장티푸스환자의 혈청내 Salmonella typhi에 대한 IgG subclass항체의 분포

To diagnose the typhoid fever rapidly and accurately in clinically suspected patients, the levels of IgG subclass antibody were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA). With symptom, blood culture and agglutination test, tested persons were categorized into 6 groups as typhoid fever, FUO, paratyphi A or B, other bacterial infctions, cancers, and control. ELISA was performed on the polyvinyl chloride plates coated with killed whole cell($10^8\;cell/ml$) of S. typhi 0901W by poly-L-lysine applied as binding substance (and polyvinyl chloride as solid phase). The distribution of the level of IgG subclass antibodies in each group was analyzed and compared with other groups. The results obtained were summarized as follow: 1. The optimal dilution of the sera from patients with typhoid fever was 1:160, and those of the sheep anti-human IgG subclass and the peroxidase conjugated rabbit anti-sheep IgG were 1:4000 and 1:5000, respectively. 2. The absorbance levels of IgG subclass in the sera of typhoid fever patients were as follows; a) IgG1 value is $0.439{\pm}0.110$ b) IgG2 value is $0.416{\pm}0.165$ c) IgG3 value is $0.449{\pm}0.145$ d) IgG4 value is $0.525{\pm}0.154$ IgG subclass levels in the sera of typhoid patients were much higher than in control group and patient with paratyphi A or B as well as other infectious diseases. The sensitivity and the specificity in differential diagnosis of typhoid fever and other febrile diseases were 92% and 79% in the assay of IgG1 respectively, whereas those in the assay of IgG2 were 97% and 72%, respectively (above absorbance 0.3). 3. The absorbance levels of IgG subclass in the serial sera of typhiod fever patients tend to decrease to the level of absorbance 0.3 in 10 months from the onset of illness. 4. The order of absorbance levels of IgG subclass in the serum of each group were typhoid fever, paratyphi A or B, other infectious diseases, control and cancer. 5. For the serodiagnosis of typhoid fever against other febrile diseases, the sensitivity and the specificity in the assay of IgG2 activity were 76% and 93% in absorbance 0.4, respectively. 6. In the distribution of the level of each IgG subclass in the sera of FUO patients which were suspected of typhoid fever, the positive rate was ranged from 36% to 82%. This suggest that more than 50% of FUO patients are caused by S. typhi.

The effect of protein constituents of six-year old fresh Panax ginseng root on chick embryonic brain, spinal cord and skeletal muscle dissociation cultures was studied. The protein constituents showed the enhancing effect on cultured brain, spinal cord and skeletal muscle cells. The neurite formation from brain and spinal cord cells and the outgrowth of neurite seemed to be enhanced by almost all of the protein constituents employed for this study. The maturation of skeletal muscle cells was stimulated by the protein constituents. This enhancing effect of the protein constituents was more vivid when brain, spinal cord and skeletal muscle cells were cultured with a medium which did not contain chick embryonic extracts known as an essential component for primary cell culture. The protein fraction having molecular weight range of 1,000 to 5,000 out of all the protein fractions employed for this study showed the most stimulatory effect on cultured brain, spinal cord and skeletal muscle cells.
PPO 저해 제초제 내성 유전자변형 벼가 절지동물군집에 미치는 영향

유전자변형 작물이 절지동물에 미칠 수 있는 잠재적인 부정적 영향은 유전자변형 작물의 주요한 환경위해성의 하나로 여겨지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 PPO (protoporphyrinogen oxidase) 저해 제초제 내성 유전자변형 벼가 절지동물에 미칠 수 있는 영향을 평가하기 위하여 절지동물의 다양성과 군집구조를 조사하였다. 절지동물은 야외포장에서 벼의 생육기간 동안 황색점착트랩을 이용하여 채집하였다. 유전자변형 벼는 채집된 절지동물군집의 다양도 지수에 유의한 영향을 주지 않았다. 또한 다변량분석(PerMANOVA, NMDS) 결과에서도 절지동물군집 구조는 채집시기에 따라 달랐지만 벼의 유전형(유전자변형 또는 비변형)에 의해 영향을 받지 않았다. One of the primary concerns about the environmental risks of genetically modified (GM) crops is that they may have adverse effects on the local arthropod communities. In this study, we investigated whether the arthropod diversity and community structure in fields of GM rice tolerant to protoporphyrinogen oxidase (PPO)-inhibiting herbicides differ from those in non-GM (control) rice fields. The aim of this study was to assess the potential adverse effects of GM rice on the local arthropod communities. During the growing seasons in the study period, we collected arthropods from both fields by using yellow sticky traps and compared the diversity and community structure of arthropods from the two sites. Overall, the GM rice had no significant effect on the diversity of the local arthropod communities. In addition, multivariate analyses (permutational multivariate analysis of variance and nonmetric multidimensional scaling) showed that the structures of arthropod communities were not affected by the rice genotype (GM vs. non-GM), although these comparisons were made using data obtained at different sampling dates.

Combination treatment of antiplatelet drugs containing aspirin and clopidogrel reduces systemic ischemic events after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in high risk patients. However, this combination treatment of antiplatelet drugs is associated with increased risk of nonfatal and fatal bleeding. Diffuse alveolar hemorrhage after PCI is a rare complication that has been mostly reported in associa-tion with glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitors. We report the case of a 62-year-old man who presented with ST elevation myocardial infarction and suffered a diffuse alveolar hemorrhage after clopidogrel use following primary PCI.

