        Analysis of differential proteins in two different wing‐types of female Nilaparvata lugens

        Nilaparvata lugens (stal) is a rice pest and contains long‐winged and short‐winged varieties, called the wing differentiation. This study compared the protein profiles of the two wing‐types in females and two wing‐disc types 5th‐instar females by two‐dimensional electrophoresis analysis. We detected 172 and 174 protein spots in adults and 5th‐instar nymphs, respectively. The number of proteins with higher content in the long‐winged (disc) individuals is much more than that in the short‐winged (disc) individuals. A total of 32 differential protein spots were found, of which 20 were successfully identified. Their main function is about catabolic process, fiber and nucleoside binding, and they constitute 52 protein–protein interactions, which is around the glycolysis as the core. These results enrich the research on the protein Level in wing development, and provide more references for future studies.

        Biosynthesized Au/TiO2@SBA-15 catalysts for selective oxidation of cyclohexane with O2

        A variety of TiO2@SBA-15 supporters with various TiO2 loadings were synthesized using a facile sol-gel method. Gold (Au)-based catalysts were prepared with an environmentally benign and economical bioreduction method via Cacumen Platycladi (CP) leaf extract and immobilized on various TiO2@SBA-15 supporters with different TiO2 loadings. The as-prepared biosynthesized Au catalysts were applied in the liquid-phase cyclohexane oxidation. The results showed that the Au nanoparticles were well-dispersed on TiO2@SBA-15, and the Au existed as Au0. These biosynthesized Au catalysts are promising for cyclohexane oxidation, achieving a turnover frequency up to 3,426 h1 with a 14.1% cyclohexane conversion rate.

      • An On-line Strategy based on Rolling State Prediction for Hybrid Energy Storage System of Tram

        This paper aims at a hybrid tram with the onboard battery-supercapacitor storage system. This paper proposes an on-line strategy based on rolling state prediction (ROS). A wavelet neural network (WNN) is used to predict the running state of the tram in a certain period of time in the future according to the historic data, and the dynamic programming (DP) algorithm is used to optimize the energy management strategy (EMS) during the period. The strategy aims to optimize the system efficiency and battery life. Compared with classical rule-based (RB) strategy, ROS greatly increases the system efficiency and lengthens lifespan of battery and achieves real-time optimization.

        Silencing of rice stripe virus in Laodelphax striatellus using virus-derived double-stranded RNAs

        <P>Rice stripe virus (RSV) is one of the serious plant pathogenic viruses for rice and transmitted by small brown planthopper, Laodelphax striatellus. RNA interference (RNAi) is an innate defense mechanism against viral infection in eukaryotic organisms including insects. To disturb transmission of the RSV in L. striatellus using RNAi pathway, RSV-derived dsRNAs were applied to the insects indirectly through rice leaves by irrigation. As a result, replication of RSV in L. striatellus ingested RSV-derived dsRNAs was reduced in dose-dependent manner, suggesting that these dsRNA could induce innate antiviral RNAi pathway in L. striatellus and therefore suppress replication of RSV.</P>

      • Parallel Computing of Euler Equation using Multiple Graphics Processor Units

        An explicit cell-centered finite-volume solver for the Euler equation using a ghost-cell immersed boundary method using multiple graphics processor units with hybrid MPI-CUDA paradigm is reported. The solver was thoroughly validated with previously published simulations. The results show that the speedup can exceed 100 times on a single graphics processor unit (Nvidia Telsa M2070) as compared to a single thread of Intel Xeon X5472 CPU. In addition, parallel efficiency is more than 66% when 96 GPUs were used for a problem size of 48 million cells. More details of the implementation and test results will be presented in the meeting.

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>An interim restoration is a prototype for the definitive prosthesis and preserves the occlusal information and the original vertical dimension of the occlusion. Several techniques have been developed to transfer the information from implant-supported fixed interim to definitive restoration. However, these conventional techniques have limitations, and they are time-consuming, require making impressions and stone casts, and mounting in an articulator. The purpose of this article was to describe a digital technique to accurately transfer the information from complete-arch implant interim restoration to definitive restorations without using definitive casts.</P>

        The effect of body mass index and its interaction with family history on hypertension: a case–control study

