Interference-limited Resource Allocation Algorithm in Cognitive Heterogeneous Networks

( Ling Zhuang ),( Yaohu Yin ),( Juan Guan ),( Xiao Ma ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2018 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.12 No.4

Interference mitigation is a significant issue in the cognitive heterogeneous networks, this paper studied how to reduce the interference to macrocell users (MU) and improve system throughput. Establish the interference model with imperfect spectrum sensing by analyzing the source of interference complexity. Based on the user topology, the optimize problem was built to maximize the downlink throughput under given interference constraint and the total power constraint. We decompose the resource allocation problem into subcarrier allocation and power allocation. In the subcarrier assignment step, the allocated number of subcarriers satisfies the requirement of the femtocell users (FU).Then, we designed the power allocation algorithm based on the Lagrange multiplier method and the improved water filling method. Simulation results and performance analyses show that the proposed algorithm causes less interference to MU than the algorithm without considering imperfect spectrum sensing, and the system achieves better throughput performance.

Avian Leukosis Virus Subgroup J and Reticuloendotheliosis Virus Coinfection Induced TRIM62 Regulation of the Actin Cytoskeleton

        Ling Li,Pingping Zhuang,Ziqiang Cheng,Jie Yang,Jianmin Bi,Guihua Wang 대한수의학회 2020 Journal of Veterinary Science Vol.21 No.3

Background: Coinfection with avian leukosis virus subgroup J (ALV-J) and reticuloendotheliosis virus (REV) is common in chickens, and the molecular mechanism of the synergistic pathogenic effects of the coinfection is not clear. Exosomes have been identified as new players in the pathogenesis of retroviruses. The different functions of exosomes depend on their cargo components. Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the function of co-regulation differentially expressed proteins in exosomes on coinfection of ALV-J and REV. Methods: Here, viral replication in CEF cells infected with ALV-J, REV or both was detected by immunofluorescence microscopy. Then, we analyzed the exosomes isolated from supernatants of chicken embryo fibroblast (CEF) cells single infected and coinfected with ALV-J and REV by mass spectrometry. KEGG pathway enrichment analyzed the co-regulation differentially expressed proteins in exosomes. Next, we silenced and overexpressed tripartite motif containing 62 (TRIM62) to evaluate the effects of TRIM62 on viral replication and the expression levels of NCK-association proteins 1 (NCKAP1) and actin-related 2/3 complex subunit 5 (ARPC5) determined by quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. Results: The results showed that coinfection of ALV-J and REV promoted the replication of each other. Thirty proteins, including TRIM62, NCK-association proteins 1 (NCKAP1, also known as Nap125), and Arp2/3-5, ARPC5, were identified. NCKAP1 and ARPC5 were involved in the actin cytoskeleton pathway. TRIM62 negatively regulated viral replication and that the inhibition of REV was more significant than that on ALV-J in CEF cells coinfected with TRIM62. In addition, TRIM62 decreased the expression of NCKAP1 and increased the expression of ARPC5 in coinfected CEF cells. Conclusions: Collectively, our results indicated that coinfection with ALV-J and REV competitively promoted each other's replication, the actin cytoskeleton played an important role in the coinfection mechanism, and TRIM62 regulated the actin cytoskeleton.

Population-Stratified Analysis of Bone Mineral Density Distribution in Cervical and Lumbar Vertebrae of Chinese from Quantitative Computed Tomography

        Yong Zhang,Zhuang Zhou,Cheng’ai Wu,Danhui Zhao,Chao Wang,Xiaoguang Cheng,Wei Cai,Ling Wang,Yangyang Duanmu,Chenxin Zhang,Wei Tian 대한영상의학회 2016 Korean Journal of Radiology Vol.17 No.5

