      • Enhanced antitumor immunotherapeutic effect of B-cell-based vaccine transduced with modified adenoviral vector containing type 35 fiber structures

        Kim, E-K,Seo, H-S,Chae, M-J,Jeon, I-S,Song, B-Y,Park, Y-J,Ahn, H M,Yun, C-O,Kang, C-Y Macmillan Publishers Limited 2014 Gene therapy Vol.21 No.1

For successful clinical tumor immunotherapy outcomes, strong immune responses against tumor antigens must be generated. Cell-based vaccines compromise one strategy with which to induce appropriate strong immune responses. Previously, we established a natural killer T-cell (NKT) ligand-loaded, adenoviral vector-transduced B-cell-based anticancer cellular vaccine. To enhance tumor antigen delivery to B cells, we established a modified adenoviral vector (Ad-k35) that encoded a truncated form of the breast cancer antigen Her2/neu (Ad-k35HM) in which fiber structure was substituted with adenovirus serotype 35. We observed increased tumor antigen expression with Ad-k35HM in both human and murine B cells. In addition, an Ad-k35HM-transduced B-cell vaccine elicited strong antigen-specific cellular and humoral immune responses that were further enhanced with the additional loading of soluble NKT ligand KBC009. An Ad-k35HM-transduced, KBC009-loaded B-cell vaccine efficiently suppressed the in vivo growth of established tumors in a mouse model. Moreover, the vaccine elicited human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-A2 epitope-specific cytotoxic T-cell responses in B6.Cg (CB)-Tg (HLA-A/H2-D) 2Enge/Jat mice. These findings indicated that the Ad-k35 could be appropriate for the preclinical and clinical development of B-cell-based anticancer immunotherapies.

      • Microstructure and piezoelectric properties of (Na0.5K0.5)NbO3 lead-free piezoelectric ceramics with V2O5 addition

        Seo, I.-T.,Park, H.-Y.,Dung, N.V.,Choi, M.-K.,Nahm, S.,Lee, H.-G.,Choi, B.-H. IEEE 2009 and Frequency Control Vol.56 No.11

<P>Various amounts of Nb2O5 in the (Na0.5K0.5) NbO3 (NKN) ceramic were replaced by V2O5 to decrease its sintering temperature to below 950°C. A small V2O5 content resulted in a dense microstructure with an increased grain size for the specimen sintered at 900°C due to the presence of a liquid phase. When V2O5 was added to the NKN ceramics, their orthorhombic-to-tetragonal transition temperature increased from 178°C to around 200°C. However, their Curie temperature decreased from 402°C to around 330°C. The kp, ε3 T/ε0, and Qm values increased with V2O5 addition, probably due to the increased density and poling state, which was identified by the phase angle. The specimen with x = 0.05, sintered at 900°C for 8 h, exhibited the following piezoelectric properties: kp = 0.32, ε3 T/ε0 = 245, d33 = 120 (pC/N), and Qm = 232.</P>

        닭의 동품종내 계통간 잡종강세 이용시험

        박상문,김동곤,송기덕,오봉국 한국축산학회 1965 한국축산학회지 Vol.7 No.1

To induce hybrid vigor by the reciprocal crossing with SWL (Sung Whan Line), MWL (Minnesota Line), AWL (Dembro Line) and BWL (Derby Line) of single comb white leghorn, 1,330 hens were divided into 16 blacks (Diallal cross with four Line) and fed under condition of N.R.C. feeding standard. In this experiment, hatchability, fertility, mortality, body weight, days required on up to first egg laying date, egg weight, egg quality, winter pauses, intensity, feed utilization, number of eggs layed during the testing period of days and brooding were investigated. Cross breeds showed a little higher fertility and hatchability but there were no significance when their parents had high hatchability. Cross breeds M♀×A♂, M♀×E♂ and A♀×S♂ showed more than ½ decrease in mortality, however cross bred hen showed 2.27% more decrease in mortality than purebreeds. Cross breeds of 6 blocks among 16 blocks at 6 weeks showed significant (P$lt;0.01) difference in body weight. Heaviest cross breed among all blocks were S♀×A♂ and A♀×S♂. Generally adult cross breeds showed heaviest body weight; especially in S♀×A♂ and A♀×S♂ cross breeds showed heaviest body weight among them. Dates requiring on up to first egg laying (50% laying date in the blocks) were showen at cross breeds. Cross breeds shorten 16.42 days than purebreeds and A♀×M♂ was showed shortest clay (171.0 days) in all cross breeds. ♀M×A♂ (175.0 days) and M♀×B♂ (175.0 days) were excellent. Cross breed showed increased egg weight as follows : A♀×S♂ 56.0 g, B♀×M♂ 56.62 g B♀×A♂ 57.40 g and there was significant (P$lt;0.05) difference in egg weight between pure breed and cross breed (M♀×S♂ and B♀×A♂), However, their egg weight was same one as standard (56.0 g) Generally productive block showed light egg weight, because egg weight are related to egg production, Those eggs didn't show any progress in thickness, meat and blood spot. Winter pauses became more short and intensity was more higher than purebreeds. They produced more eggs during winter than purebreeds. Feed utilization was very high in cross breeds. than in purebreeds. The number of egg at 500 days testing period (Hen house) was M♀×B♂ : 201,08, S♀×B♂ : 200.73, B♀×S♂ : 200.21, M♀×S♂ : 197.28 and M♀×A♂ : 191.69 and number of egg per hen in the block was from 230 to 256 in a year. SWL and BWL cross was very excellent in any condition. Generally, we could say that the number of egg was increased by crossing and it showed at 1% level of significance, but cross breeds increased broodiness about 0.56% than did in pure breeds.

