N/A Clinical observations were made at the Masan Korea General Hospital on 119 patients with primary carcinoma of the liver from March 1981 to December 1984 The following results were obtained: 1) The average age was 54. 5 years with the age ranged from 29 years old to 79 years old and the peak age incidence was in the 5th decade, amounting to 40.3% of the total. The ratio between male and female was 6.9:1 2) The chief complaints were pain in right upper quadrant of abdomen in 64.9% anorexia or indigestion in 51.3% epigastric discomfort in 47.9% fatigability in 43.7% and weight loss in 37.8%, in order of frequency. Physical examination showed hepatomegaly in 85.7% ascites in 37.8% edema in 31.9% and fever in 21.8% in order of frequency. 3) Liver function tests were revealed globulin elevation in 86.6% SGOT elevation in 79.8% hypoalbuminemia in 73.9% alkaline phosphatase elevation in 71.4% SGPT elevation in 51.3% and total bilirubin elevation in 40.3% in order of frequency. 4) HBsAg was positive in 54(45.4%) of the 119 cases and AFP was positive in 66(55.6%) of the 119 cases. It was observed that AFP is apt to be positive in the patient positive for HBsAg. 5) The presence of cold area could be demonstrated by liver scan in 92(77.3%) of 119 cases: 68.5% In the right lobe, 16.3% in the left lobe, 11.9% in both lobe and 3.3% in porta hepatis. 6) Pathological classification of 119 cases were 105 cases(88.2%,) of liver cell carcinoma and 14 cases(11.8%) of cholangiocellular carcinoma. 31(81.6%) of 38 cases were died within 6 month after biopsy.

Indocyanine green(ICG) and 5-aminolevulinic acid(5-ALA) have been widely used to mark blood vessels or tumors. However, fluorescent dye detection systems were designed to use one type of dyes only. In this study, we proposed a detection system capable of detecting Indocyanine green and 5-aminolevulinic acid. Multiple filters and light sources are integrated into a single system. In this study, we performed analysis of fluorescent dyes and configured a detection system. During the analysis, it was found that Indocyanine green and 5-aminolevulinic acid have the maximum intensity at $40{\mu}M$. We designed light source for fluorescent dyes and conducted compatibility test using a commercial surgical microscope. The fluorescent dye detection system was configured based on the experimental results. The developed system successfully detects Indocyanine green and 5-aminolevulinic acid. Therefore, more efficient surgical operations can be achieved using both fluorescent dyes at the same time. We expect that the developed system can increase the survival rate of patients.

현재 전력 계통에서 발생하는 고장 전류에 대한 해결책으로 초전도전력기기인 고온초전도 한류기가 실용화를 눈앞에 두고 있다. 그러나, 실제 계통에 적용하기에는 몇 가지의 과제들이 아직 남아있다. 그 중에서도 한류소자의 회복속도는 고장전류 발생 후 계통의 재폐로와 연계되기 위한 중요한 성능 요소라고 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 초전도 한류 소자로 쓰일 수 있는 다양한 YBCO CC(Coated Conductor)들의 회복 시간에 대하여 실험을 통하여 연구하였다. 10 ㎃의 전류를 초전도 선재에 지속적으로 인가하여, 고장전류 인가 후 발생하는 저항에 의한 전압의 추이를 관찰하여 회복 시간을 예측하였다. 그 후, 예측된 회복시간 후 전류를 재투입하여 선재의 회복을 확인하였고, 실제 회복 시간과 비교하고 분석하였다.
수술현미경에서의 다중형광영상을 이용한 뇌종양과 혈관영상 검출 시스템 연구

