        Today, automobile world market is highly competitive. In order to strengthen the competitiveness, quality of automobile is recognized as important and efforts are being made to improve the quality of manufactured components. The directional ability of automobile has influence on driver directly and hence it must be solved on the preferential basis. In the present research, an automated vision system has been developed th inspect the front chassis module. To interpret the inspection data obtained for front chassis module, new interpreting algorithm have been developed. Previously the control of tolerance of front chassis module was done manually. With the help of the new algorithm developed, the dimension is calculated automatically to check whether the front chassis module is within the tolerance limit or not.

        Effects of porcine testis extract on wound healing in rat

        Sex hormones have long been considered to play an important role in bone turnover rate, periodontal diseases, and wound healing. We have studied the effect of porcine testis steroid extract (PTSE), an extract of porcine testes, which holds a good ratio of 19-nortestosterone (nandrolone), testosterone, androstenedione, 17b-estradiol, and estrone, on the healing rate of a standardized full-thickness linear wound on the back of the rat. Skin punch or carbon dioxide (CO2) laser methods were used to create the deep skin injury in two groups of animals. The animals were treated with the PTSE cream, control cream and Vaseline (control) to find out the effect in re-epithelialization, contraction, and formation of granulation and scar tissues. Histological examination after 21 days showed 100, 87.4, and 80.5%recovery of epidermis, dermis, and hypodermis, respectively in the PTSE-treated animals. Similarly, on the 15th day of treatment, complete healing of intact skin was observed in the PTSE cream-treated animals among the laser radiation group. Even though the beginning of re-epithelialization phase and completion of serum crust formation was also observed in the base cream- and Vaseline-treated animals respectively, the complete healing cycle was observed only in the PTSE-treated group. The white blood cell count in the PTSE-treated group showed that PTSE cream is nontoxic to animals.

        Analysis of Squareness Measurement using a Laser Interferometer System

        Squareness measurements of the driving axes of a machine tool are very important in order to evaluate the performance of the machine. A laser interferometer measurement is one of the most reliable ways to measure squareness. However, a squareness measurement using a laser interferometer system with an optical square causes restrictions in the straightness interferometer setup,which results in the occurrence of Abbe’s offset. The Abbe’s offset combined with angular errors during the motion of an axis causes Abbe’s error. In addition, difficulty in the optical square setup causes restrictions on other optics and limitations of the measurable range. We present mathematical approaches that can be used to eliminate Abbe’s error and to estimate squareness over the full range by using the best fit of straightness data measured without an optical square. Experiments for squareness measurements of a threeaxis machine tool are conducted. The proposed techniques are used for squareness evaluation with the elimination of Abbe’s error and also for squareness estimation for the full travel range.

