Brown tumor is a bone disease that arises in the setting of increased osteoclastic activity and fibroblastic proliferation in the involved bone. It is well recognized as serious complication of hyperparathyroidism. Brown tumor is uncommon, and brown tumor with secondary hyperparathyroidism resulting from chronic renal failure has rarely been reported. We recently experienced a case of a 28-year-old Korean woman with chronic renal failure caused by chronic glomerulonephritis, on hemodialysis for nine years. She has been hospitalized with left shoulder pain for two years. Image studies showed multiple cystic masses, and both suspicious marked thinning and partial destruction of the cortex on the head of the left humerus. Histopathologic analysis of the mass lesion showed a fibrotic capsule, hemosiderin pigmentation, and giant cell, all characteristic of brown tumor. A subtotal parathyroidectomy was done without surgery of the bony lesion (brown tumor), with successful results. We report this case with a brief review of the literature.

Machine learning techniques using visual data have high usability in fields of industry and service such as scene recognition, fault detection, security and user analysis. Among these, user analysis through the videos from CCTV is one of the practical way of using vision data. Also, many studies about lightweight artificial neural network have been published to increase high usability for mobile and embedded environment so far. In this study, we propose the network combining the object detection and classification for mobile graphic processing unit. This network detects pedestrian and face, classifies age and gender from detected face. Proposed network is constructed based on MobileNet, YOLOv2 and skip connection. Both detection and classification models are trained individually and combined as 2-stage structure. Also, attention mechanism is used to improve detection and classification ability. Nvidia Jetson Nano is used to run and evaluate the proposed system.

Purpose: To compare postoperative outcomes according to surgical method in partially accommodative esotropia in patients over 4 years of age. Methods: We compared motor and sensory outcomes between conventional and augmented surgery in 66 patients. The postoperative follow-up period was at least 24 months. The formula for the amount of the rectus muscle recession was based on the distant angle deviation after hyperopic correction in the conventional group and the average amounts of the distant angle deviation with and without full correction of hyperopia in the augmented group. In addition, the conventional group was divided into 2 sub-groups to compare surgical outcomes. The A group consisted of patients who underwent surgery with the amount of surgical correction based on distant angle deviation after full hyperopic correction. The B group consisted of patients under the same condition after reduced hyperopic correction to achieve best corrected visual acuity (BCVA). Results: Among the patients who had an ocular alignment less than 10 PD, orthophoria was significantly higher in the conventional group than in the augmented group on the last follow-up. When comparing the 2 conventional sub-groups, the postoperative stereoacuity was better in group B than in group A. Among patients with a postoperative overcorrected alignment of more than 10 PD who underwent augmented surgery, 75% showed decreased postoperative stereoacuity compared to preoperative stereoacuity. Conclusions: In partially accommodative esotropia in patients over 4 years of age, conventional surgery compared to augmented surgery after reduced hyperopic correction is better in order to achieve BCVA for postoperative stereoacuity as well as ocular alignment.
플라즈마 질화처리에 따른 AISI 403 스테인리스강의 고상입자 침식마모거동

Abstract: This study investigated the effects of plasma nitriding on the erosion behavior of AISI 403 stainless steel solid state particles at ambient temperature and 620℃ using Fe3O4 erodent particles at impact angles of 15-90°. The plasma nitriding formed a thick hardened layer which had a high microhardness of 1210 ± 15 Hv. At ambient temperature, AISI 403 suffered from severe erosion damage at low impact angles and exhibited ductile erosive behavior, while the nitrided layer experienced no significant damage at any impact angles. For AISI 403, the erosion rates at 620℃ were ~2 times higher than those obtained at ambient temperature. When eroded at 620℃, the nitrided layer exhibited a ductile erosive manner, with a maximum erosion rate occurring at a low impact angle of 30°. The results from high temperature hardness measurement and the observation of the eroded surface are discussed to explain the high-temperature erosion behavior of the nitrided AISI 403 stainless steel.
