        The Localization Effect of Online Advertising: An Evidence from the Movie Market

        This study introduces a novel deep learning-based framework designed to evaluate the impact of localization in online advertising within the film industry. Particularly, the authors consider movie poster images as an advertising tool. Employing an image-based deep learning technique, the study extracts and quantifies visual information to assess poster localization levels. Then, we estimate the effect of poster localization on the movie’s financial performance in a foreign market. The results reveal that the localization effect follows the U-shaped curve, implying that the relevant level of poster localization should be in two ways: either fully non-localized or extremely localized. We expect this research to contribute by proposing the empirical framework to not only explore the effect of online advertising in the service business, but also assess the effect of the international advertising strategy from the perspective of the movie poster localization. Moreover, we posit that this research has managerial implications in the sense that it can contribute to the decision-making process of the relevant level of localization and poster image modification.

        한국 대기업 내 교육훈련특성, 전이동기, 학습전이와의 관계에서 업무성과-보상 기대가 미치는 조절된 매개효과 연구

        본 연구의 목적은 국내 기업의 학습전이 제고를 위해 교육훈련특성(전이촉진적 교육방법, 교육내용의 업무 연계성), 전이동기, 학습전이의 관계에서 업무성과-보상 기대가 갖는 역할을 규명하는 것이다. 연구목적을 달성하기 위해 H 그룹에서 교육훈련을 이수한 610명의 직원들을 유의표집하여 교육종료 3개월 후 설문조사로 자료를 수집하였고, SPSS PROCESS MACRO를 활용하여 조절된 매개모형을 분석하였다. 분석 결과 첫째, 전이촉진적 교육방법과 교육내용의 업무 연계성은 전이동기와 정(+)적인 관계가 있었다. 둘째, 전이동기는 학습전이와 정(+)적인 관계가 있었다. 셋째, 업무성과-보상 기대는 전이촉진적 교육방법과 전이동기의 관계를 조절했으나 교육내용의 업무연계성과 전이동기의 관계는 조절하지 않았다. 넷째, 교육훈련특성, 전이동기, 학습전이의 관계에서 업무성과-보상 기대의 조절된 매개효과는 나타나지 않았다. 연구결과를 토대로 인적자원개발 관점에서 학습전이를 높이기 위한 실천 및 연구 측면의 시사점을 제공하였다. The purpose of the current study was to identify the role of performance-outcome expectation on the relationships among training characteristics (transfer design, content validity), motivation to transfer, and learning transfer. Using the purposive sampling approach, we collected quantitative data via an electronic survey from 610 employees of H conglomerate in South Korea who had completed a training program at least 3 months before the data collection. We utilized SPSS PROCESS MACRO to analyze the hypothesized mediated moderation effects in our research model. As a result, we found the followings: (1) transfer design and content validity had positive relationships with motivation to transfer, respectively; (2) motivation to transfer had a positive relationship with learning transfer; (3) performance-outcome expectation moderated the relationship between transfer design and motivation to transfer, but did not between content validity and motivation to transfer; and (4) there were no mediated moderation effects on the relationships among training characteristics, motivation to transfer, and learning transfer. Based on the results, we provided implications for HRD in the practice and research area to improve learning transfer in companies.

