        Bt 양배추가 복숭아혹진딧물의 발육과 기주선택에 미치는 영향

        해충저항성 유전자변형 작물은 대상 해충에 대한 방제 효과를 증진시킬 수 있는 효과적인 수단이 될 수 있지만, 생태계 내의 다른 비표적 생물에 부정적인 영향을 줄 가능성 또한 있기 때문에 상업적인 재배에 앞서 이에 대한 충분한 연구가 이루어져야 한다. 본 연구에서는 배추좀나방내성 유전자변형 Bt (Cry1Ac1)양배추가 비표적 곤충인 복숭아혹진딧물에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위한 기초적인 실험으로서 기주선택실험 및 성장실험을 실시하였다. 기주선택실험에서, 두 개체씩의 Bt 양배추와 모본 양배추에 각각 10마리의 유시 성충(alate virginoparae)을 접종하고, 사흘간 생식(reproduction) 기회를 제공한 후 생산한 약충의 마리수를 측정한 결과, Bt 양배추와 모본 양배추에 낳은 약충의 수가 각각 $21.9{\pm}1.8$와 $22.5{\pm}2.2$로 비슷하였다. 성장실험에서, 갓 태어난 무시 약충(apterous virginoparae)을 Bt 양배추 및 모본 양배추를 기주로 하여 키웠을 때, 성충이 될 때까지 걸린 시간은 Bt 양배추와 모본 양배추에서 각각 $5.8{\pm}0.2$, $5.9{\pm}0.1$ 일(day)로 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 없었고, 개체군 생장률(rm) 또한 $0.7{\pm}0.1$, $0.8{\pm}0.1$로 유사하였다. 이상의 결과들로 볼때 Bt 양배추가 복숭아혹진딧물에 미치는 영향이 없거나 미미함을 알 수 있으나, 다양한 관점에서의 보완 연구가 더 필요하다. Transgenic crops that produce insecticidal toxins have a great potential for controlling target pest insects, but there is a growing concern about unintended influences on non-target species. In the present study, the preferences and performance of non-target green peach aphid, Myzus persicae (Sulzer), on transgenic cabbages (Brassica oleracea) that produce Bt toxin (Cry1Ac1) and untransformed control plants were investigated as a part of risk assessment. In a free-choice situation, the number of nymphs larviposited by 10 winged adults over 3 days was $21.9{\pm}1.8$ and $22.5{\pm}2.2$ on transgenic and the control plants, respectively, indicating that the aphids did not discriminate between the two types of plants. In a performance assay, the development time (D) and intrinsic rate of increase (rm) of wingless aphids reared on transgenic and control plants were also similar (D, $5.8{\pm}0.2$ and $5.9{\pm}0.1$ (days) and rm, $0.7{\pm}0.1$ and $0.8{\pm}0.1$, for transgenic and control plants, respectively). These results suggest that M. persicae is not significantly affected by transgenic Bt cabbage.

      • The Nature of the Secularization: Focusing on the Relationship between Religion and Science

