        First-Principles Study of the Influence of Zirconium on the Diffusion of Uranium Defects in Uranium Dioxide

        The migration properties of uranium vacancies and interstitials in zirconium-doped uranium dioxide are studied by using density functional theory (DFT) and the climbing-image nudge elastic band (CI-NEB) method. The strong correlations among uranium $5f$ electrons were described by using a spherically averaged Hubbard parameter. In the model, the zirconium atoms are introduced by replacing the uranium atoms at the nearest and the next nearest neighbor sites along the diffusion path of uranium defects. The doping with zirconium obviously reduces the migration barriers for defects in uranium dioxide. The effect of doping with zirconium on the diffusion of uranium defects decreases with increasing distance between the zirconium dopant and the uranium defects. Further, we investigated the lattice distortion and the electron transfer associated with the migration of uranium defects, and we analyzed the physical origin of the reduction in the migration barriers caused by zirconium doping.

        Thyroid-Associated Orbitopathy: Evaluating Microstructural Changes of Extraocular Muscles and Optic Nerves Using Readout-Segmented Echo-Planar Imaging-Based Diffusion Tensor Imaging

        Objective: We aimed to investigate the ability of readout-segmented echo-planar imaging (rs-EPI)-based diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) in assessing the microstructural change of extraocular muscles (EOMs) and optic nerves in patients with thyroidassociated orbitopathy (TAO) as well as in evaluating disease activity. Materials and Methods: We enrolled 35 TAO patients and 22 healthy controls (HCs) who underwent pre-treatment rs-EPIbased DTI. Mean, axial, and radial diffusivity (MD, AD, and RD) and fractional anisotropy (FA) of the medial and lateral EOMs and optic nerve for each orbit were calculated and compared between TAO and HC groups and between active and inactive TAO groups. Factors such as age, sex, disease duration, mediation, and smoking history between groups were also compared. Logistic regression analysis was used to evaluate the predictive value of significant variables for disease activity. Results: Disease duration was significantly shorter in active TAOs than in inactive ones (p < 0.001). TAO patients showed significantly lower FA and higher MD, AD, and RD than HCs for both medial and lateral EOMs (p < 0.001), but not the AD value of lateral EOMs (p = 0.619). Active patients had significantly higher FA, MD, and AD than inactive patients for medial EOMs (p < 0.005), whereas only FA differed significantly in the lateral EOMs (p = 0.018). The MD, AD, and RD of optic nerves were significantly lower in TAO patients than HCs (p < 0.05), except for FA (p = 0.129). Multivariate analysis showed that the MD of medial EOMs and disease duration were significant predictors for disease activity. The combination of these two parameters showed optimal diagnostic efficiency for disease activity (area under the curve, 0.855; sensitivity, 68.4%; specificity, 96.9%). Conclusion: rs-EPI-based DTI is promising in assessing microstructural changes of EOMs and optic nerves and can help to indicate the disease activity of TAO, especially through the MD of medial EOMs.

        3D Markov chain based multi-priority path selection in the heterogeneous Internet of Things

        Internet of Things (IoT) based sensor networks have gained unprecedented popularity in recent years. With the exponential explosion of the objects (sensors and mobiles), the bandwidth and the speed of data transmission are dwarfed by the anticipated emergence of IoT. In this paper, we propose a novel heterogeneous IoT model integrated the power line communication (PLC) and WiFi network to increase the network capacity and cope with the rapid growth of the objects. We firstly propose the mean transmission delay calculation algorithm based the 3D Markov chain according to the multi-priority of the objects. Then, the attractor selection algorithm, which is based on the adaptive behavior of the biological system, is exploited. The combined the 3D Markov chain and the attractor selection model, named MASM, can select the optimal path adaptively in the heterogeneous IoT according to the environment. Furthermore, we verify that the MASM improves the transmission efficiency and reduce the transmission delay effectively. The simulation results show that the MASM is stable to changes in the environment and more applicable for the heterogeneous IoT, compared with the other algorithms.

        Effect of Oxidation on the Fatigue Crack Propagation Behavior of Z3CN20.09M Duplex Stainless Steel in High Temperature Water

        The fatigue crack propagation behaviors of Z3CN20.09M duplex stainless steel (DSS) were investigated by studying oxide films of specimens tested in 290℃ water and air. The results indicate that a full oxide film that consisted of oxides and hydroxides was formed in 290℃ water. By contrast, only a half-baked oxide film consisting of oxides was formed in 290℃ air. Both environments are able to deteriorate the elastic modulus and hardness of the oxide films, especially the 290℃ water. The fatigue lives of the specimens tested in 290℃ air were about twice of those tested in 290℃ water at all strain amplitudes. Moreover, the crack propagation rates of the specimen tested in 290℃ water were confirmed to be faster than those tested in 290℃ air, which was thought to be due to the deteriorative strength of the oxide films induced by the mutual promotion of oxidation and crack propagation at the crack tip. It is noteworthy that the crack propagation can be postponed by the ferrite phase in the DSS, especially when the specimens were tested in 290℃ water.

