        Preparation and Thermal Performance of Fullerene-Based Lead Salt

        $C_{60}$ is widely investigated because of its unique structure. But its applications in solid propellant seem to be relatively neglected. $C_{60}$ has more outstanding features than carbon black which is widely used as a catalyst ingredient of solid propellant. To combine the advantages of fullerene and lead salts, another good composite in propellant catalysts, we synthesized a kind of fullerene phenylalanine lead salt (FPL) and explored its thermal performances by differential thermal analysis (DTA) and thermogravimetry analysis (TGA). The results show it undergoes four exothermic processes started from 408 K. Combined TGA and X-ray diffractometer (XRD), the decomposition mechanism of FPL was derived by TG-IR and comparing IR spectra of FPL and its residues after burned to $327^{\circ}C$, $376^{\circ}C$ and $424^{\circ}C$, respectively. Effect of FPL on the decomposition characteristic of hexogen (RDX), a type of explosive in propellant, has been investigated using DTA at different heating rate, which shows the decomposition temperatures of the explosive are all reduced by more than 20 K. The corresponding activation energy ($E_a$) is decreased by $30kJ{\cdot}mol^{-1}$. So FPL has potential application as a combustion catalyst in solid propellant.

        Compounds from a jellyfish-derived fungus Aspergillus fumigates

        Six compounds were isolated from the secondary metabolites of the jellyfish-derived fungus Aspergillus fumigates, whose structures were identified by chemical methods and spectroscopic analysis as pseurotin F1 (1), azaspirofurans B (2), (22E, 24R)-24-methyl-5a-cholesta-7,22-diene-3b,5,6b-triol (3), 5a,8a-epidioxyergosta-6,22-dien-3b-o1 (4), cyclo-(L-Pro-L-Tyr) (5), fumitremorgin C (6). The compounds 1 - 5 were isolated from the fungus Aspergillus fumigates for the first time. The isolated compounds (1 - 6) were evaluated for antibiotic activity and cytotoxicity against six bacterial strains and ten human tumor cell lines, respectively.

      • Coordinated Secondary Control for Balanced Discharge Rate of Energy Storage System in Islanded Microgrids

        A coordinated secondary control based on a novel autonomous currents sharing control strategy for balanced discharge rate of energy storage systems in islanded microgrid (MG) is proposed in this paper. The coordinated secondary controller is able to regulate the output power of distributed generating (DG) systems according to their state-of-charge by adjusting the virtual resistances of their voltage controlled inverters. This controller can not only provide the faster response and accurate output current sharing control, but also avoid the potential operation failure resulting from the over current and unintentional outage of DGs. Thus, the stability and reliability of islanded MG can be improved. The eigenvalues and root locus with the proposed controller are presented to design the parameters as well as analyzing the system stability. Simulation results based on Matlab/simulink are presented in order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed controller.

        Prey instar preference and functional responses of Mallada basalis (Walker) (Neuroptera: Chrysopidae) to different life stages of Phenacoccus solenopsis Tinsley (Hemiptera: Pseudococcidae)

        Prey instar preference and functional responses of 2- and 3-instar Mallada basalis (Walker) (Neuroptera: Chrysopidae) larvae to 1- to 3-instar Phenacoccus solenopsis Tinsley (Hemiptera: Pseudococcidae) nymphs and adults were assessed in laboratory. Results indicated that both 2- and 3-instar M. basalis larvae preferred young over old P. solenopsis nymphs and adults were the least preferred. The 3-instar M. basalis larvae preyed more adult P. solenopsis than 2-instar larvae. Mallada basalis exhibited type II functional responses to prey densities: An increase in prey density leads to an increase in consumed preys. Regardless of P. solenopsis stages, the number of preys consumed by the 3-instar M. basalis larvae was greater than that by the 2-instar larvae. Attack rates and handling times differed depending on prey and predator stage combinations. The highest attack rate (1.1874) and lowest handling time (0.0040 h) were observed for the 3-instar M. basalis larvae fed on the 1-instar P. solenopsis nymphs. Regardless of P. solenopsis stages, the attack rate of 3-instar M. basalis was greater than 2-instar, whereas the reverse held regarding handling time. The findings collectively indicated that 3-instar M. basalis larvae have greater potential than 2-instar as efficient biological control agent of P. solenopsis. In developing real world biological control programs, however, the 2-instar M. basalis may be released if necessary since the final efficacy of the predator is the summation of the 2- and 3-instar M. basalis.