        IPA기법을 활용한 골프장의 물리적, 사회적 서비스스케이프에 대한 중요도와 만족도 차이분석: 해석수준이론을 중심으로

        본 연구는 골프장의 물리적, 사회적 서비스스케이프의 중요도와 만족도에 대한 고객의 평가가 골프에 대한 해석수준(사회적 거리감)에 따라 어떠한 차이가 있는 지 알아보는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 골프장 방문경험이 있는 고객을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여 총 328부를 최종 분석에 이용하였다. SPSS 23.0, AMOS 21.0을 활용하여, 기술통계분석, 신뢰도 분석, 확인적 요인분석, 타당도 분석, 대응표본 t-검정 및 IPA 분석을 실시하여 다음의 결과를 도출하였다. 첫째, 해석수준에 따라서 골프장의 물리적, 사회적 서비스스케이프에 대한 중요도와 만족도 인지에 차이가 있었다. 구체적으로 사회적 거리감이 먼 집단은 공간성, 심미성, 청결성, 편의성, 프론트 직원 친절도, 캐디 친절도, 캐디 이미지가 Ⅰ사분면에 해당하는 것으로 나타났으며, 사회적 거리감이 가까운 집단의 경우 프론트 직원 이미지가 추가적으로 포함되어 나타났다. 둘째, Ⅱ사분면에는 두 집단 모두 해당하는 요인이 없는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 거리감이 먼 집단은 다른 고객과 유사성, 다른 고객 외모가 Ⅲ사분면에 해당하였으며, 거리감이 가까운 집단은 쾌적성이 추가적으로 포함되어 나타났다. 마지막으로, 거리감이 먼 집단은 쾌적성, 프론트 직원 이미지가 Ⅳ사분면에 해당하였으나, 거리감이 가까운 집단은 해당하는 요인이 없는 것으로 나타났다. The purpose of the current study was to analyze how golf club customers’ assessments of the importance and performance of the servicescape factors differs as a function of construal level (i.e., social distance). The final sample consisted of 328 participants who have previously visited a golf club. Data analyses were conducted through descriptive statistical analysis, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), reliability analysis, validity analysis, paired t-test and importance-performance analysis (IPA) by utilizing SPSS 23.0 and AMOS 21.0 statistical packages. The results indicated that, first, assessments of the importance and performance of the physical and social servicescapes of golf clubs differed depending on the perceived social distance. Specifically, the first quadrant of the IPA matrix included the servicescape factors of space, aesthetics, cleanliness, convenience, front staff kindness, caddy kindness, and caddy image for customers who perceived a far social distance, whereas for customers who perceived a close social distance, the additional servicescape factor of front staff image was included. Second, none of the servicescape factors were categorized into the second quadrant for both groups. Third, the third quadrant included customer similarity and customer appearance for the far social distance group, whereas for the close social distance group, comfort, customer similarity, and customer appearance were included. Lastly, the fourth quadrant included comfort and front staff image for the far social distance group, while no factors were included for the close social distance group.

      • Improvement of systemic inflammation by the use of ustekinumab in moderate to severe psoriasis: Measured by 18FDG positron emission tomography- computed tomography

        Background: Ustekinumab has established a favorable benefit-risk profile for moderate to severe chronic plaque psoriasis, but little is known about its efficacy on the comorbidities especially systemic inflammation.Objectives: To evaluate the efficacy of ustekinumab for systemic and vascular inflammation of patients with moderate to severe psoriasis by by [18F]- fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography-computed tomography (18FDGPET/CT). Methods: Moderate to severe psoriasis patients were evaluated with 18FDG PET/CT before ustekinumab treatment and after achieving PASI75 with ustekinumab. FDG uptake in the liver, spleen and 5 segments of aorta was evaluated by calculating the maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax). Results: Eleven patients with psoriasis were enrolled in this study (6 males, 5 females; mean age, 41.5 years).In accordance with clinical improvement in psoriatic skin lesions, images on subsequent 18FDG PET/CT scan revealed an appreciable decrease in FDG uptake in the liver, spleen and aorta. Conclusion: This study suggests that treatment ustekinumab is effective in reducing systemic and vascular inflammation accompanied with moderate to severe psoriasis. We also show the usefulness of 18 FDG PET/CT to monitor whole-body inflammation during psoriasis treatment.

      • Improvement in Front-Contact Resistance and Interface Passivation of Heterojunction Amorphous/Crystalline Silicon Solar Cell by Hydrogen-Diluted Stacked Emitter

        <P>In heterojunction silicon solar cells (HJ-SCs), there is a possibility to reduce contact resistance at the front electrode by using a high-conductivity (sigma(d)) emitter. A hydrogen bonding configuration in the doped layers shows an increase in defect density with the doping, although the doping increases sigma(d) within a certain limit. Hence, a two-layer stacked emitter was used: one with a higher sigma(d) and the other with a reduced defect density. he emitter was stacked as a 3-nm-thick 3% doped (p2) layer with 7-nm-thick 0.5% doped (p1) double layer. A higher hydrogenation of the p2 layer showed better device performance, as it reduces series resistance from 2.4 to 1.5 Omega.cm(2). Furthermore, the carrier lifetime measurement, the atomic distribution across various layers, and the high-resolution transmission electron microscopy images show that the higher hydrogenation of the p2 layer might also have improved the a-Si: H/c-Si interface passivation, consequently improving the open-circuit voltage (V-oc) and efficiency (eta) of the HJ-SCs. The experimental results were found to be consistent with simulation results. Finally, the HJ-SCs with the hydrogen diluted p2.p1 stacked emitter show V-oc of 710 mV, fill factor of 75.43%, and eta close to 21%.</P>

