Objectives : Mistletoe extracts have been in use for around 85 years, predominantly in the area of cancer therapy. Today mistletoe preparations are among the most prescribed drugs in cancer medicine, thus constituting a standard biological therapy in the area of oncology. The purpose of this study is to analyze the practical implications of mistletoe cancer therapy, their clinical status, their preparation techniques and companies. Contents : Mistletoe therapy for cancer has been developed within the context of anthroposophical medicine. One major effect of mistletoe extract is that it stimulates the immune system and cancer defences. In Germany, a total of eight different mistletoe preparations are available, five developed by Anthroposophic Medicine and three evolved from research in phytotherapy. Therapy always consists of an introductory phase in order to test the patient's tolerance, find the right dosage and choose the most suitable preparation. This paper covers the background of mistletoe medical plant materials, mistletoe therapy for cancer, the anthroposophical medicine and clinical research, the practical regulation of treatment, preparation of mistletoe drugs. Result & suggestion : Mistletoe extracts are a complementary teratment of cancer, widely used in intergrative cancer care. The study of the integration of korean mistletoe extracts to oriental cancer medicine, its development and feasibility in Korea are urgently needed. The products, substances, compositions of european mistletoe drugs are very similar to those of oriental medicine theory. Applying the mistletoe cancer therapy and its preparation techniques to oriental medicine, the herbal acupuncture preparation should be modernized and korean mistletoe products are to be developed. To this end, government and herbal acupuncture society need to interact each other for the development of oriental mistletoe cancer medicine.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to analyze the practical implications of homeopathic medicines, their status, their preparation systems and registration rules, recognized by the European Union and other countries. Contents : This paper covers the background of homeopathic medical principle, homeopathy throughout the world, the medicine status and clinical research, increases of the drug potency, the practical regulation of treatment, preparation techniques of homeopathic drugs and registration rules and the clinical practice. Homeopathy has been currently practised in over eighty countries throughout the world, especially in Europe. It had attracted considerable attentions in South and North America (notably in USA, Brazil, and Argentina), India and Pakistan. Although it is not dominantly popular in North America, constant growth has been nevertheless noted. Over the last thirty years, homeopathy has also developed or appeared in South Africa, Tunisia, Morocco, Venezuela, Israel, and Australia, etc. Result & suggestion : As over 300 million patients have put their trust in homeopathy, the study of the integration of homeopathy to oriental medicine, its development and feasibility in Korea are urgently needed. The products, substances, compositions of Homeopathic drugs are very similar to those of oriental medicine theory. Therefore their preparations and applications should prescribed and practised exclusively by oriental doctors. Applying the homeopathic theory and its preparation techniques to oriental medicine, the herbal acupuncture preparation should be modernized and various oriental products are to be developed. To this end, government and herbal acupuncture society need to interact each other for the development of oriental medicine.

운동의 종류에 따라 체중감량, 지방대사 및 체지방 분해, 근육기능에 미치는 효과가 각각 다르게 나타남을 보여준다. 많은 사람들이 살을 빼기위해 땀을 흘리는 유산소 운동을 선호하고 근육에 저항력을 키워주는 운동은 비만에 크게 도움이 안 된다고 인식하고 있다. 그러나 근육 저항력을 키우는 근육 저항성 운동이 오히려 체내의 탄수화물, 지방대사 효율성을 증대 시키고 체지방을 분해시켜 체중 감량에도 효과적이다. 비만의 경우 대부분 대사증후군을 수반하여 고혈압 , 제 2 형 당뇨병, 심혈관질환, 암등을 야기 시키는데 이러한 대사증후군이 나타나는 비만인의 경우 체중감소효과 및 대사증후군 개선 효과 면에서 근육 저항성이 약한 유산소운동(strenuous exercise )보다 저항력을 주는 근육저항운동(resistance exercise) 이 현저하게 높게 나타나고 있다 . 특히 여성들의 경우 운동의 종류와 강도에 따라 여성 호르몬 에스트로겐의 생성과 분비에 커다란 영향을 미치게 되고 그에 따라 여성 생리주기, 골밀도, 조직성장, 임신, 출산 등에 커다란 변화가 관찰되어 진다. 이러한 여성 호르몬의 변화는 비만여성의 경우 체중 감량에도 크게 영향을 주는 것으로 밝히고 있다 The adipositas is associated with a metabolic syndrom. This metabolic syndrom is characterized by obesity, increased Triglyceride, VLDL and decreased HDL cholesterol concentrations as well as elevated concentrations of blood glucose and insuline. A large number of investigations has proven that resistance exercise is effective in the treatment and prevention of the metabolic syndrome and the associated body weight reductions. Resistance exercise has been shown to be associated with higher HDL cholesterol and lower triglycerides as well as a reduction of small dense LDL cholesterol. This effect can be explained by a reduction in body fat, improvement of the fat metabolic function of the adipocyte, increased fatty acid turnover in muscular metabolism. Hardtraining activity in females induces menstrual cycle irregularities. Menstrual cycle disorders caused by hardtraining, body over weight, low body weight, malnutrition and stress with persisting amenorrhea may lead to infertility and osteoporotic problems in advanced ages. Resistance exercise is very important to avoid serious damage to the females ovar funtion and body weight control. It is the responsibility of trainers to recognize these factors and provide for the necessary body over weight.

