      • COVID-19 감염위험률 산출에서 환기량 기반 방법과 CO₂ 농도 기반 방법의 비교

        The probability of COVID-19 infection risk can be evaluated by using Wells-Riley equation. However, it is difficult to use this equation for the purpose of controlling the infection rate in a real space because the indoor ventilation volume needs to be measured in real time. The modified infection rate prediction equation can calculate the infection rate using the CO2-based instead of the ventilation rate. The aim of this study is to compare indoor airborne infection transmission risk between ventilation rate-based and CO₂ concentration-based in calculation. The analyzed spaces were classrooms at university whereby face-to-face classes were conducted. The real-time occupancy in each classroom was recorded by the video camera. The ventilation rate of the classroom was calculated by mass equilibrium equation. The results showed that probability of infection risk calculated by using ventilation rate measurement method was 1.5 times higher than the probability of infection risk calculated by using CO₂ concentration measurement.

        The Value of Explicit Morphological Instruction over Traditional Paper-based Morphological Instruction

        Students who can analyze word parts, called morphemes, and their study, morphology in order to build larger vocabularies do better at reading comprehension. Recent research has suggested that children can be taught explicit morphological strategies and that these strategies hold true for ESL learners. This present study attempts to fill the gap in the research pertaining to EFL settings, and especially the question of whether in a Korean setting, Explicit Morphological instruction (EMI) is a more effective alternative to the traditional paper-based morphological instruction (PMI) found in Korean classrooms. Two groups were given a 12-week treatment of either EMI (n=40) or PMI (n=40) and compared to a control group. Quantitative analysis suggests that the treatments had a significant impact on the learners’ ability to decipher vocabulary, increase reading fluency and comprehension, and also perform better in general English tasks involving grammar, speaking and listening. It was also found that learners receiving EMI were more motivated in their attitudes towards class and reading English.

        Look it up: Phrasal Verbs in The Simpsons

        This study attempts to investigate whether learners can better memorize the meaning of phrasal verbs via animated video clips than through traditional paper-based instruction. Second language learners experience particular trouble with the idiomatic nature of phrasal verbs. The sheer volume and variety confuse and confound learners used to using prior knowledge and contextual clues to negotiate meaning. Research has shown that phrasal verbs are more difficult to memorize than other types of vocabulary. Using video clips of characters using phrasal verbs in context could help EFL learners to recall and produce phrasal verbs. A class of upper-intermediate-level adult English learners was shown video clips from the animated TV show The Simpsons to find out whether it would have any effect on their ability to memorize and reproduce phrasal verbs. Through quantitative analysis, it was found that learners introduced to the phrasal verbs through the video clips showed greater recall than those who studied via traditional methods only. The significance of the results of this pilot study suggests that a larger study with more participants would be beneficial in determining whether teachers should include video clips in their curricula as part of vocabulary lessons.

This event was organized by the Canadian Embassy in Seoul and the canadian Consulate in Pusan to recognize the increasingly important partnership between Pusan, Korea's second largest city with enormous economic and cultural potential, and Canada.

        Holocene sea-level history and tectonic implications derived from luminescence dating of raised beaches in Terra Nova Bay, Antarctica

        Raised beaches are amongst the most important and direct indicators of relative sea-level change and timing of deglaciation in Antarctica. Infrared stimulated luminescence dating of cobble surfaces on two sets of raised beaches in Terra Nova Bay in Victoria Land of Antarctica records relative sea-level change since the Mid-Holocene. This study includes dating on five raised beaches on Inexpressible Island (II-1 to II-5) and five raised beaches at Jang Bogo Station (JS-1 to JS-5). The raised beaches at Jang Bogo Station began to form before 6.0 ± 0.8 ka, emerging at an average rate of 0.9 m/ka. The rate of emergence on Inexpressible Island was 1.6+0.2/–0.1 m/ka from 4.8 ± 0.5 to 1.1 ± 0.1 ka, since when the rate has been 14.9+1.8/–1.0 m/ka. The proximity of the two study sites suggests that glacier melting, and associated glacio-isostatic rebound alone cannot explain the difference between the rates of emergence at the two sets of raised beaches. This spatio-temporal difference in the emergence rates is likely the result of both local tectonics and glacio-isostatic rebound. This view is consistent with recent GPS geodetic analyses, albeit the geologic and geodetic data are on different temporal scales. Moreover, the rapid uplift since 1.1 ka on Inexpressible Island is likely due to vertical movement associated with active faulting.