Objective: To investigate the bone mineral density (BMD) of cervical vertebrae in a population-stratified manner and correlate with that of the lumbar vertebrae. Materials and Methods: Five hundred and ninety-eight healthy volunteers (254 males, 344 females), ranging from 20 to 64 years of age, were recruited for volumetric BMD (vBMD) measurements by quantitative computed tomography. Basic information (age, height, weight, waistline, and hipline), and vBMD of the cervical and lumbar vertebrae (C2–7 and L2–4) were recorded. Comparisons among sex, age groups and different levels of vertebrae were analyzed using analysis of variance. Linear regression was performed for relevance of different vertebral levels. Results: The vBMD of cervical and lumbar vertebrae was higher in females than males in each age group. The vBMD of the cervical and lumbar vertebrae in males and the vBMD of lumbar vertebrae in females decreased with aging. In each age group, the vBMD of the cervical vertebrae was higher than that of the lumbar vertebrae with gradual decreases from C2 to C7 except for C3; moreover, the vBMD of C6 and C7 was significantly different from that of C2–5. Correlations of vBMD among different cervical vertebrae (females: r = 0.62–0.94; males: r = 0.63–0.94) and lumbar vertebrae (males: r = 0.93–0.98; females: r = 0.82–0.97) were statistically significant at each age group. Conclusion: The present study provided normative data of cervical vertebrae in an age- and sex-stratified manner. Sex differences in vBMD prominently vary with age, which can be helpful to design a more comprehensive pre-operative surgical plan.

VDR mediated HSD3B1 to regulate lipid metabolism and promoted testosterone synthesis in mouse Leydig cells

        Xue Zhen,Zhuang Jianan,Bai Hao,Wang Ling,Lu Hongzhao,Wang Shanshan,Zeng Wenxian,Zhang Tao 한국유전학회 2022 Genes & Genomics Vol.44 No.5

Background: The vitamin D receptor (VDR) mediates the pleiotropic biological actions that include osteoporosis, immune responses and androgen synthesis wherein the VDR transcriptionally regulates expression of the genes involved in this complex process. 3β-Hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase-1 (HSD3B1) is an absolutely necessary enzyme for androgen synthesis. Objective: The purpose of the present study was to explore the molecular mechanism of VDR mediated HSD3B1 regulation of lipid metabolism and testosterone synthesis. Methods: The levels of VDR, HSD3B1 and lipid metabolism associated protein were determined by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) or western blot. The levels of testosterone concentrations in cell culture media serum by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Targeted relationship between VDR and Hsd3b1 was evaluated by dual-luciferase reporter assay. Results: Based on the data analysis of mouse testicular proteome, we found that the expression of HSD3B1 was significantly reduced after VDR deletion. Here, we identified that Hsd3b1 was widely expressed in different tissues of mice by RT-qPCR, and was highly expressed in testis, and mainly located in testicular Leydig cells. Dual-luciferase assay confirmed that VDR could bind candidate vitamin D responsive elements (VDREs) in upstream region of Hsd3b1, and enhance gene expression. Furthermore, over-expression VDR and HSD3B1 significantly increased testosterone synthesis in mice Leydig cells. Meanwhile, Lpl expression was significantly down-regulated and Angptl4 expression was significantly up-regulated in the present of HSD3B1 overexpression. Both LPL and ANGPTL4 play important roles in regulating lipid metabolism. Conclusions: The present study unveiled VDR mediated HSD3B1 to regulate lipid metabolism and promoted testosterone synthesis in mouse Leydig cells. These findings will greatly help us to understand the roles of VDR and HSD3B1 in testosterone synthesis and lipid metabolism.