      • Bevacizumab Regulates Cancer Cell Migration by Activation of STAT3

        There are numerous clinical cases indicating that long-term use of bevacizumab may increase the invasiveness of tumors. However, to date, little is known about underlying molecular mechanisms. Therefore, the purpose of our study was to investigate effects of bevacizumab in four cancer cells lines (WSU-HN6, CAL27, Tca83, and HeLa). It was found to promote migration and invasion in the WSU-HN6 and Tca83 cases, while exerting inhibitory effects in CAL27 and HeLa cells. The signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT) 3 inhibitors niclosamide and S3I-201 inhibited the STAT3 signal pathway, which is activated by bevacizumab. These inhibitors also substantially blocked bevacizumab-induced migration of WSU-HN6 and Tca83 cells. Bevacizumab upregulated interleukin (IL)-6 and phosphorylated (p)-STAT3 expression time-dependently. Therefore, we propose that bevacizumab has differential effects on the migration of different cancer cell lines and promotes migration via the IL-6/STAT3 signaling pathway.

        텔레프리젠스 로봇의 수신자 중심 제어 방식이 실재감에 미치는 영향

        텔레프리젠스 로봇과 사람의 소통은 텔레프리젠스 로봇을 통한 원격 발신자와 수신자의 소통이라 할 수 있다. 이에 따라, 텔레프리젠스 로봇을 통한 원활한 감정소통을 위해서는 원격 발신자의 실재감이 효과적으로 전달되어야 한다. 이 연구에서는 1차 실험의 시각정보 제어 상황과 2차 실험의 청각정보 제어 상황에서, 텔레프리젠스 로봇의 화면 내 제어 방식(화면 내 제어: 없음 vs. 있음)과 물리적 거리 제어 방식(물리적 거리 제어: 없음 vs.있음)에 따른 실재감에 미치는 영향에 대해 평가하였다. 실험 분석 결과, 텔레프리젠스 로봇의 화면 내 제어 방식과 물리적 거리 제어 방식이 원격발신자의 실재감 평가에 긍정적인 영향을 준다는 점을 검증하였다. As a telepresence robot is developed for interpersonal communication between a remote sender and a receiver, sending presence of a remote sender to a receiver is an important issue. In order to find effective ways to increase presence, we executed a 2(on screen control: a telepresence robot without on screen control vs. a telepresence robot with on screen control)×2(in space control: a telepresence robot without in space control vs. a telepresence robot with in space control) within participants design (N=48). In this study, participants observed four videos depicting a receiver interacting with a sender through a telepresence robot. The results showed that on screen control and in space control of a telepresence robot improved the presence of a remote sender. Implications for design of telepresence robots to increase presence are discussed.

        As China is becoming one of G2 countries together with the establishment of its socialist legal system, it is more necessary of a legal framework approach to the China studies than ever. Therefore to have a deep understanding and full knowledge of China Law will take great effects on the China studies nowadays, that is the best point of time to devote oneself to studies on the legal regime of China as well. For this reason, it is considered to be extremely important to improve the level of China Law studies in Korea by an effective way that could reflect the distinguishing feature and structures of China Law. In this article, the characteristics of China Law are to be illustrated, including its rapid variability, factors related to the coexistence of socialism and the market mechanism, complicated sources of law, low effectiveness of law, and its continental legal system being added with some elements of Anglo-American legal system. Also the scheme of China Law currently in effect is to explained, divided into the Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, Civil Law, Commercial Law, Economic Law, Criminal Law, Procedure Law, Labor Law and Social Law, Environmental Law meanwhile some effective approach to China Law is to be introduced thereof. On the other side, quite a few law schools in Korea have already opened foreign or international regional law lectures today including China Laws. However the fact is that most of them are scheduled as an elective course and not such a subject in bar examinations that consequently resulted in being under full effect of its role, and even there a few China Law relative curriculum having some problem of itself. Nevertheless, as time has stepped into stage of all-round cooperative relationship between China and South Korea and the era of full-scale economic cooperation in East Asia, more and more law school students in Korean are turning their attention to China Law, and they expect to gain a foothold for their dream of becoming professionist at China Law on the basis on a proper understanding about China Law.

