        An Optical Zoom System Based on Tunable Lens with Polymer Membrane and Multilayered Structure

        We have developed an optical zoom system based on tunable lens with polymer membrane and multilayered structure. The presented system employed two tunable lenses and two doublet lenses as the main refractive units. Each tunable lens had a delicately designed, solid-liquid mixed structure with multiple internal slim holes, which helped to improve the lens optical properties and stability against gravity. The optical structure and regulation principle of the zoom system is presented, as well as the detailed fabrication process of the tunable lens. Under different displacement loads, the lens deformation properties, and the adjustment ability and imaging characteristics of the zoom system were measured and analyzed. Besides, the spot diagram, field curvature and distortion of the system were simulated using the Zemax software. The magnification of the designed system could be regulated from 0.2X to 4.3X flexibly depending on the focal variation of each tunable lens.

      • Homicidal Poisoning of Heroin and Estazolam : Autopsy and Pathological Findings, Toxicological Analysis

        We reported an unusual homicidal case in which a 40-year-old woman was deceived into drinking a cup of milk that had 72 tablets of estazolam (2mg/tablet) dissolved in, and then being injected heroin aqueous solution on the right deltoid region by the criminal. At autopsy, pinpoint pupils and a new injection site on the right deltoid region were found. The pathologic pictures showed multiple patchy hemorrhages and considerable amounts of foreign amorphous substance with yellow appearance at the injection site. Some double refracting crystals with the forms of Maltese cross, acicular, rhomb or irregular were found by polarizing microscope, which may result from the diluent in heroin such as starch. Toxicological qualitative analysis by gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC-MS) demonstrated the presence of benzodiazepine and morphine in blood and urine, and heroin in the injector left at scene. Quantitative analysis was also performed by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), providing the data on distribution of 6-monoacetylmorphine, morphine and estazolam in the woman’s body. And the cause of death was determined to polydrug heroin-related deaths due to the combined poisoning of heroin and estazolam. It taught a lesson that the determination of other drugs, particularly central nervous system depressants in heroin poisoning were quite important in forensic expertise.

        ORiginal Article : Tryptase and Protease-Activated Receptor 2 Expression Levels in Irritable Bowel Syndrome

        Background/Aims: Previous studies have revealed that mast cells (MCs) may activate the protease-activated receptors and release of neuropeptides involved in the pathogenesis of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). The levels of proteaseactivated receptor 2 (PAR-2) and tryptase can contribute to understanding the pathogenesis of IBS. Methods: Colonoscopic biopsies were performed of 38 subjects (20 with IBSdiarrhea [IBS-D], eight with IBS-constipation [IBS-C], and 10 healthy volunteers). The mRNA and protein levels of tryptase and PAR-2 were assessed by real-time PCR and Western blot. The levels of vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP), substance P (SP), and calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) were measured by immunohistochemistry, and MCs were counted by toluidine blue staining. Results: Significant increases in the mRNA expression of tryptase (p<0.05, IBS-D, IBS-C vs control) and PAR-2 (p<0.05, IBS-D, IBS-C vs control) and in the tryptase protein level (p<0.05, IBS-D, IBS-C vs control) were detected in IBS. Elevations of MCs, CGRP, VIP and SP (p<0.05, IBS-D vs control) were observed for IBS-D only. Conclusions: Tryptase levels may upregulate the function of PAR- 2, resulting in the release of neuropeptide and they were correlated with clinical symptoms associated with IBS.       • 전시참관객의 유형에 따른 전시회 효과성에 대한 인식이 구매행동에 미치는 영향

