awareness and accessibility, in-hospital HCV reflex testing followed by automatic appointments and a late call-back strategy (R.N.A. model) was applied. We aimed to compare the HCV treatment rate of patients treated with this strategy compared to those without. Methods: One hundred and twenty-five anti-HCV seropositive patients who adopted the R.N.A. model in 2020 and another 1,396 controls treated in 2019 were enrolled to compare the gaps in accurate HCV RNA diagnosis to final treatment allocation. Results: The HCV RNA testing rate was significantly higher in patients who received reflex testing than in those without reflex testing (100% vs. 84.8%, P<0.001). When patients were stratified according to the referring outpatient department, a significant improvement in the HCV RNA testing rate was particularly noted in patients from non-hepatology departments (100% vs. 23.3%, P<0.001). The treatment rate in HCV RNA seropositive patients was 83% (83/100) after the adoption of the R.N.A. model, among whom 96.1% and 73.9% of patients were from the hepatology and non-hepatology departments, respectively. Compared to subjects without R.N.A. model application, a significant improvement in the treatment rate was observed for patients from non-hepatology departments (73.9% vs. 27.8%, P=0.001). The application of the R.N.A. model significantly increased the in-hospital HCV treatment uptake from 6.4% to 73.9% for patients from non-hepatology departments (P<0.001). Conclusions: The care cascade increased the treatment uptake and set up a model for enhancing in-hospital HCV elimination. (Clin Mol Hepatol 2021;27:136-143)

Background/Aims: Growth hormone (GH) is the main regulator of somatic growth, metabolism, and gender dimorphism in the liver. GH receptor (GHR) signaling in cancer is derived from a large body of evidence, although the GHR signaling pathway involved in the prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in patients with hepatitis C virus (HCV)-related HCC, remains unclear. We aimed to explore the expression of GHR and analyze its association with clinicopathologic features and prognosis of patients with chronic hepatitis C and HCC. Methods: The expression of GHR mRNA was investigated by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction in paired tumors and adjacent non-tumorous (ANT) liver tissues of 200 patients with chronic hepatitis C and HCC. Western blotting and immunofluorescence assays using the HCV-infected Huh7.5.1 cell model was performed. Results: GHR mRNA was significantly lower in HCV-HCC tissues than in corresponding ANT liver tissues. GHR mRNA and protein levels also decreased in the HCV-infected Huh7.5.1 cell model. Notably, lower GHR expression was associated with age of >60 years (P=0.0111) and worse clinicopathologic characteristics, including alpha-fetoprotein >100 ng/mL (P=0.0403), cirrhosis (P=0.0075), vascular invasion (P=0.0052), pathological stage II-IV (P=0.0002), and albumin ≤4.0 g/dL (P=0.0055), which were linked with poor prognosis of HCC. Most importantly, the high incidence of recurrence and poor survival rates in patients with a low ratio of tumor/ANT GHR (≤0.1) were observed, indicating that low expression levels of GHR had great risk for development of HCC in patients with chronic hepatitis C. Conclusions: Our study demonstrates a significant down-regulation of GHR expression as a new unfavorable independent prognostic factor in patients with chronic hepatitis C and HCC. In this study, polypropylene (PP) and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) are used to coat stainless steel(SS) wrapped yarns, the product of which is then fabricated into conductive textiles. Afterwards, the tensile properties, surface resistivity, and electromagnetic shielding effectiveness (EMSE) of conductive textiles are evaluated, therebydetermining the influences of the MWCNTs content. The test results show that using MWCNT can effectively improve themechanical properties of the coated yarns and conductive woven fabrics. In addition, 5 wt % of MWCNT provides the wovenfabrics with a lower surface resistivity and higher EMSE. The influences of the lamination angle and number of laminationlayers on EMSE are investigated, and the maximum EMSE of -49.89 dB occurs when the lamination angle is 0 °/90 °/0 °.
A comparative study of academic dishonesty among university students in Mainland China and Taiwan
Shu Ching Yang,Feng Kuang Chiang,Chiao Ling Huang 서울대학교 교육연구소 2017 Asia Pacific Education Review Vol.18 No.3
The purpose of this study was to compare the academic dishonesty (AD) experience of students from Mainland China and Taiwan. Specifically, we investigated students’ current self-reported personal AD, their perception of peers’ AD, the climate of academic integrity and their awareness of AD’s seriousness. Furthermore, we sought to explore the relationship between AD behavior and several variables. In total, 605 students from Mainland China (n = 368) and Taiwan (n = 237) were recruited to participate in the study. All the participants perceived that they were less involved in AD than their peers, and students from both areas ranked the gravity of AD offenses similarly. However, Chinese students generally reported higher rates of improper credit attribution, fraudulence, and falsification than their Taiwanese counterparts. Finally, two regression models revealed gender, perception of peer AD, and awareness of AD’s seriousness were significant variables in terms of predicting self-reported personal AD, and there existed interactions between the students’ perception of peer AD and gender. Witnessing peers’ misconduct influenced males more than females in terms of engaging in AD for both Mainland Chinese and Taiwanese students.