A new homologous series with the general formula in which n is the longitudinal alkyloxy group, n=1-10, was synthesized. The thermotropic and liquid crystalline properties were studied by differential scanning calorimetry and on the hot-stage of a polarizing microscope. All of the new compounds were monotropic and texture observations proved that all investigated homologues with n=1-10 exhibited nematic phases. Also, the compounds showed pronounced alternation effects in the homologous series with constant lateral bridging group, oxydecamethyleneoxy, but increasing longitudinal chains, n. n=1-10으로 종축방향의 알킬옥시기를 갖는 아래 구조의 새로운 동족계열 화합물을 합성하였다. 이들의 열적 및 액정성질을 DSC와 가열판이 부착된 편광현미경을 사용하여 조사하였다. 새로운 화합물들은 모두 단방성이었고, 조사된 동족계열, n=1-10, 화합물들의 구조는 네마틱상을 나타내었다. 또한 화합물들은 일정한 측면 다리기, 옥시데카메틸렌옥시,를 가지며 종축사슬, n을 증가시켰을 때 동족 계열내에서 교대효과를 나타내었다.
Bis(p-substituted phenyl) 2-decyloxyterephthalate의 액정 특성에 대한 치환기 효과

Eleven new compounds that are composed of bis(p-substituted phenyl) terephthalate unitand the decyloxy pendant as lateral were synthesized and their thermal and liquid crystalline properties were studied by the differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and on a hot-stage of a polarizing microscope. The ter-minal substituent groups of the compound were varied; X= -H(II-H), -F(lI-F), -CII(II-CI), -Br(ll-Br), -I(II-I), -$NO_2(lI-NO_2$), $-CF_3(II-CF_3$), -$OC_2H_5(II-OC_2H_5$), -$OC_4H_9(II-OC_4H_9$), -$C_6H_5(Il-C_6H_5$). The compounds of $II-OC_2H_5,\;II-OC_4H_9$ and $II-C_6H_5$ were monotropically nematic. In contrast, the compounds of Il-H, II-F, II-Cl, II-Br, II-I, $lI-NO_2$, $II-CF_3$, and II-CN did not show liquid crystalline properties. 비스(파라-치환페닐)테레프탈산 에스테르의 중앙 테레프탈산 벤젠고리 측면에 데실옥시기가 결합하고 있는 열한개의 새로운 화합물을 합성하였고, 이들의 열적 및 액정 성질을 DSC와 가열판이 부착된 편광현미경을 사용하여 조사하였다. 메소겐의 말단 치환기 X= -H(II-H), -F(II-F), -Cl(Il-Cl), -Br(Il-Br), -I(II-I), -$NO_2(lI-NO_2$), $-CF_3(II-CF_3$), -$OC_2H_5(II-OC_2H_5$), -$OC_4H_9(II-OC_4H_9$), -CN(II-CN) 및 -$C_6H_5(Il-C_6H_5$)로 바꾸었다. $II-OC_2H_5,\;II-OC_4H_9$, 및 $II-C_6H_5$는 단방성 네마틱 액정이었으며, II-H, lI-F, II-Cl, Il-Br, II-I, $II-NO_2$, $II-CF_3$, 및 Il-CN은 액정이 아니었다.

옥시폴리메틸렌옥시 유연격자를 갖는 새로운 H-자형 쌍동이 분자의 동족계열 액정화합물(PPPA-n)을 p-페닐페놀과 ${\alpha},{\omega}$-bis(2,5-dicarboxyphenoxy)alkanes 산염화물의 에스터화반응에 의하여 합성하였다. 유연격자의 길이는 옥시에틸렌옥시(n=2)에서 옥시데카메틸렌옥시(n=10)로 바꾸었다. 이들의 열역학적 값은 시차주사열분석기에 의하여 측정되어졌고,액정성은 가열판이 부착된 편광현미경에 의하여 조사되어졌다. A homologous series of new H-shaped twin liquid crystal molecules (PPPA-n) with flexible spacers, oxypolymethyleneoxy, has been prepared by esterification of acid chloride of $\alpha$,$\omega$-bis(2,5-dicar-boxyphenoxy) alkanes with p-phenylphenol. The length of spacer was varied from oxyethyleneoxy (n=2) to oxydecamethyleneoxy (n=10). Their thermodynamic data were measured by differential scanning calorimetry and liquid crystalline properties were investigated by a hot-stage polarizing microscope.
