        Quality of Life of Women with Urinary Incontinence: A Systematic Literature Review

        Purpose: The purpose of this study was to review studies that have examined the quality of life of women with urinary incontinence. Materials and Methods: A review was conducted that used the databases PubMED, Proquest, CINAHL, and Sciencedirect. Articles were included that were published in English between 2005 and 2010 the key words use were urinary incontinence, women, and quality of life. Results: A total of 18 studies were identified, and the prevalence of urinary incontinence varied depending on the definition of incontinence used and the age of the population studied. The Incontinence Quality of Life (I-QoL), Incontinence Impact Questionnaire-short form (IIQ-7), and King’s Health Questionnaire (KHQ) were the most commonly used instruments. Demographic, medical, physical, psychological, health, and intervention factors were reported as influencing factors on the quality of life of women with incontinence. Age, severity of urinary incontinence, type of urinary incontinence, number of urinary incontinence episodes, body weight, stress, and help-seeking behavior were statistically significant variables influencing quality of life. Conclusion: Future studies are needed to identify factors related to quality of life among women with incontinence and to use validated instruments according to specific subjects.

        Development of New Preventive and Therapeutic Vaccines for Tuberculosis

        Tuberculosis (TB) is a contagious disease that has been responsible for the death of one billion people in the last 200 years. Until now, the only vaccine approved for the prevention of TB is Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG), which is prepared by attenuating Mycobacterium bovis. However, one of the limitations of BCG is that its preventive effect against pulmonary TB varies from person to person. Therefore, there arises a need for a new TB vaccine to replace or supplement BCG. In this review, we have summarized the findings of current clinical trials on preventive and therapeutic TB vaccine candidates. In addition, we have discussed a novel vaccination approach using the cell-based vaccine presenting early secretory antigenic target-6 (ESAT-6), which is a potent immunogenic antigen. The role of ESAT-6 in hosts has also been described.

        뇌졸중 환자의 간호성과지표 개발

        Purpose: This study was conducted to develop nursing outcome indicators based on nursing activities done for stroke patients. Method: focus group meeting and delphi technique, which consisted of clinical nurse experts, neurologist, and nursing professors. CVI(Index of Content Validity) and user validity test was performed. Result: 12 nursing diagnoses, 29 nursing interventions and nursing outcomes were identified. The former were from NIC and the latter were developed according to nursing interventions. They were verified by experts in focus group. 199 nursing activities were identified, 133 nursing outcome indicators were developed. In user validity, usefulness and usability were tested. Conclusion: This systemic approach of measuring nursing outcomes verified nurses' positive effects in changing patients health status and nursing contributions in the health care system as a profession.

        실천적 문제 중심 프로그램 개발 과정에 따른 초등 가정과 세계시민교육 내용체계 개발

        본 연구는 2022 개정 교육과정의 맥락에서 세계시민교육이 필요함에 따라 실천적 문제 중심 프로그램 개발 과정에 따른 초등 가정과 세계시민교육 프로그램 내용체계를 개발하는 데 목적이 있다. 본 연구는 분석, 설계, 개발 및 전문가 협의 과정을 거쳐 이루어졌다. 첫째, 분석 단계에서는 가정과에서의 세계시민교육이 요구되는 교육적 흐름을 밝히기 위해 2022 개정 교육과정 총론과 각론, 교육부 발표 자료, 세계시민교육 관련 미래 교육 문서를 분석하여 국가 교육과정에서 세계시민교육의 필요성을 확인하였다. ‘급변하는 미래 사회를 살아갈 학생들은 세계시민역량이 반영된 가정과교육에서 실천적 행동을 통해 궁극적인 목표인 개인과 사회의 웰빙을 이루는 것이 목표’임을 관계적으로 보여주는 가정과 세계시민교육 목표 프레임워크를 도출하였다. 이에 따라 항구적 문제로 “생활환경과 관련한 지속 가능한 선택을 위해 세계시민으로서 나는 어떤 행동을 해야 할까?”를 설정하였다. 설계 단계에서는, 2022 개정 초등학교 가정과교육과정에서 ‘생활환경과 지속 가능한 선택’ 영역의 핵심아이디어 네 개를 분석하여 하위관심사와 실천적 문제를 각각 도출하였다. 마지막으로 개발 단계에서는, 가정과 세계시민교육 목표 프레임워크에서 근거한 네 가지 내용요소 도출 기준에 따라 내용요소를 도출하였다. 본 연구는 미래 사회를 대비하는 세계시민역량 관련 문서와 2022 개정 교육과정 총론과 가정과교육과정을 분석하고 가정과에서의 세계시민교육 필요성을 분석하여, 가정과 세계시민 교육의 기반이 되는 교육방향을 제시한 데 의의가 있다. The purpose of this study is to develop the global citizenship education program content system in the context of the 2022 revised home economics curriculum, recognizing the need for global citizenship education. The study is grounded in practical problem-based program. In the analysis stage, the educational trend requiring global citizenship education in the national curriculum was elucidated by analyzing the 2022 revised curriculum documents and future education documents related to global citizenship education. A framework for global citizenship education goals within home economics curriculum was designed. Accordingly, the educational goal of this curriculum, “Cultivation of family competencies linked to global citizenship competencies,” was established by posing the perennial question, “As a global citizen, what actions should I take for sustainable choices related to the living environment?” In the design stage, four key ideas in the “Living Environment and Sustainable Choices” domain of the 2022 revised home economics curriculum for elementary school were analyzed to derive practical problems. In the development stage, content elements were derived based on four criteria. This study is significant in analyzing the need for global citizenship education within home economics context by analyzing documents related to global citizenship competencies for the future and examining the 2022 revised curriculum's general framework and home economics education curriculum.