        Background: BMI is an indicator commonly used in the world to measure the weight and height of the body, it reflects the comprehensive outcome of acquired lifestyle; FH is a sign reflecting the main role of genetic factors. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of BMI and interaction with FH on hypertension risk in Shanghai adult population. Methods: According to l:l matched pairs design, 342 cases and 342 controls were selected and investigated in this study, this study was performed in Shanghai, China. Participants received face-to-face questionnaire survey, anthropometric tests and laboratory examinations. Relevant indicators that reflect obesity including BMI and waist to hip ratio (WHR) were calculated. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was applied to explore the association between factors and hypertension risk. Interactive effect was evaluated by synergy index (SI), relative excess risk due to interaction (RERI), attributable proportion due to interaction (AP) and the percentage of the interaction between the pure factors (PAP). Results: Among 684 study participants aged 28–87 years old, the differences of mean age and height between case group and control group are no significant (p > 0.05), but the differences of mean of weight, WC, HC, BMI and WHR are significant (p < 0.001). The OR of FH on hypertension is 4.986 (95%CI: 2.832~ 8.877); the OR of BMI on hypertension is respectively: low weight is 1.528 (95%CI: 0.551~ 4.239), overweight is 3.333 (95%CI: 1.678~ 6.617) and obesity is 7.312 (95%CI: 3.556~ 15.035). The OR of interaction between FH and BMI to hypertension is 12.993 (95%CI: 7.426~22.734). SI is 1.90 (95% CI: 1.48~3.78), RERI is 5.67 (95% CI: 1.66~11.88), AP is 43.87% (95% CI: 12.84~91.88%), and PAP is 47.55% (95%CI: 13.91~99.58%). FH and BMI have positive interaction on hypertension. 43.87% of hypertension exposed to both FH and BMI was attributable to the interaction of them. Conclusions: FH and BMI are significant higher risks of hypertension; with the increase of BMI, the risk of hypertension will increase more. FH and BMI have positive interaction with hypertension, the interaction is greater than the sum of two independent actions.

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Fabricating an immediate complete denture in the conventional manner may be complicated and difficult. The purpose of this article was to describe a fully digital workflow used to fabricate an immediate complete denture before removing the teeth and without the use of conventional impressions or stone casts. The digital data for the workflow were acquired using an intraoral scanner and were then used to design the denture base and teeth after deleting any remaining tooth images from the virtual 3-dimensional image of the jaw. The resulting data were exported to a milling machine for denture fabrication.</P>

        Control Strategy and Characteristic Analysis of Hybrid Active Power Filters with the Resonant Impedance Principle

        A new kind of resonant impedance type hybrid active filter (RITHAF) is proposed for dynamic harmonic current suppression and high capacity reactive compensation in medium and high voltage systems. This paper analyzed the different performance of the RITHAF when the active part of the RITHAF is controlled as a current source and as a voltage source, respectively. The harmonic suppression function is defined in this paper. The influences of the changes caused by the grid impedance and the detuning of the passive power filter on the compensating characteristics of the RITHAF are studied by analyzing the suppression function. Simulation and industrial application results show that the RITHAF has excellent performances in harmonic suppression and reactive compensation, which is suitable for medium and high voltage systems.

        16世紀以來基隆在東亞海運中的地位與城市發展

        이 연구는 16세기 이래로 동아시아 해외 무역과 경제 발달 과정에서의 항구도시 기륭의 역할을 살펴본다. 일반적으로 항구도시의 발달은 특정한 지리학적 이점에 의해 크게 영향을 받아왔다. 항구도시는 내륙지역, 연안의 섬 또는 해외 지역에 위치해 있을지도 모른다. 항구도시의 문화적 발달을 이해하기 위해서, 우리는 자연환경은 물론 해외 무역, 해외 이민, 문화 교류 그리고 개발 경험에 초점을 맞추어야 한다. 타이완 섬의 북부에 위치해 있는 기륭은 수세기 동안 서양과 동양 사이에서 국제 무역의 중심지였다. 기륭은 16세기 이래로 스페인, 네덜란드, 그리고 일본이 통치하였다. 이 논문은 해양의 환경과 관련하여 기륭지역이 가지고 있는 다문화의 특성을 연구한다. This study reviews the role of Keelung Harbor City in the process of East Asia’s oversea trade and economic development since the 16th century. In general, the development of a harbor city has been tremendously affected by a certain geographical advantage. The harbor city may be located in an inland area, offshore island, or oversea area. In order to understand the cultural development of the harbor city, we have to focus on oversea trade, oversea immigration, cultural exchange, and development experience, not to mention the natural environments. Keelung located in the north of the Taiwan Island, was a center of the international trade between the West and the East for many centuries. Keelung was ruled by Spain, the Netherlands, and Japan since the 16th century. This essay investigates the multi cultural characteristics harboring in the Greater Keelung area in the relation with the oceanic atmosphere.
