In this paper, we have proposed and demonstrated a tonometry sensor array for measuring arterial pulse pressure. A sensor module consists of 7 piezoresistive pressure sensor array. Wire-bonded connection was provided between silicon chip and lead frame. PDMS(poly-dimethylsiloxane) was coated on the sensor array to protect fragile sensor while faithfully transmitting the pressure of radial artery to the sensor. Tonometric pulse pressure can be measured by this packaged sensor array that provides the pressure value versus the output voltage.

한의학에서 손목의 맥파를 손으로 짚어 보고 파형의 변화로써 병면의 원인을 파악하는 것은 기본적은 진단 방법이다. 진단을 위해 요골동맥의 촌, 관, 척 세 부위의 맥파를 수지를 일정 가입을 하며 맥의 깊이 , 강약, 빠르기 등을 촉진을 통해 맥상을 분석한다. 본 연구에서는 촌, 관, 척 부위를 동시 측정하기 위해 각 부위에 5개의 압력센서 어레이가 적용된 15채널 맥진기를 구성하였다. 또한 요골 동맥 부위에 적정 가압을 유지하기 위해 공기 커프를 이용한 공압 가압 방식을 적용하였다. 본 가압 방식을 통해 요골 동맥 부위에 연속적이며 정밀 가압제어가 가능하였다.

Functional gastrointestinal disorders affect millions of people of all age regardless of race and sex. There are, however, rare diagnostic methods for the functional gastrointestinal disorders because functional disorders show no evidence of organic and physical causes. Our research group identified recently that the gastrointestinal tract well in the patients with the functional gastrointestinal disorders becomes more rigid than healthy people when palpating the abdominal regions overlaying the gastrointestinal tract. The aim is, therefore, to develop a diagnostic method for the functional gastrointestinal disorders based on quantitative measurement of the rigidity of the gastrointestinal tract well using ultrasound technique. For this purpose, a preliminary ultrasound diagnostic system was developed and verified through phantom tests. The system consisted of transmitter, ultrasonic transducer, receiver, TGC, and CPLD, and verified via a phantom test. For the phantom test, ten soft-tissue specimens were harvested from porcine. Five of them were then treated chemically to mimic a rigid condition of gastrointestinal tract well, which was induced by functional gastrointestinal disorders. Additionally, the specimens were tested mechanically to identify if the mimic was reasonable. The customized ultrasound system was finally verified through application to human subjects with/without functional gastrointestinal disorders(Normal and Patient Groups). It was identified from the mechanical test that the chemically treated specimens were more rigid than normalspecimen. This finding was favorably compared with the result obtained from the phantom test. The phantom test also showed that ultrasound system well described the specimen geometric characteristics and detected an alteration in the specimens. The maximum amplitude of the ultrasonic reflective signal in the rigid specimens $(0.2{\pm}0.1Vp-p)$ at the interface between the fat and muscle layers was explicitly higher than that in the normal specimens $(0.1{\pm}0.0Vp-p)$ (p<0.05). Clinical tests using our customized ultrasound system for human subject showed that the maximum amplitudes of the ultrasonic reflective signals nea. to the gastrointestinal tract well for the patient group$(2.6{\pm}0.3Vp-p)$ were generally higher than those in normal group$(0.1{\pm}0.2Vp-p)$ (p<0.05). These results suggest that newly designed diagnostic system based on ultrasound technique may diagnose enough the functional gastrointestinal disorders.

When a patient is positioned at insulated bed and practitioner is positioned at insulated floor, that condition could be a cause of lessening effect in acupuncture practice. We investigated how Ground connection and Insulation could influence on the electrical meridian potential between practitioner and patient during acupuncture practice. We treated 30 normal healthy subjects with acupuncture and measured changes in the electrical potential between the stomach meridian points ST-39 and ST-37 in response to light touch after insertion of a needle at ST-36. At first, we stimulated non-insulated needle and measured electrical potentials for non ground, patient ground only, practitioner ground only, all ground respectively. Then we used insulated needles and measured same as above. Non-insulated all ground subject elicited positive mean potential $44.6{\pm}19.2{\mu}V$ and showed $181.4{\pm}59.7{\mu}V$ peak to peak potential. Practitioner ground only showed negative mean potential of $51.5{\pm}9.3{\mu}V$ and $367.4{\pm}27.8{\mu}V$ of peak to peak potential. Patient ground only revealed no mean potential of $2.9{\pm}1.3{\mu}V$, $16.4{\pm}11.9{\mu}V$ of peak to peak potential. All ground showed no mean potential of $1.6{\pm}0.7{\mu}V$, $3.3{\pm}1.9{\mu}V$ of peak to peak potential. In case of Insulated condition, there elicited no mean potential. Non ground and Practitioner only showed weak value of peak to peak potential as $7.8{\pm}2.6{\mu}V$ and $8.4{\pm}2.5{\mu}V$ each. But patient only and all ground showed no potential as $4.7{\pm}2.2{\mu}V$, $3.4{\pm}2.2{\mu}V$, respectively. Therefore, Ground connection modulate the energy transfer course between practitioner and patient. Insulation block energy transfer but static electrical impulse between practitioner and patient.

