Korea's pet-related society has been fast growing without the base and preparations of socio-cultural animal welfare. For the most part, Korea's current public parks, in particular, have a space structure in which a lot of friction between the general public who are not fond of dogs and dog owners in public places has been happening unavoidably. A lot of countries that are taking a lead role in animal welfare have built dog parte that the general public and dogs can enjoy together. This research starts with the realization that the concept of 'dog park' needs to be introduced in Korea as more and more Koreans own dogs and other pets. This research aims to provide guidance for dog park planning by drawing a dog park planning model and to promote basics for co-existence of dogs and people in a park and set in place animal welfare early and raise the level of awareness. Total 7 types of dog put 56 planning items including dog zone, dog playground, and agility, and a selective matrix by which it is possible to select essential recommendatory optional items by each type of dog park were drawn in this research. Overall there were the highest needs in separated area for dogs in park. A dog park planning model is designed as follows. 1) To select a dog park type that was introduced. 2) To set up facilities applicable in common and planning items desired in advance by each type. 3) To zone dog park areas by the priority order of planning items that were introduced and to position necessary facilities. 4) To plan program that should be were introduced. A dog park was expected to take some positive roles such as providing opportunities to socialize dogs, activating social communities, more effective park management by participating local community members and so on.

시스템의 성능과 안전성을 보장하기 위해서는 개발 초기부터 신뢰도에 대한 연구가 이루어져야 한다. 시스템의 목표 신뢰도를 수립하고, 이를 달성하기 위하여 하부시스템 및 부분품에 신뢰도를 할당해야 한다. 시스템의 획득 및 개발에 있어서 성능이 우수하고 비용이 저렴하더라도 고장이 빈번하게 발생한다면 원활한 임무 수행에 많은 영향을 미치고, 막대한 운영유지비용이 소요될 것이다. 본 연구에서는 신뢰도 할당 모형과 운영 유지비용과의 관계를 알아보기 위하여 기존의 알려진 신뢰도 할당 모형들을 검토 및 평가하였다. 신뢰도 할당모형의 평가는 차기 개발 함정용 디젤 엔진을 대상으로 하였으며, 다양한 신뢰도 할당 모형에 목표 신뢰도를 고려하여 신뢰도를 할당하고, 현재 운영하는 함정용 디젤 엔진의 자료를 바탕으로 시뮬레이션을 수행하여 운영유지비용을 최소화하는 신뢰도 할당 모형을 선정하였다. Reliability should be done from the initial stage of development to secure performance and safety of system. To establish and achieve target reliability of a system, reliability should be allocated into the subsystems. In the acquisition and development of a system, frequent failures will cause a negative effect on performing mission and occurs increasing operating cost. This study reviewed and evaluated the existing reliability allocation models using operation and maintenance costs to find the correlation between reliability allocation models and its operating cost. A target system reliability on the diesel engine to be developed for naval vessels is allocated into its subsystem based on the existing reliability allocation models. A selection methodology for reliability allocation models was made to minimize operating cost by using simulation based on the given operating diesel engine data for naval vessels.

Purpose: We report a case of congenital accessory punctum and canaliculus in a patient with dry eye, which had not previously been reported in Korea. Methods: A 56-year old woman presented with dry eye that was more pronounced in the left eye than in the right. An accessory punctum was found in the left medial canthus. Dacryocystogram showed that the accessory punctum had an independent canaliculus which was connected to a normal upper canaliculus. Results: The symptoms were relieved after permanent punctal occlusion of the lower and accessory puncta. Conclusions: Severe dry eye can be induced by congenital accessory punctum and canaliculus.

Purpose: Pinitol, a natural extract of soybeans, is metabolized to chiroinositol in the body. We evaluated the ability of pinitol to protect diabetic cataracts from oxidative stress in streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic rats. Methods: We used Sprague-Dawley rats (n=80). Diabetes was induced with STZ (60 ㎎/㎏, i.p.). These STZ-injected rats were administered pinitol or chiroinositol, each 20 ㎎/㎖, and given access to regular chow. The efficacies of pinitol and chiroinositol were studied by monitoring a series of lens opacity and corneal lesion by photodocumentation. Aqueous humor and lens samples were collected at the 2nd week, 4th week, and 12th week. We measured glutathione, malondialdehyde (MDA) and used ELISA to evaluate its antioxidant effect. Results: STZ-diabetic rats showed typical Y sutural lens opacity beginning on the 3rd day and progressed diffusely to more cortical opacity from the 1st week. However, in pinitol-treated diabetic rats, these cataractous changes were remarkably decreased. Corneal edema and opacity also remarkably reduced in the pinitol-treated group. Glutathione level marke㎗y increased compared to that of the non-treated diabetic group (230.12±10.96 ㎛ , 156.42±5.09 ㎛, respectively). This resulted in a decrease in peroxidized MDA product in the treated group. Similarly, the anti-cataractogenic and anti-oxidative effects of pinitol were also observed in the chiroinositol-treated group. Conclusions: These results suggest that pinitol could be effective in preventing cataract and cornea edema caused by oxidative stress in a hyperglycemic environment.