        돼지 고기의 아나볼릭 스테로이드가 Myogenic Satellite Cell의 증식과 분화에 미치는 영향

        성호르몬은 근육의 발달(아나볼릭 효과)에 관여하는 것으로 잘 알려져 왔으며 인체의 치료제로 넓게 사용되고 있다. 돼지고기에는 주로 성선(정소와 난소)에서 생산되어 고기에 축적된 다양한 아나볼릭 효과를 나타내는 성호르몬이 많이 존재하는 것으로 알려져 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 돼지고기에 존재하는 아나볼릭 스테로이드를 추출하여 근육세포의 증식과 분화에 미치는 영향을 파악하고자 실시하였다. 본 연구에서 돼지의 각 조직으로부터 아나볼릭 스테로이드를 추출하는 3가지 방법(M1, M2, M3)을 개발하였다. 3가지 모든 추출방법에서 아나볼릭 스테로이드가 추출되었으며 특히 M3에서 조직 1g당 가장 많은 양을 획득할 수 있었다. M3를 이용하여 아나볼릭 스테로이드를 추출했을 때 돼지고기의 근육과 지방에서는 스테로이드 호르몬 양이 수컷에서 가장 높았고, 혈청에서는 nandrolone 과 testosterone의 양은 수컷에서 가장 높았으며, estrone와 $17{\beta}$-estradiol의 양은 비슷하였다. 근육세포 증식은 돼지 아나볼릭 스테로이드의 농도 의존적으로 촉진되었으며, M3에서 가장 빠르게 증식되었다. 근육세포의 분화는 추출된 아나볼릭 스테로이드 처리구가 대조구보다 더 효과적으로 분화가 잘 되는 것을 세포 모양과 유전자(AR, myoD, desmin, myogenin)를 통하여 확인할 수 있었다. 특히 M3에서 추출된 아나볼릭 스테로이드에서 myogenin과 AR 유전자가 유의적으로 높게 발현되었다(p<0.001). 전체적으로 돼지의 아나볼릭 스테로이드는 근육세포의 성장과 분화를 촉진하였다. 따라서 돼지고기에 있는 아나볼릭 스테로이드의 섭취를 통해 인체 근육의 성장과 발달에 긍정적 효과를 나타낼 수 있을 것으로 사료된다. Sex steroids are known to be involved in skeletal muscle development (anabolic effect) and are frequently used in medicines. It has been known that pork contains a variety of steroids that are mainly synthesized in the gonads (testis and ovary). Thus, the present study was conducted to evaluate the effects of anabolic steroids of pork on the proliferation and differentiation of myogenic satellite cells (MSC). Three different methods (M1, M2, and M3) were developed for the isolation and purification of steroids from porcine tissues. Among three extraction methods that we developed, M3 was the best method with respect to the quantities of steroids and the induction of MSC proliferation. Hormonal analysis showed that the steroid hormone levels were the highest in muscle and fat of intact male than those of castrated males and females. In addition, the highest serum levels of nandrolone and testosterone were detected in intact males, whereas estrone and $17{\beta}$-estradiol levels were similar in the entire experimental serum samples. Expression of androgen receptor (AR), myoD, desmin, and myogenin in bovine muscle cells were significantly up-regulated by the treatment of steroid extracts. The highest increas of myogenin and AR mRNA abundance were observed in the MSCs treated with M3 extract (p<0.001). Altogether, the present research showed the positive effect of steroids on MSC proliferation and differentiation in vitro. These results would certainly imply a beneficial effect of pork consumption on human muscle development.

        Identification and Measurement of Geometric Errors for a Five-axis Machine Tool with a Tilting Head using a Double Ball-bar

        Geometric errors are one of the primary potential sources of error in a five-axis machine tool. There are two types of geometric errors: position-dependent geometric errors and position-independent geometric errors. A method is proposed to identify and measure the position-independent geometric errors of a five-axis machine tool with a tilting head by means of simultaneous multi-axis controlled movements using a double-ball bar (DBB). Techniques for identifying positionindependent geometric errors have been proposed by other researchers. However, most of these are based on the assumption that position-dependent geometric errors (such as linear displacement, straightness, and angular errors) are eliminated by compensation, once the position-independent geometric errors have been identified. The approach suggested in this paper takes into account the effect of position-dependent geometric errors. The position-dependent geometric errors are first defined. Path generation for circle tests with two or three simultaneous control movements is then carried out to measure the position-independent geometric errors. Finally, simulations and experiments are conducted to confirm the validity of the proposed method. The simulation results show that the proposed method is sufficient to accurately identify position-independent geometric errors. The experimental results indicate that the technique can be used to identify the position-independent errors of a five-axis machine tool with a tilting head.

        Interleukin-2가 소 미성숙난포란의 핵성숙에 미치는 효과

        In the present study, effects of interleukin-2 (IL-2), a differentiator and proliferator of T-cells, on nuclear maturation and sperm penetration of bovine oocytes was examined in a serum-free or serum-containing medium. Basic medium was used TCM-199 supplemented with 2.2g / ι sodium bicarbonate, 100 i.u. /rnl penicillin. 100g /ml streptomycin, 0.25g/ml Fungizone, this medium treated with FCS and IL-2. In experiment 1, we examined the effect of the addition of 0, 1, 5, 10 or 15nM /ml IL-2 to tissue culture medium (TCM-199) on nuclear maturation of oocytes Development of oocytes to the Metaphase II (M II) stage (%) was significantly (P<0.05) higher at 1, 5,10 and 15 nM /ml IL-2(54.2, 73.5, 80.0 and 69.6%, respectively) than at 0 nM /ml IL-2(35.7%). In experiment 2, we examined the effect of the addition of l0nM /ml IL-2 or 5% FCS in oocyte maturation. Nuclear maturation rates were significantly(P<0.05) higher l0nM /ml IL-2(80%) than non-treatment(35.7%) and 5% FCS(63.6%) treatment. On the other hand, there were no significant difference in the proportion of oocytes developed to the 2-cell stage after addition of IL-2 and/or FCS. These results suggest that IL-2 supports nuclear maturation of bovine immature oocytes in vitro. Serum-free maturation system using IL-2 might be useful for evaluation of various factors on oocyte maturation.
