      • Effects of triathlon race on cardiac damage biomarkers in triahletes

        Over the years, researchers have investigated to describe the changes in biomarkers of cardiac damage during recovery from strenuous and prolonged exercise events. A triathlon is an endurance sport-event, which includes swimming, cycling and running with various distances. This study was to investigate the effects of triathlon race on cardiac damage biomarkers in triathletes. Fifteen healthy men participated in the study. Based on performance, they were divided into elite athlete group (EG: n= 7) and non-elite athlete group (NEG: n= 8). Participants’ blood samples were obtained during four periods: before, immediately, 2 hours and 7 days after finishing the race. creatine kinase (CK), creatine kinase-myoglobin (CK-MB), myoglobin, and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) were significantly increased in both groups immediately after, and 2 hours after finishing the race (p<.05). CK, CK-MB, and myoglobin were completely recovered after 7 days (p<0.05). Hematocrit(Hct) was significantly decreased in both groups (p<0.05) 7 days after the race. LDH was significantly decreased in the EG (p<0.05) only 7 days after the race. Homoglobin(Hb) was significantly decreased in the NEG (p<0.05) only 2 hours after the race. Although cardiac troponin T(cTnT) was significantly increased in the EG but not in the NEG 2hours after the race (p<.05), there was no group-by-time interaction. cTnT was completely recovered in both groups 7 days after the race. In conclusion, although there is exercise-induced skeletal muscle damage shown by increased CK and CK-MB, cTnT was not increased in both groups immediately after the race. But there was the significant increase in cTnT after 2 hours in EG. We can suggest that it was due to the enormous exercise stress for high performance imposed in EG. However, all cardiac damage markers return to normal range within 1 week.

        축제브랜드이미지, 지역주민의 자긍심, 지역애호도 간의 영향관계 연구: 보령지역을 중심으로

        The purpose of this study is to examine effect of regional loyalty on festival brand image through esteem of regional residents. We collected 248 statistically usable questionnaires and analyzed them with a Pass Analysis by using AMOS (4.0) and SPSS (13.0k). Result of the study revealed that, first, it was found that `regional character` of `festival brand image` had no influence on `esteem`. Nevertheless it was found that `individuality` had influence on `esteem`. Secondly according to survey of this treatise it was found that `esteem` had influence on `desire to settle down` and to `sense of solidarity` nevertheless it was revealed that `esteem` had no influence on `recommendation and relationship`. Thirdly it was found that `regional character` and `individuality` of `festival brand image` have influence on `desire to settle down` but it was found out that `recommendation and relationship` have influence only to `regional character.` Fourth, `festival brand image` was found as having influence on `desire to settle down` through `esteem`.

