        Crystal Structure and Comparative Sequence Analysis of GmhA from Colwellia psychrerythraea Strain 34H Provides Insight into Functional Similarity with DiaA

        The psychrophilic organism Colwellia psychrerythraea strain 34H produces extracellular polysaccharide substances to tolerate cold environments. Sedoheptulose 7- phosphate isomerase (GmhA) is essential for producing Dglycero- D-mannoheptose 7-phosphate, a key mediator in the lipopolysaccharide biosynthetic pathway. We determined the crystal structure of GmhA from C. psychrerythraea strain 34H (CpsGmhA, UniProtKB code: Q47VU0) at a resolution of 2.8 Å. The tetrameric structure is similar to that of homologous GmhA structures. Interestingly, one of the catalytic residues, glutamate, which has been reported to be critical for the activity of other homologous GmhA enzymes, is replaced by a glutamine residue in the CpsGmhA protein. We also found differences in the conformations of several other catalytic residues. Extensive structural and sequence analyses reveal that CpsGmhA shows high similarity to Escherichia coli DnaA initiatorassociating protein A (DiaA). Therefore, the CpsGmhA structure reported here may provide insight into the structural and functional correlations between GmhA and DiaA among specific microorganisms.

        분만중 제왕절개 환자 마취시 경막외 무통 시행후 척추마취와 단일척추마취 간의 효용성 비교

        Background: Spinal anesthesia (SA) after epidural labor analgesia (ELA) can have advantages over augmentation of ELA due to its rapid onset and high-quality analgesia. However, unexpected side effects and diverse failure rates have been reported in women that received SA after ELA. We prospectively compared the effectiveness and side effects of SA after ELA versus SA only for intrapartum cesarean section. Methods: The ELA/SA group received continuous epidural infusion at a rate of 10 ml/h for labor pain. In both groups, spinal anesthesia was induced with 10 mg of 0.5% hyperbaric bupivacaine and 15 μg of fentanyl using a pencil point needle. The rate of conversion to general anesthesia, the need for intraoperative analgesic supplements, and the incidence of high spinal block and hypotension were investigated. Results: The rate of conversion to general anesthesia was higher in the ELA/SA group compared with the SA group (15.2 vs. 2.7%). Eighty percent of the conversion cases in the ELA/SA group were converted due to lack of sensory block. The need for intraoperative analgesic supplements and the rates of high spinal block and hypotension were comparable in the two groups. Conclusions: SA after ELA is associated with a high rate of conversion to general anesthesia during intrapartum cesarean section.

      • Humic Acids Degradation and Membrane Fouling in Photocatalytic MF Systems for Drinking Water Treatment

        Humic acids (HA) that are one of the major organic components in natural water play an important role in water treatment because they can interact with metals, trace organics, and chlorine while generating toxic complexes and by-products. In this work, photocatalytic degradation of HA and its kinetic behavior were investigated in a photocatalytic microfiltration (MF) system, along with evaluation of membrane permeability at different fluxes. The mechanisms of adsorption and desorption of HA on TiO₂ surfaces were elucidated with adsorption isotherm tests of HA before and after photocatalysis of humic water. The kinetic parameters for humic acids, K (rate constant) and K (equilibrium adsorption coefficient) of the Langmuir-Hirnshelwood equation, were obtained based on mass balances in continuous stirred tank reactor (CSTR) operations. Regarding membrane fouling resistance. It was found that the fouling rate constant started increasing substantially when the flux increased to a level of greater than 50 L/m²-h. This indicated that the photocatalytic MF system should be operated at a flux below the critical value to prevent serious membrane fouling.

