Background : In recent years gonorrhoea has been panendemic and remains one of the most common Sexually Transmitted Diseases in the world, especially in developing countries. Objective & Method : For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of Penicillinase Producing Neisseria Gonorrhoeae(PPNG), Ive have been trying to study the patients who have visited the VD Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by means of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. Results : In 1994, 168 strains of N. gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 109 (64,9% ) were PPNG. Conclustion : Our results suggests that the prevalence of PPNG in Seoul is still increasing.

자아존중감이 홀로된 노인의 이성교제에 미치는 영향

본 연구는 자아존중감이 홀로된 노인들의 이성교제에 영향을 미치는 주요변인들을 규명하기 위해 인구사회학적 특성과 자아존중감과 이성교제의 관계를 살펴보는 것이다. 이를 위해 부산시에 있는 복지관, 경로당 등을 이용하는 만 65세 이상 노인 200명을 대상으로 상관분석과 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 홀로된 노인들의 자아존중감은 평균으로 보통 이상의 수준이고 자아존중감이 이성교제에 미치는 정도를 예측하는 중요한 요인은 교육수준, 건강상태이며 자아존중감의 하위요인에서는 자기존중, 지도력과 인기로 나타나 이성교제 영향요인임을 확인하였다. 향후 노인의 이성교제 관련 요인들을 연구하고 지역 사회 차원에서 이성교제를 향상 시킬 수 있는 대책이나 프로그램 개발이 요청된다. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between demographic and sociological characteristics and Self-esteem and heterosexuality in order to identify the major variables that influence the heterosexuality of the elderly who are single. For this purpose, a correlation analysis and Multiple regression analysis were conducted on 200 senior citizens aged 65 or older who used welfare centers and senior citizen centers in Busan. The self-respect of the elderly alone is above average, and the important factors predicting the degree of self-respect to heterosexuality are education level, health condition, and the sub-factors of Self-esteem showed self-respect, leadership and popularity, confirming that heterosexuality is an influence factor. In the future, measures or programs to study factors related to dating among senior citizens and improve dating at the community level will be requested.

A sub-1-volt nanoelectromechanical switching device.

<P>Nanoelectromechanical (NEM) switches have received widespread attention as promising candidates in the drive to surmount the physical limitations currently faced by complementary metal oxide semiconductor technology. The NEM switch has demonstrated superior characteristics including quasi-zero leakage behaviour, excellent density capability and operation in harsh environments. However, an unacceptably high operating voltage (4-20 V) has posed a major obstacle in the practical use of the NEM switch in low-power integrated circuits. To utilize the NEM switch widely as a core device component in ultralow power applications, the operation voltage needs to be reduced to 1 V or below. However, sub-1 V actuation has not yet been demonstrated because of fabrication difficulties and irreversible switching failure caused by surface adhesion. Here, we report the sub-1 V operation of a NEM switch through the introduction of a novel pipe clip device structure and an effective air gap fabrication technique. This achievement is primarily attributed to the incorporation of a 4-nm-thick air gap, which is the smallest reported so far for a NEM switch generated using a 'top-down' approach. Our structure and process can potentially be utilized in various nanogap-related applications, including NEM switch-based ultralow-power integrated circuits, NEM resonators, nanogap electrodes for scientific research and sensors.</P>

열화상카메라를 이용한 블랙아이스 특성 연구

In this study, a study was conducted to develop a system for predicting/responding to black ice occurring on roads in winter. Tests conditions were studied by making models of cement concrete pavement and asphalt concrete pavement. In order to freeze water on the manufactured model package, an tests was conducted at a temperature below zero using a freezer, and the freezing process was photographed using a thermal imaging camera. Black ice is generated when water is present on the road surface and the temperature is below freezing or the road surface temperature is below the dew point temperature. Under sub-zero conditions, the pavement, water, and ice were classified with a thermal imaging camera. As a result of the tests, it was possible to distinguish with a thermal imaging camera at a temperature below freezing in the same freezer due to the difference in the emissivity of the packaging, water, and ice. In the process of changing from water to ice during the tests, it was analyzed that ice and water were clearly distinguished by the thermal imaging camera due to the difference in emissivity and reflectance, so black ice could be predicted using the thermal imaging camera.