        친환경 설계로 제조된 주방세제의 탄소배출량 감축 효과

        기후변화에 따른 부정적 영향이 가시화되고, 직접적인 경제적 피해가 현실화되면서 온실가스 배출을 줄여 기후변화에 대응하기 위한 범지구적 노력이 가속화되고 있다. 특히 국가의 온실가스 감축에 기여하고 기업의 지구 온난화 방지를 위한 노력을 소비자에게 보여줄 수 있는 효과적인 수단으로 탄소성적표지 제도가 주목을 받고 있으며, 탄소배출량이 상대적으로 적은 저탄소제품에 대한 관심이 점차 증가하고 있는 추세다. 본 연구에서는 제품의 기존 원료물질을 환경부하가 상대적으로 적은 물질로 대체하여 탄소배출량을 줄인 주방세제의 탄소배출량에 대해 전과정평가(LCA) 기법을 활용하여 산출하였다. 전 과정 평가기법은 환경부의 탄소성적표지 작성지침을 적용하여, 사용단계를 제외하는 제조 전 단계와 제조단계 및 폐기단계 를 조사하였다. 그리고 친환경 제품 설계 도입이 제품 온실가스 배출에 미치는 영향을 파악하기 위해 주방세제의 주요 원료 물질에 대한 변경 전후를 비교하였다. 그 결과 대상 주방세제 주요 원료물질의 온실가스 배출량이 0.47 kgCO₂eq/kg-제품에서 0.38 kgCO₂eq/kg-제품으로 개선됨을 알 수 있었으며, 이는 제품 주요 원료물질의 탄소배출량이 약 9.4% 감소되는 것으로 이 를 통해 연간 약 916톤의 온실가스가 감축되는 효과가 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. As negative effects of climate change have been visualized and its direct damages to economy have been realized, the global efforts to respond to climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emission were accelerated. Korea``s Carbon Footprint Labeling gets a lot of attention as one of the effective methods to contribute to national GHG reduction goal, and for enterprises to show customers how much effort the company put into global warming prevention. Consumers`` interest on low-carbon products has been increasing. This study uses Life Cycle Assessment method to calculate the amount of carbon emission of dishwashing detergent, LG Household & Healthcare, which reduced carbon emissions by using raw materials that has relatively lower environment load. Life Cycle Assessment Method is based on guidelines of Carbon Footprint Labeling, Ministry of Environment, and pre-manufacturing, manufacturing, and disposal phase are included while use phase of the product is excluded from assessment. In order to understand the effects of eco-design on carbon emissions, the dishwashing detergent’s carbon emissions are compared before and after the change of main raw materials. The result shows the improvement from 0.47 kg CO₂eq/kg to 0.38 kg CO₂eq/kg per product, and this means the main raw materials`` carbon emissions could be reduced by around 9.4%, which is equivalent to 916tons of GHG emissions per year.

        Dependence of Electronic Spectra on the Degree of Conjugation in Organocobalt(Ⅲ) Complexes

        효소모델 코발트 화합물의 전자스펙트럼에서 축상의 이온성 리간드와 코발트사이의 전하전이에 해당하는 흡수띠의 위치가 극성도에 따라 변화하는 현상이 평면상의 거대고리 리간드의 공액도와 어떠한 상관관계가 있는가에 대하여 다음과 같은 여러가지의 공액도를 가진 거대고리 리간드의 유기코발트 착화합물을 사용하여 연구하였다. 완전히 공액인 $CH_3CoL,\;C_6H_5CoL,\;CNCoL,\;CH_3CoL',\;CNCoL'$부분적으로 공액인 $CH_3(py)Co(DH)_2, CH_3CoL"$, 비공액의 이중결합을 포함하는 $[CH_3Co(1,4-CT)](ClO_4)_2$와 고리가 완전히 닫히지 않은 $CH_3Co(salen)$이 그들이다. 코발트와 탄소사이의 전하전이 흡수띠는 평면상의 거대고리 리간드가 완전히 공액일 때에만 용매의 극성도가 증가함에 따라 더욱 짧은 파장으로 이동하였고, 그에 해당하는 전이에너지$(E_T)$는 용매의 극성도(Z)와 직선의 상관관계에 있었으나, 거대고리 리간드가 불완전한 공액이거나 고리가 닫히지 않았을 때에는 전이 에너지와 용매의 극성도 사이에 상관관계를 발견할 수 없었다. The electronic spectra of enzyme-model organocobalt(Ⅲ) complexes containing completely or partially conjugated macrocyclic ligands were measured in various solvents to investigate the solvent effect on the charge transfer band for the axial cobalt-carbon bond by the extent of conjugation in the equatorial macrocyclic ring; completely conjugated, $CH_3CoL,\;C_6H_5CoL,\;CNCoL,\;CH_3CoL',\;CNCoL'$, partially conjugated $CH_3(py)Co(DH)_2, CH_3CoL"$, unconjugated dienes, $[CH_3Co(1,4-CT)](ClO_4)_2$, and open ring, $CH_3Co(salen)$. The position of the charge transfer band which corresponds to the cobalt-carbon bond was shifted to a shorter wavelength as the polarity of solvent increased and the transition energy $(E_T)$ had a linear relationship with solvent polarity parameter, Z-value, only in the case of completely conjugated system. However, the linear correlation between $E_T$and Z was not observed for partially conjugated and open ring systems.

