To evaluate the rehabilitative care needs of the patients with spinal cord injury in this regional area, the complications which were seen in the department of rehabilitation medicine in Chungnam National University Hospital during the 1st year since the opening of the isolated rehabilitation medicine ward in September 1989 were analyzed. The study population was consisted of 25 men and 2 women. Nine cases (33.3%) were in the 20-29 age group and 11 cases (40.8%) were injured by traffic accident, the most common cause of traumatic spinal cord injury in this study. Sixteen cases(59.2%) were paraplegics and eleven cases(40.8%) were quardriplegics. The duration from the onset of injury to admission to the department of rehabilitation medicine ranged from 21 days to 14 years with mean of 18 months. The complications seen in this study were as follows. 1. Urinary tract infections, most common complication, were found in 14 cases (51.6%) followed by decubitus ulcers (44.4%), edema of leg (22.2%), spasticity (18.5%). 2. The most common organism of urinary tract infection was E.coli(43.0%). 3. Among the 22 cases which underwent IVP and VCUG, 2 cases showed hydronephrosis in IVP and 4 cases showed vesicoureteral reflux in VCUG. 4 The most common site of pressure sores was sacrum(53.3%). 5. The mean duration of pressure sore healing with non-surgical treatment was 18 days in Grade II and 42 days in Grade III. With the above results, it is concluded that most frequent complications of patients with spinal cord injury were urinary tract infection and pressure sores, with most of them being occurred before the admission to department of rehabilitation medicine and being treated completely during the stay in the department of rehabilitatiom medicine, and that the comprehensive rehabilitation treatment for the prevention of complications is necessary from the onset of injury.

It is difficult to analyze the behavior of the geogrid reinforced soil walls, because most of the design methods for the reinforced soil structures with geogrids are based on the theory of the rigid-plasticity which takes no account of displacement and deformation of reinforcing material in the soil. In this study, the finite element analyses of geogrid reinforced retaining walls are performed to suggest an useful design method which consider the displacement and deformation of reinforcing material in the soil. The reinforcing effects on geogrid reinforced retaining wall are related with the length and interval of reinforcing materials. So the effects are analyzed with four different interval of reinforcing materials. It can be concluded from the results of analyses that the wall displacement, the earth pressure on the wall, the vertical stress distribution in the foundation and the settlement of backfill surface are decreased in direct proportion to the decrease of the interval.

그룹프로젝트관리 지원을 위한 웹기반 정보보고시스템의 설계 및 구현

최근 국내 대기업들은 세분화된 팀조직을 그룹조직으로 확대 운영함으로서 프로젝트업무의 유동성과 조직 인력활용의 유연성을 가져왔지만 프로젝트를 추진함에 있어 의사소통체계가 복잡해지게 되는 문제가 발생하게 되었다. 대부분 대기업들이 사용하는 전사적 자원관리시스템은 정보배포에 초점을 맞추고 있어 그룹 내 프로젝트관리 의사소통의 문제를 효율적으로 해결하지 못하고 있는 것으로 조사되었다. 본 연구에서는 국내 제조건설 분야 대기업에 적용할 수 있는 그룹프로젝트관리 지원을 위한 웹 기반 정보보고시스템(WIRS : Webbased Information Reporting System)을 설계하고 프로토타입을 구현하였다. WIRS 구현을 통해 대규모 프로젝트의 시작에서부터 종료까지 소그룹 내 신속하고 원활한 의사소통 지원이 가능하게 되었고 전사적자원관리시스템의 커뮤니케이션 역량을 보완할 수 있게 된 데에 본 연구의 의의가 있다. 구체적으로 WIRS의 기능 설정하기 위해 현장 요구조사를 실시하였고 조사 결과를 바탕으로 데이터베이스를 설계하고 WIRS 프로세스 모델 설정을 위한 분석 및 기획을 수행하였다. 결과물에 대한 사용자 피드백은 대체로 긍정적이었으며, 특히 프로젝트 진행 관련 웹상에서 보고가 이루어진다는 점, 일일메모를 통하여 주간 보고서와 월간보고서가 자동적으로 생성된다는 점, 지시생성 및 일정정보공유기능 등을 긍정적으로 평가되었다. Today, large enterprises are changing their team organization to group organization. These trends have brought work flexibility of project and manpower usage. However, communication among group members has become more complicated, and it has been found that ERP was not efficient enough to solve this communication problem. The main purpose of this study was to design a quick and systematic communication system for group project management, and Web-based Information Reporting System (hence forth WIRS) has been proposed. The main topics covered in this paper are design of functions and system architecture, process model design, database design, and implementation of the prototype. Focus group interview was conducted and user feedback was positive about main functions for WIRS and its overall impact on the enhancement of productivity.

Background : Astilboides tabularis (Hemsl.) Engl. is a perennial herbaceous plant, distributed in the northern high mountains of the Korean peninsula and China. It is an excellent ornamental plant currently at risk of overharvesting and therefore, is designated as an endangered wild plant Class II by the Ministry of Environment. Physiological research on A. tabularis has not be reported. Therefore, in this study, using A. tabulari extracts, antioxidant and Anti-inflammatory effects were determined. Methods and Results : The antioxidant and free radical scavenging activities of A. tabularis extracts were evaluated using DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) assay. The results showed that the ethyl acetate fraction of A. tabularis possesses potent DPPH radical scavenging activity (2.90±0.08㎍/㎖), similar to the scavenging activity of ascorbic acid (2.19±0.06㎍/㎖), and better than the powerful antioxidant α-tocopherol (10.60±0.40㎍/㎖) as well as BHA (butylatedhydroxy anisole)(6.12±0.27㎍/㎖). The ethyl acetate fraction possessed a significantly higher concentration of total phenolic (549.70±2.72㎎GAE/g) and flavonolic content (154.58±1.04㎎QE/g). It was also found that the ethyl acetate fraction exhibited high reducing power and inhibition of ROS (Reactive Oxygen Species) formation. Different fractions of A. tabularis were tested for anti-inflammatory activity using LPS stimulated Raw 264.7 cells. The n-hexane and ethyl acetate fractions exhibited a high inhibitory effect on NO (Nitrite oxide) production (22.43±1.06%, 19.30±0.45%, respectively) at 200㎍/㎖ concentration. The mRNA of IL-1β, iNOS and COX-2 gene expression was decreased by treatment with the ethyl acetate fraction. These results showed that A. tabularis extracts can be used as natural substances to control inflammation. Conclusion : These result showed that A. tabularis extracts can be used in a variety of antioxidant and other functional product research and development processes as valuable natural materials.