      • Using Color Composition Diagrams as a Medium for Promoting Better-balanced Diet

        Yao Dai,Yi-Lin Zhuang,Nan-Ling Yeh,Jun Pana,I-Ping Chen 한국색채학회 2017 AIC 2017 Jeju Vol.2017 No.10

We aim to design an App that helps people establish an increased awareness on their daily diet in a highly playful manner. The core concept of this App is to use color information of food photographs people take before meals to give users feedback on how to balance their diets. A healthy food and an unhealthy food color template were created through the following process: using the guideline provided by WHO (World Health Organization), we collected thousands of images of healthy and unhealthy food. The collective color attributes (hue composition, weights of redness, greenness, yellowness, and blueness, average luminance, general contrast) of each of the two groups were derived to render a visualizable color composition template. This way, all the incoming food pictures taken by the user can be compared to the healthy and the unhealthy template. Instead of informing the user ‘You should take more protein.’, our App gives feedback like ‘Maybe you should try more RED.’ Our user experience assessment shows that users enjoy playing with such graphic interface and will potentially pay more attention to their daily diets.

Experimental Evaluation of Effect Factors on Seismic Performance of Concrete Columns Reinforced with HTRB630 High-Strength Steel Bars

Chuanzhi Sun,Mei-Ling Zhuang,Bo Dong 한국콘크리트학회 2022 International Journal of Concrete Structures and M Vol.16 No.6

HTRB630 steel bar is a new type of high-strength steel bars. To study the seismic performance and promote the application of concrete columns reinforced with HTRB630 high-strength steel bars, the pseudo-static test of 10 concrete columns reinforced with HTRB630 high-strength steel bars and 3 concrete columns reinforced with HRB400 was carried out. Test specimens were divided into five categories according to concrete grade, reinforcement strength, and degree of confinement. The effect of concrete strength (C45 and C60), axial load ratio (0.1 and 0.25), equal strength substitution of longitudinal reinforcements (HTRB630 and HRB400), equal strength and volume substitution of stirrups (HTRB630 and HRB400), equal strength substitution of confined reinforcements (HTRB630 and HRB400) on the seismic performance are analyzed and discussed from the failure mode, hysteresis loops, skeleton curves, lateral strength, ductility, energy dissipation capacity, stiffness and strength degradation. The failure mode of each specimen was bending failure. Reducing of the axial lo ratio or increasing the strength of reinforcements, the seismic performance of the specimen could be improved. C60 concrete can improve the seismic performance of HTRB630 reinforced columns. The lateral strength of the concrete column specimen with HTRB630 reinforcements was slightly increased, and the ductility and energy dissipation capacity were reduced, the stiffness degradation was more gradual, the strength degradation coefficient was greater than 0.94, but still met the requirements of the code for seismic design of buildings (GB50011-2010).

In Vivo Assessment of Neurodegeneration in Type C Niemann-Pick Disease by IDEAL-IQ

        Ruo-Mi Guo,Qing-Ling Li,Zhong-Xing Luo,Wen Tang,Ju Jiao,Jin Wang,Zhuang Kang,Shao-Qiong Chen,Yong Zhang 대한영상의학회 2018 Korean Journal of Radiology Vol.19 No.1

Objective: To noninvasively assess the neurodegenerative changes in the brain of patients with Niemann-Pick type C (NPC) disease by measuring the lesion tissue with the iterative decomposition of water and fat with echo asymmetry and least square estimation-iron quantification (IDEAL-IQ). Materials and Methods: Routine brain MRI, IDEAL-IQ and 1H-proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H-MRS, served as control) were performed on 12 patients with type C Niemann-Pick disease (4 males and 8 females; age range, 15−61 years; mean age, 36 years) and 20 healthy subjects (10 males and 10 females; age range, 20−65 years; mean age, 38 years). The regions with lesion and the normal appearing regions (NARs) of patients were measured and analyzed based on the fat/water signal intensity on IDEAL-IQ and the lipid peak on 1H-MRS. Results: Niemann-Pick type C patients showed a higher fat/water signal intensity ratio with IDEAL-IQ on T2 hyperintensity lesions and NARs (3.7−4.9%, p < 0.05 and 1.8−3.0%, p < 0.05, respectively), as compared to healthy controls (HCs) (1.2−2.3%). After treatment, the fat/water signal intensity ratio decreased (2.2−3.4%), but remained higher than in the HCs (p < 0.05). The results of the 1H-MRS measurements showed increased lipid peaks in the same lesion regions, and the micro-lipid storage disorder of NARs in NPC patients was detectable by IDEAL-IQ instead of 1H-MRS. Conclusion: The findings of this study suggested that IDEAL-IQ may be useful as a noninvasive and objective method in the evaluation of patients with NPC; additionally, IDEAL-IQ can be used to quantitatively measure the brain parenchymal adipose content and monitor patient follow-up after treatment of NPC.

