Thermally stable Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal(PDLC) having a low driving voltage(4.8V, high contrast and fast response time(30ms) has developed. The PDLC applied for the 10.4$quot; thin film transister- driving panel for Over Head Projector(OHP). The Brightness of the OHP greatly increased by using the Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal(PDLC) panel instead of a Twisted Nematic(TN) Liquid Crystal panel.
Dry photopolymer 를 이용한 광학용 마이크로렌즈의 제작

Relief optical microlenses were prepared by using photopolymers. The relief structure on the photopolymers was generated under the ultraviolet light(wavelength:3 65nm) exposure. The shapes of the microlenses changed with the exposured light intensity. The shape and height of microlenses can be prepared freely by controlling the exposured time of the light.
실험적 급성 허혈성 뇌부종이 뇌 사립체에 미치는 영향과 이에 대한 Nimodipine의 효과

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the therapeutic potency of the nimodipine in the acute phase of cerebral ischemic stroke. Acute focal cerebral in cats was produced by occlusion of the left middle cerebral artery(MCA) through the transorbital approach. The experimental animals were divided into 4 groups. The occlusion group was that of occlusion of MCA only. The recirculation group was that of 3 hours recirculation after acute ischemia. The treatment group was that of continuous intravenous nimodipine infusion 2 hours prior to and throughout the whole period of MCA occlusion. The combined treatment group was that of 3 hours prior to the throughout the whole period of MCA occlusion and recirculation. The sham control group was the animals with removal of orbital contents with no occlusion of MCA. Cytochrome oxidase activity(COA) and amount of lipid peroxidation(ALP) were determined. The results obtained were as follows ; In the occlusion group, COA was reduced to 71.50% and ALP increased to 126.06% of the sham control value, in the recirculation group COA was reduced to 76.79% and ALP increased to 131.34% of the sham control value. In the treatment and combined treatment groups, COA were increased to 104.60% and 108.05% respectively, and ALP were decreased to 85.94%% and 69.79% of the sham control values respectively. Ultrastructure of mitochondria were studied by electromiroscopy in all 5 experimental groups. The mitochondrial cristae were increased in numbers with preservation of the normal shape of mitochondria which was evident paricularly in the combined treatment groups. The results are to be evaluated that nimodipine has beneficial effect in the management of acute focal ischemia of the cat model.

The phase separated structure and the electro-optical properties of the (polymer/liquid) crystal : LC) composite film strongly depended on the weight fraction of LC in it. The continuous LC phase was formed in a three-dimensional polymer network when the LC weight fraction was above 40wt%. The aggregation structure of the composite film could be controlled by controlling the solvent evaporation velocity during the film preparation process. The smaller LC domains or channels were formed in the case of the faster solvent evaporation velocity. The composite film exhibited reversible light scattering-light transmission switching upon electric field -OFF and -ON states, respectiverly. The light scattering properties of the composite film strongly depended on the spatial distortion of the nematic directors as well as the mismatch in refractive indices between matrix polymer and LC.

The phase separated structure and the electo-optical properties of the polymer / liquid crystal(LC) composite films including a dye were investigated. The phase separated structure of the polymer / LC / dye composite film(GH composite film) including below 2wt% dye against LC was almost same with the composite film which does not include dye. But the electro-optical properties of the GH composite film strongly depended on weight fraction of the dye against the LC. The response time of the GH composite film increased with the increase of the dissolved dye in LC because the dye acts as a registivity for the orientation of LC molecules by the electric filed.