        <P>Protein thermostability is a crucial issue in the practical application of enzymes, such as inorganic synthesis and enzymatic polymerization of phenol derivatives. Much attention has been focused on the enhancement and numerous successes have been achieved through protein engineering methods. Despite fruitful results based on random mutagenesis, it was still necessary to develop a novel strategy that can reduce the time and effort involved in this process. In this study, a rapid and effective strategy is described for increasing the thermal stability of a protein. Instead of random mutagenesis, a rational strategy was adopted to theoretically stabilize the thermo labile residues of a protein using computational methods. Protein residues with high flexibility can be thermo labile due to their large range of movement. Here, residue B factor values were used to identify putatively thermo labile residues and the RosettaDesign program was applied to search for stable sequences. Coprinus cinereus (CiP) heme peroxidase was selected as a model protein for its importance in commercial applications, such as the polymerization of phenolic compounds. Eleven CiP residues with the highest B factor values were chosen as target mutation sites for thermostabilization, and then redesigned using RosettaDesign to identify sequences. Eight mutants based on the redesigns, were produced as functional enzymes and two of these (S323Y and E328D) showed increased thermal stability over the wild-type in addition to conserved catalytic activity.         Morning Chronotype Decreases the Risk of Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy in Women With Breast Cancer

        Background: The purpose of this longitudinal prospective cohort study was to investigate the role of chronotype in the incidence of chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) among women with breast cancer. Methods: We recruited women with breast cancer awaiting adjuvant chemotherapy, including four cycles of docetaxel. Participants reported peripheral neuropathy symptoms of numbness/ tingling at the baseline, and at 4weeks after completion of chemotherapy. Candidate psychiatric factors associated with CIPN were assessed at the baseline, using the Composite Scale of Morningness, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale. To examine the association between chronotype and CIPN, we built logistic regression models, adjusting for demographic, clinical, and other psychiatric variables. Results: Among 48 participants, 29 participants developed CIPN. The morning chronotype was inversely associated with CIPN (odds ratio, 0.06; confidence interval, 0.01–0.74; P = 0.028) after adjusting for age, BMI, education, type of operation, alcohol use, smoking, sleep quality, depression, and anxiety. Conclusion: Our results suggest that the morning chronotype is a protective factor against the development of CIPN in patients with breast cancer who were treated with docetaxel.

        Construction of heterologous gene expression cassettes for the development of recombinant Clostridium beijerinckii

        <P>Gene-expression cassettes for the construction of recombinant Clostridium beijerinckii were developed as potential tools for metabolic engineering of C. beijerinckii. Gene expression cassettes containing ColE1 origin and pAMB origin along with the erythromycin resistance gene were constructed, in which promoters from Escherichia coli, Lactococcus lactis, Ralstonia eutropha, C. acetobutylicum, and C. beijerinckii are examined as potential promoters in C. beijerinckii. Zymogram analysis of the cell extracts and comparison of lipase activities of the recombinant C. beijerinckii strains expressing Pseudomonas fluorescens tliA gene suggested that the tliA gene was functionally expressed by all the examined promoters with different expression level. Also, recombinant C. beijerinckii expressing C. beijerinckii secondary alcohol dehydrogenase by the constructed expression cassettes successfully produced 2-propanol from glucose. The best promoter for TliA expression was the R. eutropha phaP promoter while that for 2-propanol production was the putative C. beijerinckii pta promoter. Gene expression cassettes developed in this study may be useful tools for the construction of recombinant C. beijerinckii strains as host strains for the valuable chemicals and fuels from renewable resources.</P>
