This study examined the effects of particle size on characteristics of cement by controlling the particle size of commercial cement. Through a size adjustment, the cement has increasing more of particles that are less than $10{\mu}m$ in size so the initial reaction time has been shortened as a result of improvement in the early hydration reaction. Additionally, it showed a great characteristics of strength from the early age and the initial hydration heat has been increased as well. In the upper and middle parts cements, the initial hydration reaction rate contribution is high with the $10{\mu}m$ compared to original cement. So the initial hydration reaction rate is improved and as a result, it also showed relatively high hydration heat as well. Additionally, adiabatic temperature also showed an increase rate in the results.

Rheological properties of cement paste containing ultrafine blastfurnace slag (UBS, 9600 cm2/g) were investigated by mini-slumptest, pH meter, conduction calorimeter and coaxial cylinder viscometer. In order to improve rheological properties of the cement paste, granulated blastfurnace slag (GBS, 3500 cm2/g) and polycarboxylate type superplasticizer (PC) were also used in this experiment. Thefluidity of cement paste containing UBS was decreased. The yield stress and plastic viscosity of cement paste was increased withincreasing UBS. But the rheological properties were improved when GBS and PC were added to UBS blended cement paste. In therelationship between the yield stress and the plastic viscosity or the mini-slump value, the yield stress of the cement paste wasproportional to the plastic viscosity of it. However the cement paste mini-slump value was in inverse proportional to the yield stres.

In this study, rheological properties of cement pastes containing ground Finex-slag (4000, 6000, 7000 c$m^2$/g) were investigated bymini-flow test and coaxial cylinder viscometer. And also blast furnace slag(4000, 6000, 7000 c$m^2$/g) were used for comparison. According to the experimental results, Finex-slag and blast furnace slag showed very similar trend in the rheological properties of the cement pastes. The fluidity of cement pastes blended Finex-slag and blast furnace slag powder were improved by high replacement ratio. In the relationship of plastic viscosity and yield stress appeared the tendency of the proportion greatly. And in the relationship of plastic viscosity, yield stress and mini-flow appeared the tendency of the inverse proportion.

Efects of ultrafinely ground ash on the rheological properties of cement paste were investigated. Also compressive strengthasincluded for comparison. According to the results of ultrafine ash blended cement paste in the lower W/B ratio, the fluidity were high, and the setting time was a little retarded. And the compressive strength of ultrafine ash blended mortar was increased in the long term.In the case of hardened cement paste at 28 days, Ca(OH)2 contents was decreased in order of control, ultrafine ash, silica fume blendedcement due to diference of the pozzolanic reaction.

Effects of limestone powder on the hydration of cement were studied by measuring non-evaporable water, Ca(OH)_2, remained CaCO_3 and the rate of heat liberation. It was found that the addition of 5% limestone was found to have no significant effect on the hydration of cement. The calcium carboaluminate hydrate(2θ=11.7˚) was identified by XRD in the cement paste contained more than 10% limestone. However, the amount of limestone remained in the paste was almost same as it of mixed limestone.
