A Case of Withdrawal Psychosis from Internet Addiction Disorder

Similar to substance use disorder, patients with Internet addiction disorder (IAD) show excessive use, tolerance and withdrawal symptoms. We report a case of a patient with withdrawal psychosis who showed persecutory delusion and disorganized behaviors in addition to common withdrawal symptoms such as agitation and irritability. A 25-year-old male developed a full-blown psychotic episode within one day after discontinuing an Internet game that he had been playing for at least eight hours a day for two years. Upon admission, he had no abnormal brain imaging findings and laboratory tests. With antipsychotic medication (quetiapine up to 800 mg), his psychotic symptoms rapidly subsided and after four days of treatment, he no longer showed any signs of psychosis. This case report suggests that brief psychosis can develop during withdrawal from long-term excessive use of an Internet and the central pathology beneath the IAD is more likely a form of addiction than impulse control.

경기도 양평군 일지역의 60세 인구의 생애 스트레스 사건과 우울증 : 사회적 지지가 중재자가 될 수 있는가?

Objective:60-year old Korean population has particular life experiences such as Korean War. With this life experience, we aimed to examine the moderating role of social support on the relationship between adverse life events and depressive symptoms in later life. Methods:The total respondents were 639 people who were 60-year old dwelling in Yangpyung, Gyeonggi Province, South Ko-rea. One to one interviews were conducted by experienced research assistants. Results:Examining depression, 14.7% of total population showed 15 or higher geriatric depression scale-shortform-Korea score. 70% did report stressful life events as many as 13. Also, 31.6% of total participants were isolated or at high risk of isolation. Using hierarchical multiple regression models, the results showed that social support moderated the influence of the exposure to stressful life events on depression (R 2 =0.124, β=-0.118, p<0.01). The moderating effect was greater in male (R 2 =0.118, β=-1.36, p<0.01) than that of female (R 2 = 0.113, β=-0.115, p<0.01), which is apposite to our hypothesis. Conclusion:This finding suggests that social support play critical roles in the stress-outcome relationship among 60-years old population like it was suggested. Since most stressful events are inevitable, it is important to build sufficient social support net-works.

This research observed the relevance between reading and other language skills in Korean language teaching, especially analyze the relevance between post-reading activities and other activities in currently used teaching materials. Analysis result pointed out that post-reading task in currently used teaching material did not show much relevance with other teaching skills. To begin with, the teaching activities in the intermediate teaching materials varied a lot, however, in the beginning level and the advanced level materials there were much fewer. Furthermore, the teaching activities were all of single kind in general. Finally, post-reading activities were mainly related to oral practice. This study found out that Korean language textbooks did not practice language skill integration much although many post-reading activities were developed and skill integration was recommended. It also claimed that in order to achieve a more efficient integrated teaching purpose, various reading practice and relevant activities should be employed in the textbooks.

Substituted imidazolidin-2-ones deduced as potential inhibitors of IleRS by docking simulations were synthesized from aziridine-2-carboxaldehyde. Reductive amination of aziridine-2-carboxaldehyde with dipeptides for the substituents at N1 and followed by aziridine-ring expansion with triphosgene afforded 4-chloromethylimidazolidin-2-one whose chloride were further manipulated towards phenylurea, pyrimidin-2-yl-urea or benzenesulfonamide at C4.

K_(2)SnCl_(6)는 antifluoride계에 속하는 결정으로서 K_(2)SnCl_(6)에 Li^(+)를 첨가하여 ^(7)Li 핵자기공명(NMR)을 측정하여 동형(isomorphic) 혼합결정(K_(1-x)Rb_(x))_(2)SnCl_(6)와 비동형(nonisomorphic) 혼합결정 K_(2)SnCl_(6):Al^(3+)에서의 핵자기공명(NMR), ^(87)Rb NMR과 ^(27)Al NMR의 측정값과 비교하였다. Rb^(+) 이온은 K_(2)SnCl_(6)의 K^(+)이온을 대신해 동형 결정을 이루며, Al^(3+)이온은 Sn^(4+)이온을 대치하면서 비동형 결정을 이루는데 Li^(+)이온 또한 K^(+)이온을 대신하는 동형 혼합결정과 유사한 결과 값을 얻을 수 있었다. 이 연구 결과는 종래의 Cl-NQR 연구 결과와 비교함으로서 K_(2)SnCl_(6)의 동력학적 특성과 구조 상전이 근처에서의 임계현상을 새로운 관점에서 볼 수 있는 가능성을 보여주었다. ^(7)Li, ^(87)Rb and ^(27)Al NMR have been investigated in the isomorphic and nonisomorphic impurity doped crystals (K_(1-x)Li_(x))_(2)SnCl_(6), (K_(1-x)Rb_(x))_(2)SnCl_(6) and K_(2)SnCl_(6):Al^(3+) as a supplementary to the previous Cl NQR studies in these crystals. The results yielded that the features of NMR spectra for both types of crystals are roughly in line with the systematic trends shown in the Cl NQR in these crystals, though the outstanding characteristics exhibited in the Cl NQR become in the case of the NMR of the doped impurities in crystals somewhat weakend. This is due to the degradation of the role of the local field from the main hamiltonian in NQR to the subsidiary in NMR. Each NMR result of the iso/nonisomorphic crystals has been analyzed in terms of the 'impurity induced dynamic lattice defects' for K_(2)SnCl_(6):Al^(3+) and the 'static primary impurity effects' for (K_(1-x)Rb_(x))_(2)SnCl_(6) and (K_(1-x)Li_(x))_(2)SnCl_(6) respectlvely.
