      • 태산반석산이 면역기능에 미치는 영향

        To invesitigate the immunoadjuvant effect of Taesanbanseok-san(TBS), TBS was pretreated to Ballb/c mice for 10 days with intraperitioneally. After 10 days, haptenic antigen (VCR-BSA, vincristine-bovine serum albumin) complexed with Freund's complete adjuvant was immunized. The results are as follows. The antibody production in Balb/c mouse immunized with VCR-BSA was markably increased in the pretreated group of TBS compared with saline treated(control) group. The number of macrophage in Balb/c mouse immunized with VCR-BSA was considerably increased about 2.3 times in the pretreated group of TBS compared with control group. The lysozyme activity of macrophage in Balb/c mouse that was immunized with VCR-BSA was increased gradually in the pretreated groups of TBS compared with control group. In the TBS pretreated group, B cell proliferation was increased with a dose dependent manner. At the concentration of twenty microliter/well of TBS, B cell proliferation activity was most highest. On the other hand, in the T proliferation, TBS pretreated group had less considerable activity than B cell proliferation. These results may suggest that TBS will have immunoadjuvant effects on the cells which concerned with immuno mechanism.

        유자차 부산물을 이용한 유자 과편의 최적화 연구

        This study was performed to develop a standardized recipe for yuza pyun made of citron juice that is by-product of citron tea, to increase the utilization of citron. The effects of mungbean starch(15%, 18%) and dilution ratio of yuza extract(100%, 75%, 50%) on the quality characteristics were evaluated. The quality characteristics of the samples were estimated in terms of sweetness, color difference, texture profile analysis and sensory evaluation. Sweetness of the 18% mungbean groups were higher than 15% groups(p<0.001). The values of Hunter color system indicated that higher content of yuza extract tended to increase yellowness significantly(p<0.001). Texture profiles of hardness, adhesiveness, springiness, cohesiveness, gumminess of yuzapyun showed no significant differences among samples. For sensory evaluation, color and sourness were decreased as yuza extract was diluted, whereas elasticity and sweetness were increased. Yuza pyun containing 18% of mungbean starch with 50% diluted extract was the most preferred in overall acceptability. According to multiple regression analysis, color, sweetness, elasticity and sourness(in order) were important control factors in overall acceptability.

        과일즙 및 발효 포도즙의 페놀성 화합물 함량과 항산화 활성

        Some selected fruit juices and fermented red grape juices were investigated to determine the phenolic components by the Folin-Ciocalteu method and antioxidant capacity using α-α-diphenyl-β-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH) method. Commercial red grape beverages and red wines were also analyzed as control groups. In the juice, kiwi fruit had the highest phenolic components followed by orange(summer), red grape(Cambell Early:Yong-Chun), mandarin orange (autumn), apple(Hong-Ok), cherry tomato, tomato and water melon. Whereas, on the antioxidant efficiency, tomato showed the highest free radical scavenging effect followed by orange(summer), cherry tomato, mandarin orange(autumn), apple(Aori) red grape(Cambell Early:Sung-Ju), kiwi fruit and water melon. The amount of pheonlic components of red wine was 2 times of that of fermented sugar added grape juice, however, the antioxidant efficiency of fermented sugar added grape juice was almost the same as that of red wine. It was found that no clear relationship could be shown between the content of phenolic component and antioxidant capacity of fruit juices and fermented red grape juices. The fruit juices from tomato, orange, cherry tomato, mandarin orange, red grape and fermented sugar added red grape juice showed high free radical scavenging effect and should be regarded as a valuable source of antioxidant.

        환기정도에 따른 수술실용 신발 종류가 수술실 오염에 미치는 영향 : How to Choose Suitable Shoes?

        Background : Various types of protective footwear have been used to minimize bacterial contamination in operating rooms. In recent years, debate has arisen concerning the need for use of such protective footwear. This study was designed to provide useful data about choosing shoes most suitable for the surgical environment. Methods : Between November, 1999 and January, 2000, we performed this experimental study by comparing effect of three types of shoes (i.e., disposable shoescover, operating room-restricted shoes, and ordinary shoes) on bacterial contamination of operating rooms equipped with two different ventilation systems (i.e., high air-change, low air-change) respectively. Data were collected during two-hour sham operations in which subjects and their activities were strictly standardized. Bacterial flora were sampled from the study area floor and air colony-counts were measured. Results : In experiments involving high air-change ventilation system, there was a significant difference of floor contamination between three types of shoes, but no difference of air contamination. Under low air-change system, there was a significant difference of both floor and air contamination between three types of shoes. Conclusion : The results show that protective footwear would be unnecessary in the operating room with high air-change ventilation system, but it is important to choose suitable shoes carefully under low air-change system. Therefore, the use of outdoor shoes can be considered under high air-change system, but it would seem sensible to apply their first use in less bloody operations at the day surgery center or out-patient department to prevent transfer of body fluid into the outside environment.