        막스 베버는 ‘세속화’를 모던 세계 사람들의 삶 속에서 종교의 영향력이 줄어드는 현상으로 정의하고, 과학의 발달이 종교의 영향력 감소를 가져온다고 주장하였다. 이 주장은 한동안 정설처럼 받아들여져 왔다. 그런데, 20세기 후반의 종교 현상을 연구한 학자들의 주장은 이 주장의 정당성에 대하여 다시 생각하게 한다. 이 논문은 이런 최근 학자들의 주장들 중 폴 프로세, 피파 노리스와 롤란드 잉글하트, 찰스 테일러 주장을 탐구하였다. 베버의 주장과 비교하기 위해, 세속화를 종교의 영향력 감소로 정의하는 것이 과연 타당한가, 그리고 과학의 발달은 종교의 감소를 초래하는가, 이 두 질문을 중심으로 위의 학자들의 논의를 정리하였다. 이러한 논의들은 과학의 발달과 이에 따른 문화의 변화 속에서도 인간의 종교에 대한 요구는 꾸준히 지속되고 있다는 점을 보여준다. 그러므로 세속화를 종교의 영향력 감소로만 보는 것은 타당하지 않다. 이러한 연구 결과들에 근거하여 필자는 현대 사회에서 종교는 감소하는 것이 아니라 변화하고 있다고 보아야 한다고 주장한다. 종교적 제도, 그것의 권위와 영향력, 공공 영역에서의 종교 행사 등의 측면에서 종교는 감소하고 있는 것처럼 보인다. 하지만, 여기서 거론된 학자들의 논의에서 본 바와 같이, 개인들의 종교성과 대중들이 느끼는 종교의 필요성은 결코 사라지지 않고 지속적이다. 그러므로, 종교의 세속화에 관한 논의는 종교의 감소가 아니라, 새로운 환경 속에서의 종교의 변화의 가능성을 다루는 것이 되어야 한다. The author explores the recent debate over secularization as a critical discourse on the changes in religion in modern society. More specifically, he explores the assertions of several scholars who have discussed secularization, focusing on the relationship of religion to science. Max Weber, who defined secularization as the decline of the influence of religion in modern life, claimed that in modern society religion would decline due to scientific advancement. The Weberian thesis was accepted as “a common knowledge” among social scientists for several decades. However, based on observations of contemporary religious culture, many scholars have raised questions regarding the legitimacy of this thesis. Scholars have debated the nature of the changes in religion and the reasons for these changes. The author summarizes four scholars’ attempts to revise the Weberian thesis: Paul Froese, Pippa Norris and Ronald Inglehart, and Charles Taylor. The article raises two questions: Is secularization or the change in religion in modernity characterized by a decline in religion? Is the advancement of science the reason for the decline? The author addresses some scholars’ responses to these questions. Taking their claims into account, he argues that religion has been transformed, not diminished, as a result of the advances in science and other influences of modernity. As an institution, as an authority that controls people’s lives, public practices, and social power, religion seems to be declining in the modern era. However, religiosity as an individual religious need is not disappearing but instead persists. Therefore, theories of secularization should incorporate the possibility of the transformation of religion, not merely view religion as in decline.

        플랭크와 브릿지 동작의 근전도 비교 분석

        The purpose of this study was to analysis of electromyogram of Plank and bridge exercise. With these purposes in consideration, a total of 9 male were recruited to participate. The experiment was performed plank and bridge exercise during one minute(with 5 min break-time) while the EMG data was recorded and analyzed. EMG surface electrodes were attached six muscles(Biceps Brichii; BB, Triceps Brichii; TB, Rectus Abdominis; RA, Latissimus Dorsi; LD, Rectus Femoris; RF, Gluteal Muscles; GM). Results show that there were significant differences between plank and bridge exercise. Five of total muscles(BB, TB, RA, LD, RF)were significant higher IEMG levels at the plank exercise than the bridge exercise. However, GM were only high activated at the bridge exercise. It is concluded that the plank is effective exercise for developing muscles.

