Finite Control Set Model Predictive Control of AC/DC Matrix Converter for Grid-Connected Battery Energy Storage Application

Bo Feng,Hua Lin 전력전자학회 2015 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.15 No.4

This paper presents a finite control set model predictive control (FCS-MPC) strategy for the AC/DC matrix converter used in grid-connected battery energy storage system (BESS). First, to control the grid current properly, the DC current is also included in the cost function because of input and output direct coupling. The DC current reference is generated based on the dynamic relationship of the two currents, so the grid current gains improved transient state performance. Furthermore, the steady state error is reduced by adding a closed-loop. Second, a Luenberger observer is adopted to detect the AC input voltage instead of sensors, so the cost is reduced and the reliability can be enhanced. Third, a switching state pre-selection method that only needs to evaluate half of the active switching states is presented, with the advantages of shorter calculation time, no high dv/dt at the DC terminal, and less switching loss. The robustness under grid voltage distortion and parameter sensibility are discussed as well. Simulation and experimental results confirm the good performance of the proposed scheme for battery charging and discharging control.

      • Prevalence and Age, Gender and Geographical Area Distribution of Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinomas in North China from 1985 to 2006

        Feng, Xiao-Shan,Yang, Yan-Tong,Gao, She-Gan,Ru, Yi,Wang, Gong-Ping,Zhou, Bo,Wang, Yu-Feng,Zhang, Peng-Fei,Li, Pu-Yu,Liu, Yong-Xuan Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.5

Objective: To establish the prevalence and distribution profile of esophageal squamous cell carcinomas (ESCCs) over a 22-yr period in North China. Methods: Using endoscopy for primary diagnosis and histological analysis for the further confirmation, a total of 74,854 ESCC patients aged 20-89 between January 1985 and December 2006 were investigated to analyze the epidemiological profile including prevalence rates, distribution of age-of-onset, gender and geographical area of ESCC in Luoyang, the highest incidence area of North China. Results: A total of 4092 cases of ESCC were finally diagnosed among 74,854 patients who had their first endoscopies. The prevalence among males was higher than that among females (p<0.01), resulting in an overall male:female OR of 1.2 (95%CI, 1.2-1.3). The prevalence in rural areas was higher than in urban areas (p<0.01), resulting in an overall rural:urban OR of 2.6 (95%CI, 2.4-2.9). The rural:urban ORs and the 95% CI increased continuously from 2.6, 2.3-3.0 to 2.7, 2.2-3.3, respectively, for 4 consecutive periods during the 22-yr study period. Moreover, the median age of onset among females was higher than that among males (p<0.01). For both sexes and in both areas, the prevalence rates declined and the median age of onset rose for 4 consecutive periods in the 22-yrs time frame (p<0.01). Conculsions: These data reveal the epidemiological profile of ESCC in the area of North China, and suggest that urban areas and rural people account for a growing proportion of the ESCC patients although the prevalence of ESCC significantly declined and the median age-of-onset postponed over the 22-yrs period. Moreover, the prevalence status of ESCC in rural areas also underlines the need for public health initiatives aimed at reducing risk factors of this fatal disease.

An Analytical Research about Parameter Influence on Large-Scale Anchorage Region with Multiple CFRP Cables

Bo Feng,Jitao Zhong,Hongming Li 대한토목학회 2021 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.25 No.2

This study investigates the mechanical properties of carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) cable at the anchoring region where arrange the adhesive material with different mediums aiming at reducing the high stress concentration. The 3D finite element (FE) model was established based on cable force of 100t and 1000t, and its accuracy was verified by experimental results. The effects of geometrical dimensions and mediums stiffness on anchoring capacity of the cable was studied. The results show that the proposed anchorage gets high anchoring efficiency. The gradient variation of the stiffness of the adhesive material can effectively reduce the stress crest of the cable at the anchorage region. The distributions of the radial and shear stress of the cable at the anchorage region become comparatively flat with the increase in the number of segments. The variation stiffness and length ratio have the main influence on the stress of the cable in three orientations. Friction coefficient and internal taper have the secondary effects on the radial stress and the axial displacement. Anchor length and thickness of adhesive material only affect the radial stress. Anchorage design should primarily focus on the stiffness and length ratio of the adhesive material. The anchoring method proposed in this paper is helpful to anchor multi-tendon cables efficiently, and promote the application of high-capacity FRP cables in large-span spatial structure.

IFIT1 Expression Patterns Induced by H9N2 Virus and Inactivated Viral Particle in Human Umbilical Vein Endothelial Cells and Bronchus Epithelial Cells

        Bo Feng,Qian Zhang,Jianfang Wang,Hong Dong,Xiang Mu,Ge Hu,Tao Zhang 한국분자세포생물학회 2018 Molecules and cells Vol.41 No.4

IFIT1 (also known as ISG56) is a member of the interferoninducible protein with tetratricopeptide repeats (IFITs) family. IFITs are strongly induced by type I interferon (IFN), doublestranded RNA and virus infection. Here, we investigated IFIT1 expression in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) and in human bronchus epithelial cells (BEAS-2Bs) induced by the H9N2 virus and inactivated viral particle at different time points. We also investigated the effect of H9N2 virus and viral particle infection on IFN-α/β production, and assessed whether hemagglutinin or neuraminidase protein induced IFIT1 expression. Results showed that both H9N2 virus infection and viral particle inoculation induced the expression of IFIT1 at mRNA and protein levels in the two cell lines. Hemagglutinin or neuraminidase protein binding alone is not sufficient to induce IFIT1 expression. Surprisingly, the expression patterns of IFIT1 in response to H9N2 virus and viral particles in the two cell lines were opposite, and production kinetics of IFN-α/β also differed. An additional finding was that induction of IFIT1 in response to H9N2 virus infection or viral particle inoculation was more sensitive in HUVECs than in BEAS-2Bs. Our data offers new insight into the innate immune response of endothelial cells to H9N2 virus infection.