        진행된 HIV 감염 환자에서 십이지장의 미란성 병변으로 발현한 Mycobacterium genavense 감염 1예

        Mycobacterium genauense는 최근에 알려진 미코박테륨으로서, 식욕 부진, 체중 감소, 설사, 림프절 병증 등 파종성 Myocobacterium avium-intracellulare complex 감염과 유사한 임상상을 보이며, 위장관 침범을 잘 하는 것으로 알려져 있으나 아직 국내에서 증례는 보고된 바가 없다. 저자들은 진행된 HIV 감염 환자에서 십이지장의 미란성 병변으로 발현한 Mycobacterium genavense 감염 1예를 경험하였기에 문헌 고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. 환자는 상복부 동통과 발열, 설사로 내원하였다. 십이지장의 미란성 병변에서 시행한 조직검사에서 항산균이 가득 차있는 거품세포가 관찰되었으며, 이 검체에서 16S rRNA 유전자의 중합연쇄반응 검사를 시행하여 Mycobacterium genavense를 확인하였다. Mycobacterium genavense, first identified in 1990, is known as a pathogen that mimics disseminated Myocobacterium avium-intracellulare complex (MAC) infection with particular propensity for the gastrointestinal tract. In Korea, no case with the organism has been reported. Herein we report a case of Mycobacterium genavense infection that manifested with erosive lesion of duodenum in a patient with acquired immune deficiency syndrome. The patient presented with epigastric pain and fever, diarrhea. Duodenal biopsy showed histiocytic infiltration with numerous acid-fast bacilli. Identification of the mycobacterial isolate by the polymerase chain reaction restriction analysis of 16S rRNA gene revealed Mycobacterium genavense.

      • 대학무용수의 사회적 지지와 스트레스 대처 방식에 관한 연구

        The purpose of this study was to diagnose the relation among the type of dance major, social backup and stress coping behavior. To achieve the purpose, 232 dance majors from 5 universities in Seoul and metropolitan area were random-sampled. To rate social backup, Interpersonal Relations Perception Questionnaire used by Cohen and Hoberman in 1983 was used. To rate coping behavior on stress, The Ways of Coping Checkiist developed by Folkman and Lazarus in 1985 and translated and standardized by Kim, Jung-hee and Lee, Jang-ho in 1985 was used. For data process, One-way Analysis of Variance and Multiple Regression Model was used. Through these research tool and process, the result as follows were achieved. First, there were partial difference in social backup and stress coping behavior according to demographic variabies. Referring to social backup, the group with higher standard of knowledge generally showed more positive perception of social backup and the group with higher income discerned higher feelings of belonging. Referring to the religion, feeling of belonging to Christianity or Buddhism were higher than that of Catholic or pagan On the matter of stress coping behaviour, the higher grade the group was, the more stress coping behavior were shown and, in many cases, it was problem oriented coping behavior. This tendency is similar according to the amount of income. According to the type of religion, in many cases, probiem-oriented coping behavior and social backup seeking behavior were shown. Second, the more positively the dancer recognize of the dance major activity and the more highly recognize social backup, the more various types of stress coping behavior occurred except for coping behavior with wishful thinking.