        황사 발생과 일부 초등학교 학생들의 자각증상 및 행동변화

        Purpose : While there have been growing concerns about the effects of Asian dusts on health, there are few studies for relationship between Asian dusts and health outcome. This study was designed to examine the perceived symptoms and behavior change of children during the Asian Dust events. Methods : We surveyed 459 students at an elementary school in Seoul, Korea from November 20th to 27th 2002. Children with parents were asked to return the completed questionnaires within a week. The questionnaires included the sociodemographic factor, previous respiratory disease, and perceived symptom, hospital visits and behavior change during the Asian dusts. Results : The majority of children reported that they restrained going out and outdoor recreational activity during the Asian dusts. The rate of children who worn the mask was 49% and 47% in second grade and fifth grade, respectively. Regarding the perceived symptom during the Asian dusts, the children in 2nd were more likely to have symptom than 5th and there were significant difference between two groups in cough. asthma symptom, dry cough, phlegm and medication for allergy or asthma symptom. In addition, children who had previous disease were more likely to change behavior in order to prevent the effects of Asian dusts. Conclusions : This study suggested that the younger children and children who had past respiratory disease were susceptible to the effect of Asian dusts. There is a need for providing public information and health education to prevent the impact of Asian dusts on health.

        황사 기간 동안에 어린이, 성인, 노인에서의 자각증상과 예방행동에 대한 조사연구

        Purpose: Recently there are scientific evidences for the health effects of Asian dust-storms. Particularly in 2002, the daily average of PM_(10) exceeded 600 and 700 ㎍/㎥ in March and April respectively. We examined the effects of Asian dust-storms on perceived symptoms and preventive behaviors among children, adults, and elders. Method: The subjects of this study were 425 children, 444 adults and 60 elders. A questionnaire survey was carried out on the children and the adults by teachers and on the elders by interviewers to obtain information on demographic variables, perceived symptoms and preventive behaviors, previous respiratory disease, environmental tobacco smoke, and proximity between the house and the road during Asian dust-storms. We analyzed using descriptive statistics, X_(2) test and multiple logistic regression models. After adjustment for potential confounders, we estimated the odds ratios and 95% confidence intervals of the children and the elders for perceived symptoms and preventive behaviors. Result: The elders had a significantly higher prevalence of respiratory symptoms than the other groups. The children had a significantly higher prevalence than the adults in getting URI (1.51), coughing (1.68), rhinorrhea (1.46), fever (2.39) and medication for allergy or asthma (1.90). The children had better behaviors than the elders in closing windows (3.57), taking less outdoor recreational activity (2.59) and staying home (2.60).

        임상교육의 임상지도자(Preceptor) 활용모델 적용효과 연구

        This study examined effect of preceptorship on clinical education of senior nursing students of Y. university in Seoul. Quasi- experimental study design was used . Sixty students of pre-test and 80 of post-test participated in this study. Competency scores of the students before the clinical educaton(pre-competency scores) were compared with the competency scores after the clinical education(post-competency scores), and teacher evaluation scores between preceptors and clinical instructors were also compared. Difference between the data from students with preceptors(experimental group, N=22) and with clinical instructors(comparative group, N=58) were also examined. Study results indicated that the total post- competency scores were higher compared to the total pre-competency scores, and the difference was statistically significant. Among 7 sub-domains, differences were all statistically significant in 6 sub-domains except "self-esteem" domain. Competency scores of the students who had clinical education with preceptors were higher than those of students who had clinical education from clinical instructors. But the difference between those scores was not statistically significant. However, students gave higher evaluation scores to preceptors than clinical instructors. This study concluded that preceptorship did not influence much on clinical education at this time yet. However it is expected that when preceptors adjust their new roles and function them in expert level, this system would be effective for the clinical education. This study recommended that for the preceptors to increase their motivation to teach students and to accept their roles, systemic rewards are needed.