      • Antimicrobial Activity of a Honeybee (Apis cerana) Venom Kazal-Type Serine Protease Inhibitor

        Bo Yeon Kim,Kwang Sik Lee,Feng Ming Zou,Hu Wan,Yong Soo Choi,Hyung Joo Yoon,Hyung Wook Kwon,Yeon Ho Je,Byung Rae Jin 한국응용곤충학회 2013 한국응용곤충학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2013 No.10

Insect-derived Kazal-type serine protease inhibitors exhibit thrombin, elastase, plasmin, proteinase K, or subtilisin A inhibition activity, but so far, no functional roles for bee-derived Kazal-type serine protease inhibitors have been identified. In this study, a bee (Apis cerana) venom Kazal-type serine protease inhibitor (AcKTSPI) that acts as a microbial serine protease inhibitor was identified. AcKTSPI contained a single Kazal domain that displayed six conserved cysteine residues and a P1 threonine residue. AcKTSPI was expressed in the venom gland and was present as a 10-kDa peptide in bee venom. Recombinant AcKTSPI Kazal domain (AcKTSPI-Kd) expressed in baculovirus-infected insect cells demonstrated inhibitory activity against subtilisin A (Ki 67.03 nM) and proteinase K (Ki 91.53 nM), but not against α-chymotrypsin or typsin, which implies a role for AcKTSPI as a microbial serine protease inhibitor. However, AcKTSPI-Kd exhibited no detectable inhibitory effects on factor Xa, thrombin, tissue plasminogen activator, or elastase. Additionally, AcKTSPI-Kd bound directly to Bacillus subtilis, B. thuringiensis, Beauveria bassiana, and Fusarium graminearum but not to Escherichia coli. Consistent with these findings, AcKTSPI-Kd showed antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacteria and antifungal activity against both plant-pathogenic and entomopathogenic fungi. These findings constitute molecular evidence that AcKTSPI acts as an inhibitor of microbial serine proteases. This paper provides a novel view of the antimicrobial functions of a bee venom Kazal-type serine protease inhibitor.

Hierarchical Colored Petri Nets Based Components for Workflow Systems

        Feng Zhou,Rui-Feng Bo,Hong-Zhong Huang,Dan Ling,Qiang Miao 대한기계학회 2006 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.20 No.10

Workflow systems have benefited the enterprise and customer in many aspects. But with the increasing complexity of the system, workflow design becomes a complicated and time-consuming process. In this paper, we model the system based on the Hierarchical Colored Petri Nets (HCPN) to avoid the complexity of the system, and the super nets of the model are abstracted as independent components to increase the flexibility, acceptability and maintainability of the system. Another important characteristic of this model is its convenience for reuse and workflow mining. The development process of the overhead traveling crane was given to demonstrate the proposed method.

Surface quality prediction model of nano-composite ceramics in ultrasonic vibration-assisted ELID mirror grinding

        Bo Zhao,Fan Chen,Xiao-feng Jia,Chong-yang Zhao,Xiao-bo Wang 대한기계학회 2017 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.31 No.4

Ultrasonic vibration-assisted Electrolytic in-process dressing (ELID) grinding is a highly efficient and highly precise machining method. The surface quality prediction model in ultrasonic vibration-assisted ELID mirror grinding was studied. First, the interaction between grits and workpiece surface was analyzed according to kinematic mechanics, and the surface roughness model was developed. The variations in surface roughness under different parameters was subsequently calculated and analyzed by MATLAB. Results indicate that compared with the ordinary ELID grinding, ultrasonic vibration-assisted ELID grinding is superior, because it has more stable and better surface quality and has an improved range of ductile machining.

A Fractional Fourier Transform-Based Approach for Gas-Insulated Switchgear Partial Discharge Recognition

        Feng-Chang Gu,Feng-Chang Gu,Bo-Yan Chen 대한전기학회 2019 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.14 No.5

Partial discharge (PD) is very likely to deteriorate the insulating materials in power facilities. For this sake, PD detection and pattern recognition are treated as an effective approach to diagnosing the high-voltage insulation of power systems. A novel PD feature extraction approach for defect pattern recognition of a gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) is developed and then presented in this paper, using fractional Fourier transform (FrFT). A PD detector is utilized to measure the PD signal of the GIS using an ultra high frequency sensor, which is first transformed to its FrFT as the order ranges from 0 to 1. A 3D characteristic spectrum is then constructed, according to which the fractal parameters are extracted as the constituents of the cluster domains of defect types. Extension matter-element models of the PD defect types are then established according to the experimentally derived PD features. Subsequently, the PD defect type can be directly identified using the correlation degree between a tested pattern and the matter-element models. The pattern recognition performance is investigated on 80 sets of PD patterns, and the performance of the proposed approach is demonstrated accordingly. High accuracy, accompanied with high tolerance, was reached in the presence of noise interference using FrFT.