In this study, conductive polymer composites and conductive functional fabrics are combined to serve aselectromagnetic shielding planks. Polypropylene (PP), carbon black (CB), and short carbon fibers (SCF) are blended atdifferent ratios to form conductive polymer composites (i.e. PCS series). The mechanical property, electrical property, morphology, and electromagnetic interference shielding effectiveness (EMI SE) of the PCS series are evaluated. The testresults show that with 20 wt% of conductive fillers (i.e. CB and SCF), PCS20 exhibits the optimal tensile strength, flexuralstrength, and electrical property that is 7 order of magnitude higher than that of pure PP plates. Moreover, the EMI SE of thisgroup also reaches -30 dB, which meets level one of civil EMI SE standard. Therefore, PCS20 is used to combine with fourconductive sandwiches. The resulting multilayered functional PCS-sandwich planks are tested in terms of mechanicalproperty, morphology, and EMI SE. The test results show that the planks composed of a pure conductive woven sandwichhave the maximum tensile property and significantly improved impact resistance. All of the multilayered functional plankshave EMI SE that is higher than -50 dB and are qualified for the protection level of standard EMI SE electronic devices.

<P>PtS2 is a newly developed group 10 2D layered material with high carrier mobility, wide band gap tunability, strongly bound excitons, symmetrical metallic and magnetic edge states, and ambient stability, making it attractive in nanoelectronic, optoelectronic, and spintronic fields. To the aim of application, a large-scale synthesis is necessary. For transition-metal dichalcogenide (TMD) compounds, a thermally assisted conversion method has been widely used to fabricate wafer-scale thin films. However, PtS2 cannot be easily synthesized using the method, as the tetragonal PtS phase is more stable. Here, we use a specified quartz part to locally increase the vapor pressure of sulfur in a chemical vapor deposition furnace and successfully extend this method for the synthesis of PtS2 thin films in a scalable and controllable manner. Moreover, the PtS and PtS2 phases can be interchangeably converted through a proposed strategy. Field-effect transistor characterization and photocurrent measurements suggest that PtS2 is an ambipolar semiconductor with a narrow band gap. Moreover, PtS2 also shows excellent gas-sensing performance with a detection limit of ∼0.4 ppb for NO2. Our work presents a relatively simple way of synthesizing PtS2 thin films and demonstrates their promise for high-performance ultrasensitive gas sensing, broadband optoelectronics, and nanoelectronics in a scalable manner. Furthermore, the proposed strategy is applicable for making other PtX2 compounds and TMDs which are compatible with modern silicon technologies.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>
Water spray heat transfer through a piezoelectric atomizer with a single-hole micronozzle
Shou-Shing Hsieh,Ching-Feng Huang,Yung-Ming Lu 대한기계학회 2020 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.34 No.8
We report an experimental study on the flow and heat transfer for a single microhole of water spray impingement on an indium tin oxide (ITO) heating plate using a piezoelectric atomizer. A microhole of d j = 35 µm was used and tested with a volumetric flow rate of 0.22 cm 3 /min for three different spray heights of 10, 20 and 30 mm and five heater initial temperatures of 25 o C, 50 o C, 100 o C, 150 o C, and 200 o C. Through the optical measuring techniques of the microparticle image velocimetry (µPIV) as well as interferometric particle imaging (IPI) and micro laser-induced fluorescence (µLIF), the velocity field, such as spray centerline velocity, droplet impact velocity and impact crater diameter, including impinged liquid film thickness and heat transfer performance (CHF) can be measured and calculated. The effects of the spray height and initial heater temperature on the flow and thermal characteristics are presented and discussed herein. The experimental results show that both the spray centerline velocity and spray droplet impact velocity were significantly influenced by the initial surface temperature as well as by the spray height. As a result, the cooling performance would be, in turn, affected by the aforesaid two parameters.

Toona sinensis is a traditional Chinese herb, and the extracts of T. sinensis leaf possess a variety of biological functions. This study attempted to test the antiproliferative effect of TSL-1 (a bioactive fraction of T. sinensis) in H441 cells (lung adenocarcinoma). The data showed that the antiproliferative effect of TSL-1 on H441 cells is prominent using the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide assay. TSL-1-induced apoptosis was confirmed by cell morphology, sub-G1 peak accumulation, cleavage of poly(ADP)-ribose polymerase, and propidium iodide-annexin V double staining. Furthermore, decreased Bcl-2 accompanied by increased Bax (in western blotting) was found with TSL-1 treatment of H441 cells. TSL-1 treatment-induced G1 arrest was concurrent with the down-regulation of protein levels of cyclin D1 and cyclin-dependent kinase 4 in H441 cells. Peroral and intraperitoneal administrations of TSL-1 were performed to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy, and peroral administration of TSL-1 was also used to elucidate the therapeutic efficacy in the H441 cell xenograft model in vivo. The data revealed that TSL-1 treatment inhibited H441 tumor growth in both therapeutic and preventive experiments. Taken together, these results demonstrate that TSL-1 possesses the capability of preventing and alleviating lung cancer proliferation in vitro and in vivo with proven nephrological and hepatic safety and has the potential to be developed as an anti–lung cancer drug.