Tensile Test and Numerical Simulation Investigations on the Mechanical Properties of a New Type of Slightly Curved Arc HRB400 Steel Bars in Mass Concrete

        Li Gao,Mei-Ling Zhuang,Fangzhi Zhu,Chuanzhi Sun,Jun Yang 한국콘크리트학회 2023 International Journal of Concrete Structures and M Vol.17 No.5

The temperature stress in mass concrete structure is relatively high during construction, which usually leads to temperature cracks. To solve this problem, concrete blocks are usually placed by setting wide slots. Connecting the truncated steel bars at the position of the wide slots by welding or extruding sleeves has many disadvantages. To solve the problem of temperature-induced stress loss, a new type of slightly curved arc HRB400 (SCAHRB400) steel bars was proposed without cutting off the steel bars in this article. Tensile tests and numerical simulations were performed for five types of SCAHRB400 steel bars considering geometric and material nonlinearity. Based on the test results and numerical simulation results, the equivalent stress–strain relationships of SCAHRB400 steel bars were established, and the emergence of the plastic zone of SCAHRB400 steel bars in the tensile process were observed, the tensile properties of SCAHRB400 steel bars were analyzed and discussed. The test results indicate that SCAHRB400 steel bars are prone to local yielding near the crown of large arches and at the connection of horizontal and arc sections. The numerical simulation equivalent stress–strain curves have good regularity. The equivalent stress–strain curves of slightly curved arc HRB400 and HRB335 steel bars have the similar changing law. When the stress is small, the tensile stiffness and compressive axial stiffness of slightly curved arc HRB400 and HRB335 steel bars are similar; when the stress is large, the axial stiffness of SCAHRB400 steel bars is greater than that of slight curved arc HRB335 steel bars. Through test and numerical simulation studies, the theoretical basis can be established for the engineering application of new slightly curved arc steel bars in mass concrete.

Auricular acupressure promotes uterine involution after cesarean section: A randomized controlled trial

        Shu-xin Wang,Jing-chun Zeng,Ting Li,Wan-lan Zhang,Yan-fang Li,Run-jin Zhou,Zi-jun Liu,Yu-ling Liu,Xun Zhuang,Rui Zhang,Li-ming Lu,Guo-hua Lin 한국한의학연구원 2021 Integrative Medicine Research Vol.10 No.3

Background: Postpartum subinvolution of the uterus is a more common condition after cesarean section. Auricular acupressure (AA) is widely used for the treatment of postpartum diseases. However, few studies have explored the effects of AA as a treatment of uterine involution following cesarean section to date. This study aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of AA for uterine involution after cesarean section. Methods: A total of 109 women who underwent cesarean section participated in this study. They were randomly allocated to either real AA or sham AA in a 1:1 ratio by a computer program. For 3 days, the real AA and sham AA groups received treatment 3 times daily. A series of assessments at 42 days after cesarean section, namely on the uterine size, the incidence of hydrometra, the first anal exsufflation time, bleeding volume at 6 hours, bleeding volume at 6–24 hours along with other general assessments were carried out. Results: A total of 89 women completed the study. The uterine size at 42 days after a cesarean section was 6.3 cm smaller in the real AA group than in the sham AA group (P < 0.01). The incidence of hydrometra on day 42 postpartum was lower in the real AA group than in the sham AA group (P < 0.01). The lochia duration and the first anal exsufflation time after cesarean section were shorter in the real AA group than in the sham AA group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: AA improves uterine involution after cesarean section. Trial registration: ChiCTR1800015569.
