정성화,백승룡 최신의학사 1975 最新醫學 Vol.18 No.1
Sanguisorba Officinolis L (S. 0. L.) has been known to possess phytohemagglutin activity. This experimental study is undertaken to evaluate whether S. 0. L. has effect on hematopoietic activity in rabbit. Each rabbit of experimental group was injected 1.0ml of S.O. L. extract intravenously just after bleeding, and studied peripheral blood in R.B.C. count, hematocrit count, hemoglobin, reticulocyte count, total W. B. C. count, lymphocyte and granulocyte count. The result obtained are as follow: 1. Interval of recovery in erythrocytic series was shortened by S.O. L. injection after bleeding. 2. Higher level of peripheral leukocyte count in early stage was noted by S.O.L. injection after bleeding. 3. Higher level of peripheral leukocyte count was due to increased lymphocyte count. S. 0. L. seems to possess activities to stimulate the bone marrow hematopoiesis and the lymphopoiesis.

The Korea-Russia relationship during the Japanese colonial period has long been neglected among scholars. Researchers both in Korea and Russia did not pay much attention to relationship between the two countries during this period as if nothing happened. But it is during this period for the first time in Korean history when many Russians fled to the Korean peninsula seeking refuge from the Bolsheviks who advanced to the Russian Maritime Province in early 1920's. The Yankvosky family was one of the most well-known Russian refugees in Korea. This paper is a historical record of Mikhail Yankovsky and his descendants who have settled in the Korean peninsula. Originally a Polish political prisoner, Mikhail was exiled to Siberia due to his participation in the 1861 Polish uprising against the Russian government. After freed from the labor camp, he became pioneer of Siberian frontier and became a rich owner of a horse farmland. When the Bolsheviks advanced to Vladivostok in 1922, his descendants decided to move into Juel hot springs, located in northern part of the Korean peninsula. Escaped with nothing in hand, the Yankvosky family had to start from the beginning. they worked hard, and the Novina became a famous resort among Russian societies in East Asia. This paper reviews how the Novina formed and developed, and finally demised after the end of the 2nd world war.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of temporary visual block existence and nonexistence on the change in foot pressure and foot area in stroke patients. Methods: Sixty-one chronic stroke patients volunteered to participate in the study. Foot pressure and foot area were measured using the Biorescue system. The subject maintain a comfortable standing position on the pressure-measuring plate one meter away from the computer. The sequence of the visual variation data while standing on the measuring plate was collected randomly. The data were collected with three repetitions and used the five-second measuring values except the first second and the last second according to each visual condition. All data were analyzed using SPSS version 21.0. The significance level for the statistical inspection was set as 0.05. Results: The comparison between the visual existence and nonexistence status showed statistically significant effects on foot pressure and foot area. The visual nonexistence status showed more improvement in foot pressure symmetry and area than visual existence status. Conclusion: This study shows that the foot pressure and foot area for the chronic stroke patients changed according to the visual states. It is predicted that these data will be used in rehabilitation training programs and to present temporary changes in visual status for stroke patients.

This article is a historical record of a Polish political prisoner, Mikhail Ivanovich Yankovsky (1842-1912), who left a large footprint in the Siberian development during the second half of 19th century Russia. As a university student, Yankovsky participated in January Uprising of 1863 against the authoritarian regime of Russia. The uprising was unsuccessful and resulted in loss of his noble status and wealth as well as forced labor for 8 years in Siberia. Yankovsky became a mine expert during his time in Siberia and later became a pioneer of the Siberian development after he was freed. The Russian government began to accelerate its development in the Siberian region since the late 19th century. Due to lack of trained professionals in Siberia, the government had to employ the political prisoners who had extensive science knowledge, such as Yankovsky, in East Siberian Branch of the Russian Geographical Society to expedite its expedition and research of the region. Years of experience as a miner helped him settle as a manager of a gold mine in Askold Island, which is located 50 kilometers away from Vladivostok. In 1877, Yankovsky discovered Sidemy Penninsula, located 20 miles south of Vladivostok. Sidemy was a region yet to be introduced to the west, occupied by the aborigines, Chinese, and Koreans. Yankovsky was able to obtain a long-term lease contract through Gustav F. Erdman (1818-1883), a regional military governor. Yankovsky was able to start a horse farm while fighting off the wild animals and Chinese horse thieves. This also resulted in protection of the Korean immigrants in the region and the Yankovsky family received great respect and trust from the community. The successful management of the horse farm resulted in significant accumulation of wealth as well as contribution to the regional development. Upon Mikhail Yankovsky’s death in 1912, the horse farm was taken over by the eldest son Yury Yankovsky and continued to florush.