        Epigenetic silencing of UBXN8 contributes to leukemogenesis in t(8;21) acute myeloid leukemia

        The formation of the RUNX1-RUNX1T1 fusion protein, resulting from the t(8;21) translocation, is considered to be one of the initiating events of t(8;21) acute myeloid leukemia (AML). However, the mechanisms of the oncogenic mechanism of RUNX1- RUNX1T1 remain unclear. In this study, we found that RUNX1-RUNX1T1 triggers the heterochromatic silencing of UBXN8 by recognizing the RUNX1-binding sites and recruiting chromatin-remodeling enzymes to the UBXN8 promoter region. Decitabine, a specific inhibitor of DNA methylation, upregulated the expression of UBXN8 in RUNX1-RUNX1T1+ AML cell lines. Overexpression of UBXN8 inhibited the proliferation and colony-forming ability of and promoted cell cycle arrest in t(8;21) AML cell lines. Enhancing UBXN8 levels can significantly inhibit tumor proliferation and promote the differentiation of RUNX1-RUNX1T1+ cells in vivo. In conclusion, our results indicated that epigenetic silencing of UBXN8 via methylation of its promoter region mediated by the RUNX1- RUNX1T1 fusion protein contributes to the leukemogenesis of t(8;21) AML and that UBXN8 targeting may be a potential therapeutic strategy for t(8;21) AML.         Wide-range Wavelength-tunable RCLEDs

        A tunable oxide-confined AlGaAs/GaAs resonant-cavity light-emitting diode (RCLED) with a wide-range tuning wavelength was demonstrated. A quarter-wave stack as a movable Microelectronic system (MEMS)-bridge was used and realized a 27 nm tuning range from a resonance of 972 nm to 945 nm and the corresponding bias between the top bridge and the bottom mirror increased from 0 - 23 V. The tuning efficiency of δλ/λ<SUB>0</SUB> reached 2.8%. The spectral and the mechanical characteristics of the MEMS-tunable RCLED are also discussed, and the photon lifetime in the FP cavity was modulated in period by the bridge displacement.

      • A Study of Consumer Preference among Different Patterns and Color Collocations

        This research topic focuses on how products designed utilizing the digital inject printing technology will affect consumers" purchasing intention and behavior. Digital inject printing is a revolutionary innovation of fabric printing technology in the textile manufacturing process; through this process, the data can be utilized to monitor the textile printing quality; and to overcome the traditional fabric printing limitation. This research used 12 pictures featuring product designs in different styles and colors to analyze how customers will favor each one of the different combinations. Based on the 12 pictures, we will verify what the preferred interviewee"s characteristics are. The results show that interviewees whose older age, higher monthly income, and greater monthly disposable income had a distinct preference in images of classic and modem designs in bright, cool/warm color mixing; meanwhile, these interviewees signify their preference of silky, soft and smooth hand-felt material. Other interviewees" preferences were also discussed in the article. This research finding concerning product designs of styles and colors represent some important information about the future of new product development regarding the application of innovative digital inject printing technology.

        Interference-limited Resource Allocation Algorithm in Cognitive Heterogeneous Networks

        Interference mitigation is a significant issue in the cognitive heterogeneous networks, this paper studied how to reduce the interference to macrocell users (MU) and improve system throughput. Establish the interference model with imperfect spectrum sensing by analyzing the source of interference complexity. Based on the user topology, the optimize problem was built to maximize the downlink throughput under given interference constraint and the total power constraint. We decompose the resource allocation problem into subcarrier allocation and power allocation. In the subcarrier assignment step, the allocated number of subcarriers satisfies the requirement of the femtocell users (FU).Then, we designed the power allocation algorithm based on the Lagrange multiplier method and the improved water filling method. Simulation results and performance analyses show that the proposed algorithm causes less interference to MU than the algorithm without considering imperfect spectrum sensing, and the system achieves better throughput performance.
