      • Synthesis of N-doped TiO<sub>2</sub> nanoparticles via sol-gel method

        TiO<sub>2</sub> is widely used as a ceramic material field which has been used in many research fields due to its low cost, high photocatalytic activity, effective charge separation and high oxidation-reduction performance. In this study, we synthesized of TiO<sub>2</sub> nanoparticles by Nitrogen doped to decrease of band-gap energy which improve the photocatalytic activity on the visible light region. Titanium tetraisopropoxide, isopropyl alcohol, acetyl acetone, and acetic acid were prepared to TiO<sub>2</sub> precursor solution. TiO<sub>2</sub> nanoparticle was titration of pH by ethylene diamine in nitrogen gas condition. To explore the visible light photocatalytic activity of the nitrogen doped TiO<sub>2</sub> photocatalyst in variety conditions of aging time, heat temperature and the removal of methylene blue dye was investigated. The synthesized TiO<sub>2</sub> nanoparticles crystalline structure and morphology were characterized by XRD, SEM and TEM.

        『겨울이야기』 속의 겨울이야기, 그리고 진짜 겨울이야기

        As the generic identity of the play is suggestively registered in its very title of The Winter’s Tale, the play can be read as a tale about the winter’s tale of old wives. As such the play has a structure of a play within a play, and it is revealed at the critical moment when the prince tells a winter’s tale to his mother queen. Above all, the prince’s role of gender reversal can be identified with the role of a master playwright who tries to appropriate old wives’ winter tale. But since when the prince’s tale was abruptly stopped by his father king and the prince died soon, meta-dramatic frame of winter’s tale receded into background and the real winter’s tale of mother developed who has lost their children. And at the final statue scene, master playwright’s early concern with the appropriation of the tradition of old wives’ tale turned into the self-reflective recognition of old wives’ right and competence for the winter’s tale. In the statue scene, no literal miracle occurred; no transcendent presence appeared, but women who had overcome the winter of life came to possesses the power of faith and even magic to make the male audience remain faithful to the illusion of experiencing a miracle. Thus, the master playwright’s creation of his own winter’s tale comes to the conclusion that old wives who have overcome the life of winter are best for winter’s tale, rescuing from male prejudice against old wives’ tale the unique mode of old women’s perception and belief.

        최근 과학기술의 급격한 발달로 인하여 생활방식에 많은 변화가 일어나고 있다. 특히 정보통신기술 (information communication technology: ICT)을 일상생활에 활용하여 편리하고 친환경적인 기술을 개 발하여 적용하는 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 미래에 대비하여 미래 생활상의 도출과 미래기술 연구 전략 및 정책 수립을 위해 향후 10년간 ICT 융합기술 발전이 어떻게 세계 경제와 사회를 변화시킬지 이해하고 미래를 이끌 차세대 유망기술을 발굴해 내야 할 필요성이 있다. 따라서 미래에는 구체적인 ‘욕구(needs)’에 부합해야 돈을 벌 수 있을 것이며, 마케팅은 점차 집단이 아니라 개인을 대상으로 이 루어질 것이다. 본 연구결과 정보 전달과 광고는 점차 하나로 합쳐질 것이라고 하며 공유경제가 트렌 드로 크게 다가올 것임을 예측한다. Recently, due to the sudden(rapid) development in technology many changes has occurred, and there have been many types of research actively conducted(processed) into the development and applying in ICT(Information Communication Technology) to conjugate in daily life to make a convenient and environmentally friendly technology. To prepare for the deduction for future living and research strategies and policy development for future technology, there is a need to understand how the ICT fusion technology development will affect in the following 10 years on global economy and society and also a need to discover prospective technologies which will lead the next generation. Therefore, in the future, there will be a specific 'need' to comply for earning money, and marketing will increasingly change to targeting individuals, not groups. Likewise, information transfer and advertisements will gradually become combined and a prediction that the sharing economy will become a trend in the future.

        The analgesic effect of ultrasound-guided transverse abdominis plane block after laparoscopic totally extraperitoneal hernia repair

        Background: The ultrasound-guided transverse abdominis plane block (TAPB) reduces postoperative pain after laparoscopic abdominal surgery. But, its effect post laparoscopic totally extraperitoneal hernia repair (TEP) is not clear. In this study, we evaluated the analgesic effect of ultrasound-guided TAPB in TEP. Methods: In this prospective, randomized study, forty adult patients (ASA I-II) scheduled for a TEP under general anesthesia were studied. In the TAPB group (n = 20), an ultrasound-guided bilateral TAPB was performed with 0.375% ropivacaine 15 ml on each side after the induction of general anesthesia. The control group (n = 20) did not have TAPB performed. Fentanyl 50 μg was repeatedly injected as per the patient’s request in the recovery room. Pain scores at rest and on coughing were assessed postoperatively in the recovery room (20 min, at discharge) and at 4, 8, and 24 hours after surgery. Results: In the recovery room, pain scores (numeric rating scale, 0-10) at postoperative 20 min were lower in the TAPB group (3.9 ± 1.6, 4.9 ± 1.8) than the control group (6.9 ± 1.6, 8.0 ± 1.6) at rest and on coughing. Also, pain scores upon discharge from the recovery room were lower in the TAPB group (3.2 ± 1.2, 4.2 ± 1.5) than the control group (5.3 ± 1.6, 6.5 ± 1.8) at rest and on coughing. Conclusions: The ultrasound-guided TAPB in patients that had undergone TEP reduced postoperative pain scores and the fentanyl requirement in the recovery room. Also, pain scores on coughing were reduced until postoperative 8 hours.

        A Korean familial case of hereditary complement 7 deficiency

        Meningococcal infections can be associated with abnormalities of the complement system, which contains 5 terminal complement proteins. Furthermore, deficiencies in 1 of these 5, complement component 7 (C7), leads to the loss of complement lytic function, and affected patients show increased susceptibility to recurrent meningococcal meningitis and systemic Neisseria gonorrhoeae infection. In September 2003, an 11-year-old female patient presented at our outpatient department with high fever, lower leg pain, headache, and petechiaes. She rapidly progressed to coma but later achieved full recovery due to prompt treatment. Her final diagnosis was meningococcal sepsis and arthritis. Her elder brother also had a similar bacterial meningoencephalitis history, which encouraged us to perform analyses for complement component and gene mutations. Resultantly, both the brother and sister were found to have the same mutation in the C7 gene. Subsequently, vaccinations of the meningococcal vaccine meningococcal vaccine (MenomuneⓇ) were administered. However, in September 2006, the brother expired due to acute micrococcus meningoencephalitis. At present, the 16-year-old female patient is healthy. Here, we report a Korean family with a hereditary C7 deficiency with susceptibility to meningococcal infections due to C7 gene mutation.