      • 양극성 장애 조증과 혼재성 삽화의 치료제로서 Topiramate 단독요법의 항조증 효과와 안정성에 대한 예비 연구

        저자들은 양국성 장애 조중삽화 및 혼재성 삽화의 단독 치료제로서 새로운 항경련제인 topiramate의 항조증 효과와 안정성을 평가하기 위하여 본 연구를 하였다. 양극성 장애 조증 삽화와 혼재성 삽화로 진단이되어 입원을 한 환자 14명(남자 6명, 여자 8명)을 대상으로 topiramate를 단독으로 6주간 투여하였다. Young's Manic Rating Scale(YMRS), Brief Psychotic Rating Scale(BPRS)로 환자들의 증상정도를 평가하였으며, 추가해서 체중변화도 측정하였다. 연구결과, YMRS, BPRS 평균점수 및 체중은 topiramate 치료 전에 비해 6주 치료 후에 유의하게 감소되었다. 또, YMRS 점수가 20미만일 때 조증상태가 안정된 것으로 본다면, 본 연구에서 치료 6주 후 YMRS 점수가 20미만인 환자는 14명 중 7명으로 topiramate의 치료 반응률은 50%라 할 수 있다. 가장 흔한 부작용은 위장관 증상으로서 식욕감퇴, 구역, 설사 등이었으며, 이는 6주 연구 후에 topiramate 치료를 중단하게 하는 원인이었다. 진전이나 이상감각은 대체로 topiramate를 투여한 후 1∼2주 내에 나타났다가 1∼2주 지속된 후 사라졌다. 향후 연구에서는 본 연구의 제한점을 보완하는 대조군 연구가 필요하며, 부작용을 줄이기 위한 보다 적절한 topiramate의 증량방법도 고안되어야만 할 것이다. Objectives : Topiramate is a newly developed anticonvulsant agent with possible mood-stabilizing properties. The purpose of this study is to explore the antimanic efficacy and the tolerability of topiramate as monotherapy in bipolarⅠdisorder, most recent episode manic or mixed. Method : In this study, fourteen hospitalozed patients who met the DSM-Ⅳ criteria for bipolarⅠdisorder, most recent episode manic or mixed were given topiramate monotherapy for up to 6 weeks. The response to topiramate was assessed with Young's Manic Rating Scale(YMRS) and Brief Psychotic Rating Scale(BPRS). Body weight changes were also measured. The Ratings were completed at baseline nad then on 1,2,3,4, and 6 weeks. Results : The mean Young's Manic Rating Scale(YMRS) score improved from 38.36(25-42) at baseline to 22.29(12-37) at the end of the study. The Brief Psychotic Rating Scale(BPRS) score improved from baseline mean of 44.64(35-60) to a last observation of 28.92(13-43). The mean body weight decreased from 62.43kg(47-81kg) to 58.64kg(45-81kg). At the end of study, seven patients scored less than 20 on the YMRS score, three of them were less than 13, Adverse events included anorexia(N=9), nausea(N=6), diarrhea(N=4), paresthesia(N=4), tremor(N=2), and rash(N=1). Conclusion : In this study, the response rate to topiramate was 50% as a treatment agent for bipolarⅠdisorder, most recent episode manic or mixed and topiramate might be associated with weight loss. But the adverse effects such as gastrointestinal sympotoms decreased the compliance of topiramate. Inthe future, double-blind controlled studies are needed to further investigate the antimanic efficacy and tolerability of topiramate.

      • 당귀의 품질평가법에 관한 연구

        Angelicae gigantis radix is the root of the perennial plant, which belongs to family Umbelliferae. However, this herbal drug has quite different chemical components according to its different geographical origin though other herbal drugs (i.e. Leonuri Herba, Xanthii Fructus and so on) show similar major constituents. In other word, the root of Angelica gigas containing the coumarin compounds is commonly used in Korea as Angelicae gigantis radix, while Angelica sinensis and Angelica acutiloba including phthalide compounds are used in China and Japan, respectively. In this paper, Near-Infrared spectroscopy was developed to determine Genus name of Angelica spp., especially Angelica gigas and Angelica sinensis which are generally misused in the herbal market. Also X-ray fluorescence spectrometry was evaluated to analyze the differences between Angelica gigas and Angelica sinensis with their specific properties.

      • 아몰퍼스 자왜 와이어의 제작과 센서특성

        In this paper, we describe fabrication method and sensing functions of amorphous magnetostrictive wire. (Fe,Co)77Si8B5 chosen as nonstoichometric composition, is melted under high frequency induced furnance and then the melted composition is injection-quenched on water-flow at high speed revolution through the nozzle. As the result amorphous magnetostrictive-wires whose diameters are about 125㎛ are obtained On investigation of characteristics of the amorphous wires, a sharp Matteucci effect occurs even by low external magnetic field. It occurs by large Barkhausen jump due to magnetostriction of the amorphous wire. As the results of experiments, we find that amorphous-wires have sufficient characteristics needed as high sensitive security sensor material.

      • 마이크로파에 의한 Li₂O-2SiO₂글라스의 핵생성 및 결정 성장 거동

        Li₂O-SiO₂계 글라스를 재래식 열원과 마이크로파 열원으로 가열했을 때, 핵생성 및 결정화 거동을 비교 조사하였다. 전자주사현미경 분석, X선 회절 분석 및 시차열분석을 통하여 결과를 분석하였다. 재래식 열원과 마이크로파 열원으로 가열된 시편들의 핵생성 및 결정화 거동이 매우 상이하였다. 마이크로파가 시편내의 핵 생성을 억제시켰지만, 결정 성장은 축진시켰다고 추측된다. A comparison of nucleation and crystallization of Li₂O-SiO₂glass system under between the conventional and microwave heating was investigated. Scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffractometry, and differential thermal analysis were used to evaluate the results. Nucleation and crystallization behaviors under the microwave heating appeared largely different from under the conventional heating. It was assumed that microwaves inhibitied nucleation, but accelerted crystal growth.
