Objective : The purpose of this report is to examine the effects of direct moxibustion in the Low back pain patient. Methods : Clinical studies were done 30 patients who were treated with low back pain to Dept. of Acupuncture & Moxibustion, of Oriental Medical Sang-Ji University from September 1, 2003 to August 31, 2004. We treated them by Oriental medical therapy(including direct moxibustion)for 10 days. The evaluation was performed five times(admission day, before and after each twice). Results : 1. VAS was decreased after direct moxibustion for 10 days significantly(p<0.01). 2. After direct moxibustion, S.L.R. T angle of patients were increased. ConclUsions : We brought to the conclusion that direct moxibustion has possibility to the efficient to cure the Low back pain. So we suggest the possibility to use this treatment for Low back pain.
Genetic Analysis of Seedling Traits Regulated by Light in Weedy Rice

The Korean weedy rice, PBR (photoblastic rice) was reported to have light-inducible seed germination (photoblastism) and long mesocotyl. In previous studies, we mapped two QTL each for photoblastism and mesocotyl length using progeny from a cross between Ilpumbyeo and PBR. One F8 line CR7124 having photoblastism and long mesocotyl, was chosen and crossed to Ilpumbyeo to produce 95 F3 lines for QTL mapping. Germination percentage of CR7124 and Ilpumbyeo was 3.3 ± 2.4% and 91.7 ± 7.1%, respectively in the dark condition. 95 F3 lines ranged from 28.6% to 100% in germination. For mesocotyl, Ilpumbyeo and PBR elongated up to 1.5 mm and 18.5 mm, respectively whereas 95 F3 lines ranged from 0.9 mm to 16.3 mm. The mesocotyl length showed highly negative significant correlation with germination rate in dark condition (r = 0.70, P < 0.0001). QTL mapping using 95 F3 lines confirmed the linkage of two QTL for photoblastism and mesocotyl length on chromosome 1. Eight F4 lines with different PBR chromosome segments in the target region were used for substitution mapping of pbr1 and qMel-1. It appears that qMel-1 was located in the interval RM11252 - RM7419, a region of approximately 4.7 Mb. pbr1 was located in the interval between RM7202 and RM11729. Although further fine mapping of two QTL is necessary to know the relationship of these two traits, these results together with the highly significant correlation between two traits indicate that two QTL are linked. DNA markers linked to these QTLs would be useful in facilitating the selection of lines with enhanced mesocotyl elongation.

Background: Postmenopausal osteoporosis is a common disease which can cause various morbidity and economic burden. Lactation is known to cause a decline in bone mineral density (BMD), but there are controversies on whether decreased BMD is fully recovered after lactation and whether lactation duration has an influence on postmenopausal BMD. This study was conducted to see whether breastfeeding is associated with postmenopausal bone loss using a highly representative sample of Korean population. Methods: Retrospective cross sectional study was done using data collected from Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey V. The study outcome was BMD measured with dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry and divided into 2 groups: normal or low BMD (T score<-1), and breastfeeding duration was categorized into 4 groups (never, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd tertile). Logistic regression analysis was done to examine the association between lactation duration and BMD. Results: Among 1,694 postmenopausal women (mean age, 63.5±9.1), 85.71% were in low BMD group. Compared to never breastfeeding group, postmenopausal women with longer than 79 months of breastfeeding duration are more likely to have low BMD (adjusted risk ratio [ARR]=1.24; 95% confidence interval, 1.17 to 1.32). As the duration of breastfeeding increases, ARR and risk difference for low BMD also increases (P for trend=0.008). Conclusion: The study results showed that total breastfeeding duration was associated with postmenopausal low BMD. All women planning on breastfeeding should be aware of its risks and should take adequate dietary calcium and vitamin D before, during, and after breastfeeding.
Nutritional and antioxidant status by skin types among female adults

This study was performed to analyze the relationship among sebum?hydration content of the skin and nutritional intake, serum antioxidant minerals and antioxidant enzymes, and lipid peroxide concentration in 50 female subjects in their 20s. The skin type was divided into Dry Skin, Mixed Skin, and Oily Skin, and the dry skin group was 14%, the mixed skin group was 56%, and the oily skin group was 30% of all subjects. The average age of the subjects was 20.54 ± 1.43 years and BMI was 20.66. The average sebum content in each group was in the order of T-zone>forehead>chin>cheek. In case of the T-zone, a significant difference between the dry skin group and the oily skin group was observed, suggesting that the area is most sensitive to sebum content by skin type. Significant differences were not observed in energy and nutrient intakes by skin type. Serum concentrations of antioxidant minerals such as copper, manganese, zinc and selenium were not significantly different among the groups, but the dry skin group tended to be higher than the oily skin group. Serum catalase was significantly higher in the oily skin group (P<0.05), and MDA was significantly higher in the mixed skin group (P<0.05). The hydration of the cheek and serum zinc showed a negative correlation, and the sebum content of the cheek and GPx showed a significant negative correlation. The hydration of the forehead and serum copper showed a significant negative correlation, and the hydration of the forehead and GPx showed a significant positive correlation. The hydration of the chin and serum SOD showed a significant positive correlation. With these results, it is considered that the basic condition of nutritional status can affect the skin health.

