        p41-Arc, a regulatory subunit of Arp2/3 complex, can induce premature senescence in the absence of p53 and Rb

        Cellular senescence is a tumor-suppressive process instigated by proliferation in the absence of telomere replication, by cellular stresses such as oncogene activation,or by activation of the tumor suppressor proteins,such as Rb or p53. This process is characterized by an irreversible cell cycle exit, a unique morphology,and expression of senescence-associated-β-galactosidase (SA-β-gal). Despite the potential biological importance of cellular senescence, little is known of the mechanisms leading to the senescent phenotype. p41-Arc has been known to be a putative regulatory component of the mammalian Arp2/3 complex, which is required for the formation of branched networks of actin filaments at the cell cortex. In this study, we demonstrate that p41-Arc can induce senescent phenotypes when it is overexpressed in human tumor cell line, SaOs-2, which is deficient in p53 and Rb tumor suppressor genes, implying that p41 can induce senescence in a p53-independent way. p41-Arc overexpression causes a change in actin filaments, accumulating actin filaments in nuclei. Therefore, these results imply that a change in actin filament can trigger an intrinsic senescence program in the absence of p53and Rb tumor suppressor genes.

        The purpose of this study was to find out a direction of leisure education by analyzing on the research trends of 'cyber leisure of youth'. For achieving this purpose, analyses were made to find out three sub-factors in specific. First, to make a definition of cyber leisure, previous studies regarding the youth's internet using patterns were reviewed. Second, the study was proceeded with focusing on actual conditions of youth's cyber leisure activities. Third, any influences of cyber activities to the juvenile was assessed according to youth's cyber leisure activityparticipation patterns (whether participating or not, type of participation, degree of participation: period, frequency, strength), and the correlations between those were analyzed.

        청소년 비행과 감각추구성, 충동성 간의 관련성: 비행 시발시기를 중심으로

        The main purpose of this study was to find the relationship between the delinquency-onset time in the source and the continuity of delinquency. In order to achieve this objective, we divided 350 first-year high school students into three groups early-onset type, late-onset type, and non-delinquent adolescents on the basis of the delinquency onset. The results of this study were as follow: (1) for the boys, the early-onset type shows a higher continuity of delinquency than both the late-onset type and the general adolescents. On the other hand, for the girls, the early-onset type shows a higher continuity of delinquency than the late-onset type, but there was no difference in the persistence duration between the late-onset type and the non-delinquent adolescents. (2) For the boys, the examination reveals that the early-onset type has a higher degree of sensation seeking and impulsivity than the general adolescents. In addition, the early-onset type shows a higher degree of sensation seeking than the late-onset type, whereas the two show no difference in impulsivity. For the girls, sensation seeking did not show any difference depending on the delinquency onset. However, more impulsivity appeared in the early-onset type than in the late-onset type or the non-delinquent adolescents. (3) The relative priorities of variables determining the group to which the students belong on the basis of the delinquency onset are in the order of sensation seeking and juvenile impulsivity. Therefore, this study, suggests that the early-onset type requires a different kind of intervention than the late-onset type.

        부,모의 심리적 통제 및 과잉기대가 청소년의 공격성에 미치는 영향: 자기애의 매개효과를 중심으로

        The major purpose of this study was to explore mediating effects of narcissism on the relationship between paternal·maternal psychological control, over-expectation, and adolescent aggression. This study`s participants were 678 boys and girls selected from second and third graders at middle schools in Busan. The major findings were as follows. First, there were gender differences in paternal psychological control, fathers` over-expectation, mothers` over-expectation, and adolescents` overt aggression. Second, boys` overt aggression indirectly affected fathers` psychological control and mothers` over-expectation through boys` narcissism. Third, girls` relational aggression indirectly affected fathers` psychological control and mothers` over-expectation through girls` narcissism and directly affected fathers` psychological control. Finally, girls` overt relational aggression indirectly affected fathers` and mothers` over-expectation through girls` narcissism.

        Human Hippo-YAP AXIS 및 CYP450에 미치는 오적산의 영향

        Objectives : This study investigated the protective effect of Ojeok-san (OJS) on cellular damage induced by oxidative stress and whether it induces changes in CYP450 expression. Methods : To investigate the protective effect, we used cells stimulated by oxidative stress caused by the combination treatment of AA+iron. Changes in CYP450 expression were detected by immunoblotting analysis using Huh7 cells. Results : We observed that OJS altered the expression of CYP1A2, CYP3A4, CYP2C19, CYP2D6, and CYP2E1. OJS increased cell viability against AA+iron-induced oxidative stress and inhibited mitochondrial dysfunction. OJS increased phosphorylation of LKB1, phosphorylation of AMPK, and phosphorylation of ACC, which are related to the LKB1-AMPK pathway. In addition, phosphorylation of LATS1 and phosphorylation of YAP, which are related to the Hippo-YAP pathway, were increased. Conclusions : Our results show that OJS has 1) the ability to protect hepatocytes against oxidative stress, and 2) the potential to induce changes in CYP450.

