The response characteristics of a CVT vehicle is investigated numerically by using a Bondgraph model. Simulation results show the continuous behavior of the engine and the speed ratio for the CVT vehicle compared to the discrete behavior of the automatic transmission. Also, the optimal operation of the CVT vehicle is studied by using the Bondgraph model and a CVT map for a metal belt CVT which is derived from the speed ratio-torque-axial force equation from the previous works. It is found that the speed ratio of CVT has to be controlled corresponding to the optimal CVT ratio that makes the engine run on the optimal operating line.

Bone-plate inserted into the human body fixes the bone fractured. The plate is usually made of metallic materials. In the environment where bone is recovered, it is detrimental to act for the plate. The reason is that if the strength of the bone-plate is too high relative than that of bone, the plate bears most of the load receiving while the fracture is recovering, whereby the stress shielding phenomenon is caused in the bone. As a result, the bone due to the reduced stimulation causing low bone density has a greater risk of re-fracture. The purpose of this study is to design a Locking Compression Plate applied with Compliant Mechanism in order to improve the drawback and to analyze with a finite element analysis program ABAQUS and to compared to the conventional plate.

Today the elderly society became the reality and life expectancy has increased. But people tend to refrain from using their bones and muscles through everyday exercises. It results in lower bone density and skeletal weakness. Especially, femur, the joint which is frequently used, is aging and accumulating fatigue faster then any other joints in the human body. As a result of that, the portion of the artificial joint used to replace femur is increasing every year. But currently released femur artificial joint has high-density, high-solidity. Other bones around the artificial joint are getting weaker because of the replacement. In this study, the hip system compared the root of the femur artificial joint designed with 3D honeycomb structure to the existing model by using FEA.

When a bone is fractured, bone-plate is inserted into the human body to fix the bone. Usually the plate is made of metallic materials proved biocompatible safety. In the environment where bone begins to be recovered just, it is disadvantageous to act for the simple high strength plate. The reason is that this sites do not provide the best environment where according to the study of Perren, the initial resilience is the best when inter-fragmentary strain of the bone is 2~10%. In this study, Compliant Mechanism was applied to the Locking Compression Plate in order to design a plate with improved the drawback. Then, it was analyzed using a finite element analysis program ABAQUS and compared to the conventional bone-plate.

N/A Autologous mixed lymphocyte culture reaction (AMLCR) has been known to represent the generation of suppressor T cell without direct evidence that the proliferating cell is suppressor T cell itself. Our previous study had demonstrated that the proliferative response of T cell during AMLCR in the patients with Graves' disease is not different from that in normal control, The recent studies showed that suppressor induction factor(SIF) which induce suppressor T cell is produced during the AMLCR. We observed the SIF activity in the patients with Graves disease by measuring the suppression of normal allogeneic MLCR by the normal T cell incubated with the supernatant of AVLCR, and also observed the proliferative response of T cell incubated with the supernatant of AMLCR proliferate to determine whether the suppressor T cell proliferate or not during AMLCR. T cells incubated with the supernatant of AMLCR suppressed the allogeneic MLCR prominently in normal controls(55±11%), and the supernatant of patients' AMLC induced the suppressor T cells which successfully suppressed the allogeneic MLCR(50±9%). T cells incubated with the supernatant of AMLCR did not proliferate. These data indicate that the proliferating cells during AMLCR are the self-antigen recognizing T cells which secrets SIF, a kind of lymphokines, to induce the suppressor T cells, It is suggested that the process of self antigen recognization is normal in Graves' disease.
