        Highly mesoporous activated carbon fibers using high density polyethylene precursor with a multi-step stabilization technique for automobile carbon canister

        In this study, activated carbon fibers (ACFs) for automobile carbon canisters were produced usinghigh-density polyethylene (HDPE) fibers treated with a multistep stabilization process as the precursor. The stabilization of the HDPE fibers involved the following sequential steps: (1) electron beamirradiation, (2) mild sulfonation, and (3) dry oxidation. The stabilized fibers were carbonized at 900℃in a nitrogen atmosphere. The carbonized fibers were activated at 900℃ in a water–vapor atmospherefrom 30-60 min. The textural properties of the activated carbon fibers were determined using N2/77 Kadsorption–desorption isotherms. The specific surface area ranged from 1090 to 1980 m2/g, and the totalpore volume ranged from 0.56 to 1.11 cm3/g. The specific surface area, micropore volume, and mesoporevolume increased with increasing activation time. The fractions of micropores and mesopores were similaracross all conditions, whereas the yield decreased gradually until 50 min, and then exhibited a sharpdecline at 60 min. The butane working capacity increased as much as 56.24% as the increase in activationtime. This can be attributed to the increase in butane activity owing to the increase in micropore volume,along with a decrease in butane resistivity caused by the increase in mesopore volume at a specificdiameter.

        Background and Objectives : Palindromic rheumatism (PR) is known to be triggered without any obviously inciting events in most patients, although, in a few cases, attacks have been noted to relate to another events such as weather change, childbirth, ingestion of certain foods, or over-exercise. The aim of this study was to characterize the triggering factors on palindromic attacks. Materials and Methods : We evaluated sixty-four patients with PR for the presence of triggering factors and the relationship between attacks and triggering factors by interview of patients. We considered that there was an probable association between episodes and PR, if episodes within 24 hours prior to PR had triggered at least 50% of all attacks and a definite association between episodes and PR, if episodes within 24 hours prior to PR had triggered 100% of all attacks. Results : In 15 patients (35.9%), there was a possible association between episodes of PR and initiating events. In 8 patients (12.5%), there was a definite association between episodes of PR and initiating events. The triggering factors were physical over-activity including exercise (19/64: 29.7%), foods, such as rawfish, crab, and chicken, including alcohol (19/96: 19.8%). However, there were no difference between the groups with and without the triggering factor in sex ratio, duration and onset of PR, the positive rate of rheumatoid factor and involved sites. Conclusion : Our observations showed that PR was triggered by physical over-activity more than in previous reports and hypersensitivity to foods was a causative factor in some patients with PR. However, patients with triggering factors had a similiar clinical profile to patients without triggering factors.

      • Rhizopus 속내의 2종에 대한 단백질 분석

        산업적, 공업적, 경제적, 의학적으로 중요한 균종중의 하나인 Rhizopus에 속하는 2 균종중 phylogeny상 유연관계가 상당히 먼 2종 R acidus 와 R. stolonifer를 택하여 이들의 유전자 발현 산물인 단백질 patterns을 관찰한 결과 SDS-PAGE로 분리한 단백질 patterns은 분자량 14,400 daltons에서 97,400 daltons사이에 30개 이상의 polypeptide bands를 볼 수 있었고, 2종간의 bands에서는 큰 차이를 볼 수 없었다. 등전점을 이용한 IEF-gel에서는 pH 3.5~10의 ampholine을 사용하였으나, 주로 pH6~pH8 사이에서 6~9개의 bands를 보았다. 전체적으로 R.stolonifer의 pH가 R.acidus의 pH보다 낮았는데, 이는 최적 생장 pH가 R.acidus가 더 높은 것과 일치하는 결과였다. The paper reports on soluble-protein patterns using SDS-PAGE and IEF-gel for two species, R, acidus and R stolonifer, in the genus Rhizopus. There are over 30 polypeptide bands ranged from molecular weight 14,400 ddtons to 97,400 daltons on SDS-PAGE and no obvious differences between two species. On IEF-gel using ampholine pH 3.5-10 as canier ampholytes, all of polypeptide bands are over pH 6, ranged from pH 6.5 to pH 7.9. Polypeptide bands of R. acidus are slightly more basic than in R. stolonifer. This result coincides with optimum pH of growth.

      • PDP형 배면광원용 ZnO:Al 투명전도막의 전기적 특성에 미치는 열처리 효과

        Aluminium doped zinc oxide transparent conduction film, which is widely used as a transparent electrodes for many optical devices such as solar cell, PDP, heat mirrors, etc. were prepared by the conventional DC/RF magnetron sputtering methods, using commercial ceramic target with a mixture of ZnO and Al_(2)O_(3). All the films were deposited on Corning glass substrate. The films were heat-treated up to maximum ~400℃ in order to study the effects of heat treatment on the morphological and electrical properties of ZnO:Al film. As the annealing temperature increases, both grain sizes of the film and (002) XRD peak decreases, which results in the increase of electrical resistivity. The electrical resistivity increases by 34% with increasing annealing temperature up to 400 ℃.