N/A Background : Hepaitis A virus(HAV) infection occurs commonly during early childhood. Recent improvements in sanitation and hygiene have resulted in a decrease in HAV infection among children, while the clinical illness of hepatitis A and prevalence of antibody to HAV(anti-HAV IgG) have been increased, particularly in the 3rd decade of young male adults. We studied a seroepidemiology of anti-HAV IgG in combat policemen who were living together during their service in the combat police force. Methods : We measured anti-HAV IgG(HAVAB, Abbott) from 1,009 healthy subjects with no history of transfusion of any blood products during the last 6 months. The mean age was 20.8 years. Results : Overall, anti-HAV IgG was detected in 30.2% of study subjects. According to age, the positive rates of antibody were 15.7%, 25.9%, 31.5%, 38.1%, 43.5%, and 50.0% in 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, and 24 years respectively. The positive rates of anti-HAV IgG as to period of service were 17.3%, 28.1%, 40.9% in 0 month, 1-12 months, 13-24 months respectively. The positive rates of anti-HAV IgG were 27.0% in the urban group, 39.8% in the rural group. Conclusion : The positive rates of anti-HAV IgG in our data low compared with those of previous reports. We think that group living condition such as living in dormitories or barracks can be a risk factors for hepatitis A infection and that improvements to the sanitary system and active immunization would be necessary for prevention of it.(Korean J Med 57:988-993, 1999)

Effects of water extracts of Torilis Fructus, Rubus hructus, Schizandrae Fructus, Lycii Fructus and Cuscutae Semen on the immune system of ICR mice fed with normal diet and fed with protein deficient were investigated. In control group, body weight, the ratio of spleen per body weight, the ratio of thymus per body weight, peritoneal exudate cell number, total serum protein and albumin content were decreased in case of mice fed with protein deficient diet as compared to the mice fed with normal diet. Without regard to kinds of diet, water extracts of Torilis Fructus, Rubus the ratio of spleen per body weight and total serum protein and albumin content. Characteristic electrophoresis patterns of serum protein were obtained according to kinds of diet and sample.
호텔종사원이 인지하는 조직풍토가 직무만족도 및 이직의도에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

본 연구에서는 호텔종사원이 인지하는 조직풍토가 직무만족도 및 이직의도에 미치는 영향을 고찰하고, 이러한 인과관계에서 고용형태의 조절효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 실증연구를 수행하기 위해 확보된 356개의 표본을 바탕으로 연구 모형의 신뢰성, 적합성 등을 검토하였고, 구조방정식을 사용하여 총 6개의 가설을 검증하였으며, 모형의 적합도는 χ²=641.310(df 234), p<.001, CMIN/df=2.741, GFI=.874, NFI=.889, TLI=.912, CFI=.926, RMSEA=.070 등으로 조사되었다. 연구결과, 조직풍토의 자율성, 지원, 보상은 직무만족도에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 직무만족도는 이직의도에 유의한 부(-)의 영향을 주는 것으로 조사되었다. 이를 통해 호텔종사원이 인지하는 조직풍토는 직무만족도에 유의한 영향을 미쳐 이직의도에 부정적인 영향을 미친다는 것을 확인 할 수 있었다. 한편, 조직풍토와 직무만족도 및 이직의도와의 인과관계에서 고용형태의 조절효과는 부분적으로 존재하는 것으로 조사되었다. The purposes of this study were to understand the influence of organizational climate in deluxe hotel staff members on job satisfaction and turnover intention. Based on a total 356 students surveys obtained by the empirical research, the study reviewed the reliability and fitness of the research model and verified total two hypotheses with the Amos program. The hypothesized relationships in the model were tested simultaneously by using a structural equation model(SEM). The proposed model provided an adequate fit for the data χ²=641.310(df 234), p<0.001, CMIN/df=2.741, GFI=0.874, NFI=0.889, TLI=0.912, CFI=0.926, RMSEA=0.070. The model’s fit, as indicated by these indexes, was deemed satisfactory, thus it provided a good basis for testing the hypothesized paths. The SEM showed that relational autonomous(β=0.112), support(β=0.452), reward orientation(β=0.269) had a positive significant influence on job satisfaction. Also job satisfaction(β =-0.550) had a negative significant influence on turnover intention. Limitations and future research directions are also discussed.
목뼈 견인치료가 긴장성 두통을 가진 노인 여성의 통증, 관절가동범위 및 수면의 질에 미치는 영향

Purpose : The purpose of this work was to ascertain the effects of cervical traction on the pain, the range of motion and the quality of sleep of the older women with the tension headache. Method : 25 subjects between ages 66 and 82 who agreed on this experiment and diagnosed with tension headache participated in this study. All subjects were treated with air-pressure cervical traction while 20 minutes a day, 3 times per week, for 4 weeks. The effects of air-pressure cervical traction were evaluated by PSQI(Pittsburgh sleep quality index), a pain last a day, VAS, and four ROMs. In order to investigate the effect of age on the treatment, subjects were divided into two groups, of less and of over than age 75. The measured data were analyzed by using one-way repeated ANOVA and two-way repeated ANOVA. Result : 1) The group of less than age 75 showed the significant improvements in all measurement variables, PSQI, a pain last a day, VAS and four ROMs. 2) The group of over than age 75 showed the significant improvements in all measurement variables excluding the flexion ROM of cervical. 3) No significant differences between two groups were showed in all measurement variables, but the interaction effect between group and period was significant in only VAS. Conclusion : From the results of this study, a cervical traction intervention using an air-pressure cervical traction proved to be effective on the reduction of tension headache and the improvement of the quality of sleep.
