Effects of branched‐chain amino acid supplementation on fecundity, lifespan and flight ability of Helicoverpa armigera

        Shihao Zhou,LifengWANG,Zheming YUAN 한국곤충학회 2016 Entomological Research Vol.46 No.6

The effects on cotton bollworm, Helicoverpa armigera, of supplementing the benchmark larval feeding formula with branched‐chain amino acids (BCAAs) were analyzed. The results show that supplementary BCAAs can increase adult longevity, and are conducive to improving development and reproductive capacity. In particular, by supplementing the ration with the three proteinogenic BCAAs at concentrations ten times that of the benchmark formula, all the selected physiological indices of cotton bollworm health were improved. The larval duration, pupae weight, pupation rate, fecundity and adult longevity for specimens fed the supplemented formula were 15.8 days, 0.348 g, 100%, 1340.7 eggs and 27.3 days, respectively. The same indicators for larvae fed the benchmark formula were 16.6 days, 0.306 g, 97.9%, 1167.0 eggs and 12.0 days, respectively. This study provides a reference for future research on amino acid supplementation and increasing lifespans

        Angle-stable top-emitting white organic light-emitting devices employing a down-conversion layer

        Shihao Liu,Xuemei Wen,Wenbo Liu,Wei Zhang,Jing-Yuan Wang,Wenfa Xie,Letian Zhang 한국물리학회 2014 Current Applied Physics Vol.14 No.11

Angle-stable white top-emitting organic light-emitting devices (WTEOLEDs) by the combination of a blue TEOLED with a down-conversion (DC) layer are demonstrated. The DC layer is composed of red fluorescent dye doped in a host of tris (8-hydroxy-quinolinato) aluminum. The TEWOLED shows a CIE coordinates of (0.240, 0.332) and a maximum current efficiency of 3.95 cd/A. Furthermore, theWTEOLED shows excellently angle-stable characteristic, the CIE coordinates at 20 mA/cm2 only shift by (0.023, 0.007) from 0 to 60. It can be attributed to the angle-stable blue TEOLED based on the Ag/Ge/Ag transparent cathode.

Distribution characteristic of hydrodynamic pressure in the ballastless track crack under the train load

        Shihao Cao,Rongshan Yang,Luhui Shi,Jiali Li,Xueyi Liu 대한토목학회 2019 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.23 No.2

In the areas which have rich rain and poor drainage, there may be obvious water damage existed in the interlamination of ballastless track. The damage is mainly caused by repeated hydraulic fracturing. Aimed at this problem, the calculation model of water pressure under the train load was established on the basis of fluid-structure interaction theory, and the influence of crack geometry and train operation condition on water pressure were analyzed. The results show that, when the train is close to and far away from the location of the crack, the water pressure changes periodically under the train load, and the pressure peak occurs at the crack front. Simultaneously, the positive and negative pressure may both exist in the crack. The crack geometry affects the distribution of water pressure significantly, the value of water pressure is inversely proportional to the vertical opening of crack, and proportional to the cubic polynomial of horizontal crack depth. The water pressure increases firstly with the increase of longitudinal crack length, then decreases gradually and tends to be stable finally. The train operation condition is also an important factor affecting the distribution of water pressure, the value of water pressure is linear with the axle load, and proportional to the square of train speed. These research results will provide a hydraulic boundary condition for further study of water damage mechanism.

Thermal-mechanical coupling analysis and experimental study on CNC machine tool feed mechanism

Shihao Liu,Mao Lin 한국정밀공학회 2019 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.20 No.6

As the CNC machine tool feed mechanism is affected by joint action of heat and load during the working process, thermal–mechanical coupling analysis and experimental research on CNC machine tool feed mechanism are conducted. On the basis of exploring the thermal–mechanical coupling effect of CNC machine tool feed mechanism, a thermal–mechanical coupling dynamic analysis method is proposed through combining multi-step finite element simulation with temperature field experiment.According to the proposed method, the transient and steady-state simulation analysis on CNC machine tool feed mechanism are conducted and conclusions obtained are as follows, before the whole feed mechanism reaches thermal balance state, the thermal–mechanical coupling effect makes the deformation of the feed mechanism increase with the temperature rising. The correctness of the proposed thermal–mechanical coupling dynamic analysis method was verified by the contrastive analysis of the experiments. Therefore, in the process of CNC machine tool feed mechanism’s analysis and design, the influence of thermal–mechanical coupling effect on dynamic performance should be considered.