        2011 대구세계육상선수권대회 남자 멀리뛰기 경기의 운동학적 분석

        The long jump motion of 8 finalist of men`s long jump of IAAF World Championships Daegu 2011 were analysed and the kinematic characteristics of the technique were investigated. The kinematic characteristics of long jump motion of 8 finalist were as follows. In the run-up phase, the average length of 3, 2, and 1 stride were 2.21±0.08 m, 2.46±0.18 m, and 2.19±0.16 m, respectively. The change in the height of the center of gravity was 0.09 ± 0.02 m. The average velocity of 3, 2, and 1 stride was 10.37±0.32 m/s, 9.63±0.32 m/s, and 10.69±10.69 m/s, respectively. In the take-off phase, the horizontal velocity, the vertical velocity, the reduction of horizontal velocity was 9.00±0.37 m/s, 3.04±0.27 m/s, and 1.69±0.34 m/s, respectively. The minimum knee angle and the take off angle was 157±6.57° and 18.5±2.24°, respectively. In the flight phase, the flight time and the maximum height of the center of gravity was 0.82±0.05 s, and 1.70±0.10 m, respectively. In the landing phase, the landing length was 0.51±0.06 m. The body angle, the knee angle, and the hip angle was 71±20.93°, 136±19.19°, and 85±9.58°, respectively. The kinematic characteristics of long jump motion with good record were shown as follows, The reduction of the horizontal velocity in the take-off phase was minimized while the velocity of the run-up were maximally maintained, The vertical velocity in the take-off phase was increased with rapidly extended knee and the high center of gravity.

        미세먼지와 식물의 상호작용: 국내외 연구동향 및 생태적 영향 고찰

        대기 중 미세먼지가 환경과 인간의 공중 보건에 악영향을 미치고 있다는 사실은 점점 명확해지고 있다. 미세먼지가 식물의 잎에 침착, 흡수되므로 식물이 미세먼지를 제거하는 바이오필터로 활용하기 위한 연구들이 활발히 진행되고 있다. 또한, 식물에 흡수된 미세먼지는 식물에 다양한 생리적, 형태적 영향을 미치게 된다. 본 연구는 식물과 미세먼지간의 상호작용에 대해 국내외에서 수행되어온 연구들의 방법과 결과를 특히 생태적 관점에서 종합 정리하였다. Airborne particulate matter (APM) is increasingly recognized that it has adverse impacts on environment and human public health. As plants can have a potential to reduce APM significantly by its deposition on leaves, considerable efforts has been made to use them as a biofilter. However, APM accumulation on plants can induce physiological and morphological alterations in plants. The present review aimed to synthesize the methods and results of the recent relevant research on interactions between plants and APM, especially from an ecological perspective, and briefly took into account the current status in Korea on this actively increasing research area.

        금속 벨로우즈 Diaphragm용 CAD 프로그램 개발

        A CAD program for metal bellows diaphragm was developed in this study. This program was written in AutoLISP on the AutoCAD system with a personal computer. Basic design concept used in this program is composition of a convolution that is tangent to two lines and 5 circles from given design parameters(initial radius, inner and outer diameter, thickness, pitch, etc.). The effects of altering some design parameters on stress distribution and fatigue life of bellows were estimated using commercial FEM code, NISAII. As a result, the metal bellows diaphragm was successfully designed by the CAD program. It is used to model a bellows geometry in pre-processor of FEM code. The FEM result shows that stress is dependent on straight line length, bellows diameter with same span, and fatigue life is also affected by design parameters.

        카약 스프린트 종목에서 패들 그립너비가 카약 전방 스트로크 동작과 보트 안정성에 미치는 영향

        The purpose of this study was to identify the contribution that paddle grip width has to successful performance during the forward stroke movement pattern, and boat stability in kayak sprinting. Eight male elite kayak athletes participated in this study. Kayak athletes performed kayak sprinting with three grip width conditions (preferred grip(PGW); narrow grip(NG); wide grip(WG)) while stroke frequency, paddling distance, knee joint ROM and angular velocity, trunk rotation ROM, boat stability, integrated EMG(rectus femoris: RF, biceps femoris:BF) were measured and analyzed. The results showed that kayak performance with preferred grip width condition is better than others. For the wide grip width, rotation of trunk is larger and iEMG of Biceps femoris. However, the boat stability was affected negatively. There were no overall significant differences, but some conditions were significant differences in Bonferroni’s post hoc test. Wide grip width helps make more rotation of trunk and more iEMG value of BF, but no good performance because of large ROM of boat roll angle. Large ROM of boat roll can be was a main factor reducing kayak velocity. The improvement of paddling technique to minimize ROM of rolling angle is needed for kayak athletes to use a wide grip width.