        수신자의 움직임을 모방하는 텔레프리젠스 로봇의 움직임이 원격 발신자의 실재감에 미치는 영향

        텔레프리젠스 로봇과 사람의 소통은 텔레프리젠스 로봇을 통한 원격 발신자와 수신자의 소통이라 할 수 있다. 이에 따라, 텔레프리젠스 로봇을 통한원활한 감정소통을 위해서는 원격 발신자의 실재감이 효과적으로 전달되어야 한다. 이 연구에서는 수신자의 움직임을 모방하여, 동일하게 움직이는 로봇의 움직임을 디자인하고, 수신자의 움직임을 모방하는 로봇과, 움직임이 없는 로봇 두 가지 조건을 사용하여 24명의 피험자를 대상으로 원격 발신자의 실재감에 대해 평가하였다. 실험 분석 결과, 피험자들은 수신자의 움직임을 모방하여 움직이는 로봇과 소통할 때, 아무 움직임이 없는 로봇보다 원격 발신자에게 보다 높은 실재감을 느꼈다. 이는 수신자의 움직임을 모방하는 텔레프리젠스 로봇의 움직임이 수신자와 원격 발신자 간의 감정소통에 효과적임을 알 수 있다. In this study, participants observed two videos depicting a receiver interacting with a sender through a telepresence robot with mirror movement of a receiver``s actions, and one without any movement. The results showed that participants felt more presence when interacting with a telepresence robot with synchronized movement than a robot without any movement. Implications for design of telepresence robots to increase presence are discussed.

        中國에 있어서 會社株式(持分)의 入質에 관한 硏究

        This thesis takes deposition of pledge of stock rights as the main structure. It explains theoretical questions through analyzing as well as comparing the mechanism of pledge of stock rights in China with their counterparts abroad. Thus it proposes advice on the improvement of our current legal system. First of all, this thesis, by the analysis of current situation of pledge system of stock rights points out that China has now formed a legal regulation system that centers around Real Right Law of the People’s Republic of China and Guaranty Law of the People s Republic of China. The system is supplemented by other laws, regulations and judicial interpretations. Such a system reflects certain characteristics that the commercial law doesn’t pay enough attention, the legal terminology aren’t consistent and at the same time, relating rules are conflicting. This thesis then discusses the subject of the scope of pledge of stock rights by discussing separately the pledge of stock rights and the scope of stocks can be pledged in terms of limited liability company, joint stock limited company, and of state-owned equity shares. The thesis focuses on the pledge of potential share, the share of the mortgagee and the stock rights before share issuing. And also discusses the acceptance of pledge of stock rights of the parent company by the subsidiary. In part four, the thesis also analyzes the scope of the force of such pledge. And considers it should be the self-benefited rights, including rights of claim for the distribution of profits and residual properties and right of subscription of newly issued stocks. In part four, this thesis briefly explains how and when to enforce pledge of stock rights, and focuses on the priority of payment of the mortgagee. In part five, based on the analysis above, this thesis concludes several problems in the legal system. They are the loopholes in our current legal system in this field as well as conflicts among regulations. The laws don’t have rules about the validity of the pledge of flawed stock rights and other issues. Then it comes to the advice for improvement that we should, for example, increase regulations about the pledge of stock rights in corporation law. We should also add some articles about the duty of noticing. And we should amend some inappropriate rules in our current laws. 본문은 회사주식(지분)의 질권설정을 중심으로 주식(지분)입질의 기본적인 문제에 대하여 이론적인 검토와 비교법적인 검토를 함과 아울러 중국 있어서 주식(지분)입질에 대한 법규제체계의 현황을 소개하고 개선방안을 제시하였다. 우선, 중국 회사주식(지분)입질의 법규제체계의 현황 및 특징에 대한 분석을 통하여 중국은 현재 “물권법”, “담보법”을 중심으로 기타 법률, 부문규장, 사법해석을 보충으로 하는 주식(지분)입질의 법규제체계를 형성하고 있으며 상법의 관심이 부족하고 법률용어가 통일되어 있지 아니하며 관련 규정간에 충돌이 존재하는 등 특징이 존재한다고 지적하였다. 둘째, 유한회사의 지분, 주식회사의 주식, 국유주식(지분)으로 나누어 주식(지분)질권의 설정범위와 설정방법을 검토하였다. 특히 권 리주의 입질, 자기주식의 질취, 주식발행전 주식의 입질 및 자회사의 모회사주식에 대한 질취 등 문제에 대하여 중점적으로 분석과 검토를 하였다. 셋째, 주식(지분)질권의 효력범위에 대한 검토를 통하여 주식(지분)질권의 효력은 자익권에 한하며, 물상대위의 범위에는 이익배당청구권, 잔여재산분배청구권은 포함되지만 신주인수권은 포함되지 않는다고 지적하였다. 넷째, 주식(지분)질권의 실행조건 및 주식(지분)질권의 실행방식에 대하여 간략하게 소개하였으며 집중적으로 질권 자의 우선변제권에 대하여 검토하였다. 다섯째, 위의 분석을 기초로 중국의 현행 주식(지분)입질제도에는 입법규정이 혼란스럽고 적지 않은 입법공백이 존재하며 하자주식(지분)입질의 효력을 규정하지 아니하고 기타 관련 제도의 규정이 없는 등 문제점이 존재하고 있다고 지적하고 이에 따라 향후의 개선책으로 회사법상 주식(지분)입질의 규정을 증설하고 회사의 통지의무규정을 신설하며 비상장회사의 주식(지분)질권의 효력요건을 개정을 하는 등 방안을 제시하였다.
