Robust Visual Tracking Integrating Spatio-Temporal Model
Min Jiang,Jiao Wu,Jun Kong,Chenhua Liu,Shengwei Tian 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Signal Processing, Image Vol.9 No.10
Recently, the compressive tracking (CT) method has attracted much attention due to its high efficiency. However, the CT extracts samples around the previous target region within a fixed search radius; the searching area is unsuitable when the target undergoes abrupt acceleration change. Meanwhile, the classifier learns the features of the target online without judgment even the target is fully occluded. Thus, the improper searching area and incorrectly updated features lead to a marked drop in precision of tracking. To solve this issue, a robust target tracking method integrating spatio-temporal model to constrain the searching area is proposed in this paper. Different from CT, the proposed method initially constructs the spatio-temporal model to calculate a confidence map between consecutive frames, and the region with high confidence suggests the high possibility that target exists. Thus the samples can be extracted in the high confidence area. Then, the optimal target location can be estimated with a naive Bayes classifier using sparse coding features. Experiments show that the proposed method outperforms several competing methods in efficiency and robustness.
Impact of high-speed railroad on regional income inequalities in China and Korea
Min Jiang,김의준 서울시립대학교 도시과학연구원 2016 도시과학국제저널 Vol.20 No.4
The purpose of this study is to analyse the impact of opening high-speed railroad (HSR) on the regional income inequality in China and Korea. The convergence models are applied to test the effect of the HSR on regional growth in terms of GRDP per capita across 455 cities and counties along the Beijing–Shanghai HSR corridor and 112 cities and counties along the Seoul–Busan HSR corridor, respectively. The results indicate that at the national level, a trend of convergence emerges during the three-year period of analysis in both China and Korea. At the HSR passing area level, HSR contributes to accelerate regional economic convergence and reduce the regional income disparities in China and Korea; however, HSR has different impacts on reducing the regional income inequality in China and Korea considering the HSR station cities. In Korea, the regional inequality is rather wider among the cities where HSR station located.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>The energy transfer (ET) between InGaN/GaN multiple‐quantum‐well (MQW) nanorods (NRs) and semiconductor nanocrystals (NCs) for efficient color conversion is studied. An exceptional contribution of carrier transport confinement to the ET mechanisms is observed in the proximal side‐wall coupling system, which consists of InGaN/GaN NRs and CdSe NCs. Under relatively low or high excitation, the ET rate shows different carrier‐density dependence, resulting from different electron‐hole configurations, i.e., bound excitons and free carriers. In the localized exciton regime, the ET rate decreases when increasing temperature from 20 K to 200 K. However, in the free‐carrier regime, the ET rate varies insignificantly in the same temperature range. The temperature dependence in this NR‐NC coupling system is different from that in the previously studied planar MQW‐NC coupling system. It is suggested that the carrier transport confinement in NRs is a major factor for these divergences. The highly efficient ET with efficiency up to 80% shows a promising potential of using such NR‐NC coupled structures for ET‐pumped, NC‐based, light‐emitting devices.</P>

There has been an increasing focus on the high levels of PM2.5 emissions and theworsening air quality in Korea and China. Recently, the debate over air pollution mitigationstrategies has shifted from implementing conventional “end-of-pipe” solutions focusing insteadon the direct role played by consumers. Central governments should distinguish different regions’respective pollution burdens to meet national emission reduction targets by considering theireconomic differences and industry structures. With the use of a multiregional input–outputanalysis approach, this paper breaks down the PM2.5 emission patterns of 19 different industriesin 9 Chinese regions and 16 Korean regions through a comparison of a production-basedaccounting (PBA) approach and a consumption-based emission accounting (CBA) approach. Byconstructing an inter-regional PM2.5 emission transfer matrix, this paper offers a more accurateanalysis of the allocation of emission reduction responsibility amongst the various regions. Themain finding was that there were significant differences in PM2.5 emissions between the regionsand industries in China and Korea; and when calculating the regional responsibility for PM2.5emissions, CBA was the more appropriate method for Korea; while for China, the choice of usingeither the PBA or CBA approach depended on the specific region.

In this paper, the concepts of compatible mappings of types (A) and (P) are introduced in an induced metric space, two common xed point theorems for two pairs of compatible mappings of types (A) and (P) in an induced complete metric space are established. As their applications, the existence and uniqueness results of common solution for a system of functional equations arising in dynamic programming are discussed.

Erasable conductive domain walls in insulating ferroelectric thin films can be used for non-destructive electrical read-out of the polarization states in ferroelectric memories. Still, the domain-wall currents extracted by these devices have not yet reached the intensity and stability required to drive read-out circuits operating at high speeds. This study demonstrated non-destructive read-out of digital data stored using specific domain-wall configurations in epitaxial BiFeO3 thin films formed in mesa-geometry structures. Partially switched domains, which enable the formation of conductive walls during the read operation, spontaneously retract when the read voltage is removed, reducing the accumulation of mobile defects at the domain walls and potentially improving the device stability. Three-terminal memory devices produced 14 nA read currents at an operating voltage of 5 V, and operated up to T = 85 °C. The gap length can also be smaller than the film thickness, allowing the realization of ferroelectric memories with device dimensions far below 100 nm.