      • 폐자원과 재활용 데이터 질의처리 시스템

        산업의 발전으로 인해 발생하는 폐자원을 경제적 이익 뿐만 아니라 환경보호 차원에서 재활용하기 위해서는 폐자원 및 재활용 데이터에 대한 사용자의 질의를 처리할 수 있는 효율적인 질의처리 시스템이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 폐자원 및 재활용 데이터에 대하여 사용자가 쉽고 효율적으로 질의를 하고 질의를 처리할 수 있도록 양식을 이용하여 질의를 할 수 있는 방법과 SQL 편집기를 이용하여 질의를 할 수 있는 시스템을 구현하였다. 양식을 이용한 질의처리 시스템은 일반 사용자의 편의성을 위해서 일반적인 질의처리 방법과 원하는 정보, 검색조건에 따른 조인을 통해 질의를 처리하는 상세 질의처리 방법을 지원한다. 또한 SQL 편집기를 이용한 질의처리 시스템은 양식을 이용한 질의처리 시스템으로는 얻을 수 없는 복잡한 질의의 처리나 SQL 문을 선호하는 사용자를 위해 구현하였으며, 사용자의 편의를 위해 테이블 정보 및 관계 정보를 제공하도록 구현하였다. An efficient query processing system is required to expedite recycling resources discharged due to industrial development for economical benefits and environment conservation. This paper implements a query processing system that helps users query to the resources and resource recycling database system by using forms and a SQL editor easily and processes queries efficiently. The query processing system using forms supports general queries and detailed queries with conditions, which are processed with joins. The query processing system using the SQL editor is implemented for processing complex queries. Users preferring SQL statements can use it. The information on tables and the relationships among tables is provided in SQL editor for users' convenience.

      • 새마을運動의 繼承發展方向

        Looking back upon the Saemaul Undong, even since it began in the year 1970, it has been developed more powerfully and accomplished community development with the slogan of diligence, self-help and cooperation. As the result, most villages have gotten the improvement of physical environment, income increasing and positive changes in the attitudes and values of inhabitants. However, in spite of the Saemaul Undong's achievements, the movement has been faced to many kind of problems about the middle of the time of 1980's. And so nowadays, Saemaul Undong is not get out of a swamp of stagnation. Of course, it cannot he denied that it has made much contribution to the community development, but it is confronted with many serious problems. The reasons for the decline of Saemaul Undong are mainly the corruption of the headquarters of Saemaul Undong, disordered society, disparity of strata, depersonalization, the lack of new methodologies in the pursuit of Saemaul Undong, and etc. Recognizing these problems and to cope with the newly emerzing situation, a need has arisen for a change in Saemaul Undong. Therefore, these paper aims at researching for a new methodologies and strategies to carry out Saemaul Undong's progams continuously, and intends to suggest a new direction of sustaining Saemaul Undong. For the Purposes of suggesting altternatives continuously sustaining Saemaul Undong, this paper intends to formulate the principles and new directions of Saemaul Undong as follows : (1) The objectives and methodologies of Saemaul Undong should be reorganized in the context of new emerging situations. (2) Revitalizing local towns and rural areas must be pursued with special reference with hometown development. For the purpose, it is proper to organize a society for the support of hometown, and to invest money and resources in trying to help it. (3) In the spiritual aspect, it is desirable that the spirits of Saemaul Undong : diligence, self-help and cooperation should be expanded into a public interest and self-governing. (4) To induce residents to take part in and support Saemaul Undong, Noluntary Systems are formulated for securing public interest and a cultivation of personality. (5) A public movement creating a new nation, to meet a new twenty-frist centry, should be pushed ahead with a nation-wide development. (6) In a dimension of province level Saemaul Undong, the local branch of the headquarters of Saemaul Undong must take the initiative in doing Saemaul projects, and residents show their ability to carry out Saemaul Undong.

      • 수산자원관리체계에 관한 연구 : 통영지역을 중심으로

        The fish catches of Korea have been radically reduced because environments of coastal area are contaminated and fishery resources are reduced by the overfishing. So the government has enforced various policies for fostering fishery resources to increase the income of fishers and to provide smoothly with aquatic products. However, we are confronting with many problems resulted from the stagnation of fisheries industry from 1990. The problems are analysed with three points: socio-economic aspects, coastal environmental aspects and institutional aspects. In socio-economic aspects, many fishers are overburdened with the financial expenditure due to the excessive investments. Because of the reduction of relative incomes, the reduction of export increase rate, many fishers have threaten the fundamental fishery resources by doing as unlawful fishing activities. Also a cooperative association of fishery tend to center on the financial works rather than contribute to increasing the fisher's incomes. In coastal environmental aspects, the quality of water in the coastal areas is deteriorated by the filling-up and the land reclamation by drainage which are directed by the local governments. As a results, the deterioration makes a production of fishery decrease. So, it is needed to sustainingly protect the quality of water in the coastal areas. In institutional aspects, the fishery resources promotion policy ruled by the government has some doubts of practical effects because of the differences of jurisdictional areas and the services' scopes between the central government and the local government and a separation of jurisdictional departments in local government. Therefore, the investigation and analysis of the institutional arrangements must be preceded to contribute to the fishery resources-promotion policy.
