Cement-Based Fracture Grouting Phenomenon of Weathered Granite Soil

The injection process of fracture grouting and/or fracture-permeation grouting is studied in this paper and analytical solutions are proposed to determine the fracture initiation pressure, the fracture length and thickness, and the pressure-induced filtration phenomenon for weathered granite soil, which is the most abundant soil type on the Korean peninsula. A theory is proposed and then verified through laboratory chamber tests. Experimental results show that fracture grouting occurs in unsaturated weathered granite soil, while fracture-permeation grouting occurs in saturated weathered granite soil. Also, through the experimental results with unsaturated weathered granite soil, it was found that the filtration phenomenon occurs when the water-cement ratio of the grout is less than 1.25. We were also able to demonstrate that the fracture initiation pressure as well as the fracture length and thickness obtained from the experiments match reasonably well with the theoretical values obtained from the analytical solutions.
Panel Data Analysis of Lifestyle Factors, Metabolic Syndrome Risk, and Dementia in Aging Koreans

This study explored the link between metabolic syndrome risk factors and dementia in Korea using national aging panel data from the 8th Korean Longitude Study of Ageing. With a sample of 341 individuals, a structural equation model assessed the relationship between BMI, health behavior, subjective health status, high blood pressure, diabetes, and dementia levels. Significant associations were found between physical measurements, health behavior, subjective health status, high blood pressure, diabetes, and dementia levels, with high blood pressure and diabetes acting as mediators. Managing these conditions through lifestyle improvements and treatment is crucial for reducing dementia risk. The study's use of representative data enhances generalizability, but limitations include missing variables and observational constraints, emphasizing the need for future research integrating multiple data sources for a comprehensive understanding of the metabolic syndrome-dementia relationship.
광역동 치료가 Streptococcus Mutans Biofilm에 미치는 효과에 관한 메타분석

본 연구의 목적은 메타분석(meta analysis)을 통해 광역동 치료가 뮤탄스 연쇄상구균(Streptococcus mutans)에 미치는 효과 차이를 살펴보기 위함이다. 이를 통해, 광역동 치료에서 광감각제를 선택할 때 기준이 될 수 있는 정보를 제공하고자 하였다. 본 연구 방법은 R software 4.1 version의 “netmeta” 패키지를 활용하여 메타분석을 시행하였다. 본 연구의 주요 연구 결과는 커큐민(Curcumin), 메틸렌 블루(Methylene blue), 톨루이딘 블루 오르토(Toluidine blue ortho), 인도시아닌 그린(Indocyanine green), 에리트로신(Erythrosine) 순으로 뮤탄스 연쇄상구균에 대한 사멸 효과가 다름을 파악할 수 있었다. 이를 통해, 본 연구는 광역동 치료가 뮤탄스 연쇄상구균에 미치는 효과에 대하여 안정적이고, 신뢰성 있는 결과를 제시함으로써, 추후 다양한 광감각제에 따른 광역동 치료 개발에 유용한 기준과 방향을 제시하였다.
Effect of Coloring Agent on the Strength and Transmittance of Dental Zirconia Block

Objective: The purpose of this study is to compare and evaluate the fracture resistance and transmittance of several types of zirconia for CAD/CAM. Four types of zirconia blocks including specimens with coloring agents were used for this study. Methods: Forty specimens were prepared in total, 5 pieces each. The biaxial flexural bending strength and transmittance measurement using D65 light source were compared to investigate its characteristics, and XRD and SEM images of each specimen were used to observe the phase change and microstructure. ISO 6872 is the current standard used for evaluating the physical and mechanical properties of zirconia dental materials is. In the biaxial flexural strength test, the block specimen diameter was 20 mm and the specimen thickness was measured with a precision of 1 mm. Results: The transmittance of the prepared specimens was lowered by an average of 10% after applying the coloring agent, but not by block. In this axial flexural strength test, the increase of 80 to 100 MPa was observed in the other zirconia blocks excluding the Trans Blocks. Conclusion: There was no statistically significant difference between the materials. It was found to be statistically significant only in High Shine Blocks.