        본 연구는 선행연구를 바탕으로 하여 참관객의 참관목적 요인을 도출하고, 그에 따른 참관객 유형을 분류하며, 분류된 유형에 따른 전시회의 효과성에 대한 인식이 참관객의 실제 구매행동에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 파악하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 연구의 결과 전시참관목적에 따라 "집중적 참관객", "특정 목적 참관객", "순회자", "저 관심 참관객" 등 4개의 참관객 유형이 도출되었고, 각 유형의 특성을 파악하였다. 그리고 탐색적 요인 분석을 통해 "상호작용 효과성 요인", "전문정보 획득 효과성 요인", "현장 프로모션 효과성 요인", "업무정보 획득 요인" 등 4개의 전시회 효과성 요인이 도출되었고, "계획구매 요인"과 "비 계획구매 요인" 등 2개의 구매행동 요인이 도출되었다. 전시참관객이 인식한 전시회 효과성과 구매행동 간의 영향 관계를 검증한 결과, 계획구매에 영향을 미치는 효과성 요인은 현장 프로모션 효과성, 전문정보획득 효과성, 업무정보획득 효과성의 순으로 나타났으며, 비 계획구매에 영향을 미치는 효과성 요인은 전문정보획득 효과성, 상호작용 효과성, 현장 프로모션 효과성의 순으로 나타났다. 이는 앞으로 전시참가업체나 주최자가 더 효율적으로 마케팅 전략을 수립하는 데 도움이 될 수 있다. The purpose of this study is to classify trade show visitors based on their purpose of visiting the trade show and then to examine whether there were any differences between each type of trade show visitors on perception of trade show effectiveness and purchase behavior. Also the other purpose of this study is to explore the effect of visitors` perception of trade show effectiveness on visitors` purchase intention. As a result, 4 types of trade show visitors such as "intensive user", "special purpose user", "stroller" and "pragmatist" were clustered based on the purpose of visiting the trade show, and each type of visitors` characteristics were identified in details. 4 factors such as "overall information acquisition effectiveness factor", "specialized information acquisition factor", "interaction effectiveness factor", and "on-site promotion effectiveness factor" were deducted as determinant factors of trade show effectiveness, and 2 factors such as "planned purchase" and "unplanned purchase" were deducted as determinant factors of visitors` purchase intention. The results also show that "on-site promotion effectiveness factor", "specialized information acquisition factor", and "overall information acquisition effectiveness factor" positively affects visitors` planned purchase behavior, and "specialized information acquisition factor", "interaction effectiveness factor" and "on-site promotion effectiveness factor" have a positive effect on visitors` unplanned purchase behavior. This study employing a theoretical framework to evaluate the visitors` purpose of visiting the trade show and trade show effectiveness from the perspective of visitors. By viewing such results, it can help trade show exhibitors and organizers to make more effective marketing strategies in the future.

        EBV-miR-BHRF1-1 Targets p53 Gene: Potential Role in Epstein-Barr Virus Associated Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia

        Purpose The purpose of this study was to investigate the prognostic impact of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)–microRNA (miRNA, miR)-BHRF1-1 with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) as well as role of EBV-miR-BHRF1-1 in p53 gene. Materials and Methods Quantitative reverse transcription–polymerase chain reaction and western blotting were used to quantify EBV-miR-BHRF1-1 and p53 expression in cultured CLL. Results p53 aberration was associated with the higher expression level of EBV-miR-BHRF1-1 (p < 0.001) which was also an independent prognostic marker for overall survival (p=0.028; hazard ratio, 5.335; 95% confidence interval, 1.193 to 23.846) in 97 newly-diagnosed CLL patients after adjusted with International Prognostic Index for patients with CLL. We identified EBV-miR-BHRF1-1 as a viral miRNA regulator of p53. EBV-miR-BHRF1-1 repressed luciferase reporter activity by specific interaction with the seed region within the p53 3- untranslated region. Discordance of p53 messenger RNA and protein expression was associated with high EBV-miR-BHRF1-1 levels in CLL patients and cell lines. EBV-miR-BHRF1- 1 inhibition upregulated p53 protein expression, induced cell cycle arrest and apoptosis and decreased cell proliferation in cell lines. EBV-miR-BHRF1-1 mimics downregulated p53 protein expression, decreased cell cycle arrest and apoptosis, and induced cell proliferation in cell lines. Conclusion This study supported the role of EBV-miR-BHRF1-1 in p53 regulation in vitro. Our results support the potential of EBV-miR-BHRF1-1 as a therapeutic target in EBV-associated CLL with p53 gene aberration.