Aims: Multi-echo modified Dixon (mDixon) sequence (MR-PDFF) is asafe and non-invasive alternative for the quantification of hepaticfat content. And it has accepted reasonable method to assess thechange of hepatic fat amount in phase II study. Recently controlledattenuation parameter (CAP) has been showed good correlation withintrahepatic fat amount compare to liver biopsy as well as MRS data in large cross sectional cohort. However there is little known whetherchange of CAP scores can be used in clinical trial. We investigatedthe correlation with CAP and MRS by serial examination in clinicaltrial setting.Methods: Sixty-five NAFLD patients were evaluated with MRS andtransient elastography including CAP in clinical study. Both MRS andCAP were evaluated after three month probiotic clinical trial in patientswith NAFLD.Results: Baseline CAP and MR-PDFF showed good correlation assessinghepatic steatosis (r=0.60, p<0.001). Also, changes of CAP value wasalso correlated with changes of intra-hepatic fat % using MR-PDFF(r=0.35, p=0.008) in clinical trial setting. Concordance rate of improvementor aggravation was comparable in both two methods. However,the less change amount was small in CAP value, the less concordancerate showed more weak with MR-PDFF. When the change of CAPvalue after treatment was less than 20, concordance rate withMR-PDFF was decreased to 15/25 (60%).Conclusions: CAP and MRS have a comparable diagnostic value forthe hepatic steatosis quantification as well as assessing changes ofhepatic fat amount in clinical trial. However, a careful interpretationof the steatosis change using CAP score should be given when theabsolute change value was less than 20 in clinical trial setting.

<P>The prognostic significance of molecular mutations (FLT3-ITD, NPM1, and CEBPA mutations) was examined in patients with normal-karyotype acute myeloid leukaemia (NK-AML) after allogeneic haematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT). In total, 115 patients received allogeneic HCT for NK-AML and were evaluated for FLT3-ITD, NPM1, and CEBPA mutations in diagnostic samples and for long-term outcomes following HCT, retrospectively. The prevalences of FLT3-ITDpos, NPM1 (mut), and CEBPA (dm) (double mutations) were 32.2, 43.5, and 24.6 %, respectively. The triple-negative group (NPM1 (wild)/FLT3-ITDneg/non-CEBPA (dm)) showed a similar transplant outcome to those in the favourable European LeukemiaNet (ELN) risk group for overall survival (OS) (60.9 vs. 63.7 %; p = 0.810), but a more favourable OS than others in the intermediate-I risk group (40.0 %; p = 0.034). Also, the triple-negative group showed a similar relapse rate at 5 years compared with those in the favourable risk group (9.7 vs. 15.5 %; p = 0.499), but a lower rate of relapse than the others in the intermediate-I risk group (15.5 vs. 48.6 %; p = 0.004). The 5-year relapse incidences were 4.0 % (NPM1 (mut)/FLT3-ITDneg), 14.7 % (CEBPA (dm)), 15.5 % (NPM1 (wild)/FLT3-ITDneg/non-CEBPA (dm)), 39.1 % (NPM1 (mut)/FLT3-ITDpos/non-CEBPA (dm)), and 66.7 % (NPM1 (wild)/FLT3-ITDpos/non-CEBPA (dm)). Thus, the triple-negative (NPM1 (wild)/FLT3-ITDneg/non-CEBPA (dm)) group showed favourable long-term outcomes after allogeneic HCT in NK-AML, similar to those of the favourable risk group by the ELN risk classification.</P>
Influence of the gas mixture ratio on the electrical and ferroelectric properties of PLZT thin films

A (Pb0.92La0.08)(Zr0.65Ti0.35)O3 (PLZT) ferroelectric thin film was deposited on deposited on TiO2 buffered layer on top of a Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si substrate by RF magnetron sputtering method. The effect of the Ar/O2 partial pressure ratio on the ferroelectric properties of PLZT thin films was investigated at various Ar/O2 partial pressure ratios such as 27/1.5, 23/5.5, 21/7.5 and 19/9.5 sccm. The crystallinities of PLZT thin films were analyzed by XRD. The surface morphology was characterized by FESEM. The P-E hysteresis loops, the remnant polarization characteristics and the leakage current characteristics were obtained using a precision LC. With an increase of the oxygen partial pressure ratio, the crystallinity was decreased. Also the preferred orientation of PLZT thin films was changed from the (110) plane to the (111) plane. Results indicated that the change of the oxygen partial pressure ratio significantly affects the thin film surface morphology and the ferroelectric properties.

Recently, KARI implemented the receiving and processing system for MODIS sensor data from NASA EOS satellites (TERRA and AQUA). This paper shows the development strategy considered, system requirement derived, system design, characteristic and test results of processing system. System operation concept and sample image are also provided. Implemented system was proven to be fully operational through lots of pass operations activities from RF signal reception to level-l processing.