        스마트폰 시청과 알코올 섭취에 따른 눈의 변화와 상관관계

        Purpose: This article tried to find the changes of the eye and a correlation depending on watching a smartphone and taking in alcohol. Methods: This paper conducted the refraction inspection, the radius of corneal curvature,tonometry and the corneal thickness measurement and analysis for 31 persons (18 males and 13 females) who have healthy drinking habit, not having the medical history of taking medicine related with disorders of the eye, a mental disease, systemic disease and alcohol metabolism. Results: Of respirations depending on watching a smartphone, the alcohol concentration was significantly decreased in 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 60minutes and the convalescent stage. (p<0.01, p<0.001) As the result of comparing the refraction inspection after and before watching a smartphone when drinking alcohol, there was a significant difference in the cylindrical power and the axis. (p=0.005, p=0.001) The change of intraocular pressure depending on watching a smartphone after drinking alcohol was decreased significantly from 30 minutes (p<0.001), and watching a smartphone didn’t have any significant effect on the corneal thickness depending on the elapsed time from when drinking alcohol. Conclusions: Watching a smartphone and taking in alcohol had a significant effect on the cylindrical power and the axis. Watching a smartphone and taking in alcohol which may cause the visual function-strain are the factors that need to consider before the refraction inspection. 목적: 스마트폰 시청과 알코올 섭취에 따른 눈의 변화와 상관관계를 알아보고자 하였다. 방법: 안질환, 정신질환, 전신질환 그리고 알코올 대사에 관련된 약물복용의 병력이 없는 평소 건전한 음주습관을 가진 대상자 31명(남 18명, 여13명)을 굴절검사, 각막곡률반경, 안압측정, 각막두께를 측정하고 분석하였다. 결과: 스마트폰 시청에 따른 호흡 중 혈중 알코올의 농도 변화는 15분, 30분, 45분, 60분 그리고 회복기에서 유의하게 감소하였다(p<0.01, p<0.001). 알코올섭취 후 스마트폰 시청 전과 시청 후, 굴절검사 비교 결과 원주굴절력과 축에서 유의한 변화가 있었다(p=0.005,p=0.001). 알코올 섭취 후 스마트폰 시청에 따른 안압의 변화는 30분부터 유의하게 감소하였으며(p<0.001), 알코올을섭취 한 상태에서 경과시간에 따른 스마트폰 시청은 각막두께에 유의한 변화를 주지 않았다. 결론: 스마트폰 시청과알코올 섭취는 원주굴절력과 축 그리고 안압에 유의한 변화를 보인다. 시기능 피로를 초래할 수 있는 스마트폰 시청및 알코올 섭취는 굴절검사 전 반드시 고려해야 할 요인이다.

        웰빙(Well-being)문화의 새로운 방향제시를 위한 탐색적 연구

        Well-being which means seeking out of a better quality of life through physical, mental and??emotional health, now occupies the central place of Korean popular culture, as the majority of people regard it as an ultimate??goal of life. Truth is that, however, Korean well-being culture focuses upon only personal or individual health, putting??emphasis on meditation training and health food. This study is to evaluate about current 'well-being culture' and to seek a new direction of 'well-being??culture' for consumer's welfare, based on awareness about the issue of currently 'well-being' culture in South??Korea. We conducted and analyzed a delphi survey of the experts(the principal investigators) with expertise in these "well- being" culture research areas. The delphi survey method is a structured communication technique, developed as a systematic,??interactive forecasting method which relies on a panel of experts. Especially, to suitable for research purposes, policy??delphi was selected among the delphi methods. The policy delphi have been designed for normative and explorative use,??particularly in the area of social policy and public health. This study can be summarized the opinions of more specific and various experts the present status??of "well-being" culture in South Korea. And ultimately, This study is to suggest practical ways about the consumer's??responsibility, the role of businesses, government policy, and so on. The results of this study can be utilized for developing the government welfare policy. Furthermore,??our analyses can provide a framework for further research about "well-being" culture.

        산화적 스트레스에 대한 석결명의 세포 보호 효과

        Objectives : This study investigated cellular-protective effects of Nardotidis seu Sulculii Concha water extract (NSCE) against oxidative stress induced by arachidonic acid (AA)+iron or tert-butylhydroperoxide (tBHP). Methods : In vitro, MTT assay was assessed for cell viability, and immunoblotting analysis was performed to detect expression of AMP-activated kinase (AMPK) signaling pathway and autophagy related proteins. In vivo, mice were orally administrated with the aqueous extract of NSCE of 500 mg/kg for 3 days, and then injected with CCl<sub>4</sub> 0.5 mg/kg body weight to induce acute damage. The level of liver damage was measured by serum aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) analysis. Results : Treatment with NSCE inhibited cell death induced by AA+iron and tBHP. NSCE induced the phosphorylation of AMPK, and this compound also induced the phosphorylation of LKB1, an upstream kinase of AMPK, and Acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC), a primary downstream target of AMPK. NSCE increased the protein levels of autophagic markers (LC3II and beclin-1) and decreased the phosphorylation of mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) and simultaneously increased the phosphorylation of unc-51-like kinase-1 (ULK-1) in time-dependent manner. Conclusions : NSCE has the ability 1) to protect cells against oxidative stress induced by AA+iron or tBHP. NSCE 2) to activate AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), and 3) to regulate autophagy, an important regulator in cell survival.