Vibrations characteristics of joined cylindrical-spherical shell with elastic-support boundary conditions

Shihao Wu,Yegao Qu,Hongxing Hua 대한기계학회 2013 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.27 No.5

Based on the Reissner-Naghdi’s thin shell theory, this paper concentrates on the free vibration of a joined cylindrical-spherical shell with elastic-support boundary conditions by a domain decomposition method. The joined shell is first separated from the elastic-support boundary and then subdivided into some cylindrical and spherical shell segments along the axis of revolution. The elastic-support boundary is regarded as a combination of distributed linear springs and can be treated as a special interface as well as the interface between two adjacent shell segments. Through the variational operation of the whole energy functional, the discretized equations of motion are derived by the expansions of the displacement field for each shell segment with Fourier series and Chebyshev orthogonal polynomials in the circumferential and longitudinal direction, respectively. To analyze the numerical convergence and precision of the present method, a number of case studies have been conducted and the solutions are compared with those derived by ANSYS and those presented in the previous literature to confirm the reliability and accuracy.

Submesoscale Flows Associated with Convergent Strain in an Anticyclonic Eddy of the Kuroshio Extension: A High-resolution Numerical Study

        Shihao Luo,Zhiyou Jing,Yiquan Qi 한국해양과학기술원 2020 Ocean science journal Vol.55 No.2

Based on fine-resolution simulations, we present a case study of the frontogenetic generation of submesoscale flows associated with a convergence field inside an anticyclonic mesoscale eddy in the Kuroshio Extension. The results reveal that the generation of submesoscale flows on the edge of the eddy is closely related to the convergent zone in the ageostrophic secondary circulation (ASC) that develops from frontal sharpening. Diagnostic analysis of the frontal tendency based on flow decomposition shows that frontal sharpening is initiated by mesoscale strain and accelerated by submesoscale convergence. With convergence on the cold side and divergence on the warm side of fronts, submesoscale divergent fields contribute to the asymmetry of the frontal tendency because the fronts tend to be strengthened by convergent motions and weakened by divergent motions. During frontal sharpening, the cross-front ASCs generate additional positive vorticity in their downwardbranches characterized by convergence via vortex stretching, which involves neighboring submesoscale vortices. Moreover, the enhanced lateral buoyancy gradients and surface buoyancy loss are conducive to triggering symmetric instability (SI) and ageostrophic anticyclonic instability (AAI) on the edge of the eddy. In response to these submesoscale instabilities and the subsequent slumping of fronts, the removal of kinetic energy (KE) associated with shear flows is comparable to the source of submesoscale KE from the eddy, which indicates that mesoscale energy can be drained by submesoscale instabilities during frontal sharpening. This study focuses on and describes the frontogenetic generation of submesoscale flows in mesoscale eddies in the Kuroshio Extension.

Assessment of the severe accident code MIDAC based on FROMA, QUENCH-06&16 experiments

        Shihao Wu,Yapei Zhang,Dong Wang,Wenxi Tian,Suizheng Qiu,G.H. Su 한국원자력학회 2022 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.54 No.2

In order to meet the needs of domestic reactor severe accident analysis program, a MIDAC (Module Invessel Degraded severe accident Analysis Code) is developed and maintained by Xi'an Jiaotong University. As the accuracy of the calculation results of the analysis program is of great significance for theformulation of severe accident mitigation measures, the article select three experiments to evaluate theupdated severe accident models of MIDAC. Among them, QUENCH-06 is the international standardNo.45, QUENCH-16 is a test for the analysis of air oxidation, and FROMA is an out-of-pile fuel rod meltingexperiment recently carried out by Xi'an Jiaotong University. The heating and melting model withlumped parameter method and the steam oxidation model with Cathcart-Pawel and Volchek-Zvonarevcorrelations combination in MIDAC could better meet the needs of severe accident analysis. Although theinfluence of nitrogen still need to be further improved, the air oxidation model with NUREG still has theability to provide guiding significance for engineering practice

A Deflectable Switched Reluctance Motor/Generator for Wave Energy Conversion and Underwater Propulsion Systems

        Gao Shihao,Wang Qunjing,Li Guoli,Qian Zhe,Zhou Sili,Li Zheng 대한전기학회 2021 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.16 No.6

This paper proposes a defl ectable switched reluctance motor/generator, which can be used in wave energy conversion and underwater propulsion systems. When an underwater vehicle stops working, the ocean current drives the turbine blades connected to the motor to rotate, and the rotating turbine blades drive the defl ectable generator shaft to generate electricity. The defl ectable motor can complete multi-degree-of-freedom motion, so it can receive ocean current energy in multiple directions, thereby improving energy extraction effi ciency. When the underwater vehicle starts to work, the defl ectable motor can freely adjust the course of the vehicle, so that the vehicle can yaw freely under water. The fi nite element method is used to analyze the air gap fl ux density during rotation and defl ection. The relationship between the fl ux, torque and current of a single coil under diff erent rotor positions is obtained, and then the output current and voltage of the defl ectable generator are obtained. Finally, a prototype was made for experimental verifi cation.