        중국 식음료 광고가 어린이에게 미치는 영향 및 규제 방향성 제언 -소셜 미디어, 애드버게임 사례를 중심으로

        본 연구는 중국의 식음료 광고가 급증하는 아동 비만에 미치는 영향에 대한 학부모들의 우려를 포커스 그룹 인터뷰를 통해 분석했고(N=10), 이를 통해 관련법과 정책의 한계점을 고찰했다. 연구 결과 현재 중국에서 시행 중인법과 정책으로는 학부모들의 우려를 불식시키기 어려웠다. 은밀하고 간접적으로 구매를 유도하는 소셜 미디어 PPL 혹은 애드버게임과 같은 뉴미디어를 활용한 식음료 광고의 급증으로 어린이들 대상 광고의 영향력이 더 두드러질 것이다. 따라서 본 연구는 뉴미디어 식음료 광고에 대한 정책 개선의 필요성을 제시한다. 뉴미디어를 활용한 식음료 광고에 관한 개선점과 향후 정책 제안을 위해 20여 개국의 어린이 대상 광고 정책을 비교 분석하였다. 분석 결과 영국, 캐나다 퀘벡, 칠레의 SNS와 애드버게임 식음료 광고 정책은 비교적 포괄적이고 한국의 경우 정책상 뉴미디어 식음료 광고를 비교적 전면적으로 규제할 수 있지만, 애드버게임이나 게임 콜라보레이션을 활용한 식음료광고는 구체적인 계획이 부재하며, 키즈 인플루언서를 활용한 식음료 광고에 대한 정책도 미흡한 시점이다. 이를 바탕으로 본 연구는 중국 어린이 보호를 위한 광고 정책을 제안했다. 본 연구는 a) 어린이 비만을 초래할 수 있는 고지방, 고당, 고염분 식음료 제품의 구분기준의 세분화, b) 어린이를 대상으로 하는 식음료 광고에 대한 관리 감독 강화, c) 식음료 시장의 자율규제 필요성, d) 광고 인식 교육 강화를 통해 건강한 미디어 환경을 조성해야 함을 제안했다. 본 연구는 코로나19 이후 급증하는 아동 비만의 현황에서 관련 정책 수립을 위한 시사점을 제공한다. This study analyzed parents' concerns about the effect of food and beverage advertisements on the rapidly increasing childhood obesity through a focus group interview(N=10) in China, exploring the limitations of current laws and regulations. As a result of the study, it was difficult to dispel parents' concerns with the laws and policies currently in effect in China. The influence of advertisements targeting children will be more pronounced due to the surge in food and beverage advertisements using new media such as social media PPL or advergames that induce purchases secretly and indirectly. Therefore, this study suggests the need for policy improvement for new media food and beverage advertisements. For improvements in food and beverage advertising using new media and future policy proposals, advertising policies for food and beverage advertising to children in more than 20 countries were compared and analyzed. According to the analysis, the UK, Canada Quebec, and Chile have relatively comprehensive policies on food and beverage advertising using SNS and advergame. The regulation in Korea is relatively complete, but there are no specific plans for food and beverage advertising through kid influencers, game collaborations and advergames. Therefore policy recommendations regarding new media food and beverage advertising in China were proposed: a) subdividing HFSS food and beverage products in new media advertising, b) strengthening the supervision of new media food and beverage advertisements towards children, c) supporting self-regulation in the food and beverage market, d) enhancing advertising awareness education. This study provides implications for establishing related policies in the current state of child obesity, which has increased rapidly since COVID-19.