Overview of KSTAR research progress and future plans toward ITER and K-DEMO

        Park, H.K.,Choi, M.J.,Hong, S.H.,In, Y.,Jeon, Y.M.,Ko, J.S.,Ko, W.H.,Kwak, J.G.,Kwon, J.M.,Lee, J.,Lee, J.H.,Lee, W.,Nam, Y.B.,Oh, Y.K.,Park, B.H.,Park, J.K.,Park, Y.S.,Wang, S.J.,Yoo, M.,Yoon, S.W.,B IOP 2019 Nuclear fusion Vol.59 No.11

<P>A decade-long operation of the Korean Superconducting Tokamak Advanced Research (KSTAR) has contributed significantly to the operation of superconducting tokamak devices and the advancement of tokamak physics which will be beneficial for the ITER and K-DEMO programs. Even with limited heating capability, various conventional as well as new operating regimes have been explored and have achieved improved performance. As examples, a long pulse high-confinement mode operation with and without an edge-localized mode (ELM) crash was well over 70 and 30 s, respectively. The unique capabilities of KSTAR allowed it to improve the capability of controlling harmful instabilities, and they have been instrumental in uncovering much new physics. The highlights are that the L/H transition threshold power is sensitive to the resonant magnetic perturbation (RMP) and insensitive to non-resonant magnetic perturbation. Co-<I>I</I> p offset rotation dominated by an electron channel predicted by general neoclassical toroidal viscosity theory was confirmed. Improved heat dispersal in a divertor system using three rows of rotating RMP was demonstrated and predictive control of the ELM-crash with <I>a priori</I> modeling was successfully tested. In magnetohydrodynamic physics, validation of the full reconnection model (i.e. <I>q</I> 0  >  1 right after the sawtooth crash) and self-consistent validation of the anisotropic distribution of turbulence amplitude and flow in the presence of the 2/1 island with theoretical models were achieved. The turbulence amplitude induced by RMP was linearly increased with the slow RMP coil current ramp-up time (i.e. the magnetic diffusion time scale). The <I>D</I> <I>α</I> spikes (i.e. ELM-crash amplitude) was linearly decreased with the turbulence amplitude and not correlated with the perpendicular electron flow. In the turbulence area, a non-diffusive ‘avalanche’ transport event and the role of a quiescent coherent mode in confinement were studied. To accommodate the anticipation of a higher performance of the KSTAR plasmas with the increased heating powers, a new divertor/internal interface with a full active cooling system will be implemented after a full test of the new heating (neutral beam injection II and electron cyclotron heating) and current drive (CD) (Helicon and lower hybrid CD) systems. An upgrade plan for the internal hardware, heating systems and efficient CD system may allow for a long pulse operation of higher performance plasmas at <I>β</I> N  >  3.0 with <I>f</I> bs ~ 0.5 and <I>T</I> i  >  10 keV.</P>

Study on the Increase of Egg Weight and Early Selection based on Part Record in Layer

        Park, Y.H.,Ohh, B. K. The Korean Society of Poultry Science 1983 韓國家禽學會誌 Vol.10 No.2

The records on 787 white Leghorn hens from two different strains, A and K were wed in this study to find out the pattern of increase in egg weight with age and the optimum age of early selection for maximizing the genetic gain. The pattern of increase in egg weight with age in two lines which was expressed on graph showed that the amount of increase was larger in the early part of the laying year and it decreased gradually. Regression equations suggested that egg weight increased linearly with age at the rate of 0.46 gram per week for line A and 0.83 gram for line K. And in the regression analyses of each period mean egg weight on annual mean egg weight, the coefficients of EW 30 that is mean egg weight from 29 weeks of age to 32 weeks of age were 0.86 for line A, 0.88 for line K, and those were the highest figures among the all regression coefficients of each mean egg weight on annual mean egg weight. In estimating the relative selection efficiency of each period mean egg weight on annual mean egg weight in EW 46, selection on EW 34 for line A and on EW 30 for line K was the most efficient for improving egg weight. These results suggested that one periods from 29 weeks of age to 36 weeks of age could be used for the best predictable time for improving annual mean egg weight.