본 연구에서는 뇌 종양 수술에서 다수의 광원과 빔 스플리터 모듈을 사용해 종양과 혈관의 형광영상을 동시에 검출하고 획득한 형광영상을 동일한 디스플레이 장치에 표시함으로써 시술자에게 종양과 혈관의 정확한 정보를 실시간으로 제공할 수 있는 현미경 시스템을 제안한다. 5-ALA(5-Aminolevulinic acid) 와 ICG(Indocyanine green) 의 형광영상의 동시 검출을 위해 빔 스플리터(beam-splitter : BS)모듈을 사용하였고 5-ALA는 600nm, ICG는 800nm이상의 파장 대역에서 가장 효율이 뛰어나도록 구성하였다. 빔 스플리터 모듈은 파장 대역에 따라 광학기기의 구조를 변경할 수 있고 필터를 탈, 착 가능한 구조로 설계하여 필요에 따라 빔 스플리터와 필터의 종류를 변경할 수 있으며 5-ALA 및 ICG 이외의 형광염료를 사용한 시술에서 사용할 수 있다. 빔 스플리터 모듈을 통한 형광영상은 5-ALA는 가시광역, ICG는 근적외선 영역을 검출 할 수 있는 CCD 카메라를 장착해 동일한 디스플레이에서 확인할 수 있고 획득한 형광영상은 닮음 변환(similarity transform)을 이용해 원영상과 정합하여 실시간으로 시술자에게 제공하는 시스템을 구현하였다. In this paper, we propose a microscope system for detecting both a tumor and blood vessels in brain tumor surgery as fluorescence images by using multiple light sources and a beam-splitter module. The proposed method displays fluorescent images of the tumor and blood vessels on the same display device and also provides accurate information about them to the operator. To acquire a fluorescence image, we utilized 5-ALA (5-aminolevulinic acid) for the tumor and ICG (Indocyanine green) for blood vessels, and we used a beam-splitter module combined with a microscope for simultaneous detection of both. The beam-splitter module showed the best performance at 600 nm for 5-ALA and above 800 nm for ICG. The beam-splitter is flexible to enable diverse objective setups and designed to mount a filter easily, so beam-splitter and filter can be changed as needed, and other fluorescent dyes besides 5-ALA and ICG are available. The fluorescent images of the tumor and the blood vessels can be displayed on the same monitor through the beam-splitter module with a CCD camera. For ICG, a CCD that can detect the near-infrared region is needed. This system provides the acquired fluorescent image to an operator in real time, matching it to the original image through a similarity transform.

When a new suspension is being developed a good ride quality and handling performance will be achieved by co-work of vehicle designer, computer aided engineer and test driver. In this study. new suspension system has been developed. In order to analyze initial vehicle performance. VIDS (Vehicle Initial Design Software) operating system under windows 98 graphical interface environments is developed. By using this software. the initial design performance of study vehicle is calculated. and proper design parameters are researched. Also design and tuning specification of vehicle components are suggested in accordance with optimized parameters. <br/> In order to evaluate kinematic performance. ADAMS simulation is utilized by making quarter car model. Through this simulation. kinematic optimization of suspension system is suggested. Target performance is established using 3 vehicles (competitive 2 vehicles and 1 study vehicle) with subjective test at P/G(proving ground). To fulfil the performance target of the vehicle. a vehicle is built from vehicle layout and component design. Pro to car is built and tested and tuned to verify design validities. Simultaneously. subjective test of study vehicle is performed under ISO standard. Background: Gastrointestinal bowel movements are reduced by opioid-based anesthesia. Remifentanil is commonly used as total intravenous anesthesia. This study compared to the effect of various anesthetic methods on gastrointestinal bowel movement after colon surgery. Methods: Ninety patients were allocated randomly into three groups. Thirty patients received intraoperative inhalation anesthesia (desflurane + N2O, Group I), 30 patients received intraoperative total intravenous anesthesia (propofol + remifentanil, Group II), and 30 patients received intraoperative epidural anesthesia (epidural lidocaine + propofol, Group III). All patients received postoperative epidural analgesia with a mixture of ropivacaine and morphine. The time to the first passage of flatus, hospital stay and visual analog pain scale were recorded. Results: There was no significant difference in first passage of flatus among groups (Group I: 92.7 ± 19.6, Group II: 86.9 ± 19.4, Group III: 81.9 ± 12.8 hours, P = 0.063). There were no significant difference in the hospital stay and visual analog scale among the three groups. Conclusions: Total intravenous anesthesia with remifentanil did not reduce the gastrointestinal bowel movements compared with those of inhalation or epidural anesthesia.