본 연구에서는 비침습적으로 압력 맥파를 검출하는 토노메트리 방식의 맥파 측정 장비인 SphygmoCor(AtCor, Australia)를 사용하여 측정자세에 따라 맥파를 측정하였다. 측정 결과를 통해 선 자세, 앉은 자세, 누운 자세에 따른 맥파의 분석 지표들의 변화를 분석하였다. 또한 측정된 데이터를 저혈압군, 정상혈압군, 고혈압군으로 구분하여 혈압군에 따른 맥파의 비교를 수행하였다. 그 결과 자세에 따른 요골동맥의 파형에서 유의차를 보인 분석지표는 맥파의 진폭에 해당되는 압력 분다 주요 피크가 발생되는 시간에서 나타났다. 맥압의 경우 맥파증대계수(AI)나 중심동맥압과 요골동맥압의 비율과 같이 맥압 간의 비율이 자세에 따른 변별력이 있었다. 사후검정에 따라 각 자세별로 상호 간에 모두 유의한 차이를 보인 분석지표는 주파(P_T1)와 반사파(P_T2)의 시간, 심박출지속시간(ED), 심박수(HR)로 나타났다. 혈압군에 대한 비교에서 대부분 맥파의 시간에 해당되는 지표보다 주요 피크의 진폭에 해당되는 맥파의 압력을 나타내는 지표가 혈압군에 따른 유의차를 보였다. In this study, pulse waves were measured at radial artery using non-invasive tonometric pulse pressure measurement system, SphygmoCor(AtCor, Australia), according to subject`s posture. Then it was analysed whether the pulse wave parameters, which contain heart activities, change among three different postures (upright stand, sit, and supine). And it was also verified that the pulse wave parameters change among blood pressure level groups(hypotensive, normotensive, and hypertensive). As a results, posture effects were verified in time information of pulse wave rather than amplitude. But some parameters calculated by ratio of two amplitude, such as augmented index(AI) and ratio of central aortic pulse and radial artery pulse, showed significant difference according to postures. In post hoc test, time to the 1st and 2nd pulse peak(P_T1 and P_T2), ED(ejection duration), and HR(heart rate) showed significant difference among posture groups with each other. In comparison of blood pressure groups, it was verified that the parameters related to amplitude of pulse wave showed significant difference rather than time information.
토노메트리 맥파 측정 압력 센서의 재현성 및 반복성 평가

본 논문에서는 기존 개발된 압력센서 어레이에 대하여 위에서 언급한 맥파 측정 센서의 조건에 부합하는지에 대한 성능 평가를 수행하였다. 가압 및 맥압의 동시 측정을 위하여 Piezoresistive 압력센서를 사용하였고, 맥폭을 측정할 수 있도록 어레이 형태로 구성하였다. 맥장의 측정은 촌, 관, 척을 측정을 통하여 가능하다. 사랑의 맥과 동일한 파형을 재생해주는 맥파 재현 장치를 이용하여 재현성 평가에 활용하였다. 진폭과 주기에 대한 반복성 및 재현성 평가 결과 Operator 간의 실험에서는 반복성 및 재현성이 10% 이하로 양호한 결과가 나왔다. 하지만 센서간 재현성에서 진폭의 경우 20%~30% 사이의 값으로 측정 능력 보통의 결과가 나왔다. 이것은 상하 이동 엑츄에이터에 센서를 위치시키는데 있어서 미세한 차이가 생겼거나 센서를 코팅하기 위한 PDMS의 미세한 두께차이 등으로 인한 패키징된 센서마다의 특징인 것으로 보인다.

Tuberculosis (TB) is a major global health problem, and multi-drug-resistant TB (MDR-TB) and extensively drug-resistant TB (XDR-TB) are spreading throughout the world. However, conventional drug susceptibility test (DST) methods, which rely on the detection of the colony formation on a solid medium, require 1-2 months to the result. A rapid and accurate DST is necessary to identify patients with drug-resistant TB and treat them with appropriate drugs. Here, we used microscopic imaging of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) immobilized in an agarose matrix for a rapid DST. The agarose matrix, which was molded in a microfluidic chip, was inoculated with MTB, and TB drugs in culture medium diffused throughout the agarose to reach the MTB immobilized in the agarose matrix. After the responses of MTB to drugs were tracked with an automated microscopic system, an image-processing program automatically determined the susceptibility and resistance of MTB to specific doses of TB drugs. The automatic DST system was able to assess the drug susceptibility of various drug-resistant clinical TB strains within 9 days with an accuracy comparable to that of conventional methods. Our rapid DST method based on microscopic time-lapse imaging greatly reduces the time required for a DST and can be used to rapidly and accurately treat TB patients.
