The purpose of this study is to clarify the effect of the emulsifier ratio on properties of the polymer modified mortar using methylmethacrylate-buthyl acrylate(MMA/BA) latexes, and to obtain basic data necessary to develope appropriate latexes for cement modifiers. Polymer modified mortars using MMA/BA latexes are prepared with various monomer ratios, and tested for air content, flexural and compressive strengths. From the test results. we knew that the water-cement ratio is decreased with an increase in the amount of emulsifier. And the air content is increase with an increase in the polymer cement ratios. In general, the superior compressive and flexural strength of polymer-modified mortars using MMIA/GA latexes is obtained ant a bound MMA content of 80 percent and a emulsifier ratio of 6 percent.

Underwater static magnetic field signature for the naval ship has been widely used as the detonating source of the influence mine system because it is possible to make an accurate target detection in the near field although the magnetic field falls off relatively fast with distance in comparison with the underwater radiated noise signal. In this paper, we describe the prediction results about the underwater static magnetic field by the ferromagnetic hull, the internal structures and the main on-board equipment for the target vessel using the commercial FEM software. Also we analyze the degaussing effectiveness for the target vessel through the degaussing coils arrangement.

This paper describes the equivalent dipole modeling method utilizing a singular value decomposition technique from analysis data by the FNREMUS Detailled Modeller software based on BEM which can predict the underwater electric field signal due to a galvanic corrosion phenomenon on a naval vessel. The proposed dipole modeling method was successfully verified in good agreement with predicted BEM data at 30 m depths through the comparison of average differences. The proposed dipole modelling method can be effectively used in the prediction and analysis of static electric field signature distributions generated from a naval vessel at any different depths.

Since 1990, Agency for Defense Development (ADD) has been operating the nonmagnetic laboratory and the magnetic sensors laboratory to develop the key technology of the ship’s magnetic silencing and to research the high performance magnetic sensors used in the weapon system and to perform the technical support for Republic of Korea Navy. Recently, the main test equipment in the laboratories has been upgraded to improve the measurement and analysis abilities against magnetic target and to evaluate the performance of the magnetic sensors. In this paper, the capability and the current state of magnetic test facilities of ADD are described.

This paper describes the mathematical modeling method for the static magnetic field signature generated by a magnetic scale model. we proposed the equivalent dipole modeling method utilizing a singular value decomposition technique from magnetic field signatures by magnetic sensors are located special depths below the scale model. The proposed dipole modeling method was successfully verified through comparisons with the real measured values in our non-magnetic laboratory. Using the proposed method, it is possible to predict and analyze static magnetic field distributions at any difference depths generated from the real ships as well as a scale model ship.

The chemical properties of water masses were investigated at 33 stations of the southeastern East Sea in February, 1995 on board R/V Tam-Yang. The water masses were not clearly distinguished due to the vertical mixing in winter. However, on the basis of the T-S and T-O₂ diagrams, water masses in the study area were divided into five groups(Type I, Type II, Type III, Type IV, Type V). (1) >9.0℃, >34.35 psu, 5.08-5.60㎖/ℓ at Type I, (2) 6.0-9.0℃, 34.15-34.35 psu, 5.60-5.90㎖/ℓ at Type II, (3) 4.0-6.0℃, 34.00-34.15 psu, >5.90㎖/ℓ at Type III, (4) 1.5-4.0℃, 34.00-34.05 psu, 5.40-5.90㎖/ℓ at Type IV, (5) <1.5℃, 34.05-34.07 psu, 4.80-5.40㎖/ℓ at Type V. In the vertical profiles of nutrients, the concentrations were very low in the surface layer and increased rapidly with depth. The highest concentrations occurred in Type IV, while the concentrations in Type I were the lowest. The N/P ratios were less than Redfield ratio, indicating that nitrogenous nutrients were the limiting factor for phytoplankton growth. The concentrations of POC and PON were in the range of 0.49-20.03㎍-at/ℓ and 0.09-5.34㎍-at/ℓ, respectively. The relatively high concentration occured in the surface layer of inner shore, showing that the concentration at each water mass followed the order Type I > Type II > Type III > Type IV > Type V, respectively. The C:N ratio in particulate organic matter was lower than the values reported in other region due to relatively high concentrations of PON in the study area. Relatively high ratios of POC to chlorophyll α during the study periods indicate that non-living detritus comparised most of the POC in the study area.

The present study was performed to clarify the recovery effect of polyacetylene constituents from Acanthopanax senticosus ethanol extracts on $CCl_4$-induced acute hepatic injury in dogs. Sixteen clinically healthy dogs were divided into the control group (six dogs), and experimental group I (three dogs), II (three dogs) and III (four dogs). Acute hepatic injury was induced by single intraperitoneal injection of 1 ml/kg $CCl_4$ solution ($CCl_4$ : olive oil = 1 : 1) after sterilization. The control group was orally administered with 10 ml of corn oil, and experimental groups I, II and III were orally administered with extracts of A. senticosus at the dose of 5, 10 and 30 mg/kg in 10 ml corn oil for seven consecutive days at 24 h after $CCl_4$ injection. We assessed changes occurring in serum ALT, AST and GGT activities on the pre, day 0, day 1, day 2, day 3, day 5 and day 7, together with the histopathological findings. In experimental group I, the significant changes in serum ALT activities were found on day 5 (p<0.05) and day 7 (p<0.05), compared with those in the control group. However, significant differences were not found in the changes of serum AST and GGT activities. In experimental group II, significant changes were found on day 2 (p<0.05), day 3(p<0.05), day 5 (p<0.05) and day 7 (p<0.05) in serum ALT activities, on day 1 (p<0.05) in serum AST, and on day 2 (p<0.05) and day 3 (p<0.05) in serum GGr activities, respectively. In experimental group III, the changes in serum ALT, AST and GGT activities were not significant. In the histopathological evaluation, experimental group I and II showed much improvement, while experimental group III became worse when compared with the control group. Based on the results of the present study, it was concluded that low dose (below 10 mg/kg) administration of polyacetylene constituents from A. senticosus ethanol extracts was effective for recovery of acute hepatic injury induced by $CCl_4$ in dogs.

Neuronal SNARE proteins mediate neurotransmitter release at the synapse by facilitating the fusion of vesicles to the presynaptic plasma membrane. Cognate v-SNAREs and t-SNAREs from the vesicle and the plasma membrane, respectively, zip up and bring about the apposition of two membranes attached at the C-terminal ends. Here, we demonstrate that SNARE zippering can be modulated in the midways by wedging with small hydrophobic molecules. Myricetin, which intercalated into the hydrophobic inner core near the middle of the SNARE complex, stopped SNARE zippering in motion and accumulated the trans-complex, where the N-terminal region of v-SNARE VAMP2 is in the coiled coil with the frayed C-terminal region. Delphinidin and cyanidin inhibited N-terminal nucleation of SNARE zippering. Neuronal SNARE complex in PC12 cells showed the same pattern of vulnerability to small hydrophobic molecules. We propose that the half-zipped trans-SNARE complex is a crucial intermediate waiting for a calcium trigger that leads to fusion pore opening.