        Key role of peptidoglycan on acrylamide binding by lactic acid bacteria

        The primary purpose of this study was to analyze the ability of four peptidoglycan (PGN) from different lactic acid bacteria to bind acrylamide (AA) and to identify the binding mechanism. In this study, to clarify the possible binding interactions among AA and components of PGN, chemical components, surface structure, amino acids component, and functional groups of peptidoglycans were studied. It was found that PGN from Lactobacillus plantarum 1.0065 had the highest ability to bind AA with 87%. Furthermore, a significant positive relation was found between the carbohydrate content of PGN and percentage of bind AA, and the content of four specific amino acids of PGN and AA binding ability were also positive correlated. Thereinto, alanine of PGN had a significant impact on AA binding among four amino acids. Additionally, the C–O (carboxyl, polysaccharides, and arene), C=O amide, and N–H amines groups of PGN were involved in AA binding.

        Research on Constitutive Models and Hot Workability of As-Homogenized Al- Zn-Mg-Cu Alloy During Isothermal Compression

        Hot compression tests of as-homogenized Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy were performed at the deformation temperaturerange of 350-450 °C and the strain rate range of 0.001-1 s-1. The Arrhenius-type constitutive equation and theAvrami-type model were established to predict the flow behaviors of the alloy respectively. The processing map atthe true strain of 0.92 was developed to evaluate the workability of the alloy and the related microstructures wereinvestigated. The results show that the Avrami-type model has a higher accuracy to predict flow stress than theArrhenius-type constitutive equation. The stable deformation occurs under high temperature or low strain ratemainly owing to the dynamic recrystallization. Flow instability is prone to occur under the condition of low temperatureand high strain rate due to the initiation and the propagation of micro-cracks. According to the processingmap and corresponding microstructure characteristics, the optimum processing parameters are in the temperaturerange of 380-405 °C and the strain rate range of 0.006-0.035 s-1.

        Temperature Distribution and Mechanical Response of Orthotropic Steel Bridge Deck During Paving of Gussasphalt Pavement

        To investigate the temporal–spatial temperature fi eld and mechanical response of an orthotropic steel bridge deck during paving with gussasphalt concrete (GAC), in situ monitoring of the Cuntan Yangtze River Bridge in China was conducted during GAC paving, and a fi nite element method model of the temperature fi eld was established. The test and model show the following: (1) The maximum temperature occur at the paving area mid-span on the steel bridge deck, and the temperature stress of the ribs is non-negligible. (2) The deck in the paving and non-paving areas is mainly subjected to compressive and tensile stresses, respectively. (3) The beam end of the steel box expanded outward, and the deck bulge upward. (4) Based on the analysis of the construction parameters, the paving temperature and width have a greater infl uence than the paving speed on the stress and deformation fi elds. In bridge design, the temperature-stress problem caused by high-temperature pavement and the pavement thickness problem caused by the temperature deformation of the deck must be considered. The longitudinal elongation should meet the allowable limits of the corresponding telescopic device. These results can provide a reference for construction workers and maintenance personnel of bridge deck pavement.

      • Serum Tumor Markers, Hypoxia-Inducible factor-1α HIF-1α and Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor, in Patients with Non-small Cell Lung Cancer Before and after Intervention

        Objective: To explore changes in the serum tumor makers, hypoxia-inducible factor-$1{\alpha}$ (HIF-$1{\alpha}$) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) level and their relations in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) before and after intervention. Materials and Methods: Forty patients with NSCLC and 40 healthy individuals undergoing physical examination in our hospital provided the observation and control groups. HIF-$1{\alpha}$ and VEGF levels in serum were detected by enzyme-linked immuno-sorbent assay (ELISA) in the observation group before and after intervention and in control group on the day of physical examination, along with serum carcino-embryonic antigen (CEA), neuron-speci ic enolase (NSE) and squamous cell carcinoma antigen (SCC) levels in the observation group with a fully automatic biochemical analyzer. Clinical effects and improvement of life quality in the observation group were also evaluated. Results: The total effective rate and improvement of life quality after treatment in observation group were 30.0% and 32.5%, respectively. Serum HIF-$1{\alpha}$ and VEGF levels in the control group were lower than that in observation group (p<0.01), but remarkably elevatedafter intervention (p<0.01). In addition, serum CEA, NSE and SCC levels were apparently lowered by treatment (p<0.01). Serum HIF-$1{\alpha}$ demonstrated a positive relation with VEGF level (p<0.01) and was inversely related with CEA, NSE and SCC levels (p<0.01). Conclusions: Significant correlations exist between marked increase of serum HIF-$1{\alpha}$ and VEGF levels and decrease of indexes related to hematological tumor markers in NSCLC patients after intervention.