High-throughput screening of protein variations in soybean seeds.

The protein in soybean seeds accounts for approximately 40% of the dry seed weight. Two major storage proteins, 7S and 11S, constitute 70-80% of the total storage proteins in the seeds. In this study, the variation of total soluble protein extracts from 1152 soybean landraces that have been collected from South Korea were studied using high-throughput screening method with HT Protein Express Labchip (Caliper Life Sciences, Inc.). Seven distinct protein band patterns - four protein sub-units of 11S and three sub-units of 7S, were taken into account and their presence or absence were analyzed. Among the 1152 landraces, 525 genotypes were identified as lacking lipoxygenase, 255 lacking α1 subunit, 680 lacking α subunit, 169 lacking β subunit, 140 lacking acidic, 114 lacking Kunitz Trypsin Inhibitor (KTi) and 199 lacking basic protein patterns. The high-throughput protein analysis is helpful in screening a large number of populations with less time and minimum labor. The selected genotypes with low amounts or lacking of anti-nutritional factors such as trypsin inhibitor, lipoxygenase and α subunit would be used for future breeding purpose of quality improvement in soybean protein.

중년여성들의 댄스스포츠에 대한 인식 조사 연구

The purpose of this study was to provide basic materials available to establish the recognition of dance sport on status of dance sport as sport for all. For this purpose, this study used th questionnaire research so as to investigate how middle-aged were conscious of dance sport and the level of their participation in dance sport. In conducting the questionnaire research, questionnaires were distributed to 456 middle-aged in Seoul and Kyonggi Province. Based on the study results, the following conclusion was drawn: First, Cognition of the dance sport of those middle-aged women who are currently receiving dance sport training represents for the most part a high response. When viewed from varied social aspects, magazines or books of dance sport are deemed to be short of, and insead cultivation of specialists related to it is considered a prerequisite. And the notion that general cognition of dance sport came enhanced today than in the past might be ascribed to the fact that dance sport was recently taken as an exhibition came at the Sydney Olympics. Second, cognition of the effects and values of dance sport of those middle-aged women who take part in dance sport reflects a positive response on the whole. Their perception indicates that dance sport is conducive to the maintenance and promotion of health. Furthermore, they think that dance sport contributes to the development of culture and simultaneously is of much help to relieving stress, along with the notion taht it is one of the most necessary leisure activities in contemporary society. Third, as a result of having analysed participation into and preference for dance sport of those middle-aged women who take part in dance sport, they do not lapse much time for it, and their dance sport techniques are thought not bo be so mood by their own evaluation. This is presumed to be caused by so lisle time spent for it, and their preference covers dance sport of varied genre musics. Fourth, those middle-aged women who take part in dance sport disclose a very mood response on dance sport socialists.

해산어와 담수어 신장의 미세구조 비교

This study was carried out to examine the ultrastructural differences of the kidneys of a marine fish and a freshwater fish by light and electron microscopes. In the case of Carassius carassius, the kidney is characterized by numerous glomeruli. Renal tubule cells are columnar type and their organelles are fully differentiated. In the case of Ditrema temmincki glomeruli and Bowman's capsules are separated each other in the distribution. Renal tubule cells bear short or long microvilli toward the lumen. Invaginations of the cytoplasm at the tubular base are seen and mitochondria are well developed in terms of cristae. There are congested blood cells, particularly nucleated red blood cells, in the kidney of Sebastes inermis, so it is suggested that the organ is related with the hematopoietic function. In conclusion, ultrastructures of the kidneys have been adapted for the marine or freshwater environments.