        Rapid-to-deploy reconfigurable wireless structural monitoring systems using extended-range

        Wireless structural monitoring systems consist of networks of wireless sensors installed to record the loading environment and corresponding response of large-scale civil structures. Wireless monitoring systems are desirable because they eliminate the need for costly and labor intensive installation of coaxial wiring in a structure. However, another advantageous characteristic of wireless sensors is their installation modularity. For example, wireless sensors can be easily and rapidly removed and reinstalled in new locations on a structure if the need arises. In this study, the reconfiguration of a rapid-to-deploy wireless structural monitoring system is proposed for monitoring short- and medium-span highway bridges. Narada wireless sensor nodes using power amplified radios are adopted to achieve long communication ranges. A network of twenty Narada wireless sensors is installed on the Yeondae Bridge (Korea) to measure the global response of the bridge to controlled truck loadings. To attain acceleration measurements in a large number of locations on the bridge, the wireless monitoring system is installed three times, with each installation concentrating sensors in one localized area of the bridge. Analysis of measurement data after installation of the three monitoring system configurations leads to reliable estimation of the bridge modal properties, including mode shapes.

        Development and full-scale dynamic test of a combined system of heterogeneous laser sensors for structural displacement measurement

        <P>The displacement responses of civil structures reveal the overall state of the structures and consist of two distinctive dynamic behaviors: pseudo-static deflection and structural vibration. In this study, a dynamic displacement estimation system is developed by integrating a laser Doppler vibrometer (LDV) and terrestrial laser scanner (TLS). The TLS displacement data contaminated with high noise and measured with a low sampling rate is converted to high sampling rate dynamic displacements including the pseudo-static motion by fusing with the velocity data measured by the LDV which are at a high sampling rate but miss the pseudo-static components.</P>

        <P>The photoluminescence behavior of CdS quantum dots in initial growth stage was studied in connection with an annealing process. Compared to the as-synthesized CdS quantum dots (quantum efficiency ≅ 1%), the heat-treated sample showed enhanced luminescence properties (quantum efficiency ≅ 29%) with a narrow band-edge emission. The simple annealing process diminished the accumulated defect states within the nanoparticles and thereby reduced the nonradiative recombination, which was confirmed by diffraction, absorption, and time-resolved photoluminescence. Consequently, the highly luminescent and defect-free nanoparticles were obtained by a facile and straightforward process.</P>

      • A Voice Activity Detection System Based on FPGA

        In this paper, we present a FPGA-based voice activity detection system. DoV (Degree of Voicing) and QSNR (Quantile Signal-to-Noise Ratio) are used as parameters of the VAD algorithm of the proposed system. All VAD system functions are implemented using a dedicated parallel architecture, including signal capturing, DoV processing module and QSNR processing module. The system uses several DPRAMs (Dual Port RAMs) inside the FPGA as parallel buffers in which speech data and the intermediate result are stored, to speed up processing. The functional modules process data in parallel using those buffers. The sampling rate of the proposed system is 16 KHz, and the resolution of each sample is 16 bits. The system can generate the VAD result every 15 ms. The proposed system can be used in speech processing such as speech coding and speech recognition.

        Immunotherapy has revolutionized and opened a new paradigm for cancer treatment. In the era of immunotherapy and molecular targeted therapy, precision medicine has gained emphasis, and an early response assessment is a key element of this approach. Treatment response assessment for immunotherapy is challenging for radiologists because of the rapid development of immunotherapeutic agents, from immune checkpoint inhibitors to chimeric antigen receptor-T cells, with which many radiologists may not be familiar, and the atypical responses to therapy, such as pseudoprogression and hyperprogression. Therefore, new response assessment methods such as immune response assessment, functional/molecular imaging biomarkers, and artificial intelligence (including radiomics and machine learning approaches) have been developed and investigated. Radiologists should be aware of recent trends in immunotherapy development and new response assessment methods.
