Pine mushroom (Songyi, Tricholoma matsutake (S. Ito et Imai) Sing.) industry in Korea has confronted with several difficulties in the light of marketing, i.e. its supply quantity, quality, price and promotion. In this essay we discussed the problems with four topics related to the mushroom: long term decreasing production by 7% per year, relatively dropping quality and prices in changing Japanese markets that import the mushroom from 11 contries and needed promotion. For these, we suggest first that pine mushroom production forests be managed on a sustainable basis in the present production sites. Second, harvesting and packing need to be done at the production sites so that its quality may not be damaged. Third, it should be understood that pine mushroom markets in Japan have been greatly changed. That is, Korea supply only 10% of Japanese pine mushroom impact. Forth, our own brand names for pine mushroom need to be developed. For solve these problems our critical and creative efforts and needed.

Effects of arbuscular mycorrhizal inoculation and fertilization on the growth of Albizzia julibrissin seedlings were investigated in coal mine tailings soil. Spores inoculation of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus, Glomus etunicatum, into sterilized tailings soil formed Arum-type mycorrhiza and vesicles massively in the roots. Fertilization did not affect spores formation but reduced mycorrhizal formation by 20% in the seedlings. Nitrogen-fixing root nodules formation was increased by mycorrhizal inoculation and fertilization treatment. Leaf nitrogen content in A. julibrissin seedlings were the highest in the fertilized treatment by 1.2%, phosphorus was the highest in the mycorrhiza inoculated by 1.3mg/kg, zinc content was the highest in the mycorrhiza inoculated by 0.030 mg/kg. And the nitrogen content was higher in fertilization treatments than in mycorrhizal inoculation only. Seedling height growth was higher in the fertilized treatment with 20.7 cm than in the other treatment with 11.5 to 16.7 cm. Shoot dry weight of seedlings in mycorrhizal inoculation+fertilization treatment with 8.9 g was higher than in mycorrhizal inoculation with 4.1 g. Root dry weight was highest in the mycorrhiza+fertilizer treatment with 8.1 g. S/ R ratio was 0.52 in the mycorrhizal inoculated compared to 0.91 in the mycorrhiza+fertilized treatment. This means that root development is relatively higher than shoot growth. Consequently, A. julibrissin seedling growth in coal mine tailings soil was greatly improved with the treatment of mycorrhizal inoculation and fertilization.

The purpose of the study was to investigate and find the metabolic and strength response to the effects of Gin Seng intake on weight reduction in Wrestlers. Ten subjects experienced five to eight years fro were used for the study. They are attending at university and engaging in wrestling program. The subjects were divided into experimental and control groups. Five exeprimental group was supplemented Korean Gin Seng with the amounts of 600g for eight weeks. The pre-post test methods was conducted. The metabolic test using the Ergo-Oxyscreen (Jager co. German) were obtained during the ergometer bicycle tests. The subjects were seated on the bicycle for two minutes after two minutes resting period, and pedalled with 60rpm at the beginning with free loading for two minutes, and increased the 0.5KP load every one minute. The exercise on the bicycle was continued until the subjects were exhausted. The metabolic data such as weight, MV(minute ventilation)., BF(breathing frequency), Heart rate, Vo_2ml kg/min., and Time. were calculated automatically and printed out the data every minute. The grip and back strength tests were obtained using the dynamometer (T.KK. Japan), and leg strength(180/sec, 30/sec.), power, isometric maximal strength, and endurance were measured through Cybex-Ⅱ system. After pre-test, exprimental group was begin to intake Gin-Seng for eight weeks, and control was start to reduce their body weight. As the results of the study, conclusion to be drawn as follows; 1. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of aromatherapy program using fir needle essential oil on stress, sleep quality, and fatigue of middle aged women. Twenty middle-aged women were divided into experimental group and control group. The experimental group inhaled the fir needle fragrance for 5 minutes and received a back massage with sunflower oil mixed with fir essential oil for 20 minutes. The control group took a rest for 5 minutes instead of inhaling the fragrance of essential oils and received a back massage with only sunflower oil. The experiment was conducted total eight times (twice a week) for four weeks. For the measurement of stress, fatigue, and sleep quality, questionnaires were used to collect data in the pre-test survey and post-test survey. As a result, the scores of physical and psychological stress in the experimental group and the control group were significantly decreased. However, the physical stress was more decreased in the experimental group treated with fir oil aromatherapy. In addition, both groups showed a significant difference in the quality of sleep. Fatigue measurements showed significant changes in both groups, but the fatigue reduction was more significant in the experimental group. These results suggest that massage therapy for the middle-aged women has a positive effect on relieving physical and psychological stress, improving sleep quality and reducing fatigue by assisting metabolism and blood circulation. This study proved that fir needle essential oil can be a good material for aromatherapy to promote health of middle aged women undergoing physical, psychological, and social changes.
Effect of Water Stress on Ectomycorrhizal Development and Growth of Alnus rubra Seedlings

수분 스트레스가 루브라오리나무(Alnus rubra) 묘목의 균근(Alpova diplophloeus) 발달과 생장에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 5일 주기의 수분 스트레스를 10주 동안 처리한 결과 A. diplophloeus 균근의 형성, 묘목의 생리활동 및 생장이 감소하였다. A. diplophloeus 균근균이 접종된 묘목과 접종되지 않은 묘목은 수분 스트레스에 관계없이 생리활동이나 생장에서 차이가 없었다. 질소고정활동은 탄소동화작용보다 수분스트레스에 덜 민감하였다. 이 결과는 수분스트레스 상태에서 A. diplophloeus 균근은 오리나무의 적응도(fitness)에 기여하지 못함을 의미한다. The effects of water stress on the development of Alpova dipiophloeus ectomycorrhizas and on the growth of nodulated Alnus rubra Bong seedlings were investigated. Five-day cyclic water stress significantly decreased the ectomycorrhizal development and the seedling growth. However, A. diplophloeus inoculated seedlings did not significantly differ from the non-inoculated seedlings in the growth and physiological activities under both well watered and water stressed conditions. $N_2$-fixation was less sensitive than $CO_2$ fixation to water stress. We conclude that under water stress conditions A. diplophloeus mycorrhizas do not contribute to the fitness of red alder seedlings.