개불(Ureshis unicinctus) 受精卵의 卵割類型과 形態形成에 關한 硏究

The present study was carried out to examine the early embryogenesis of Urechis unicinctus in terms of its cleavage pattern and morphogenesis. The first sign of fertilization was the appearance of fertilization membrane, which was 20㎛ in maximum thickness. The cleavage pattern was equal holoblastic in early stage and partial unequal cleavage in later stage. There appeared the cavity in blastula, and then cilia which were derived from the peripheral blastomeres, activated the motility of the larva. Ultrastructures of cleaving zygote included microvilli on free cell surface, numerous nuclear pores of nucleus, well developed rough endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi complex and mitochondria in the cytoplasm. In addition, yolk granules and vesicles were also distributed in the cytoplasm. Cytokinesis was followed by the karyokinesis, through the formation of the cleavage furrow. Morphogenesis of Urechis unicinctus is summarized by the serial equal holoblastic cleavages, the cell movements, and the formations of a blastocoel and cilia.

少腹逐瘀湯의 效能에 關한 實驗的 硏究

This experiment was performed on analgesic, anti-pyretic, sedative, anti-swelling, anti-thrombotic, anti-tumor effect and response of isolated uterus by administrating high and low concentration of Sopokchukeotang's hot-water-extract to experimental animals. This administration purpose to investigate the efficacy of the Sopokchukeotang which is known as having effects on treating female genital diseases on basis of oriental medicine literature and its clinical use. The results obtained were as follows: 1. The writhing syndrome induced by acetic acid was decreased by administration of the Sopokchukeotang's hot-water-extract. However, there was no statistical significance between sample and control group. 2. The administration of the Sopokchukeotang's hot-water-extract elevated the pain threshold significantly by on hindpaw edema induced by 1% carrageenin in rat. 3. Abnormally elevated body temperature induced by thyphoid vaccine was decreased by the administration of the Sopokchukeotang's hot-water-extract. But, there was no statistical significance. 4. Sleeping time induced by Pentobarbital-sodium was prolonged by the administration of the Sopokchukeotang's hot-water-extract. However significant effect was recognized only in the treated by low concentration group(p<0.05). 5. The significant decrease of swelling induced by carrageenin was noted in the group treated by high concentration(p<0.05, p<0.01). 6. The group treated by low concentration showed significant anti-swelling effect on the swellings induced by yeast, but not in the group treated by high concentration didn't show it(p<0.05). 7. The serum FDP was decreased significantly by administrating the Sopokchukeotang's hot-water-extract to the experimental thrombosis(p<0.05, p<0.01). 8. The serum fibrinogen was increased significant by the administration of the Sopokchukeotang's hot-water-extract on the experimental thrombosis(p<0.01, p<0.001). 9. The prothrombin time was not influenced by the adminstration of the Sopokchukeotang's hot-water-extract on the experimental thrombosis. 10. The administration of the Sopokchukeotang's hot-water-extract did riot make a prolongation the survival in Saroma 180 ascitic tumor implanted Rats. 11. The administration of the Sopokchukeotang's hot-water-extract had no effect on the normal movement of the isolated uterus. However, it showed the relaxation effect on the oxytocin induced muscle contraction of the isolated uterus. According to the above results, it might be recognized that the Sopokchukeotang's hot-water-extract has the effect of analgesia, anti-pyrexia, sedation, anti-swelling, anti-thrombosis and relaxation effect on the oxytocin induced contraction of uterus muscle. However, anti-tumor effect of Sopokchukeotang's hot-water-extract was not appeared in the experiments. According to the above results. Sopokchukeotang's not-water-extract can be applied on the various inflammatory diseases in female genital organs.

알코올 사용과 스트레스와의 관련성

Objectives : This study was designed to assess the relationship between alcohol use and stress. Methods : The study subjects were 1,261 people who drink among the 2,565 people who lived in Gangneung. We investigated the sociodemographic characteristics, Short Form-12 (SF-12), Global Assessment of Recent Stress (GARS) and Alcohol Use Disorder Identification Test (AUDIT). Results : In Problem drinking group the GARS was significantly positively associated with the AUDIT (p=0.02). In Social drinking group sex (p<0.001) and age (p=0.02) is significantly associated with the AUDIT. Conclusion : This study showed the significantly positively association between stress and alcohol use. We think that the intervention and active management of the stress can prevent the alcohol problem.