        감잎, 녹차, 회화나무 열매 추출 복합물 (BLH308)의 탈모 개선 효과

        Background: Persimmon leaf (Diospyros kaki), green tea (Camellia sinensis), and sophora fruit (Sophora japonica) are traditional food sources known to prevent oxidative stress and inflammation. However, research on their effect in reducing hair loss is lacking. The purpose of this study was to determine whether an extract mading using these plants, BLH308 could help reduce hair loss. Methods and Results: The antioxidant activity of BLH308 in vitro was investigated as well as its anti-inflammatory effect in RAW 264.7 cells and its effect on the expression of 5-alpha reductase Ⅱ in human dermal papilla cells. BLH308 showed significant antioxidant activity owing to its ability to scavenge 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl and 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) radicals. Moreover, BLH308 effectively inhibited the lipopolysaccharide-induced production of interleukin-6 and tumor necrosis factor-α in RAW 264.7 cells, and downregulated the expression of 5-alpha reductase Ⅱ in human dermal papilla cells. In vivo, the hair growth promoting effect was evaluated using hair growth visual scoring. BLH308 reduced hair loss in testosterone propionateinduced hair loss C57BL/6N mice by promoting the onset of growing phase of the hair growth cycle. Conclusions: Our results showed that BLH308 can promote hair regeneration and repair hair loss, and is a potential novel candidate for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia.

        破产管理人履职的困境及出路

        2006에 공포된「중화인민공화국 기업파산법」의 규정에 의하면, 채무자 의 파산신청을 접수하여 파산절차에 들어가게 되는 경우에 법원의 지정파산 관리인이 파산기업을 관리하게 되고, 그 파산관리인은 파산관리의 직무를 개시한다. 파산관리인의 직무수행은 채권자의 이익을 보호하는데 있다. 본고에서는 파산관리인의 직책에 대한 문제제기-원인-대책의 논리적인 연역법에 따라 10여 년간의 파산법의 실시에 관한 실무를 검토하여 파산관 리인의 직무수행과정에서 존재하는 문제를 분석한다. 즉 파산재산 관리 중 에 취득하는 실질재산에 대한 기록의 어려움, 파산재산관리 중 파산기업의 양호재산을 법원이 관리함에 있어서의 어려움, 파산재산조정 중 조사명령의 어려움, 파산관리인이 관리 경험이 없거나 전문성이 없어서 파산기업의 경 영관리에 있어 근본적인 도움의 부족과 관리감독의 어려움, 좁고 한정된 추 급의 어려움, 채무자 재산과 채권자 이익을 처리함에 있어서 충돌하는 어려 움 등이다. 그러한 곤경이 발생하는 원인은 주로 법원과 파산관리인이 채권 과 채무를 명백하게 밝히지 못하기 때문인데, 이는 파산관리인의 권한과 직 무수행에 대한 표준이 불명확함에 있다. 본고에서는 이러한 문제에 기초하여 파산절차상에서 발생하는 어려움에 대한 문제와 해결방법을 제시하고자 한다. 즉, 법원과 파산관리인 간의 직 무와 책임의 한계를 분명하게 하는 한편 파산관리인의 권한과 직무수행의 기준을 명확하게 하는 파산관리인의 직무수행 평가시스템에 대한 필요성을 제시하고자 한다. According to the 2006 promulgation of the People's Republic of China Enterprise Bankruptcy Law provisions, the court ruled that the acceptance of the debtor's bankruptcy filing, which entered bankruptcy proceedings, the court will appoint a trustee to take over the bankrupt enterprise, bankruptcy administrator started to perform management duties of bankruptcy. The proper performance of the insolvency administrator plays a fundamental role in protecting the interests of the creditors. Therefore, the bankruptcy administrator's responsibility analysis, logical deduction by reason and countermeasure, combined with the practice of more than 10 years of implementation of the bankruptcy law, bankruptcy administrator has analysis in the process of performance: get real property records over the bankruptcy property in the bankrupt property management difficulties; the individual court for bankruptcy enterprise quality property management of court investigation dilemma; obtain the bankruptcy property investigation; bankruptcy administrator no actual management authority and professional competence, not from the management and supervision of the bankrupt enterprise fundamentally help the plight of the narrow right to recover; dilemma; disposal of the debtor's assets and creditors' interests conflict. The main reason is that the power and responsibility of the court and the bankruptcy administrator are not clear enough, the authority of the bankruptcy administrator and the standard of performance is not clear. On this basis, the countermeasures are put forward: clarify the responsibilities between the court and the bankruptcy administrator, clarify the functions and responsibilities of the bankruptcy administrator, and establish an assessment mechanism for the bankruptcy administrator's performance.
